‘Wednesday’ Season 2: Everything To Know So Far About The Wretched Return Of Jenna Ortega’s Goth Sleuth (Feb. 2025 Update)

Wednesday
Netflix

Wednesday‘s three-year hiatus has been filled with impromptu dance interludes while the series has remained on Netflix’s Top 10 Most Watched TV shows in the streamer’s history. In the interim, director Tim Burton and star Jenna Ortega released the successful Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel, which saved the dark fantasy director from retirement (after that Dumbo debacle), as revealed by Burton himself. Yet ultimate goth daughter’s success surely did not hurt, and fortunately, the rest is macabre history, so let’s piece together the clues on what misery Wednesday Addams shall bring next.

Plot

Netflix

Netflix has newly revealed this photo of Ortega looking mysteriously stony faced, and it’s not looking good for Tyler after his Hyde status surfaced. Below, a preview clip shows Wednesday visiting him at Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, and of course her poker face doesn’t reveal whether she’s making a social call or something not so benevolent. She only smiles when Uncle Gomez shows up, so the jury is out on her mood. Regardless, Tyler is surely missing the semi-good-natured jump scare that she gave him at the school dance, although Ortega revealed that Wednesday will continue to jump scare in a story partially inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death.”

Couple that with Little Storm Cloud keeping her amateur detective skills honed, and we should expect more mystery (including the search to unmask Wednesday’s stalker, as revealed by the final moments of the first season) to unfold in a premiere episode called “Here We Woe Again,” which brings Burton back to the director’s chair. Meanwhile, co-showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar have dropped some hints: “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore.” They added, “Season 2 will be delightfully dark, kooky, and mysterious. If we told you why, Wednesday would kill us. So our lips are sealed.”

Ortega weighed in on her respect for Wednesday, too: “[She] sticks to her guns, and she’s not out to please anybody, [w]hich, as someone who used to be an immense people pleaser, I really respect.” Wednesday, will, however, be working on her bonding abilities with Morticia, and ideally, Gomez will keep growing his list of adorable nicknames (“Little Viper,” “Little Tormenta,” “Little Storm Cloud,” and so on) for his daughter.

Presumably as well, Ortega’s input into this second season has vastly increased on a formal level, since she’s now executive producing. In regard to the first season, she controversially confessed to Hollywood Reporter, “There was times on that set where I even became almost unprofessional, in a sense, where I just started changing lines. The script supervisor thought that I was going with something, and then I would have to sit down with the writers and they would be like, ‘Wait, what happened to the scene?’ And I would have to go through and explain why I couldn’t do certain things.” She then added, “I grew very, very protective of [Wednesday].” No kidding.

Cast

Jenna Ortega is the Wednesday Addams of her generation. Likewise, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman make a fitting Morticia and Gomez Addams for our times. Thing will be back because nobody can stop Thing, and there’s no confirmation for an Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) return as Uncle Fester (or an update on that reported spin off) to elicit the rare Wednesday smile. Supposedly, a new member of the fam will also make their debut.

Emma Meyers will return as Enid, who had made a full reconciliation with her gloomy roommate. Hunter Doohan is back as Tyler, perhaps not for long, but Percy Hynes White was dismissed Xavier Thorpe, and both Naomi J. Ogawa and Jamie McShane are no longer regulars.

New cast members, including Billie Piper (as Capri), Joanna Lumley (as Grandmama), Thandiwe Newton (as Dr. Fairburn) Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, and Evie Templeton, will fill that void.

No word has surfaced about Christina Ricci as Marilyn Thornill (probably not, given her character’s revelations), but Gwendoline Christie can’t resist teasing whether Principal Weems is really dead. Officially, however, Steve Buscemi is now portraying the new Nevermore Academy principal Barry Dort. As for Lady Gaga’s role? Your guess is as good as ours, but she should be monstrous.

Release Date

Wednesday will bring woe back sometime in 2025. This next season sounds a lot like a Halloween arrival.

We’ve already covered the teaser and preview videos, but the Wednesday Addams dance never gets old.

Ed Sheeran’s Impromptu Street Performance For Fans Was Abruptly Shut Down By Indian Police

Ed Sheeran is revered as a prolific songwriter. But the “Bad Habits” singer’s most valuable attribute is his ability to go with the flow. While on tour, Ed Sheeran lives out his wildest spontaneous dreams from picking up a barista shift and crashing weddings to joining bar crawls with fans.

Yesterday (February 8), Ed Sheeran decided to treat fans in India to an impromptu street show ahead of his concert at the NICE Grounds in Bengaluru. Unfortunately, just the performance hit its stride, Indian police abruptly ended the set. In a viral clip (viewable here), a crowd of supporters gathered to listen to Sheeran sing. Despite the calm nature of the gathering, authorities approach Sheeran questioning his actions. Then the official tugs at the equipment to interfere with the sound. Sadly, the video then ends before you can determine the results of the interaction.

According to Times Of India, local officers were acting in accordance with local laws. The outlet claims Sheeran was not target as they were “unaware of his identity.” Insiders say Sheeran simply did not receive permission from the Cubbon Park Police or the Church Street Association “to stage a public performance.”

Given the cost of admission of Sheeran’s India tour dates local fans are furious with the police.

Ed Sheeran has not publicly addressed the incident.

Death Grips Has Reportedly Split Up, According To The Group’s Producer Andy Morin

In 2023 after a four-year tour hiatus, Death Grips hit the road to perform for fans across the country. Despite one incident with fan throwing items, the “System Blower” musicians time together seemed to be smooth sailing.

However, according to a viral post (viewable here) Death Grips are no longer together. Yesterday (February 8), a user uploaded screenshots of a conversation between Andy Morin, one of the producers within the group.

The start of the supposed conversation is not shown in the shared image. But it does include Morin’s discussing the status of Death Grips. “Yeah it’s over,” Morin allegedly wrote.

Morin went on to reveal what led to the supposed disbandment. “Stefan [Burnett] doesn’t want to do anymore,” wrote Morin referring to the group frontman MC Ride. “But truthfully none of us can ever predict what will happen with the group.”

MC Ride and Death Grips’ other member producer Zach Hill have not issued a statement regarding the viral post. Still, fans have begun to mourn the supposedly split. This isn’t the first time Death Grips have reportedly broke up.

Back in 2014, Death Grips took a brief break after their album The Powers That B‘s release. The following year Death Grips reconnected for their world tour. Then Death Grips dropped their subsequent projects, 2016’s Bottomless Pit, 2018’s Year Of The Snitch, and 2019’s Gmail And The Restraining Orders.

‘You’ Season 5: Everything To Know So Far About The Final Stand For Penn Badgley’s Stalker Joe (Feb. 2025 Update)

you-season-5-lg
Netflix

You found new life on Netflix after languishing on Lifetime for a season. Before long, a horrified Penn Badgley found himself attempting to dissuade superfans of Killer Joe as he stalked his way through Guinevere Beck’s friend group. The following trio of seasons did nothing to deter bingewatching enthusiasts from obsessing over Joe, but fortunately, You has been in on the morbid joke from the start, and most of the fans get it, too.

Even though the ennui-filled fourth season dragged with Joe in gloomy England, he’s making a much anticipated return to his old stomping grounds. Let’s talk about the fresh injection of life (and death) that we can expect for the fifth and final season.

Release Date

You will say goodbye to you on April 24. This date announcement video doubled as an initial teaser and previewed Joe’s return to Mooney’s, where the basement cage remains intact. Clearly, Joe is going back to basics with this voiceover: “Here we are, together again, back to where it began. And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me is you.” Yikes.

Plot

After basking in the Los Angeles sunshine, withering in suburbia, and not knowing what the hell to do with himself in London, Joe is back in Manhattan. As stated above, he will head back to Mooney’s and the cage that held Benji and Beck. So plenty of ghosts will surface, and Netflix confirms as much in the following description: “In the epic fifth and final season, Joe Goldberg returns to New York to enjoy his happily ever after… until his perfect life is threatened by the ghosts of his past and his own dark desires.”

Do not expect those “dark desires” to include any sex scenes for Joe, however, because Badgley has had enough of them and came to an agreement with producers to that effect. After the third season “partner swap” scene, which was one of the most uncomfortable sex scenes in TV history, it’s not hard to make a few guesses regarding the timing of his decision.

Netflix has otherwise stayed quiet on plot, but previously, the streaming service unveiled a photo of Joe playing with fire by hanging out near the scene of his old crimes. Presumably, he would have cleaned up the evidence that remains in the basement, but Baby Reindeer actress Nava Mau will portray a detective, so perhaps Joe has made the dumbest move ever (and there have already been plenty) by coming back to his TV ground central. Perhaps, deep down, Joe wants to be caught? His tour of terror could alternatively land him in prison or a coffin, and he would likely not stop until the latter happened.

This final season will see plenty of memory-filled sights but under the authority of a new showrunner after series co-creator Sera Gamble departed and was replaced by You writers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo.

Cast

Joe Goldberg always felt like an evolution of Badgley’s Gossip Girl role, and he will bring that hot mess to a close with this season.

Charlotte Richie will return as Joe’s current wife, Kate, and her brother will be portrayed by Griffin Matthews (The Flight Attendant). Kate also has identical twin sisters, both portrayed by Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), who could prove to be foils for Joe. Speaking of trouble, Nava Mau (Baby Reindeer) picked up the role of an NYPD detective.

Potential victims include Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Bronte, who works for Joe as a bookseller.

Do not count out a return by John Stamos as Dr. Nicky, who has unfinished business after Joe framed him for Beck’s death seasons ago. This fifth season should also haunt Joe with Elizabeth Lail’s Beck, Victoria Pedretti’s Love, and Ambry Childers’ Candace. Whether or not we will see a return of Tati Gabrielle’s Marienne remains unknown, and although Jenna Ortega previously expressed interest in returning as Ellie, her schedule is probably too wild for a NYC-pop-in just to visit with Joe.

A lengthier teaser trailer takes viewers deeper into Joe-designed hell.

‘I Think You Should Leave’ Season 4: Everything To Know About Whether Tim Robinson’s Brilliant Sketch Show Is Coming Back

I Think You Should Leave
Netflix

I think I speak for everyone who doesn’t live in Philadelphia when I say the following: the Detroit Lions should be in the Super Bowl, not the Eagles. Am I a Lions fan? Nope, couldn’t care less about them.

But I am a fan of Detroiters co-creators / real-life best friends Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson, and they root for the Lions. Therefore: forget “go Birds.” Go Lions. Thankfully, Robinson and Richardson’s presence will still be felt during Super Bowl LIX as they’re starring in a Totino’s commercial together.

Robinson is also working on an HBO series with his writing partner Zach Kanin and starring in Friendship, an acclaimed comedy with Paul Rudd that should come out later this year. But what about I Think You Should Leave? Is there going to be a fourth season of the masterful Netflix sketch show? Let’s find out.

Plot

In lieu of describing the plot (?) of I Think You Should Leave, you should check out our rankings for the best sketches in season 1, season 2, and season 3.

As for season 4, Robinson told Collider in September 2024 that I Think You Should Leave is “not over. I don’t think it’s over.” When asked if he and co-creator Zach Kanin are writing new material, the one-man meme replied, “I can’t really say anything now, but… yeah.” Give me that.

Robinson and Kanin are also working on HBO’s The Chair Company. The comedy follows William Ronald Trosper (played by Robinson), who finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy after an embarrassing incident at work. The cast also includes Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Will Price and Joseph Tudisco. “With an imprint only Tim and Zach can have on a character, William Ronald Trosper follows in the strong tradition of HBO comedy leads,” Amy Gravitt, EVP, HBO & Max Comedy Programming, said in a statement. “I couldn’t be happier to announce the pickup of this wildly enjoyable show.”

Tim Robinson in a workplace comedy? Yeah, that’ll do.

Cast

There’s Tim Robinson, of course, who should have won an Emmy for his pronunciation of “tables” alone. Guest stars who have been in at least two of the three seasons so far include Sam Richardson, Patti Harrison, Conner O’Malley, Tim Heidecker, Will Forte, and the legend himself, Biff Wiff, while Vanessa Bayer, Steven Yeun, Andy Samberg, Bob Odenkirk, Paul Walter Hauser, Ayo Edebiri, Cecily Strong, Jason Schwartzman, Mike O’Brien, Fred Armisen, and Tim Meadows have appeared in single episodes.

Release Date

There’s no release date yet, but since The Chair Company is the current priority, it’s going to be a bit.

Anthony Davis’ Mavs Debut Was Both Proof Of Concept For Dallas’ Vision And Reason For Concern

anthony-davis-mavs-top
Getty Image

Almost exactly one week from the moment the NBA got shaken up by the most shocking trade in league history, Anthony Davis made his debut in a Dallas Mavericks uniform. The 10-time All-Star had missed the last two weeks with an abdominal injury, but prior to that he had been enjoying one of the best seasons of his career in Los Angeles, averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.1 blocks per game.

He arrived in Dallas with perhaps unfair pressure, as the Mavs had traded away their 25-year-old superstar to acquire him, Max Christie, and just one first round pick. For the trade not to be considered a complete catastrophe, the Mavs need to win at least one championship with the 31-year-old big man (and even then some Mavs fans will still not believe it to be enough return). Over the last week there have been countless words written about the trade and most of them have focused on what the Mavs got wrong. Right here I wrote about how the Mavs new front office and ownership betrayed the identity the franchise had spent so long building with the trade, and how they created an almost impossible situation for themselves in shortening their runway building around two stars in their early-30s and needing to deliver a title right now.

In all of those pieces, Davis has been something of an afterthought. There’s been acknowledgement of his skills and that he will likely allow Dallas to remain competitive, but no one has quite bought in to Nico Harrison’s insistence they were building a real title contender around his (and the team’s) defensive ceiling. On Saturday afternoon against the Rockets, the proof of concept for the Mavericks’ vision was on display, particularly in the first half when a highly motivated Dallas squad ran roughshod through the usually stingy Rockets defense, with Davis himself putting up outrageous numbers with 24 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks in the first 24 minutes.

The first play of the game saw Davis, now playing his preferred position of power forward, get a post touch and immediately throw a lob out of a double team to center Daniel Gafford. In the first 24 minutes of play, he terrorized the Rockets inside and out, hitting threes, muscling through defenders, and locking down on defense both in the post and on the perimeter. Davis led the team with 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks in his 31 minutes of work (before leaving late in the third with an injury), putting his full skillset on display. Christie added 23 points off the bench in 33 minutes, proving his value as a 3-and-D wing that can give Jason Kidd another option in the rotation and log major minutes. The two new additions made quite the opening statement in what figures to be an uphill battle to gaining a full embrace from the Mavericks faithful.

To the fans’ credit, they were not there to boo Davis or Christie (who had a spectacular game himself) and erupted over every big play and had the building rocking. They did make their fury known to Harrison and ownership, with a protest outside aimed at the teams’ decision-makers, but inside once the game was going on, it felt mostly like business as usual — just with a very different look.

While the Rockets would charge back in the third quarter to make it a close game (and show where the Mavs still have work to do in coming together to reach their full potential), Dallas was able to show how this can all work to make them a real threat in a fairly wide-open Western Conference. The two big lineups looked pretty good for Dallas, as Davis and Gafford didn’t seem to step on each others toes too often, and they were able to shift Davis to the five in smaller lineups to speed things up and give the other team a different look. Defensively, it was immediately apparent how the Mavs could be not just good but great. It certainly helps facing a Rockets team that has spacing issues, but the Mavs were able to wall off the rim with Davis and Gafford lineups and Davis showed his versatility to guard in space when switching, shutting off the Rockets water on multiple drives. There were some hiccups in communication, with Amen Thompson slipping free on the baseline for a few wide open finishes, but that is a matter of familiarity not ability.

On offense, things got a bit sticky in the second half, and it was clear that they will be at their best (at least in the immediate) when they can push the pace off of defensive stops while they figure out the halfcourt. That’s unsurprising given a major change in personnel and Kyrie Irving, in particular, seemed to be trying to figure out the new rhythm of the offense. The good news is, their defense looks like it will create plenty of stops and provide transition and semi-transition opportunities until they get totally comfortable on the other end. For most of three quarters, the Davis era in Dallas got off to an extremely promising start and showed Mavs fans what this group was capable of.

And then there was an all-too-familiar sight of Anthony Davis grimacing in pain and leaving the game late in the third quarter with what the team called a “lower body injury”. The Mavs would hold on in the fourth without their new star, who said he would be “fine” after the game, indicating his upper leg got “tight” and he couldn’t get it too loosen up. The hope is that will indeed be the case and he won’t have any lingering effects as he returns from an abdominal injury, but after Davis provided a reminder of his ability to dominate, his exit was a reminder of what has held him back.

The biggest question for this Mavericks team is going to be their ability to sustain. Davis and Irving are both capable of looking like the best player in the world at their positions for halves and even whole games, but what has kept them from fully stepping into the class of the elite of the elite is the ability to do that over and over again consistently. We saw that in this game from Davis, as he came out on fire looking to make a statement and did so with his dominant first half, but was more pedestrian in the third quarter before exiting with an injury. Last year’s playoffs saw Irving put forth some brilliant performances, scoring 30 or more seven times in 22 games, but also had eight games where he didn’t crack the 20-point mark. With Doncic is gone, Irving has a Herculean task on his hands in the Dallas backcourt, as evidenced by his 42 minutes logged on Saturday, and will need to find that peak with more regularity.

The Mavericks have built a team with the ceiling of a championship contender. At their best, Irving and Davis can control and dominate a game like very few can, but what will determine if the Mavs are ultimately successful in this bold and grand experiment is those two finding a consistent level of excellence. They have produced it before in championship runs. Somewhat poetically both did so playing alongside LeBron James, who is now teammates with the man the Mavericks suddenly exiled.

Now they have to do it together and take on that leading role. Saturday’s performance was reason to have some belief, but also a reminder of the fragility of this new arrangement.

What’s Popular On Streaming Now

applecidervinegar-1-lg
Netflix

Every single week, our TV and film experts will list the most important ten streaming selections for you to pop into your queues. We’re not strictly operating upon reviews or accrued streaming clicks (although yes, we’ve scoured the streaming site charts) but, instead, upon those selections that are really worth noticing amid the churning sea of content. There’s a lot out there, after all, and your time is valuable.

10. The PittMax series

Dr. Rabinavitch (Noah Wyle) is no mere one-dimensional TV doctor or idealistic fledgling physician, and that’s part of what makes The Pitt more than a mere ER retread. The looming feeling that this is also The Bear in a medical setting doesn’t hurt the show’s appeal, either. WBD hasn’t yet revealed if Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s emergency room will deliver another shift, i.e. a second season, yet, but this series has gone over so well that it’s hard to imagine Max leaving more on the table if cast and crew are game.

9. MarianneNetflix series

Never underestimate the power of horror to trend when real-world matters grow so stressful that stories about demons feel like a great way to immerse the psyche. Of course, that isn’t the only reason why this cancelled French horror series suddenly started trending on Netflix, but it’s gotta be part of the cause. The idea that writers can vanquish evil spirits is comforting, if only to imagine a sense of control over upsetting circumstances, but also, The Ring references will not stop, in case you’re wondering whether you should cover up your TV after watching this one.

8. Prime TargetApple TV+ series

Sure, this series has been largely panned, and it will not land on our list of best Apple TV+ shows, but it’s kind of a fascinating exercise in how streaming services are doing their best to squeeze into the spy-thriller resurrection. That is to say, Apple TV+ does an incredible job with both sci-fi, drama, and comedy series, but this show (even with Leo Woodall starring and Ridley Scott producing) feels like a permutation of what’s already streaming, only with prime numbers being a possible means of mass destruction.

7. ParadiseHulu series

Sterling K. Brown and Dan Fogelman are having a This Is Us reunion over on Hulu for a thriller series that could alternately scratch your escapism itch or feel too close to home. Without spoiling anything for the first three episodes already streaming, Brown portrays a security agent fronting a team that is tasked with protecting the president (James Marsden), but this show isn’t a meat-and-potatoes conspiracy story. Like This Is Us, expect non-linear storytelling that helps build context behind the overriding mystery of the series. A slower burn than many streaming series of the same nature helps this show stand apart, and the test for future seasons will be whether audiences will be patient enough without tidy explanations at every turn.

6. You’re Cordially InvitedPrime Video/Amazon movie

Reese Witherspoon still manages to be queen of the romcom in a time when romcoms are more miss than hit. Will Farrell stars in this story about two wedding parties that storm the same destination venue, and there really isn’t room for both parties to be comfy. As the relatives of the betrothed couple, Witherspoon and Farrell spend most of the movie making the audience wonder who will sabotage the other first, but chaos reigns supreme here in what’s essentially a fluffy movie meant as escapism.

5. InvinciblePrime Video/Amazon series

No rest for Mark Grayson. Steven Yeun’s superhero will enter his Blue Suit era (and possibly lean into darkness for real) this season while Walton Goggins’ Cecil will gain a backstory and completely lose Mark’s patience. This season should also deliver more of JK Simmons’ Nolan, and this series could grow positively cataclysmic ahead of the already renewed fourth season. The slow-burn aspect did drag the series down during the second season, and viewers will not be mad to see less teasing and more development. The same goes for House of the Dragon‘s pulled second season punches, so perhaps there’s a lesson there for the streaming future.

4. The RecruitNetflix series

Noah Centineo’s espionage thriller is trending at the same time as The Night Agent, but the two couldn’t be more different with their flavors of espionage. Centineo (as CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks) also seems thrilled to throw himself into potentially risky and definitely humiliating seasons for laughs, and it’s no wonder that the most recent trailer for this show made use of a well-known Green Day song to line up the physical comedy of Owen’s ability to land in the most dumbfounding scrapes while embroiled in a South Korea scandal. There’s a time and place for an actor who can laugh at himself, and this show has done marvelously at harnessing that vibe.

3. SeveranceApple TV+ series

Arguably, this week delivered the most intense episode that creator Dan Erickson and director Ben Stiller have offered up so far. Mark, Helly, the other Helly, Irving, and Dylan, will never find their dynamic to be the same again. This episode managed to outdo the weirdness of the goats-and-Gwendoline-Christie episode, and this season is also giving the most unexpected side stories (like Merritt Wever being such a centering force as Dylan’s wife), a well-written whirl. As for Milchick? Dude doesn’t get any kinder or more trustworthy with each passing moment.

2. The Night AgentNetflix series

All the adrenaline, all the action, and all the suspense over Peter’s status as Double Agent pales in comparison to the question of whether Rose will return for the third season of this ridiculously popular spy-thriller series. And you know what? That’s just fine. The next season has already begun filming in Istanbul, and maybe the first two chapters will be sitting on the Top 10 Netflix TV series list of all time when this show returns. The Night Agent is not without flaws, but Shawn Ryan knows how to make addictive television, and spin off news could be coming soon as well.

1. Apple Cider VinegarNetflix series

The internet must have been hankering for a new grifter show because the story of Belle Gibson’s tour of pathological-lying terror is upon us and perhaps trending too much. Super gross scene or not, this chronicle of two “wellness” influencers (Kaitlyn Dever as Gibson and Alycia Debnam-Carey as Milla Blake) is being swallowed whole, and the story of Gibson’s downfall echoes what happened when her followers learned that she faked a cancer diagnosis and not only spread her dangerous lies with her own popular app but profited handsomely as well. Fear The Walking Dead viewers who have missed Debnam-Carey will enjoy seeing her with new ferocity here, and Dever nails it.

The Lakers And Hornets Trade Of Mark Williams Fell Through Over Physicals

mark williams top
Getty Image

The Los Angeles Lakers made two big trades ahead of the NBA’s trade deadline, but only one of them, the Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis deal, will actually go through.

Late Wednesday night the Lakers made another splash by trading for Mark Williams of the Hornets to fill their vacancy at center. The Lakers sent a first round pick, a pick swap, and Dalton Knecht to Charlotte in the deal, as they made an aggressive move for Williams, assuming he would be their version of Dereck Lively II, who Doncic thrived with in Dallas. However, on Saturday, Williams did not appeared on the Lakers roster or injury report, and we learned why later that night as the teams announced the trade had been rescinded.

According to Bobby Marks, the deal was contingent on physicals being passed and since the deadline was already over, the trade couldn’t be amended. While the teams did not disclose the exact reason, the issue was reportedly Williams’ physical, per Shams Charania, as the Lakers failed it due to a few issues. Williams has had a number of injuries in the past that have limited him to 84 games played in his 2.5 seasons. There are some trades where physicals get waived, but this instance, with how much the Lakers were investing to make the trade, it was contingent on both players passing team physicals. With that not happening to the satisfaction of the Lakers, the trade has been rescinded and now one of the most awkward scenarios in sports will play out with Knecht returning to LA and Williams returning to Charlotte.

The Lakers now have to find a new answer for their center spot on the buyout market, while the Hornets traded for Jusuf Nurkic and figured to give him a chance to restore some value in the second half of the season with plenty of center minutes available.

Rick Ross and 50 Cent’s longtime beefs has reached another petty peak. Supporters of the recording artists have become numb to their constant jabs. Over the years, they taken shots at other on records, online, and in interviews. Now, Rick Ross will take their feud over into the world of film.

Yesterday (February 7), the “Champagne Moments” rapper took to Instagram to tease his Black Mafia Family (BMF) project. In a video (viewable here), Rick Ross told followers that he wants to produce a BMF film because 50 Cent’s BMF series on Starz is “lackluster.”

“I wanna do a BMF film because you’ve been entertained by a lackluster, small-budget series,” he said. “Now it’s time to do a big-budget film. Which director? Shout out to my homie F. Gary Gray. Antoine Fuqua, what’s up? Tarantino… there are a lot of legends. This is gonna be big, I can feel it.”

Ross’ declaration comes on the heels of 50 Cent threatening to cancel the series after Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory was spotted hanging with his forever foe. The BMF series chronicles Flenory meteoric rise in the illicit drug trade. Flenory’s son, Lil Meech (Demetrius Flenory Jr.), even serves as the lead actor.

With season four of the show previously announced, viewers are nervous about its future.

On February 5, hip-hop heavy weight Irv Gotti tragically died at 54 years old. Since then, fans and musicians alike have mourned the famed director, producer, and label executive.

Given Gotti’s close industry connections supporters expected a trail of tributes from many influential rappers. On the other hand, no one thought that his former Murder Inc. artist Ashanti would publicly address the sad news considering their rocky relationship. Still, the “I Got It” singer managed to put their past issues to the side in order to honor her past collaborator.

Over on Instagram, Ashanti paid tribute to Irv Gotti. View her full statement below.

I can’t believe things ended like this….and it makes me so sad… We weren’t on the best terms the past few years but as I’ve always said, through our ups and downs I will forever be grateful for everything that you’ve done for me. We made history and that will remain infinite… I’ve always respected your musical genius and ability to push me to be my best… All the greatness and positive things that came, far outweigh the dark and negative times. I have always prayed for you to find peace. Sending love and prayers to the entire family.

Rest well.

Rest in Peace Irv 🙏🏽🕊
