Cardi B Shares What To Expect For Her Upcoming Hosting Gig At The 2021 American Music Awards

The 2021 American Music Awards will go down on November 21, and while many are stoked for performances by the likes of Megan Thee Stallion BTS Olivia Rodrigo, and Bad Bunny, they’re also excited about who’s hosting. That would be Cardi B, and based on the rapper’s charisma, Sunday’s show should be a fun one. Ahead of her hosting gig, Cardi revealed what viewers can expect from her on Sunday.

“I’m the host, but I feel like the performers and their performances, it’s like their night, you know what I’m saying?” Cardi said during an interview with Variety. “Like when you perform, it’s your night. And I’m just going to be myself.” She added, “There are going to be certain things that I read on the teleprompter, but I’m just going to freestyle it because I don’t like feeling like I’m talking like a robot.”

Cardi also expressed her love for BTS, but according to her, she’s not the only one in her family who’s a fan of the K-pop group. “I like BTS a lot, but let me tell you something: My daughter [Kulture] likes BTS a lot a lot,” she said.

Ye And Drake Officially Announce Their Benefit Concert In Support Of Larry Hoover’s Freedom

Ye and Drake are finally on good terms again, after three years of beefing. The rappers wasted no time reuniting, announcing a benefit concert for the freedom of imprisoned Chicago gang founder Larry Hoover. It all started with Ye extending an olive branch to Drake, with help from J Prince, to end their beef in order to hold the concert. Now, an official venue and date for the show have been revealed and it’s not too far from today.

On December 9, Drake and Ye will take over the Los Angeles Coliseum for the Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concer, with the two headlining. Ye made the announcement with a flyer shared on his Instagram page.

Larry Hoover Jr. has also shown support for the end of Drake and Ye’s beef. “This would be big,” he said in an interview with TMZ before the two rappers reconciled. “This is like Michael Jackson and Prince, the one we never seen. It’s gon’ be a ripple effect. We need togetherness and peace in this hip-hop community. We need togetherness and peace in our communities all throughout the United States. Lady Gaga Called Adam Driver A ‘Weirdo Like Me’ In A Touching Birthday Post

We’re still a few days removed from the holiday release of House of Gucci, the star-studded, epic account of the legendary fashion line and the crumbling marriage of Maurizio Gucci and Partrizia Reggiani. But in real life, the two main stars, Adam Driver and Lady Gaga, get along like gangbusters. They so connected on the shoot — including during a sex scene — that the latter sent a touching birthday greeting to the former.

“I hope you have the best day,” Gaga wrote on Instagram, beside a picture of the two on-set. “I’m the lucky actress who got to learn from you and lead with you every day. Shoutout to all your fans! I know why they adore you, it’s cuz you’re the best! (and you’re a weirdo like me).”

When House of Gucci hits theaters the day before Thanksgiving, it will be the second Ridley Scott movie in as many months, after The Last Duel, which also co-starred Driver. That movie tanked, despite strong reviews, but Gucci seems to at least be generating a ton of good press and social media coverage. Some of that has circled around the over-the-top Italian accents, while the singer and actress has said making the film wound up triggering some old trauma.

House of Gucci hits theaters on November 24.

Soulja Boy Refuses To Share His Condolences For Young Dolph After His Death

In the days prior to Young Dolph’s tragic death following a shooting at a Memphis bakery, Soulja Boy sparked a beef with him, calling into question Dolph’s independence as a rapper. Soulja also claimed that Dolph was lying about making $100,000 per concert. Soulja took things further still, claiming that artists on Dolph’s Paper Route Empire messaged him in defense of Dolph. “Young Dolph if you don’t get your b*tch-ass artists out my motherf*ckin’ DMs, n****,” he said. “F*ck Paper Route, f*ck Key Glock, f*ck Young Dolph, f*ck all y’all n****s.” Now, Soulja is refusing to share condolences for Dolph despite his unfortunate death.

“Let it would have been me,” Soulja said during an Instagram Live session on Friday, according to XXL. “It would have been a whole bunch of, ‘Ha ha ha, Soulja Boy should have kept his mouth shut. He should have…’” He continued, “Let it woulda been me, n****,” he continued. “N****s would have been laughing like a muthaf*cker. ‘Soulja Boy thought he was tough.’”

Soulja also responded to the recent decision to have him removed from two shows on the Millenium Tour after Dolph’s death. “Y’all muthaf*ckers done got me took off the Memphis show like Young Dolph dying got something to do with me,” Soulja said. “What the f*ck Young Dolph dying got to do with me? That’s what the f*ck I’m trying to figure out.”

Soulja recently sampled the theme song for Squid Game for a recent track of his.

Richaun Holmes And His Bag Of Tricks Are An Understated Delight For The Kings

One of the most joyous parts about the NBA is when the talents and vibes of a player converge. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has it. Jaylen Brown has it. DeMar DeRozan has it. And among some of the less-heralded candidates, Richaun Holmes has it.

The dude simply emanates groove and goodness; to watch him is to gravitate toward his inviting persona. Donning dual-arm sleeves, a ponytail, and a thick headband, he dunks everything and revels in each slam. His perception of on-court events is not complicated to discern. A mere glance at his face easily translates his emotions for the audience. Jubilance, shock, frustration, disappointment — they all are on display.

Basketball is fun and provocative. Holmes treats the game as such.

He also treats the game with an outcome that doles out winners and losers because the 28-year-old is a darn good center. How he only earned a four-year, $46.5 million contract this past summer following consecutive superb seasons is mystifying and a ridiculous underpay. Despite a pay raise that more than doubled his previous salary, he’s only the NBA’s 124th-highest paid player. That’s absurd for someone of his ilk.

Here’s an amusing and somewhat worthwhile tidbit. The only centers to rank among the top 40 in Estimated Plus-Minus each of the last three seasons (including this one) are Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Holmes. So, at least one metric deems Holmes’ impact outmatched by a select number of centers, all of whom are MVP or All-NBA candidates.

While Holmes is certainly not on that level, through a month of 2021-22, he’s playing like a man sitting just on the fringe of All-Star consideration. If the teams were cast now, he would not make it, though he’d be deserving of inclusion on an initial list set to be whittled down. The seventh-year big man is averaging 13.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks. His preposterous 71.2 percent true shooting is second behind Gobert among eligible players.

Few are more effective and voluminous ball-screen partners than Holmes. According to Synergy, he’s one of 13 players to register 45+ possessions as a roller this season, and his 1.178 points per possession (PPP) rank seventh. Last season, his 1.301 PPP ranked fifth among 38 players with 200+ possessions. In particular, he and Tyrese Haliburton have fostered exceptional camaraderie in the pick-and-roll.

Holmes is both a dominant finisher (85th percentile around the basket, per Synergy) and touts a feathery floater that’s stuck on automatic these days (93rd percentile on runners). He knows how to slyly function in space as an off-ball scorer, has a sprawling catch radius and relies on soft hands to snare feeds. Rescreens and space-carving picks are present in his arsenal.

Although he’s not a routine self-creator, he keeps a little turn-and-hook badge in his pocket and has cooked a few bigs off the bounce as a face-up scorer. His touch and body control are distinguished. Despite rarely taking triples or free throws, he’s registered a 67.8 percent true shooting on more than 1,000 field goal attempts since 2019-20. He’s always spinning jackpots on the slot machines in the paint.

His role is narrow, but that does not mean simple. If everyone could finish from 15 feet and in like him, his efficiency and production would not be uncommon. But succeeding to the degree he does as a screen-and-roll big who’s hardly tasked with creation has considerable merits. He eases the burden of ball-handlers because they know there’s always a premier release valve inside if a pass is available. That sort of option is partly why Sacramento has fielded a top-12 offense each of the last two years. If initiators can create a paint touch, bountiful results are a likelihood.

Holmes also moonlights as a janitor for the Kings. Per Cleaning The Glass, he’s in the 74th percentile or better in both offensive (74th) and defensive rebounding (83rd) this season. The former is a lane to easy points and he amplifies those chances with shrewd timing and effortless bounce. He’s often gobbling up boards and jamming home putbacks via errant shots.

What’s perhaps been most impressive about his campaign thus far — if anything is to outdo the true shooting — is the defense. He’s executing tremendous pick-and-roll coverage and has been a hyperactive playmaker and interior anchor. Sometimes, he’ll operate in standard drop defense against ball-screen actions. Other times, he’ll creep toward the level of the screen. All the time, he’s showcasing active hands, mobility, and pristine technique.

His motor has rarely needed a break to recharge either. If there is a play to be made, Holmes will try to accomplish it. His odometer might reset midway through the season at this rate. He’s just playing with so much energy, it’s translated into high-level impact. Not much is positive about the Kings’ 24th-ranked defense, but Holmes’ performance assuredly is.

For years now, it feels as though many appreciate Holmes and all he offers: the dunks, the spunk, the zeal, the push shot, the accessory-laden gameday getup. He plays for a non-playoff squad in a small market, but he doesn’t seem unrecognized. The lengths to which every feature of his game fuels substantial impact, though, doesn’t quite seem properly conceptualized. He’s a dominant, versatile play-finisher thriving in spite of flawed initiators steering the creation ship. He’s a very good defender, even if not among the league’s nobility there.

Everywhere you turn, Holmes is providing another reason to flip on a Kings game, grab a drink, and smile at his plethora of tricks. Amid constant NBA discourse that is prone to fixating on what players or teams lack, Richaun Holmes is more than enough. And that is why he’s an understated delight.

Jennifer Lawrence Got Blazed For Real While Playing A Stoner In ‘Don’t Look Up,’ And ‘Everyone Was F*cking’ With Her

The term “method acting” is routinely misused. It’s a form of performance, first established in the early decades of the 20th century, that involves actors finding ways to identify with the characters they’re playing. Actors changing their bodies, such as gaining or losing weight à la Christian Bale, is something else. But going too far into the real remains a popular trend among actors, and Jennifer Lawrence did a relatively minor version of this for her latest role: She got high.

The Oscar-winning actress has been doing the rounds for Don’t Look Up, Adam McKay’s forthcoming, star-studded apocalypse satire, which costars Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Timothée Chalamet, even Ariana Grande. Lawrence plays a low-level astronomer who doesn’t handle it so well when she discovers a comet is set to wipe out the Earth. So to soothe her nerves, she smokes pot. And so, sometimes, did Lawrence.

Lawrence revealed this during a Q&A in Los Angeles, as per Yahoo! News, saying that for a scene involving Streep, who plays the American president, in which she had no dialogue, she asked permission to toke up. Because, she says, “my character was getting high in the movie.”

She assured people she wasn’t pregnant at the time. (She’s currently expecting her first child.) “I was a real target,” Lawrence said. “Everyone was f*cking with me. … I guess because I was high. Easy to f*ck with.”

So if Lawrence’s eyes look super red during the parts of the film, it’s not a special effect.

Don’t Look Up hits theaters on December 10 before dropping on Netflix the following week.

Marilyn Manson’s Lawyer Says The Singer Is Open To Settlement Discussions With A Sexual Assault Accuser

Marilyn Manson is facing a number of sexual assault and emotional abuse cases, and while many of them are far from being resolved, there is one that is nearing a resolution. During a court hearing in Los Angeles on Friday, Manson’s lawyer, Stephen D. Rothschild, said the singer is open to settlement talks with his ex-girlfriend Jane Doe. Two months ago, Doe’s lawsuit, accusing Manson of sexual assault, was dismissed due to the statute of limitations. However, Judge Gregory Keosian granted her 20 days to file a new complaint, provided she provided more details, in order to be considered for a future case, which she did.

While Manson is open to settling the case, his lawyer said another approach will be needed in his other pending sexual assault cases. “There are other cases that are somewhat related, and so as things progress, we may decide that it’s best to have a global mediation,” Rothschild told Rolling Stone. “I don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon, but it is in the cards.”

Rothschild’s comments come after Judge Keosian set the trial date for the Jane Doe case for October 3, 2023. Keosian estimates that it will take five days to try the case in front of a jury.

The other cases against Manson include one from his former partner Evan Rachel Wood, who is suing him for sexual assault. Another comes from Game Of Thrones actor Esme Bianco, who’s suing Manson for sexual assault, physical abuse, and human trafficking.

Of Course Kyle Rittenhouse’s First Post-Acquittal Interview Will Be With Tucker Carlson

On Friday, Illinois teenager Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted for shooting three protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, killing two. Had the jury found him guilty, he would have likely spent most of his life in jail. But they didn’t, and now he has his choice of internships with multiple far right politicians. Throughout the year-plus ordeal, Rittenhouse has mostly kept quiet, save for a crying jag many found unconvincing. But he’s already scored his first post-acquittal interview, and it’s a predictable choice.

As per Deadline, no less than Tucker Carlson will have Rittenhouse on his show Thursday. The interview will manspread over multiple shows: A portion of it will air on Tucker Carlson Tonight at 8pm, and the rest will be part of a larger documentary project Tucker has been conducting throughout the legal process, airing in December on Tucker Carlson Originals on the Fox Nation app.

Since that fateful night in Kenosha, when he crossed state lines with an illegally acquired AR-15, Rittenhouse has been hailed on the right as a folk hero. The trial began quietly, but it soon turned into a clownshow, thanks in part to an unhinged judge with a Trumpy ringtone. Tucker, who has done things like downplay the Jan. 6 Capitol siege and told his viewers to harass people wearing masks, will no doubt go easy on him.

Britney Spears Puts Christina Aguilera On Blast For ‘Refusing To Speak’ About Her Conservatorship

After 13 long years, Britney Spears’ conservatorship finally came to an end last month and the singer has spent the better part of the last week celebrating her freedom. She called the termination of the court arrangement the “best day ever” and after enjoying a weekend of freedom, Britney said she “felt like I was on cloud 9 the whole time.” However, in a new post to her Instagram Story, Britney took a moment to call out fellow 2000s pop star Christina Aguilera for “refusing to speak” about her conservatorship.

Britney shared a video of Aguilera swarmed by reporters outside the Latin Grammys in Las Vegas on Thursday. In it, Aguilera is asked, “Britney — have you had any communication, have you guys had any communication?” Aguilera’s publicist quickly jumps in and says, “We’re not doing that,” while Aguilera looks apologetically at the reporters before saying, “But I’m really happy for her!”

“I love and adore everyone who supported me … but refusing to speak when you know the truth is equivalent to a lie !!!!” Britney captioned the video of Aguilera on her Instagram Story post. “13 years being in a corrupt abusive system yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about ??? I’m the one who went through it !!!! All the supporters who spoke up and supported me thank you … Yes I do matter !!!!!”

Despite this, fans noted that Aguilera has spoken about Britney’s conservatorship in the past. “It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish,” Aguilera wrote in a tweet earlier this year. She added, “I promise you she deserves all of the freedom possible to live her happiest life. My heart goes out to Britney. She deserves all the TRUE love and support in the world.”
