‘White Lotus’ Season 2 Will Reportedly Take Place In Italy

After its highly successful first season, White Lotus is set to return for a second season, this time set in Sicily. The first season of the comedy-drama, which aired last summer, took place at the fictional White Lotus hotel in Maui. The upcoming season will take place in Italy, filming at the Four Seasons San Domenica Palace in the Sicilian resort town Taormina. The hotel will be closed this spring to allow filming to complete.

For its second season, the newest batch of characters will include The Sopranos’ alum Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, F. Murray Abraham, Tom Hollander, Adam DiMarco, and Haley Lu Richardsonin. The iconic Jennifer Coolidge will return to the series as well.

Imperioli is set to play Dominic Di Grasso, who travels to the Sicilian White Lotus resort with his father Bert Di Grasso (Abraham) and son (DiMarco). Plaza will portray Harper Spiller, who is on vacation with her husband, Hollander will play Quientin, a man vacationing with his nephew, and Richardson will play a young woman names Portia on a trip with her boss.

The show, which was originally supposed to be a limited series, was met with universal acclaim. Series creator Mike White decided to make the show an anthology series, bringing in a new slew of quirky characters for the next season. No air date has been announced as of yet. What we do know is that HBO loves to bring its characters to Italy for their second seasons, as evident with The Sopranos. Perhaps viewers will get to see Coolidge eating a gabagool sandwich.

Video: Resilient reporter gets hit by a car and keeps doing her job

Former “Saturday Night Live” star Tina Fey once said that live television will “never be perfect, but perfect is overrated. Perfect is boring on live TV.”

Who knows that better than TV reporters, who are sent out to brave extreme weather events, interview members of the general public and get quotes from sweaty athletes on the sidelines.

TV reporters are trained to handle just about anything that comes their way, but I’m sure none of them have ever been trained to stay on the air after being blindsided by a car.

Tori Yorgey of NBC affiliate WSAZ was reporting about a water main break on the side of the road in Dunbar, West Virginia when she was struck by a car on live television. “Oh, my God! I just got hit by a car, but I’m OK,” Yorgey told anchor Tim Irr.

Yorgey was knocked out of frame for a while but she regained composure and bragged that it wasn’t the first time it’s happened. “I actually got hit by a car in college just like that,” she explained.

What makes Yorgey even more resilient is that she was all alone when it happened. She set up her own camera and had to put the shot back in order after the car plowed through.

Some people who saw the video thought that Irr’s reaction to his coworker being struck by a car was a little cold. But he later cleared things up by saying he wasn’t able to see her get hit by the car.

After finishing her report, Yorgey went to the hospital to be checked out and she’s said to be doing fine.

Liam Gallagher Insists Oasis ‘Ain’t Reforming’ But Offers A Tiny Glimmer Of Hope Nonetheless

In 2020, Liam Gallagher gave Oasis fans hope that the legendary band would finally be reuniting by telling Noel Gallagher that 2021 would be “our year.” He’s singing a very different tune in 2022, though, and it’s definitely not an Oasis one.

He teased some major news yesterday, writing on Twitter, “Big announcement tmoz and I mean BIG bigger than my nose bigger than rkids rite said Fred f*cking massive so stay tuned LG x.” Some fans in the replies thought maybe this announcement would have to do with an Oasis reunion. Then, he reiterated today that he has big news coming, tweeting, “Evening Rastas more big news tmoz bigger than my mouth and that’s BIG I hear ya say any way sleep tight and c’mon the arsenal LG x.”

He quickly added to the tweet by answering the Oasis questions while not necessarily closing the door on the idea of a reunion, tweeting, “And just a heads up oasis ain’t reforming not this [week] anyway LG x.”

While Oasis hasn’t been active for some time now, there would certainly be some interest in a reunion: Both Gallagher brothers have enjoyed successful solo careers since the band came to an end, and Oasis’ music continues to resonate as “Wonderwall” was the first ’90s song to eclipse a billion Spotify streams.

John Oliver Is Back To Make Sense Of A Nonsensical World In The ‘Last Week Tonight’ Season 9 Trailer

Last Week Tonight season eight wrapped up in November 2021, and lucky for host John Oliver, nothing of importance has happened since then.

Just kidding, plenty of important news stories have occurred in the past few months, including James Cameron confirming that Avatar 2 will be released on December 16 and, uh, some other stuff that I’m sure Oliver will cover during season nine.

HBO has released a trailer for the new season of Last Week Tonight, which is heavy on clips from last season. That’s understandable; not every item the Emmy-winning show covers is as evergreen as The Da Vinci Code being bad. There’s also a premiere date (February 20) and a poster that shows Oliver sitting next to a scorched globe with his hands over his face. The tagline: “Mistakes were made.” That is, as they say, a mood.

Here’s more on what to expect:

As the country navigates the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and a highly polarized political landscape, the ninth season of the critically acclaimed series promises to shine a light on headline news as well as lesser-reported topics that both inform and entertain, featuring a mix of the series’ sharp commentary, pre-taped pieces and occasional special guests.

Here’s the poster:

Gunna Approves Of His Pushin P Movement Catching On With Brands On Social Media

No one really knows what “Pushin P” means, but that hasn’t stopped the trend sparked by Gunna’s DS4EVER single (and his newfound habit of abusing the blue “P” emoji) from spreading like wildfire on Instagram and Twitter. Trend-conscious brand accounts are always on the lookout for memes to co-opt, from Drake’s Certified Lover Boy cover to the red flag emoji craze, so of course, everyone from IHOP to Nike is now “pushin P” on social media — and Gunna unsurprisingly approves, considering it all amounts to free promotion for his No. 1-selling album.

Referred to on Emojipedia as the P Button (its official Unicode title is “Negative Squared Latin Capital Letter P”), the emoji has taken over on Twitter. The International House of Pancakes tweeted, “We’re always pushing 🅿ancakes,” while Nike’s account claimed, “We had an internal meeting, and without getting into details, we’re pushin 🅿 all year.” Gunna was only too happy to big up IHOP’s tweet, declaring, “IHO🅿 Pushin🅿.” NBA teams like the Memphis Grizzlies, restaurants like WingStop, and even the freaking Teletubbies are dropping the P Button all over the timeline.

Meanwhile, over on Instagram, one-woman brand Kim Kardashian got in on the fun, captioning a bikini photo, “Beach 🅿arty.” Gunna reposted the photo to his Instagram Story, adding, “Capital 🅿!!”

The one person adopting the slang that Gunna likely wouldn’t approve of is Freddie Gibbs, the Indiana rapper with whom Gunna has been feuding over snitching accusations. Gibbs has been sarcastically jacking the slang on his Instagram burner as a way to troll Gunna for a lackluster diss record on his new album. However, Gunna probably isn’t paying it too much mind in the wake of his monster first week (and likely second) — he’s way too busy, well, pushin P.

Holly Humberstone Gets Nostalgic For Home On ‘London Is Lonely’

Come April, London’s Holly Humberstone will be gracing the festival stage at Coachella. From there, she’ll be going on tour with Olivia Rodrigo and she’s on one heck of a ride since releasing her The Walls Are Way Too Thin EP last November. Now she has just dropped her first single since the EP came out in the nostalgic “London Is Lonely.”

The song describes the feeling of being in a new home for the first time. Humberstone realizes that her new life is ahead of her while looking back to the past. It’s a sweet examination of the anxiety that arises from this feeling, especially in pandemic times. It’s an honest song that will surely be well-received on tour alongside Rodrigo’s equally emotional tunes.

Humberstone shared a statement on what the song means to her:

“I wrote ‘London Is Lonely’ back in February 2020 right before the pandemic hit here in the UK. I had just moved out of my childhood home down to London and had spent the past few months feeling really trapped and alone in my tiny flat with strangers. London felt so intense and although there were so many people around me, I felt even more isolated and like I didn’t belong. I kind of lost myself in the city. I didn’t exactly know who I was anymore, and so going home and writing felt like my safe space to process everything. It’s funny now listening to the song almost two years on, post-pandemic, and feeling like nothing much has changed at all. I’m still trying to find my place here and make it my home and so it felt right to put this song out into the world right now, when so many other people are probably feeling lost right now too.”

Michael Mann Will Release A Novel Later This Year That Will Serve As A Prequel And Sequel To ‘Heat,’ His Classic Heist Film

It’s been more than 25 years since Michael Mann’s Heat arrived in theaters and forever altered people’s lists of perennial favorite movies. In addition to being one of the greatest heist films ever committed to celluloid, the movie marked the first time that Hollywood icons Robert De Niro and Al Pacino had ever shared any real screen time (no, that dissolve shot from The Godfather: Part II doesn’t count). Now, Mann is ready to unleash a new chapter of the beloved crime drama—well, several of them—in the form of Heat 2, a new novel he wrote with award-winning scribe Meg Gardiner, which will be published this summer.

Deadline was the first outlet to break the news about the novel, which will serve as both a prequel and a sequel to the 1995 film. “It’s been my intention for a long time to do the further stories of Heat,” Mann told Deadline. “There was always a rich history or backstory about the events in these people’s lives before 1995 in Heat and projection of where their lives would take them after.”

Al Pacino in 'Heat'
Tenor

The book will mark Mann’s first novel, and the first title from Michael Mann Books, which is part of HarperCollins’ William Morrow imprint. It may or may not reveal the genesis of Pacino’s “great ass!” According to Deadline:

The novel Heat 2 starts one day after the events of the film, with a wounded Chris Shiherlis [played by Val Kilmer in Heat] desperate to escape LA. The story moves to both the six years preceding the heist and the years immediately following it, featuring new characters and new worlds of high-end professional crime, with highly cinematic action sequences. The venues range from the streets of L.A. to the inner sanctums of rival Taiwanese crime syndicates in a South American free trade zone, to a massive drug cartel money-laundering operation just over the border in Mexico, and eventually to Southeast Asia. Heat 2 explores the dangerous workings of international criminal organizations with full-blooded portraits of its male and female inhabitants.

Heat 2 will be published on August 9th. You can watch an original trailer for the tome below.

‘The Batman’ Will Clock In At Almost Three Hours, Making It The Second-Longest Superhero Movie Ever

For the better part of a year, there have been rumors that The Batman will be boasting a seriously long runtime when the Matt Reeves-directed film starring Robert Pattinson hits theaters in March. Well, now, we know the final number, and it’s official: The Batman is long. Clocking in at two hours and 55 minutes, The Batman will be the longest solo Batman movie (Batman V Superman and Justice League don’t count), and the second-longest theatrical superhero movie ever behind Avengers: Endgame, which beats the Pattinson film by a mere six minutes.

Via The Hollywood Reporter:

The upcoming movie, which flies into theaters on March 4, centers on Bruce Wayne’s earlier days of fighting crime. The film is full of Batman’s rogues gallery, so it is bound to be complex. Paul Dano plays The Riddler, a serial killer pursued by Batman. Zoë Kravitz plays Catwoman and Colin Farrell appears as the Penguin.

There’s bound to be discussion about releasing a movie this long in the middle of a pandemic, particularly after Spider-Man: No Way Home demonstrated that moviegoers will flock to the theaters for massive superhero tentpoles. (In Warner Bros.’ defense, The Batman will start streaming on HBO Max after just 45 days.) However, there has been talk of The Batman being delayed because of the surge in COVID cases. While WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar recently told Puck News that the studio feels “good” about the film’s March 4 release date, he did confirm that they are “certainly paying attention to everything going on with Omicron” and “we’re gonna watch it day by day.”

Melody’s Echo Chamber Announces A Long-Awaited New Album And Shares The Groovy ‘Looking Backward’

Melody’s Echo Chamber (aka Melody Prochet) established herself as a psychedelic favorite with her 2012 self-titled debut album, but unfortunately, albums have been few and far between since then. She followed it up with 2018’s Bon Voyage and that’s her most recently released album. Thankfully, a new one is on the way, as today, she announced Emotional Eternal, which is set for release on April 29. She also shared a video for “Looking Backward” today, a spacey and groove-driven single.

Press materials describe the album as “a glorious consolidation of the lessons learned along the way, seen through the eyes of someone who has taken a step back, and who can see clearly as a result.” Prochet also says of the new song, “‘Looking Backward’ is a vivid, nonchalant, poetic march to the Unknown. I wrote the lyrics on my way to Stockholm, in transit at the airport, there was a man creating light reflections with his watch and playing with light on the floors and walls. It felt like an act coming from a source of pure creativity, it made me happy to catch it and inspired me to write the song.”

Director Hyoyon Paik also noted of the video, “It was a truly joyful experience to tap into Melody’s world and use my CGI skill to visualize it. This piece demonstrates how artists can utilize digital avatars and CGI to deliver a grander and more immersive narrative in this exciting time, where the digital world and reality are integrated more than ever before.”
