This past September, Eddie Vedder unveiled the new supergroup, The Earthlings, at his Ohana Festival in Southern California. Led by Vedder, the band consists of Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist Josh Klinghoffer, bassist Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction, guitarist/vocalist Glen Hansard, and guitarist/producer Andrew Watt. Now Vedder is gearing up to release his first solo album in a decade, Earthling, with this lineup of rock and roll demigods backing him on tour.
On “Brother From The Cloud,” the latest single from the project due out on February 11th, a slow build makes room for Vedder to explode with his signature, fiery vocals. As you’d expect, the unit operates tightly, almost as if they’ve been involved in high profile rock and roll for decades. But there’s more, Vedder also confirmed some juicy details about the album, namely that Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Ringo Starr will all make appearances on the album, along with Smith, Klinghoffer, and Watt. Nearly three years after he released his debut album The Lost Boy, Cordae is finally back with a new body of work. The young rapper returns with his sophomore effort From A Birds Eye View and it comes complete with 14 songs including “Today” with Gunna which he just shared with a new music video. In it, Cordae transitions back and forth between the past and present as he reflects on his youthful determination to overcome struggles in his life in order to put himself and his family in a better place. It also captures him recording music with friends while Gunna joins him on the roof of a building to brag about their current successes.
From A Birds Eye View arrives with additional guest features from Lil Wayne, HER, Lil Durk, Freddie Gibbs, Stevie Wonder, Nas, Eminem, Roddy Ricch, and Ant Clemons. Cordae promoted the project with a fiery LA Leakers freestyle, a performance of “Sinister” and “Chronicles” on The Tonight Show, and a freestyle over Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 4.”
As for Gunna, the track arrives after he updated his DS4EVER album with “P Power,” his long-awaited collaboration with Drake.

Last year proved to be exciting and successful years for both Blxst and Wale. The former reaped the benefits of his No Love Lost project throughout 2021 in addition to teaming up with Bino Rideaux for Sixtape 2. Blxst also made appearances on The Tonight Show and on the 2021 XXL Freshman class list. As for Wale, he released his Folarin II album, one that proved to be a well-executed sequel to his 2012 mixtape. Now, for the first time ever, the two artists are bringing their talents together for a new song. Thanks to some help from producer Murda Beatz, the trio unite for “One Shot.”
On the new song, Wale and Blxst offer a woman one chance to join them and reap the benefits of their lavish lifestyles. While the duo extends a hand to the woman in question, they also note that they’ll be okay with or without her. The new track arrives after Murda Beatz teamed up with West Coast rapper Shordie Shordie for their Memory Lane project last year. It presented 12 songs with a lone feature from Trippie Redd.
As for what’s next, fans can expect more music from Murda Beatz who produced for Chloe Bailey, EST Gee, Nardo Wick, and more in 2021. Wale kicked off his Under A Blue Moon Tour earlier this week and he’ll continue to tour the country until early March. Lastly, Blxst will continue to release new music, with his last being the romantic “About You,” as he’ll hopefully have a new project to treat us with at some point this year.

Sometimes the most unexpected collaborations are the best ones. That just might be the case for a new song from left-field queer pop star King Princess that dropped tonight, featuring Uproxx cover star Fousheé, who leans much more R&B. “Little Bother” goes a little bit harder than some of KP’s mellower stuff, and that might actually be a preview of what the rest of her second album is going to sound like. According to King Princess, aka Mikaela Straus, their second album is basically done and in the mixing stage.

The song is a reflection on a relationship where Strauss sings about feeling like “a little bother,” and Fousheé takes the second verse, offering up a similar lament. Though it’s not quite clear if the song is on the next King Princess album, or just a loosie for fans to enjoy while they wait, it’s an excellent piece of dark pop that bodes well for the new project. Raveena is a rare Indian-American voice that’s emerging in pop and R&B. Her heavenly delivery has helped her stand out since the release of her dashing 2019 debut, Lucid, and she’s beginning to unfold the next chapter in her career. Having just signed to Warner Records, Raveena’s latest single, “Rush” meets at the intersection of sweet, sensual R&B, with the sounds of her Indian roots.
The technicolor-soaked video for “Rush,” in fact opens with Bollywood-like choreography as Raveena muses in a song that came to her in an acid trip at a museum exhibition on Eastern sound. An Indian tabla drum steps into the middle of the song and carries the groove into a cinematic second movement. Raveena shed some light on what she’s beginning to build on this next step of her sound:
“I wrote ‘Rush’ a couple years back and the song was the genesis of me exploring a more intense marriage between Bollywood sounds and the pop/R&B music that I grew up on in America. The song and video are centered around a character I created named Asha, a Punjabi space princess who is transported to a distant planet and learns highly advanced spiritual intelligence from the beings that live there. In the video that I co-directed with Munachi, I wanted to create a campy ode to the colorful 80’s Bollywood movies and 70’s Western sci-fi movies that I’m obsessed with, complete with a choreographed dance sequence alongside Asha’s alien friends.”

NLE Choppa is just a week away from dropping his second album, Me Vs. Me. It’ll be the Memphis native’s first body of work since his 2020 mixtape, From Dark To Light, a project that followed his debut album Top Shotta which arrived earlier that year. So far, NLE Choppa has been releasing singles at a steady rate and his latest one pairs him with fellow Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo. Together, the rapper bring their talents together for “Too Hot,” an determined single that showcases the focused energy the respective artists can bring to the table at a given moment.
“Too Hot” arrives after NLE Choppa teamed up with Polo G for a video to their “Unapologetic” track, a record that served as their second collaboration in as many months after they united for “Jumpin.” NLE Choppa also channeled his inner Santa for a holiday-themed video for “Drop Sh*t.”
As for Moneybagg Yo, the song arrives after he teased an upcoming collaboration with Kanye West. He also revealed his skin has been glowing ever since he quit drinking lean. Elsewhere, he granted the music world videos to “Scorpio” with Ja’niyah,” “Switches & Dracs” with Lil Durk and EST Gee, and “One Of Dem Nights” with Jhene Aiko.

At long last, Earthgang will share their second album Ghetto Gods at the end of the month. It’s a project that the Atlanta duo has teased for more than a year now. They originally said it would drop last spring, on the same day as J. Cole’s The Off-Season, but that day came and went without the project. While that might’ve been a disappointment to fans, Earthgang did a great job sharing tracks along the way to numb the wait. Their latest release, “All Eyes On Me,” serves as their latest example of that.
The track finds the duo acknowledging the many eyes that might be on them as both successful musicians and Black men in America. Earthgang also takes a moment to celebrate those who pushed past their respective struggles and came out on top. Prior to releasing the new single, Earthgang shared a message about “All Eyes On Me” on social media. “In this world, black men are targets, political targets, physical targets, always criticized and judged by their appearance, the chains, the money, the skin,” they wrote. “All eyes are on us yet we still shine.”
Last month, Earthgang released “American Horror Story.” The track is carried by a woozy, somber sample as the duo detailed some of the most shocking aspects of American history from as far back as slavery to as recent as the “tiki torch” rallies of white nationalist groups. Together, “American Horror Story” and “All Eyes On Me” provide great previews of what’s to come on Ghetto Gods.

When many drinkers think about wheat beers, they imagine hazy, humid summer days — sun-filled scorchers where an unfiltered wheat beer adorned with a slice of orange is as appealing to the eye as it is to the palate. But wheat beers aren’t solely for the summer months. There are wheat beers for every season, from bold, dark wheat beers to hopped wheat beers to warming, spiced wheat beers perfectly suited to the dead of winter.
Samantha Montgomery, beverage specialist and national brand ambassador for the Bardstown Bourbon Company in Bardstown, Kentucky prefers her winter wheat beers to be hazy and unfiltered.
“Hefeweizens are known for typically carrying notes of banana and clove,” she says, “but I tend to get a creamy nuttiness that I just associate with the winter season.”
Montgomery isn’t the only bartender or bar professional who enjoys wheat beers in winter. So we asked a handful of them to tell us the one wheat beer they’ll be drinking this season. Read on for some top-notch selections!

Rhinegeist Snowcat is the pour of choice this winter. With a slight ginger zip on the back of the palate, it’s super refreshing for when a stout or porter isn’t what you’re in the mood for.
One of my favorite classic wheat beers is Brewery Ommegang’s Witte Beer. It’s a traditional Belgian-style white ale. The bright citrus flavors remind me of warmer days. It pairs well with spicy chili on a winter afternoon.

I discovered Fancy Little Holiday Shindig from Pipeworks Brewing in Chicago while I was in the city over Thanksgiving. My favorite winter wheat beer is Allagash White. The coriander really stands out in this beer. There’s a nice hint of orange peel and a nice, beautiful hazy color. It’s definitely not just a summer beer.

Tröegs Dreamweaver is my pick. There are orange, citrus, and spiced notes. This 4.8 percent ABV year-round beer is unfiltered, hazy, yeasty, and has just the right amount of tangy flavor to pair with the wintry spices.
If looking for the best winter wheat beer, look no further than High Point Ramstein Winter Wheat. I’ve had it once and it has notes of spices, caramel, and chocolate richness. The only downside is that it is difficult to find.

It’s the first winter wheat beer I ever had, so it’s more of a sentimental choice, but I can’t help but order Anchor Winter Wheat whenever I see it in the winter months. It’s nutty with hints of dark fruit but finishes clean.
I also love that some of the wheat used in brewing is sourced from a biodynamic farmer near the brewery.
Sometimes in the middle of winter, you need to be reminded that sunshine is soon to come and that is exactly was Funky Buddha Brewery accomplished with their German-style wheat beer, Floridian. The aromas of bananas and grapefruit will make you want to fly south for the winter and try the Floridian in the sunshine state itself.
My favorite winter wheat beer is definitely Blue Moon Belgian White. The grain bill for Blue Moon includes malted barley, white wheat, orange peel, coriander, and oats. Add a slice of citrus (likely an orange slice) for a rich flavor.

Weihenstephaner Vitus is my all-time favorite in this category. Not just for the flavor, but I literally paid my rent with that beer for a few winters by upselling it behind the bar. As a Weizenbock or a strong wheat bock, it’s everything I love about a German wheat beer condensed into a tighter package with banana bread, spice, clove-ish yeast notes.
I have to go to Belgian for this one. I love Kasteel Winter from Ingelmunster, Belgium. It’s a Belgian strong ale but its big, wheaty, vanilla notes make this a go-to for winter imbibing.
UFO creates a Winter Blonde that hits out of the park. This Massachusetts-made American wheat ale has the perfect balance of subtle vanilla sweetness and hints of cold brew coffee. There’s nothing more satisfying than cracking open one of their crisp beers on a bone-chilling winter day.
When it comes to wheat beers one of my all-time favorites is the Weihenstephan Hefe Weissbier. It’s relatively light bodied with subtle citrus notes and a beautifully delicate hint of banana.
JID has spent the past two years working on his upcoming album, The Forever Story. He seemed ready to release it in 2020, but uncertainty behind sharing a project during a pandemic caused the rapper to hold off on its release as he revealed during a string of tweets that year. “I’m tryna line it up perfect cuz it’s hard to create in uncertain times,” he wrote. The following year, he teased the project once again by sharing in-studio shots with collaborators like 6lack, Buddy, Denzel Curry, Rico Nasty, and Smino. This year, it seems like the cards have fallen in the right place for the arrival of The Forever Story.
JID kicks off his 2022 campaign with his brand new single, “Surround Sound.” The track features contributions from 21 Savage and Baby Tate for what amounts to a hard-hitting release. JID leads the way with a quickfire verse that sits perfectly over the song’s thumping production. 21 Savage checks in for a menacing verse and Baby Tate closes out the first half of the song with fluttering vocals to bring those to an end. JID then returns to lay another cut-throat to conclude his grand return. The single also arrives with a matching video that captures JID, 21 Savage, and Baby Tate out on the prowl for some late-night fun.
Joey Badass’ sophomore album, All Amerikkkan Badass, will turn five years old this month. It’s a strong project that showed his upward progression following his 2015 debut B4.Da.$$, but since then, Joey hasn’t delivered a full-length body of work to the world. His last release was his 2020 EP The Light Pack which featured three songs and a guest appearance from Pusha T. With that being said, it seems like this year could finally bring us a new Joey Badass album. The rapper kicks off his 2022 campaign with his new single, “The Revenge.”
The new track is equal parts bashful and triumphant as Joey makes his grand return with a big statement: “B*tch, I’m really really out for blood this time.” The song continues with Joey celebrating his wins how his recent success is the best revenge for his haters. “The Revenge” arrives after Joey confirmed that his third album will arrive at some point this year. “The album dropping this year for sure… for sure, for sure,” during a recent livestream on Instagram. “I ain’t gonna say exactly when though cause there’s certain rappers who be on my heels. So imma just — it’s coming though.”
Outside of music, Joey has been making a name for himself in the acting world thanks to appearances in Grown-ish, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Two Distant Strangers, which won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.
