Rihanna’s Response To Pregnancy Rumors Came Through An Instagram DM With A Fan

For the umpteenth time in her career, Rihanna faced pregnancy rumors earlier this week after many claimed to spot a baby bump on her. It came after her appearance at a ceremony that celebrated her home country of Barbados’ independence from 400 years of British rule. The rumors caused many to congratulate Rihanna and her boyfriend ASAP Rocky on social media while others were left to wallow in sadness at the news. One fan took the opportunity to reach out to Rihanna to see if the news was true or not. The singer replied with nothing but jokes about the rumors while also denying them.

“Can I come to the baby shower!? [skull and heart emojis],” the fan inquired. “True or not your babies are going to be beautiful! sorry everyone’s up in your uterus right now [laughing and skull emojis]. In response, Rihanna wrote, “Haaaaa! Stawwwp! You ain’t come to the first 10 baby showers! Y’all breed me every year dammit lol.”

The last time that Rihanna was hit with pregnancy rumors came at the end of 2019 following an appearance at the Diamond Ball. A Givenchy Haute Couture mermaid gown she wore pushed many to believe that she was sporting a baby bump. In other news, Rihanna recently released an epic catalogue-spanning vinyl collection titled, Rih-Issue.

‘Succession’ Fans Are Worried About Kendall After One Of The Show’s Stars Called The Season 3 Finale ‘Very Upsetting’

The Roys are going to Italy! In Sunday’s episode of Succession, the billionaire family attend a “luxe family wedding” overseas, where “Gerri draws a line in the sand with Roman, the Waystar team grows increasingly concerned about Matsson’s rogue tweets, and Shiv and Caroline have a heart-to-heart, of sorts,” according to HBO. It won’t be as depressing as last week’s party (god I hope), but something upsetting is coming.

J. Smith-Cameron, who plays Waystar Royco interim CEO Gerri Kellman, appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she teased the season three finale. “My god, it’s going to be very upsetting,” she said, and “a little shocking.”

Succession fans are now concerned about Kendall, who’s not doing great.

In (slightly) less distressing news, Smith-Cameron was also asked about Gerri and Roman’s relationship and whether they would ever… you know. “I don’t know, I don’t think so,” she replied. “I feel like, first of all let’s just talk about him, I don’t think he could do that, right? He would be freaked out… and I think my character’s too careful to do that. But, you know, if the writers write it…”

Andrew Garfield sums up the grief of losing his mom in a simple and captivating way

Andrew Garfield came onto “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” to promote his new movie, “tick, tick… Boom.” What he gave instead was a truly touching story about love and loss, with a refreshing and relatable twist.

The sweet moment comes at the four-minute mark of the interview, where Colbert asked Garfield how playing Broadway composer Jonathan Larson (who died suddenly of a heart issue at the upswing of his creative career) helped him process the unexpected loss of his mother.

Instead of wishing the pain away, Garfield states, “I hope this grief stays with me.”

“This is all of the unexpressed love,” he continues. “The grief that will remain with us until we pass because we never get enough time with each other, no matter whether someone lives until 60 or 15 or 99. I hope this grief stays with me because it’s all of the unexpressed love that I didn’t get to tell her, and I told her every day, she was the best of us.

“I got to sing Jonathan Larson’s unfinished song, while simultaneously singing for my mother and her unfinished song. This film is to do with this ticking clock that we all have, that we all know, somewhere deep down that life is sacred, life is short, and we better just be here as much as possible with each other, holding on to each other.”

He concludes with, “Both John and my mother were warriors for art. They knew the power of art and knew the power of leaving the world in a slightly more beautiful state than how they found it.”

Garfield’s moving testament—with nearly 800,000 views on YouTube—helps put to words that inexplicable, bittersweet yet sublime feeling of loss, and how it helps remind us to take stock of the good things while they’re still here.

An inspiring quote long attributed to artist Frida Kahlo was actually from a Canadian teen

Frida Kahlo is, undoubtedly, an iconic artist. Her paintings continue to engage even a contemporary audience. And her life story inspires us to transmute our pain into beauty.

Among her many famous quotes, you might have ran across this one:

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world, but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do.”

That quote, though mainstream, was not created by Kahlo at all. It was actually made by a 17-year-old girl in 2008.

The early 2000s were a time where teenagers transitioned from the private journal entry to the more public—while still anonymous—forums of online blogs. Rebecca Martin found her creative outlet on a site called PostSecret. Using a magazine cut-out image of Kahlo, she combined it with her typed-out words as a mini collage and posted it to the site.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Martin shared how excited she was to see that her work made it to the very top of the blog. Little did she know that it would begin a long-enduring mix-up of creative attribution.

The quote spread like artistic wildfire. In 2015, Martin discovered a comic strip featuring a young girl, with a similar appearance to Kahlo. In the comic, the young girl struggles to find a sense of belonging until she stumbles across the works of Frida Kahlo. Martin’s quote not only makes it into the comic, it’s the written through line of the piece. And it’s credited to Kahlo.

Martin then had to contact Quote Investigator, the comic creator and the Frida Kahlo estate to receive proper attribution. But that wouldn’t be the end of it.

Recently, on November 22, the Museum of Modern Art used the quote while promoting its exhibit featuring three of Kahlo’s most famous self-portraits. The museum quickly corrected itself in a follow-up post. But still, the erroneous tweet remains.

Reading the quote, you can see how even a high-profile institution like MoMA would mistakenly hear Kahlo’s voice. Both women share the same soft, poetic nature. But this sparks another question. Would people find the message as impactful knowing it came from a teenage girl online, rather than then famous Frida Kahlo?

Martin seems to think otherwise. She told BuzzFeed “I think people really like to believe that Frida Kahlo said it because she’s such a powerful figure and the quote is really very vulnerable and soft, and it’s asking for connection and I think people like to feel connected to Frida Kahlo in that way. I think it’s less exciting to feel connected to me.”

Which is a bit sad, really. Clearly Martin’s quote moved people. And creativity doesn’t become more or less moving when it comes from someone famous. This alludes to an odd form of celebrity worship we have as a society, which keeps us from being affected by one another in a genuine way.

frida kahlo quote

Just as Kahlo’s works are no longer simply hers, so too have Martin’s words morphed into something all their own. Such is the nature of art once we share it with the world. Better yet, Martin’s unique experience made way for her own special connection with one of the world’s greatest artists, someone “bizarre and flawed” just like her.

By the way, if you’re curious about what actual Frida Kahlo quotes look like, here are a few:

“At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.”

“Pain, pleasure and death are no more than a process for existence. The revolutionary struggle in this process is a doorway open to intelligence”

“Nothing is worth more than laughter. It is strength to laugh and to abandon oneself, to be light. Tragedy is the most ridiculous thing.”

Drake has a great reaction to an older couple who have absolutely no idea who he is

Drake is one of the most famous people on the planet. The “Way 2 Sexy” rapper was No. 4 on Spotify’s most-streamed artists in 2021 and is the 27th most popular human being on social media with more than 192 million followers.

His massive fame and sheer number of huge hits earned him the number 12 spot on Insider’s list of Best Canadians of All Time. That’s quite the honor, too. He’s even ranked higher than William Shatner from “Star Trek” and actor Seth Rogen. That’s truly rarified Canadian air.

Drake is also a huge NBA fan and is a regular sight at Toronto Raptors games.

On Wednesday, he was in Oklahoma for the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets game, sitting courtside to support fellow Torontonian, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder.

Before the Rockets were ready to hit the court, a camera crew posted up in front of Drake and he responded with a nonchalant peace sign. Sitting to Drake’s left was an older couple who didn’t understand why he was getting so much attention.

In the video, it appears as though the gentleman asks Drake, “Are you famous?” and the woman to his left who appears to be his wife, adds, “Who are you?”

It’s unclear what Drake said to the couple, but he was all smiles when he explained why people were paying so much attention to him. After talking to the couple, he motioned the camera crew to get some footage of them.

After that, Drake took things a step further by posting a photo of them on his Instagram stories. Now, they’re famous, too.

“My new parents,” wrote the rapper, sharing a picture with them.

The video is a wonderful reminder that even some of the most famous people in the world aren’t known by everyone. Even a person like Drake has to explain who he is to from time to time. It’s fun to see that Drake got a kick out of people being genuinely curious about who he is and what all the fuss is about.

Plus, it must be nice for him just to be treated like a normal person from time to time instead of always being the center of attention.

Drake has always been known as the “nice guy” of rap and this video proves that the image may actually be true.

Drake has a long history of charitable giving. He gave $200,000 to J.J. Watt’s charity to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. He’s also donated money to schools, homeless shelters and an Ohio woman who lost her five kids and boyfriend in a fire in 2013.

Here’s a cute video of Drake waving hello to a man’s daughter at the game on Wednesday night.

Sandra Bullock is brutally honest with her kids about race, because she has to be

Sometimes the best protection a parent can offer is presenting the world exactly as it is.

Sandra Bullock recently appeared on an episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk,” where she discussed the realities of being a white mom to two black children.

Bullock adopted her son Louis and her daughter Laila between 2010 and 2015, and since the adoption has been praised not only for being so open with her children about race, but for approaching it through their perspective, versus one of privilege.

“To say that I wished our skins matched…sometimes I do. Because then it would be easier on how people approached us,” she admitted.

It might make things easier, but for Bullock and her children, that is simply not the truth.

No parent wants to tell their child that the world can often be a scary and unfair place, but not having the difficult conversation is, as Bullock told BET in 2015, a “disservice.”

She added:

“I can’t ride in a bubble with him. I want him to know the truth…that you’ll be judged by the color of your skin rather than the content of your character. But it exists, and I want him to be safe and I want him to be aware. Once he leaves that house and I’m not with him, it’s his life and how he approaches it is his decision…I want to know that I did the best I could as his mom to educate him on the ugliness in the world, and also the beauty.”

In an interview with theGrio, Bullock reflected on a heartbreaking experience after seeing son Louis wearing a hoodie. It’s crazy to think that something as innocent as this could be life-threatening, but as the countless stories of racial profiling continue to make headlines, it is a consistently relevant and crucial conversation to have.

She asked her 6-year-old, “What does it look like you’re doing with the hoodie?”

Louis’ response: “Well, I look like I’m hiding.”

Bullock told theGrio that Louis is well aware that he would be treated differently as a white boy. She reiterated that she “doesn’t care” if that fact scares her children, because it is her “job to let them know that outside of these safe walls, that things are different.”

The responsibility of a parent is to make the children aware of potential dangers they are likely to face, to fully equip and prepare them. For parents with children of color, this includes the added weight of discussing the prejudice waiting for them outside the safety of home.

Though Sandra Bullock is well aware of the hardships her children face, she still says “maybe one day we’ll be able to see with different eyes.”

For a change like that to happen, we will need to see through the eyes of empathy and compassion. This is something Bullock embodies every day that she chooses to have transparent conversations with her children, to “protect them, enlighten them, and show them their power.”

An Older Couple Sitting Courtside Next To Drake Had No Idea Who He Was

Drake is a notorious presence courtside at NBA games. While often in Toronto, the part owner of the Raptors often also shows up to big games outside of The Six. But last night, he was slumming it, so to speak, at the Oklahoma City Thunder versus Houston Rockets game in OKC. Folks were understandably perplexed as to why Drizzy would show up to see two cellar-dwellers play early in the season, but he was presumably there to show love to fellow Toronto native Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder. SGA heeded the call and the point guard dropped a cool 39 points in front of the rapper, albeit in a loss. But the big story of this game was the cute older couple that was sitting courtside next to Drake and had no idea who he was.

In a hilarious exchange during a break in play, the arena jumbotron cameras seemed to pan over to Drake. When the couple sitting next to him noticed that they were in the outskirts of the frame on the giant video board, hilarity ensued.

The gentleman taps Drake (who was playing it cool for the camera) on the shoulder and says “Hey man!” to get his attention and his wife leans over and jokingly tells Drake to “Smile!” for the camera. The three break out in laughter and the affable Drake tells the man that the cameras were for him. They shared a laugh and then Rumble, the Thunder’s mascot, came over to shake Drake’s hand. Drake later posted a selfie with the couple on his Instagram story with the caption “My new parents.” Ignorance really is bliss sometimes.

Dana White Sought Out Joe Rogan’s Advice After Getting COVID, Despite The Fact That He Is Not A Doctor

UFC president Dana White recently tested positive for COVID-19. During an appearance on The Jim Rome Podcast on Wednesday, White, who says he is vaccinated, said that he received word of his positive test after spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Maine, and is currently isolating in his Las Vegas home.

“You’re supposed to stay home and stay away from other people for 10 days,” White said. “That’s what I’m doing. If I test negative, then I will absolutely, positively be [at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night headlined by Jose Aldo vs. Rob Font]. I’ll keep testing every two days until I’m negative and then I’m going to get back to work ASAP.”

As for his course of treatment, White told Rome that he consulted his friend, UFC broadcaster and noted podcast host Joe Rogan. While Rogan has spread misinformation regarding treatments and vaccines for COVID-19, White claims that his consultation with Rogan helped him.

“He said get monoclonal antibodies in you as soon as possible, so I did,” White said. “I had the monoclonal antibodies in me. Then he told me to do a NAD drip. I did that right after. The next day – so Sunday at 8 o’clock at night I have no taste or smell. I get up Tuesday getting ready to shave. Cleaning my razor, I could smell the alcohol. My taste and smell were back by the next day by 11 o’clock. Then I took a dose of ivermectin. Then yesterday I did a vitamin drip, and today I’m doing another NAD drip.

“Rogan has worked with 30 or 40 people that have done this, and he swears by it, and he’s a good friend of mine that I’ve known for over 20 years,” he continued. “I believe in what he’s saying. I’m attacking this thing with the methods Rogan has learned from some very smart people.”

If you test positive for COVID-19, please go to a doctor.
