What a week. We received the revelation that Borat 2 star Rudy Giuliani, who’s been shunned by the legal community and much of the world after pushing the Big Lie, took a gig on The Masked Singer. Judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke were so upset that they stormed offstage, according to Deadline, which also noted that the Season 7 taping will head to air in March. So, we have to wait too long to find out Rudy’s costume, but he will never surpass Sarah Palin dressed as a bear and rapping, “Baby Got Back.”

The harsh daylight saw TV news hosts struggling to believe what they’d heard, and of course, The Daily Show unveiled some “leaked” footage, but Jimmy Kimmel laid out the reasons why he’s not surprised. In short, we all should have seen this coming, even if Rudy may not have realized where he was:

“Why would Rudy even agree to do this? Did he think he was going to ‘The Masked Singer Landscaping Company?’ Only Rudy Giuliani would try to overthrow their government, break wind loudly in court, have another one next to a dildo store – and then try to rehabilitate his image by singing ‘Shake Your Groove Thing’ dressed as a pineapple.”

Kimmel did, however, have harsh words for Fox for not even questioning the bad look here. “A lot of people at Fox had to sign off on this,” the late-night host declared. “Not one of them was like, ‘Hey, maybe we shouldn’t have the guy who is under investigation for helping to plot an insurrection signing on our show?’” And maybe that’s why the Fox News people have stayed largely quiet on the subject. Awkward!

A 30-second spot during Super Bowl LVI between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams is going for as much as $6.5 to $7 million. How much is that in bitcoin? Lindsay Lohan, the Mean Girls actress who has pivoted towards cryptocurrency (and pissing off the Furries), appears in the Super Bowl spot for Planet Fitness, along with William Shatner, Dennis Rodman, Buzzy Cohen, and Danny Trejo.

“People are wondering, what’s gotten into Lindsay?” the commercial asks while Lohan works out. She’s killing it on Jeopardy! (featuring a generic voice as the host); she’s making the paparazzi cry by sleeping better than ever; and she’s traded “DUIs for DIYs,” which has to be the first DUI joke in Super Bowl ad history. “Maybe it’s not what’s gotten into Lindsay,” Shatner says with Kirk-like wisdom, “it’s what Lindsay’s gotten into.”

Besides hitting the elliptical, Lohan has also gotten into Netflix’s Christmas empire. The streamer’s 2022 preview includes a peek at Falling for Christmas, which follows “a spoiled hotel heiress who gets total amnesia in a skiing accident and finds herself in the care of a handsome lodge owner.” I would pay $6.5 to $7 million to watch it right now.

During Donald Trump‘s time in office, Lindsey Graham was routinely mocked for his blatant sucking up to the former president particularly in light of the fact that Graham’s longtime best friend, the late Senator John McCain, was not a fan of Trump, to put it mildly. So it’s fascinating to see MAGA world turn on Graham on a dime in recent weeks. This time around, Donald Trump Jr. went on Newsmax and blasted Graham for saying that January 6 rioters shouldn’t be pardoned after the elder Trump promised to do so if reelected. Don Jr. went so far as to call Graham “weak,” but he still likes the guy, whatever that’s worth.

“I think my father hit it right,” Trump Jr. said. “I like Lindsey, I think he’s a funny guy, he’s got a good personality, but in the Senate, he’s a RINO. I like him personally, but in terms of government, he’s going to roll over every time, and that’s unfortunate because we’ll be right on the issues, and so many Republicans — the weak, establishment Republicans – will roll over each and every time. I think we need to elect people that won’t do that. Unfortunately, the Senate is filled with a lot of Republicans that way.”

After all of Graham’s groveling to Trump, this is his reward. The former president’s son is calling the senator a soft wimp on TV directly on the heels of Steve Bannon accusing Graham of being a “traitor” who’s secretly working with Joe Biden. It’s like watching a mob movie play out in real time. “Never speak against the family, Lindsey…”

A couple months ago, some fresh Dr. Dre music popped up on GTA Online as part of a new story, “The Contract,” in which Dre himself was an actual in-game character. Snoop Dogg called it “great f*cking music” and now fans can more easily judge for themselves, as the tunes are available on streaming platforms starting today.

Among those is “Gospel,” a collaboration with Eminem. Both rappers come through with some standout lyrics, like when Dre appears to address his recent divorce settlement by saying, “Lookin’ for my next gold digger / This summer here gon’ be colder than winter.” Meanwhile, Eminem flexes some of his classic wordplay with lines like, “B*tch, I’m badder than cake mix,” and, “Yeah, and me and Dre are like dog hair / We’re both in our lab coats like retrievers.”

Aside from the Eminem collaboration, among the new Dre GTA songs is “Black Privilege”; “Diamond Mind” with Nipsey Hussle and Ty Dolla Sign; “ETA” with Snoop, Busta Rhymes, and Anderson .Paak; “The Scenic Route” with Rick Ross and .Paak; and “Fallin Up” with Thurz and Cocoa Sarai.

March 11, 2020, is generally considered the beginning of the pandemic, at least in the United States. That was the day that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson revealed they tested positive for COVID-19; the NBA season shut down; and then-president Donald Trump halted travel from Europe to America. But those weren’t the worst thing to happen on March 11, 2020. No, the worst thing to happen was “Bear Is Revealed As Sarah Palin.”

Where were when you saw Sarah Palin rap “Baby Got Back” while dressed as a bear on The Masked Singer? Probably at home, because, again, pandemic. The Fox singing competition series didn’t face much backlash for inviting the “speak American” politician onto the show (we were all preoccupied that night), but it is now after Deadline reported that Rudy Giuliani was “unmasked as an exiting costumed contestant” during a taping last week, prompting judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke to leave the stage in protest.

While Jeong and Thicke exited (they eventually returned), fellow judges Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger remained onstage. They bantered with Giuliani, a controversial figure for pressing what is widely derided as a baseless claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from his client Donald Trump.

Deadline declined to reveal what costume Giuliani wore (imagine how much sweat must be in that thing, let alone the cigar smell), but The Daily Show has a solid prediction for how the performance went. “TRIAL BY COMBAT.” You can watch it below.

The indie world is nothing if not ripe for conversation. This week’s episode of Indiecast has Steve and Ian discussing HitPiece, the new NFT music platform that didn’t get permission from any artist to host their music, the release week drama for Black Country, New Road, and the arrival of a new song from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The meat of this week’s episode features Steve and Ian’s reviews of new records from Mitski and Animal Collective. While Mitski’s latest album Laurel Hell is a pivot to pop that still seems to feel weighed down by the overbearing Mitski stans, Animal Collective’s Time Skiffs is their first album in six years, and the rare “comeback album” that actually feels like a rewarding return to form from a veteran indie band. How do both albums hold up in the artists’ catalogues? Listen to find out.

James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” segment on The Late Late Show has produced some memorable music moments over the years. Perhaps the most beloved among them is when Adele rapped Nicki Minaj’s verse from Kanye West’s “Monster,” a viral moment that helped the Adele “Carpool Karaoke” episode become easily the most-watched video on the Late Late Show YouTube channel, with over 252 million views as of today. Well, Minaj was on Corden last night, and while there, she returned the favor by showing of her impression of Adele.

The two re-watched Adele’s rap and then Minaj offered a reaction, saying, “First of all, It’s Adele. Second of all, it’s ‘Monster.’ You guys made such an amazing freaking tag team, by the way. I never got to tell you that. That made my day, my year. I probably got a thousand phone calls about that one thing.”

Corden then asked Minaj what her Adele impersonation sounds like, and Minaj replied by doing an Adele voice and explaining her thought process behind achieving the nuanced impression:

“Alright, in order for me to channel Adele, I sort of have to think like a Black lady in London, right? Because the thing is, normally, everybody knows, my British accent is sort of like a posh white lady, a rich white lady, right? But with Adele, I sort of have to, like, transform, like she might have used to sell crack. Like maybe she used to be hustling, like nickels and dimes in the hood, and then she got her big break. That’s what I see when I see her, like she’s always… it’s so expressive, right?”

Cobra Kai continued to crane-kick the generation gap with Season 4 in such a way that we get to see O.G. characters as squabbling, soap-opera senseis while the younger characters are the ones keeping reality (outside the dojos) together. One of those characters would be Tory Nichols (portrayed by Peyton List), who has made many bullying turns (particularly against Daniel LaRusso’s daughter, Samantha) but has worked toward redemption and nearly achieved that goal by the Season 4 finale. What’s next for Tory when Season 5 arrives?

Well that depends on how she reacts to this gut-punch.

That’s the moment when Tory realized that Terry Silver bribed an All Valley Tournament rep into making a call (against Samantha) that set her up to win that trophy. Tory thought she earned the trophy, fair and square, but if one goes back and looks at the referee calls, one was definitely iffy, and it happened so quickly that everyone let it go. Except that now, Tory probably won’t be able to let it go.

Tory’s had a rough go of things, for sure. She supports her whole family by working odd (and humiliating) jobs while, in comparison, most of her peers (other than Hawk, who lost his righteous hair) have a relatively easy time simply attending high school. She might even decide to bolt from the dojo, and if she does so, I hope this is what comes next:

Following the framing of John Kreese by super-karate-villain Terry Silver, Kreese will be stuck in jail on charges of aggravated assault and attempted murder. Silver had forced Stingray (Paul Hausser) to make these allegations against Kreese, even though Silver was the one who did the horrible deed. Tory, however, could help fix things — perhaps there’s surveillance footage, and Tory could discover it while looking for dirt against Silver? — and spring Kreese from the joint.

If this happens, it would help complete Tory’s redemption arc, and it wouldn’t seem out of the blue for this to happen. After all, Kreese is the only adult who stepped up to support Tory during her awful home life. Kreese even went to Daniel’s wife, Amanda, and told her that Tory is actually a decent person who’s been trapped in terrible circumstances. So, it would make sense for Tory to want to help Kreese defend himself against those criminal charges. Then maybe they can both put an end to Terry Silver’s reign and start a completely new dojo. Because hey, one can never have too many dojos in this show.

Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai’ is currently streaming the first four seasons on Netflix.

Conway the Machine is just a few weeks away from releasing his next album, God Don’t Make Mistakes. The project will be his first album since 2020’s From King To A God. That project was one of many albums that Griselda released over the course of that year including Westside Gunn’s Pray 4 Paris and Benny The Butcher’s Burden Of Proof. Ahead of the arrival of God Don’t Make Mistakes, Conway, Westside, and Benny bring their lyrical talents together for “John Woo Flick.” On the track, the Griselda trio goes to work by showcasing their top-notch lyricism over the song’s haunting production.

This year could prove to be another big one for the Griselda crew. Their first offering will be Conway’s God Don’t Make Mistakes which is set to arrive on March 25. Next up will most likely be Benny’s Tana Talk 4. While a release date for that project has yet to be revealed, the rapper recently shared its latest single, “Johnny P’s Caddy” with J. Cole, so the project may arrive sooner than later. As for Westside Gunn, it remains to be seen if he’ll deliver a project this year as he dropped off the double-disced Hilter Wears Hermes 8 last fall. That project came after he released Pray 4 Paris and Who Made The Sunshine in 2020.

God Don’t Make Mistakes is out 3/25 via Shady/Interscope.

This past November marked one year since Chicago rapper King Von was shot and killed at a nightclub in Atlanta. Von’s death occurred during his rise in the hip-hop world, which was boosted by his 2020 project, Welcome To O’Block. Since his death, Von has been honored in multiple ways — especially by Lil Durk, who often referred to him as “twin.” As for music from the latter rapper, most of his releases have come in the form of guest features, but today that changes with Von’s latest single.

Von and 21 Savage join forces for “Don’t Play That.” The track serves as another example of Von’s straight-to-the-point raps which left little to no room for any fun or games. It’s this approach that makes 21 Savage a perfect guest for the song as he provides cut-throat bars for his verse on the song. Prior to this single, King Von made a posthumous appearance on the F9 tracklist after his estate released videos for “Mine Too,” “Jump,” and “Armed & Dangerous.”

As for 21 Savage, he recently joined JID and Baby Tate for “Surround Sound.” That collaboration arrived after he ended 2021 with two new songs: “No Debate” and “Big Smoke.” Additionally, Savage also declared that it’s time for a new album which should come as good news to his fans.
