Emma Thompson And Emma Watson Had The Best Night Of Their Lives At The Adele Concert

As part of the promotional campaign for her stunning new album Billboard-topping album, 30, Adele hosted a TV concert special, An Audience with Adele, where she told stories, sang, and made two British ladies with the first name Emma lose their minds.

Here is Emma Thompson imploring the crowd to get up and dance:

And here is Emma Watson taking her advice:

Dance like no one is watching, even if millions of people are watching on ITV.

The crowd at An Audience with Adele included “friends, family, fans, her own personal heroes and heroines, fellow musicians, artists, actors, sportsmen, sportswomen, and more,” but of all the famous people in attendance, the one Adele most wants to collaborate with is Daniel Kaluuya. “Obviously I’m not an actress, but I just think that you are the greatest actor. I really, really do. I am mesmerized by you and your work,” she said. The Oscar-nominated Get Out star is a great choice (and his reaction was priceless), but after seeing all the videos of Emma Thompson living her best Live, Love, Laugh, And Sing and Dance to Adele life, she may want to change her answer.

An Audience with Adele unfortunately won’t air in the United States, but luckily clips of the Emmas are all over Twitter.

A Surprising Amount Of Texans Would Vote For Matthew McConaughey As Governor

For what feels like forever, Matthew McConaughey has been toying with the idea of running for Texas governor but has remained frustratingly elusive whenever he’s asked if it’s something that he’s actually serious about or just a pipe dream he likes to toss around in interviews. Turns out his strategy is working.

According to a major new poll, McConaughey is leading the pack amongst Texas gubernatorial candidates. Not only would he mop the floor with Beto O’Rourke in the Lone Star State, but the actor is also poised to take down incumbent Greg Abbott. Via Mediaite:

According to a survey released by the University of Texas and the Dallas Morning News, the actor — in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup — tops current Gov. Greg Abbott (R) by 8 points. In all, 43 percent of respondents say they would back McConaughey, 35 percent would support Abbott, and 22 percent would pick someone else.

McConaughey fared even better against another prominent candidate in the 2022 race. According to the poll, the actor would trounce Democrat Beto O’Rourke in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup by a 49-27 margin.

Here’s the rub though. McConaughey has been hedging his bets policy-wise, and it’s not clear if he’d run as a Republican or a Democrat. But should he enter a three-way race as an independent, it’d be a bad move. According to the poll, McConaughey would strip Democratic voters from O’Rourke and hand the race to Abbott, which would not be an alright alright alright logical move.

Taylor Swift Reimagines Her Recent Holiday Tune ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ With A More Orchestral Version

Taylor Swift has been busy re-recording her older material, but now she’s given a recently released track a fresh coat of paint. The tune in question is “Christmas Tree Farm,” which Swift only just released in 2019. The new recording, dubbed the “Old Timey Version,” is out now and exclusive to Amazon Music.

The track was teased on Good Morning America today and Swift says of the rerecording, “This new version is amazing because it feels like it’s that more sort of laid-back Christmas feel of doing all your shopping and relaxing by a fire, and it’s definitely a little bit more of that old-school Christmas song feel.” GMA notes the song was “re-imagined with a 70-piece orchestra and a cozier, more old-timey feel.”

In a 2019 video about the making of the original version of the track, Swift said, “So the idea I have for the song is ‘Christmas Tree Farm,’ because I grew up on one, do you see what I mean? These are chords I don’t usually use, so bear with me, but it would be, like… it’s about how you’re in the city and you’re stressed out and your life is feeling really low, but in your heart [laughs] is a Christmas tree farm.”

‘Dune’ Is No Longer On HBO Max, And People Are In Mourning

Not to hold a Gom Jabbar to your head or anything, but have you watched Dune yet? You should probably watch Dune. For one thing, you will understand so many memes. Also, it’s one of the year’s best movies with a stacked cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, and my personal MVP, Jason Momoa. (He’s my MVP in life and in Dune.)

The best way to watch Dune is on the big screen (“the voice” really pops in surround sound), and as of today, it’s the only way to watch Dune.

Denis Villeneuve’s science-fiction epic is no longer available on HBO Max, as it’s been 31 days since the film hit theaters. Warner Media is discontinuing the controversial day-and-date release strategy in 2022, so future Warner Bros. titles, like The Batman and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, will play exclusively in theaters for 45 days before they appear on the streaming service. As for Dune, it will eventually re-appear on HBO Max, but like Godzilla vs. Kong and In the Heights, it may take a few months. Hopefully you didn’t miss your chance to see naked Oscar Isaac.

The spice must flow — so must the tweets about Dune no longer being on HBO Max.

Dune: Part Two is expected to come out on October 20, 2023.

Two Longtime Fox News Contributors Quit In Protest Of Tucker Carlson’s Batsh*t Series (Which Falsely Claims That The MAGA Riot Was A ‘False Flag’ Operation)

Tucker Carlson seemingly enjoys free rein at Fox News, or at least, that’s the logical assumption that one can make by his anti-vaxxer rhetoric (and plentiful disinformation) in the face of Fox News’ own vaccine mandate. Naturally, Tucker spent his weekend hopping all over an interview with Kyle Rittenhouse (in the wake of his shocking not-guilty verdict), but behind the scenes, turmoil has been swirling at Fox News.

To that end, two longtime Fox News contributors announced that they’re throwing in the towel at the conservative news network. There’s doing so out of protest for Tucker’s batsh*t new documentary series, Patriot Purge, which falsely claims that the failed MAGA coup was a “false flag” operation executed by the U.S. government (the so-called “Deep State”) or something. Well, Stephen Hayes and Jonah Goldberg have had enough of this dangerous disinformation, so they walked. And then (via Deadline), they wrote about their choice — essentially explaining that Patriot Purge is the culmination of five years of amped-up toxicity — on their site, The Dispatch:

“Over the past five years, some of Fox’s top opinion hosts amplified the false claims and bizarre narratives of Donald Trump or offered up their own in his service. In this sense, the release of Patriot Purge wasn’t an isolated incident, it was merely the most egregious example of a longstanding trend. Patriot Purge creates an alternative history of January 6, contradicted not just by common sense, not just by the testimony and on-the-record statements of many participants, but by the reporting of the news division of Fox News itself.”

Between Hayes and Goldberg, that’s over 20 years of combined time at Fox News down the tubes, which says a lot, along with their lamentation about the “real reporting” at Fox News losing traction because “the voices of the responsible are being drowned out by the irresponsible.” Further, they’re disgusted by Patriot Purge holding itself out as real investigative journalism but actually being “a collection of incoherent conspiracy-mongering, riddled with factual inaccuracies, half-truths, deceptive imagery, and damning omissions.” As they sum up, Tucker wants his audience to believe that the Deep State is attempting to take down “patriots” like they are “al Qaeda.” NPR further reports that Hayes and Goldberg did raise their concerns to Fox News leadership, a move that obviously did not change their minds about resignation.

Michael Porter Jr’s Season Could Be In Jeopardy Due To A Nerve Issue In His Back

Back on Nov. 6, Michael Porter Jr. suffered a back injury when he went up for a layup and came up in some discomfort. While the Denver Nuggets have not been able to provide specifics on when the high-scoring forward might be able to return, a new report indicates that we may not see Porter again this season.

According to Mike Singer of the Denver Post, a nerve issue in Porter’s back could lead to him missing the remainder of the season. The team is apparently willing to give Porter some more time to continue getting better and show that he is going down the right path, but if he is unable to do that, he might need to go under the knife, something that he has not needed to do since the summer before he entered the league.

The Nuggets have been vague about specifics of the injury and when Porter might be expected back. They have given him a timeline of a week to show improvements before considering other treatment options. Another back surgery is a possibility, sources said.

Porter’s back has long been a cause for concern, dating back to the one year he spent in college at the University of Missouri. The news comes on the heels of Porter putting pen to paper on a five-year max extension this past offseason. With Jamal Murray sidelined due to his recovery from a torn ACL, the team put a whole lot on Porter’s shoulders this year. He averaged 9.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game before going down, but recently, Nuggets teammate Austin Rivers revealed that Porter was dealing with back issues throughout the season.

BTS Brought The Infectious Energy Of ‘Butter’ To Close Out The 2021 AMAs

After cleaning up at the 2021 AMAs, K-pop icons BTS closed out the night with a performance of their hit single “Butter.” Decked out in yellow, with melting hearts and plenty of dance moves to spare, the Korean group reminded everyone present why their stadium shows sell out all around the world whenever they go on tour. There’s a certain synergy that this group has performing together, which was on full display earlier when they joined Coldplay for the collaborative track, “My Universe.”

Though BTS have been winning awards for their music all year, this was one of the first occasions where the band could safely travel to America to perform in-person instead of sending in a video set up from abroad. There was definitely a more clear sense of their presence during tonight’s show, where they picked up several awards and repeatedly thanked their fan army for believing in them. And though it was rumored that Megan Thee Stallion would be joining the K-pop group to perform their remix version of the song, she ended up unable to attend tonight’s show, so they closed the event out on their own. But of course, these guys are pros and don’t need any help to deliver a sizzling sendoff. Check it out above.

Giveon Offers A Stirring Rendition Of ‘Heartbreak Anniversary’ At The 2021 AMAs

Giveon was one of the many artists in 2020 to make the best of quarantine times and break out into the mainstream music world. He released two EPs, Take Time and When It’s All Said And Done, which were later repacked into one 13-song project When It’s All Said And Done… Take Time. However, after 2020 concluded, Giveon kept things a bit quieter outside of landing his first No. 1 song thanks to Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” with him and Daniel Caesar. Things could be picking up for Giveon and it comes as stopped by to 2021 American Music Awards to perform “Heartbreak Anniversary.”

The performance was both a soulful and stirring rendition of the highlight track from Take Time as the Long Beach singer used the moment to showcase his vocals to the world. Giveon’s performance at the AMAs is just the latest in what’s been an uptick in activity for the Long Beach singer. Back in September, Giveon released his first post-When It’s All Said And Done… Take Time era single with “For Tonight.” The emotive track finds the singer longing for a single moment of intimacy with a special woman in his life. He later delivered an intimate rendition of the song during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Chloe’s Performance Of ‘Have Mercy’ At The AMAs Doubled Down On Her Star Power

We named Chloe as one of our rising pop stars to watch for 2022, but honestly, she’s already broken out in a big way as part of the duo with her sister, Chloe x Halle. In recent months, it’s been clear that despite the success of their sophomore album, Ungodly Hour, released in 2020, the two are both growing into solo careers as well. Halle was tapped to play Ariel in the new version of The Little Mermaid and Chloe was getting so much attention from simple social media posts, that she decided to release a debut single and video to go along with it.

So “Have Mercy” was born, and the single has been slowly but steadily racking up a dedicated fan base ever since. The song has already been covered by a HBCU marching band (or two), and Chloe raised eyebrows with an exuberant performance of the song at the VMAs. Tonight, she brought it back out for a performance at the AMAs, and as always, it didn’t disappoint. After descending down to the stage in a swing, the singer debuted her red-tinted hair for another dance-centric performance of her debut solo song. The audience was more than responsive to her high-energy performance, check it out above.
