It seems like everybody wants a special relationship with regular guy Pete Davidson, including his co-star Colin Jost, as the two reportedly made a huge, life-altering milestone this week: they bought a ferry together.
The SNL pair reportedly bid $280,000 on a defunct ferry on Staten Island (not to be confused with the Staten Island Ferry) alongside comedy club owner Paul Italia. The group plan to turn the ferry into a live entertainment space with music, food, art, and more.
As the 5,200 person capacity ferry’s condition was listed with “mechanical issues,” it seems like any type of venue the group decide to make will be docked somewhere in the harbor. In other words, it doesn’t look like you will have to be trapped on a boat listening to novice stand-up comedians as you sail by the Statue of Liberty.
The ferry is supposedly an important staple in both Davidson and Jost’s lives: Davidson rode the ship to get to his early comedy shows, while Jost rode it to get to high school. As we know, Davidson is very attached to Staten Island, and even brought his rumored girlfriend Kim Kardashian to the borough last month, which is how you know it’s the real deal, since traveling to Staten Island is not for the faint of heart.
The Houston Texans are in the market for a new head coach after the team decided to fire David Culley after one year. Since they’re not exactly a franchise known for doing things conventionally — ex: they hired a guy and then fired him after one year — reports indicate that the Texans have given a pair of interviews to longtime journeyman quarterback Josh McCown.

It would be a pretty sizable risk for the franchise. McCown, who is 42, was on the roster in 2020 and interviewed for the job prior to Culley getting hired, but he has no coaching experience in college or high school. Despite that, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reports that the scuttlebutt around the league is that the Texans “really want” to make him their head coach.
The catch: They don’t want to be the only team that is interested in him. Per Florio, the hope in Houston is that someone else will talk to McCown with the hopes of legitimizing their interest.
The Texans apparently know they need more than a supportive tweet from one of G.M. Nick Caserio’s reporter-friends. They believe they need, as we hear it, another team to interview McCown in order to legitimate and normalize the notion of McCown going straight to the job of head coach, despite having no experience coaching college or pro football, in any capacity.
While it’s totally plausible that McCown would be a good head coach, having concerns over whether or not your decision will be viewed as legitimate is a pretty good sign that your process is not good.
It’s the most impossible mission of all: Mission: Impossible 7 hitting theaters.
The release date for the seventh installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise has been delayed yet again. It was originally supposed to come out on July 23, 2021, but then the film was pushed back to July 23, 2021… then November 19, 2021… then May 27, 2022… then September 30, 2022… and now, hopefully dear god I need this, July 14, 2023. Mission: Impossible 8 also has a new release date: June 28, 2024.
“After thoughtful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the ongoing pandemic. The new release dates will be July 14, 2023, and June 28, 2024, respectively. We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unparalleled theatrical experience,” Paramount and Skydance said in a statement.

This aged rum mixes well with everything in my opinion. Hints of orange peel and brown sugar really stand out. I feel that when I drink rum, I need a bit of a burn and this gives you that, right at the front of your palate.
I’m a big fan of Brugal 1888 for its lower-than-average sweetness and its sherry and bourbon cask aging. Produced in the Dominican Republic, 1888 still supplies the drinker with sugar cane sweetness and viscosity but avoids becoming overbearing and plays extremely well into classic formats.
I’ve been making a Manhattan riff this winter with Pusser’s Gunpowder in place of the whiskey and Lo-Fi Sweet Vermouth in place of Italian or French sweet vermouth. It’s much richer, so I dial up the Angostura Bitters to balance out the sweetness.

No color or sugar is added to this rum. This drinks easily even at that high proof, but a bit of water opens it up and reveals an exciting range of spice, fruit, and vanilla on the palate.
Mixing with it creates an intensely flavorful cocktail that you won’t soon forget.
Plantation O.F.T.D. can’t be beaten. I think the clove and molasses jump out at you. It’s complex enough for an aromatic cocktail but still flavorful enough to do sour as well. Plus, the high proof means that no matter what you add won’t water down or diminish the flavor of the rum itself.
Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva with deep vanilla, citrus, and molasses vibes is great in winter. This award-winning, rich, slightly spicy, bold aged rum is well-suited for mixing into your favorite rum drinks as well as a rum replacement for your go-to seasonal whiskey cocktails.

Try it in your next rum old fashioned or shake it up with some pineapple juice and cinnamon syrup for a great dark and stormy.
Bacardi Superior White Rum is still the standard-bearer as a consistent, well-made, blank slate rum best suited for mixing. Many others work as well but why mess with the best? The flavors of molasses, sugar cookies, and slight spice work well in a variety of wintry cocktails.

Old Monk Rum is my pick. Old Monk is such a fantastic rum. Flavors of bold vanilla bean, overripe banana, butterscotch, and warming molasses make it a beautiful addition to any winter cocktail.
I love John Emerald’s Spurgeon Rum from Opelika, Alabama. This is a really versatile rum for cocktails that does wonders for winter flavors like pecan, walnut, all-spice, and cinnamon, but also amazingly well with wintergreen, pine, and cranberry.
I like an overproof rum for its warming effects. Smith & Cross fits the bill perfectly. It’s great to enjoy neat or in a rum old fashioned. It’s got a funky flavor that I like with notes of banana and spice.

If I’m being honest, I mostly stick to whiskey for the colder months. But if I have to choose a rum, I go with Mount Gay Eclipse. The notes of banana, cinnamon, and caramel warm the palate almost instantly. It’s a fantastic rum for the price. It also works well in a rum take on an old fashioned or wintry eggnog.
Following the raving success of his debut album Kid Krow, Conan Gray is beginning to build the pieces of what comes next. Already scheduled to play at Coachella, today he just shared the new track, “Jigsaw,” his first music of 2022. It comes shortly before he’s set to embark on the “Conan Gray World Tour 2022” on March 1st.
“Jigsaw” is an electric tune from the pop star about being comfortable in one’s own skin. The guitar takes many shapes on the song and it’s a bombastic first entry of the year for Gray following last year’s singles “Telepath,” “Astronomy,” and “People Watching.”
He shared a statement on the meaning behind the song:
“I wrote jigsaw originally as a bit of a diary entry rant for myself. I’d spent my entire life contorting myself and changing everything I used to be in order to make everybody happy. I was so used to trying to please everyone that, when it came to love, I started to do the same. I thought maybe if I dress a certain way, act a certain way, do my hair the way you’ll like, then maybe you’ll finally love me. It didn’t work, obviously. By the end of it all it I ended up looking in the mirror and barely recognizing my rearranged and twisted reflection. I hope that jigsaw is a bit of a warning to people. That destroying yourself to win somebody’s love will only leave you empty on the other side. Because in the end, that person won’t love you, just the version of you that you made for them. Instead choose to become somebody that you love.”
The Jim Henson series Fraggle Rock debuted way back in 1983, and now, it has returned in 2022 via a reboot, as Fraggle Rock: Back To The Rock premiered on Apple TV+ today. Alongside the show, a soundtrack album is also out now and it features Foo Fighters playing a cover of “Fraggle Rock Rock,” which unsurprisingly features a harder rock edge than the original track. The original version of the song premiered in 1983 in “Wembley And The Gorgs,” the second episode of the initial Fraggle Rock series.
Aside from Foo Fighters, the soundtrack also features contributions from Ed Helms, Kenan Thompson, Patti LaBelle, Cynthia Erivo, and Daveed Diggs.

Nobody knows the road quite like comedians. Unlike your typical traveler, a comedian travels for work, not pleasure — which means they are less likely to hit up that crowded destination restaurant or bar, and more likely to hit the greasy spoon spots and dives that make our American cities truly unique. While the rest of us are using Yelp, comedians are the only people still operating on the Hobo Code and avoiding all the tourist traps as a result (unless for comedic purposes).
As Covid-19 restrictions continue to dominate our lives (!) it’s looking like whatever grand travel plans we made after getting vaccinated may have to be postponed again. But it’s never a bad time to hit the road solo (or with a small group of friends) and engage in some good old domestic travel (National Park, perhaps?). And who better to guide us than a working comedian who spends more time on the road than she does at home?
That’s why we hit up comedian Valerie Tosi for a nationwide guide to her favorite food spots. In addition to being an accomplished standup comedian, Tosi is a Second City trained actor, writer, and voice-over artist who has appeared on the Joel McHale Show, Conan, and IFC’s Stan Against Evil. She’s also the producer and host of The Mermaid Comedy Hour, the longest-running all-female comedy show at the Hollywood Improv.
Tosi’s debut comedy album, Beach Trash — in which she explores the pitfalls of being a comedian in your 30s and navigating the world of family, dating, travel, being “bad at bisexuality,” and making it through Covid — drops today and is available on Bandcamp, Apple Music, Spotify, and other streaming platforms. The first time I ever went out on the road, our final stop was NoLa. It remains near and drunkenly dear to my heart (I cherish the absolute chaos of Bourbon Street). When you get to the point of realizing you’ve had one Vieux Carre too many, head on over to Verti Marte in the French Quarter.
Don’t be taken aback by the drunk women sitting on the curb stuffing a po’boy into their face while they rest their high-heeled feet… Mainly because, at one point, I was one of them. I mean it when I say it was the best shrimp po’boy I’ve ever had in my life. You know it’s true because I dropped half of it on the ground and still ate it. Probably why Covid hasn’t gotten to me yet.
Do you love eating diabetic portions while burning your corneas from neon lighting? Welcome to the Peppermill! As an east coast dirtbag, my go-to breakfast order here and everywhere is corned beef hash and eggs. And yes, I prefer to eat the canned stuff like I’m rationing food in a 1970’s bunker.
During brunch hours, there’s always a wait, but it’s a blessing in disguise. Put your name on the list and head into the lounge where you can enjoy the ridiculous electric firepit while they play music videos on every TV. If you’re lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar, pop an Andrew Jackson in video poker and watch a stranger get absolutely wrecked on one of their 64-oz Scorpion Bowls.
There is nothing I love in this life more than good fried seafood. Being from Massachusetts, I was spoiled rotten with the best of the best. Salisbury is my very kitschy, touristy beach town. The proof is that Lena’s sign is a giant anthropomorphic whale with thick lips and long eyelashes. It’s very unsettling, and yet I would riot if they ever took it down.
The clam chowder is denser than hot fudge. Their onion rings are cornmeal battered, resulting in the tastiest little bastards you’ll ever have. I personally go big and get the Captain Hook; fried haddock, flounder, shrimp, clams, scallops, and smelts. You won’t be able to button your pants which is why most people don’t wear any and opt to eat in their bathing suits and oversized discount house t-shirts.
Alaska is WILD. Like, literally and figuratively. One of the locals told me, “You know a real Alaskan because they put tinfoil on their windows to keep the sun out.” So I’m sorry, what’s it like living inside a baked potato? I digress. After a night of staying at a self-proclaimed haunted hotel, I stumbled into Snow City Cafe looking for breakfast. I ordered a plate appropriately named “Deadliest Catch,” aka a benedict with one smoked salmon cake and one Alaskan king crab cake. Lemme tell you, that meal was better than seeing the northern lights and a baby moose combined.
Everything’s bigger in Texas. Including my appetite. After a night of debauchery, I was treated to an exquisite brunch (Translation: The pals I was crashing with paid because they have real people jobs). Hugo’s is authentic Mexican and pure perfection. We ordered a few different meals to share, but what is burned into my sense memory forever is the Huevos Poblanos. Seemingly simple, it’s poached eggs over sweet cornbread with asparagus and potatoes and some sort of magical sauce that has yet to be replicated. I yearn for it.
I ache for it. I refuse another human being’s sexual advances because all I can think about is that taste of transcendence.
I love sake. Currently, I have two big bottles of Kikusui in my fridge. So when I was asked to do shows at Denver Comedy Lounge in the back of Colorado Sake Co, I was sold. The comedy venue is incredible, but that’s not why we’re here. We are here because you can get locally brewed sake AND sake seltzers. You’ll need both to wash down the spice of the tuna and mango roll, which is TDF (that’s to die for, I’m creating my own acronyms now).
They also serve flights of their homebrewed sake, so both you and the tuna will be rolling out of there (I’m so sorry for that pun, it’s been a challenging year, okay?)
Look, we all know you don’t need another BBQ recommendation, so hang in there. Atlanta feels like a second home. My best friend Muretta lives there, and so do some of the funniest comedians in the country. On my first visit, she took me to an adorable little spot that looked like a creatively painted house from a distance. LottaFrutta describes their menu as “Pan-Latin,” because it’s influenced by several Latin backgrounds. Their colorful smoothies and fresh-cut fruit cups are the only reason I have not dehydrated while there.
The Just Veggin’ sandwich makes me forget that it’s 400* outside, even though I’ve had swamp-ass from the moment my flight touched down.
I recorded my album at The Comedy Attic in Bloomington because they are one of the best clubs in the country… But also because I was desperately craving The Owlery’s coconut macadamia tofu. I’m not a vegetarian (see: corned beef hash), but I enjoy eating vegetarian meals. This little local gem served as one of our favorite spots to hit up during the Limestone Comedy Festival.
Any place that is chill with letting a horde of obnoxious comedians take over their establishment are literal angels. Great, now I’m also craving their peanut veggie bowl. Jared, can I have a club weekend again asap?
The best part of standup comedy is that you’ll find yourself telling jokes pretty much anywhere that’ll let you. In 2019, I booked a gig at Merrymac Games and Comics (a fantastic indie comic and collectible shop that you should 100% support). To my absolute delight, there is a tiny diner just down the street called Charlie’s. Even though it shares the same name as my ex-fiancé, I decided to give them a chance. Two words, my friends: Meatloaf Omelet. Yeah, I know, I’m a weirdo but listen to me, that thing was aggressively huge. I ate almost the entire thing, plus a homemade biscuit slathered in butter.
NH’s state motto is “Live Free Or Die,” and I came pretty dang close.
Cheesesteaks get all the credit which is why I’m going to sing the praises of the fluffiest, borderline erotic banana pancakes known to man. Gold Standard is within walking distance to fellow funny pal Michelle Biloon. The pancakes are as big as the plate they come on and as thick as Gritty’s luscious fur. Their quiche is as much of a masterpiece as egg pie can be. So I order both and eat whatever I don’t finish an hour later like I’m trying to fatten up before hibernation.
Honestly, I eat there almost every morning like Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets. You probably won’t get that reference because I am very uncool and watch old people’s movies. That said, please do a wellness check if I start carrying bacon in ziplock bags.
Back when non-superhero movies had a chance at the box office, Knives Out made over $300 million and was nominated for an Academy Award. A big reason for the film’s success — besides it being really good, the power of Ana de Armas, and Chris Evans’ iconic sweater — was how rewatchable it is. As soon as the end credits hit, I wanted to watch the doughnut scene again. A few days later, I did exactly that (30 bucks of that $300 million is from me — you’re welcome, Rian), and it was as good the second time.
Varietyreports that the “hotly-anticipated sequel is expected to release in theaters and the streaming platform in the last quarter of 2022. In addition, the film is expected to also make a festival run before its release, although it’s unknown which ones it’s expected to debut at. With this added layer, we can expect the sequel to be a possible awards hopeful for Netflix next year.” Netflix released possible Best Picture contenders The Power of the Dog,The Lost Daughter, and tick, tick… BOOM! in the final fourth of 2021, so the streaming service has hope that Johnson can recapture the magic of the original.

When the lineup for When We Were Young Fest came out last week, every emo kid past, present, and future went bananas. How could they not when Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Bright Eyes, Bring Me The Horizon, Avril Lavigne, and Jimmy Eat World were all prominently featured on the single-day fest’s lineup? Tickets for the October 22nd music festival in Las Vegas went on sale this morning and they promptly sold out. But, showing that they really don’t want to see anyone sad, festival organizer Live Nation immediately announced a second day of the festival that immediately went on sale.
When We Were Young Fest’s Day 2 will be… err… Taking Back Sunday, so to speak. Sunday, October 23rd, that is, when the the same exact lineup will be gracing the stages of the Las Vegas Festival grounds.
“Due to overwhelming demand, a second date has been added to the When We Were Young Festival,” organizers said, which, judging by how viral the lineup and memes built around it were going on social media, the demand was obviously through the roof.
So yes, you’ll now have another chance to see all the acts including Dashboard Confessional, A Day To Remember, AFI, The Used, and more. But hurry, because tickets for the second day are on sale now, here.

A new batch of text messages released by the January 6 House select committee once again show that longtime Donald Trump ally Sean Hannity was well aware of the gravity of MAGA-fueled insurrection and tried repeatedly to get the administration to stop pushing the Big Lie that the election was stolen.
In the latest set of texts, Hannity reached out to White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and laid out a multi-point plan for how the administration should respond to the attempted coup. The Fox News anchor also warned that Trump has now put himself in danger of being impeached or removed from office and that the best course of action is to completely drop the election fraud business. Via The Hill:
“1- No more stolen election talk,” Hannity reportedly texted McEnany, who herself sat down with committee investigators last week after being subpoenaed.
Per the letter, he continued, “2- Yes, impeachment and the 25th amendment are real and many people will quit…”
McEnany reportedly responded “Love that. Thank you. That is the playbook. I will help reinforce…,” though it is unclear what else she may have said.
In another text, Hannity tells McEnany, “No more crazy people,” which she agreed with. “Yes, 100%,” she wrote back. Presumably, the crazy people are Trump’s bumbling legal team of Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, but their identities are not revealed in the texts.
Following this latest info dump from the House select committee, former Trump Homeland Security adviser Olivia Troye stopped by CNN on Thursday where she told Jake Tapper that it’s “stunning” to see how many people in Trump’s orbit knew the January 6 attack should’ve ended his presidency right then and there.
“I think it is important to get this evidence out there to the American people so that they can see that in the lead up in that situation, with Donald Trump, people knew,” Troye told Tapper via Raw Story. “People knew that this type of action was worthy of impeachment. It was worthy of the 25th Amendment. That these are actual discussions happening with people like Sean Hannity.”
