Earlier this year Charli XCX let fans know that despite putting together one of the best albums of her career in a few short weeks during quarantine, she had another full-length project on the way. Slated for 2022, she’s described the record as “sexual and demonic,” and shared a few previews of new music with the world, including the massive lead off single, “Good Ones,” which is a classic, dark pop song, and “New Shapes” a collaboration with Christine And The Queens and Caroline Polachek.

With that most recent collab, she shared that the new record will be called Crash, and is coming March 18, 2022. Realistically, that’s not very fair away, especially considering how fast the last few weeks of the year always goes. But in the meantime, instead of another new single, Charli has teamed up with one of indie’s best producers, Perfume Genius, and offered up a remix of the song that completely changes the tone. On Twitter, here’s how the producer described his approach: “My remix of @charli_xcx out now went very Sunn O))) Blade 2 Queen of the Damned Trent Reznor is 5’7”

First off, Perfume Genius, aka Mike Hadreas, pitch-shifted the vocals so they sound more masculine, deeper and booming, and stripped back most of the bright pop sound so only the booming percussion and colossal synths remain. It’s one of the most remixes/reworks I’ve heard in a minute, check it out above.

Following the revival of Sex and the City (product placement backfire aside), HBO is reportedly looking to bring back another of its acclaimed original series: Six Feet Under. The project is in “very early development,” to the point where there’s no definitive word on which direction the series will go or who will be writing it or what it will be about. However, Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball will be guiding the ship, wherever it goes or does not go. Via Variety:

At this time, no writer is attached to the project. Likewise, no plotline has been decided, meaning it could be a reboot or more of a sequel series following up on existing characters from the show in the present day, but no decision has been made. Original series creator Alan Ball and executive producers Bob Greenblatt and David Janollari are all attached to executive produce the new project.

Running for five seasons from 2001 to 2005 during the Golden Age of HBO when shows like The Sopranos, Deadwood, and The Wire were dominating pop culture discourse and sweeping awards show, Six Feet Under was another critical darling starring Peter Krause and Michael C. Hall. More notably, the show is considered to have one of the best series finales of all time, which reportedly left Ball in tears while writing it. Which makes the decision to bring it back a little… confusing. But we digress.

“I remember when I wrote this episode I cried,” Ball told the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016 (via Entertainment Weekly). “Pretty much the last four episodes, people were crying all the time. But it was good. It was grief. It was letting go of something, and I think it informed the show in a way that was very organic because the show was about people who help us to face our grief. It was pretty cathartic.”

Noted feline enthusiast Billy Corgan downright LOVES cats. The Smashing Pumpkins leader famously appeared on the cover of Paws Chicago Magazine in 2014, and then apparently had to defend his decision to do so when Anderson Cooper audaciously called out the rock star? Not Cooper’s finest moment, but I digress. Speaking of Paws Chicago, Corgan and his partner Chloé Mendel work with the Chicago-area no-kill animal shelter regularly (the whole family appeared on the cover of the magazine in 2018) and have just announced their latest effort.

To raise money for Paws, Corgan and Mendel have joined forces with personalized celebrity video platform Cameo. They’re offering 100 video messages at a rate of $250/each (or $4,500 for a business). 100 percent of the proceeds go towards Paws Chicago, so that means, assuming all 100 slots are filled, they’ll be donating at least $25,000 (shout out to all the math majors out there who didn’t need a calculator to figure that out).

They recorded a Cameo promo clip, which you can watch here, from the coffee house they own in Chicago, Madame ZuZu’s. The description indicates that “for every Cameo purchased, you will also get a mystery prize! One of the gifts may be something special courtesy of Reverend Guitars.” There’s also two “Acoustic Xmas song videos” offered up at the business price. The campaign launched today and at press time, 21 of the 100 cameos were already purchased. So if you like The Smashing Pumpkins and have a Billy Corgan-like affinity for cats (or dogs), this might be for you.

It’s 3 a.m. You’re in bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep. What thoughts are swirling around your mind? Maybe they’re about overdue bills, or a big meeting with a boss, or if you’re Zendaya, that Tom Holland might drown in vomit in his Spider-Man suit.

The Emmy-winning actress has for years voiced her worry for Holland’s wellbeing. “You know what I think about all the time that really scares me? Is like, when he wears that thing, the mask that you can’t just take off, because it’s all like one piece, I get scared all the time, like, what if he’s working so hard that he throws up, and then he can’t, he chokes! I think about it all the time! That’s really scary,” she said in 2019. She brought up her super-specific fear again on The Graham Norton Show last week.

Does Holland have the same level of concern?

“It’s quite a legitimate fear. When I’m in the suit and I’m in the full thing, if you were to throw up in the suit, you would effectively drown,” he told the Hollywood Reporter. Holland then relayed a story about getting trapped under a fake rock while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming and having water drip into his mask, which he described as “waterboarding myself.”

Find yourself a partner who cares for you as much as Zendaya cares about Tom Holland not suffocating in vomit.

Olivia Rodrigo became a global superstar in 2021, so naturally, her upcoming 2022 tour has been hotly anticipated. She announced the run of dates a few days ago, and when tickets went on sale today, many fans were left frustrated when they were unable to get any.

After the tickets went on sale, many fans were met with messages about “technical difficulties,” as Business Insider notes, presumably due to overwhelming demand. Indeed, some venues on Rodrigo’s schedule may seem small relative to her level of fame and the level of anticipation for the tour. For example, New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre both have a capacity of around 6,000 people. Furthermore, fans were further angered when they saw that resellers were quickly trying to flip Rodrigo tickets for thousands of dollars.

Naturally, fans took to Twitter to vent their frustrations, so much so that Rodrigo has been a trending topic on Twitter for a good portion of the day.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo recently spoke about how inspired she was by a Lorde concert she went to, saying, “I remember going and seeing Lorde’s Melodrama [tour] at the Staples Center, with two of my friends that I’ve grown up with since I was in elementary school, and just balling my eyes out at the experience that she created. She cultivated this whole experience and you could just feel it in your body. The visuals and the sounds and the everything just heightened the album so much for me, and I remember walking out of the Staples Center and being like, ‘I wanna like cultivate an experience for someone like that.’ That’s just like the highest form of art to me, a concert.”

Steve Kerr‘s only coaching job in the NBA has been as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors. It’s been hard to call his tenure anything other than an unmitigated success — he’s won a whole lot of games and three NBA championships, along with a gold medal as an assistant coach that he was able to parlay into a job coaching Team USA.

It can get lost to history that Kerr taking over the Warriors as they searched for a coach was not a given thing. At the time, Kerr had the option to head to the Bay Area or coach the New York Knicks, which were run by his old coach with the Chicago Bulls, Phil Jackson. During an appearance on The Problem with Jon Stewart, Kerr explained some of his rationale for turning down Jackson’s offer to head to Golden State.

“I talked to coaching friends of mine, and they all said the same thing, they said, ‘Your talent is everything in coaching,’” Kerr said. “And it’s true. I remember saying Phil Jackson is my guy, and one of my good friends said, ‘Which job do you think Phil would take?’ I was like, ooh, man, and that kinda got me. Because think about it: Phil Jackson takes the Bulls job when he’s got Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and his career takes off. Pat Reilly takes the Laker job when he’s got Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. We’re all dependent on our talent as coaches, and the Warriors were already good — they were a 50-win team, they’ve got all this young talent.”

Kerr went on to say that if he did, indeed, decide to join the Knicks, he believes he “would have been spun through that cycle and been gone in two years, guaranteed.” He might be onto something, because since 2014, New York has had four full-time head coaches.

Inside or outside, you just can’t seem to get warm. This characteristic of yours manifests itself in extra blankets, wild heating bills, and enough complaints that you start going hoarse.

But surely there’s a scientific reason as to why some people are always cold, right?

It can’t just be random chance that has doomed you to a life of perpetual shivers. I reached out to an expert to learn more.

Dr. Christopher Minson is a professor in the department of human physiology at the University of Oregon. One of his primary research interests is thermoregulation, that’s how the brain and body interact and adapt as we heat and cool. Plainly put, he is the perfect guy to answer a few questions from #TeamCold.

(This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity.)

Upworthy (UP): So what is actually happening in the body when a person gets chilly?

Dr. Chris Minson (CM): In the simplest of terms, feeling either cold or warm means that the temperature “set point” of the body is being challenged by thermal inputs throughout the body, including in the brain, the blood, the spinal cord, our organs, our muscles, and our skin. Part of our brain collects all of those thermal inputs and essentially compares them to what body temperature it wants to hold. So if your skin temperature is lowered, even though the rest of your body is still at a comfortable set-point, you will feel cold — in some cases, cold enough to make behavioral changes like putting on a sweater.

UP: Is there a reason this seems to largely impact women?

CM: The people who feel “always cold” will typically have lower muscle mass relative to body surface area (typically, women and older people). Their actual body core temperature may not really be below normal, but they feel cold because their body is telling them to conserve heat.

There have also been limited reports that women have a higher density of blood vessels at the skin surface, which would make them more sensitive to cold. However, there hasn’t been enough good data collected on this theory to confirm or disprove it.

This also explains a frequent frustrations about women and men in relationships…

CM: A common complaint by women and men in relationships is that women’s feet are often very cold, especially in bed. That goes along with the lower body mass to surface area relationship in women. As their body works to conserve heat, it vasoconstricts blood vessels in the extremities (hands and feet) to keep the core warm. This reduced blood flow results in cold hands and feet in women more than men.

So there you have it: Your brain is simply an overworked project manager trying to keep you alive. But there are a few things you can do about it.

UP: If you are a person who is always cold, is there anything you can do to “retrain” your body, so to speak?

CM: One of the best things someone can do is to increase their fat-free mass (muscle). This will increase overall metabolic rate (although it’s not easy to do.)

Another thing a person could do is undergo cold-stresses, such as allowing themselves to be exposed to very cold temperatures for short periods of time. It sounds counter-intuitive, but it’s been suggested that this could decrease the sensation of feeling cold. An example is putting the shower on ‘cold’ for a short period of time in the shower. Not easy to do, and you would want to build up to a full minute each day, but in some people it can help them to decrease the feeling of being cold.

UP: There are a lot of jokes at the expense of people who are always cold, but at what point does it go from “I’m always cold, and it’s a quirky thing about me” to “I’m always cold and I should probably see my doctor”?

CM: There is the possibility that someone’s perpetual coldness could be caused by abnormally low thyroid hormone levels, and that can be verified with a blood test. That is by far the rarer condition, but taking hormone supplements if medically needed can help. If a person is quite lethargic, has low motivation, and is always cold, it might be worth having thyroid hormones evaluated.

So if you are a lap-blanket wearing member of #TeamCold, don’t fret.

You are strong. You are capable. And unless you have pain or some of the symptoms Minson mentioned, there is likely nothing wrong with you. Our bodies just require different things of us, and yours requires that you have to deal with an overly-air conditioned-society. My sincerest apologies. After 46 years on the air and countless iconic skits (several of which even turned into full-fledged spinoff films), the United Kingdom is finally taking a closer look at the United State’s number-one comedy-skit show — and it seems they like what they’re seeing. According to an exclusive Deadline report, a British version of the hit NBC series Saturday Night Live is currently in the works over in the UK. While the project is still in extremely early stages of development, it’s rumored that NBC sister-station Sky UK is already working on finalizing the deal with SNL, as well as scouting potential comedic talent.

If the show is greenlit, it would mark the most high-profile remake of Saturday Night Live to date. While the show has already been remade in several other countries and territories around the world — such as Germany, Italy, China, and South Korea — none have quite reached the level of success as the American version of the series, something that, given the right cast, the UK version seems well-equipped to do.

However, far more surprising than Saturday Night Live U.K.‘s big reveal seems to be the fact that it took this long to happen. Turns out, there are a couple good reasons for that. First and foremost, prior to Sky beginning to air full episodes of Saturday Night Live last year, SNL had only been available to watch in short clips via YouTube, making it less accessible (and noteworthy) to the vast majority of British television fans. While the series’ did air for a brief period in 2006 on ITV4, it wasn’t until 2020 that it became a more regular part of British programming.

In addition, the UK did attempt to make their own version of the show, simply titled Saturday Night, back in 1985. While the program did help launch the careers of Harry Enfield, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, and Ben Elton, it never reached the same levels of success and ultimately only lasted three years. Here’s hoping a new iteration of the series proves to be a bit more of a hit than it was back then — and perhaps even comes on a wee bit earlier than it does here in the states.

In this episode, directed by Tony Uncle Al himself, Johnny Sack’s daughter is getting married, and Tony’s worried that all the jackals he hangs out with are noticing how weak he is after his coma. He also can’t help but notice how hot all these jackals are. Bobby Bacala is Bobby boom shakalaka shaking the rim with monster dunks, Paulie’s got big hairy biceps, and this spicy new driver looks like Dominic Toretto if he liked working out more than he liked drinking Coronas and working on cars.

Tony can’t keep his eyes off Muscles Marinara, and Vito can’t maintain his double life after getting spotted at a leather daddy bar. He’s wearing some kind of long-sleeve mock turtleneck under his leather vest, which Vince points out is the leather daddy equivalent of a t-shirt in the pool. A lot of body related insecurity in this episode. These characters should get on Brent’s workout plan. That dude is ripped, and he volunteers? What a guy.

Myles Garrett is having an incredible season for the Cleveland Browns. The team’s star defensive end has 14 sacks through 12 games, is terrifying quarterbacks, and has lived in backfields. He’s drawn plenty of praise and attention for his performance on the field, which is leading to

One reward that Garrett might receive is becoming the best player in Browns’ history … at least as far as Madden is concerned. Over the last few years, the team over at Madden has embraced the conversation that exists around player ratings and making a particularly big deal out of anyone who manages to reach 99 overall. On Friday, EA Sports teased that Garrett is on the verge of becoming the first player in franchise history to achieve that rating.

Garrett’s rise as one of the best defensive ends in football has been consistent. He started off as an 88 overall in Madden NFL 19 and has seen his rating only increase from there. As long as he doesn’t see his production drop off suddenly to end this season — and there’s no reason to think that’s going to happen, because he is very good — it seems pretty likely that he will be joining the 99 Club at some point before the end of the year. Should Garrett achieve a 99 overall rating, he will pass longtime Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas, who peaked at a 98 overall.
