French Montana, Doja Cat, And Saweetie Are All For Some Freaky Fun On ‘Handstand’

It’s been nearly two years since French Montana delivered an album to the world with his last being 2019’s Montana. Luckily for fans of the rapper, that streak is officially over as Montana returns with his fourth album, They Got Amnesia. The project seems to be a response to those who forgot the hits he contributed to hip-hop over the past decade, which include “Pop That,” “Unforgettable,” “Marble Floors,” and more. A bright moment on They Got Amnesia comes when Montana recruits Doja Cat and Saweetie for “Handstand.”

The track is a bouncy effort that finds the trio indulging in some freaky fun. Montana, Doja, and Saweetie each flaunt their sexual prowess as they request and receive attention from those around them. As for the rest of They Got Amnesia, French Montana delivers 21 songs for the album that also sees appearances from John Legend, Rick Ross, Kodak Black, Pop Smoke, Lil Durk, Fivio Foreign, Fabolous, 42 Dugg, Coi Leray, Ty Dolla Sign, Latto, Lil Tjay, and Moneybagg Yo.

Cardi B Squares Up With All Challenges On ‘Bet It’ From The All-Female ‘Bruised’ Soundtrack

In one week, Halle Berry brings her brawler flick, Bruised, to Netflix but first, she and Warner Records have unleashed the film’s groundbreaking soundtrack, which is the first of its kind to feature a tracklist comprised entirely of female rappers. After hyping the soundtrack with its first two singles, City Girls’ “Scared” and Baby Tate’s “Dungarees,” the full project lands today with the force of a heavyweight haymaker thanks to punishing cuts like Cardi B‘s defiant contribution, “Bet It.”

Backed by a classic Canción melódica sample from Spanish singer Camilo Cortés, Cardi showcases a polished flow that suggests that she’s been hitting the gym as hard as Halle’s main character Jackie Justice in the film itself. Cardi also subtly nods to the film’s status as Halle’s directorial debut, snarking, “My life is a movie, only Cardi could direct it.” It’s a braggadocious and confident cut that also finds the new Bronx Bomber flaunting the spoils of her years of hard work: “More movie sets mean more movie checks / ‘Cause I live in a mansion, I don’t live in regrets.”

In addition to the above-mentioned artists, the newly-released Bruised soundtrack also includes original cuts from Ambre, Big Bottle Wyanna, DreamDoll, Erica Banks, HER, Flo Milli, Latto, Rapsody, Saweetie, and Young MA. You can listen to the full soundtrack here. Check out Cardi’s contribution above.

It’s been a year and a half since Freddie Gibbs delivered a project to the world with Alfredo alongside producer The Alchemist. While that isn’t a lot of time to wait for a new body of work from an artist, Gibbs is more than ready to unload a collection of raps on his fans. In the past year, Gibbs dropped “Big Boss Rabbit” and “Gang Signs” with Schoolboy Q, in addition to teaming up with the likes Nas, Bobby Sessions, Kenny Mason, and more. Now, Gibbs has aligned himself with Jadakiss, who’s also having quite the year, for their new single “Black Illuminati.”

The video for their new collab portrays them as an impenetrable duo as Freddie and Jada calmly flex their lyrical muscle with menacing raps. The track is presumably the latest single from Gibbs’ upcoming album SSS. While a release date or guest features for it has yet to be revealed, he has shared its roster of producers, and boy is it a good one. Pharrell, Madlib, Working On Dying, The Alchemist, Sevn Thomas, Hit-Boy, Boi-1da, Jake One, DJ Paul, Justice League, Tay Keith, Kaytranada, Bizness Boi, Kenny Beats, and Mike Will Made-It are all set to supply records for SSS according to Gibbs.

Morray And Benny The Butcher Vow To ‘Never Fail’ While Reaching For The Top

North Carolina rapper Morray went from a practically unknown name to one of rap’s most promising new acts in a matter of just one year. He first rose to fame through the success of his breakout single, “Quicksand.” He later released his debut project, Street Sermons, which helped him secure a position in the 2021 XXL Freshman class. Morray’s success continued as he appeared on J. Cole’s album The Off-Season and joined the rapper on his nationwide tour supporting the album. Now, Morray’s back with new music as Benny The Butcher accompanies him on his latest single, “Never Fail.”

Together, Morray and Benny address their haters and speak about overcoming the pressures of becoming successful. The new track arrives with a video that follows the duo as they tour New York City. The duo eventually lurks around the tall skyscrapers of the city while sharing their determination to reach the top and not allow anyone to stop them. Prior to “Never Fail,” Morray teamed up with Tyla Yaweh for “Hands Up,” a track that the pair used to fight for the freedom of a loved one. Morray also celebrated his recent success on the triumphant “Bad Situations” earlier this year.

As for Benny The Butcher, he recently signed a deal to Def Jam after appearing on Reason’s No More No Less: Demo 1 EP with Wale, Isaiah Rashad, Ade, and Zacari.

Bryson Tiller, Justin Bieber, And Poo Bear Deal With Holiday Heartbreak On ‘Lonely Christmas’

Earlier this year, Bryson Tiller shared a deluxe reissue for his third album Anniversary. The re-release extended the project’s original ten songs to 15 while recruiting Big Sean to join Drake as the small cast of guest acts on the project. While some might’ve believed that was all Tiller had to offer in 2021, the Lousiville singer is back with another body of work to bring in the holiday season: A Different Christmas, which is highlighted by “Lonely Christmas” with Justin Bieber and Poo Bear.

The song leans towards the acoustic side of things as the trio sings through heartbreak and the realization that the holiday season won’t be spent with the people they held closest to their hearts. As for the rest of A Different Christmas, the project also sports appearances from Kiana Lede, Tayla Parx, and Halo.

Prior to its release, Tiller spoke about A Different Christmas and shared what inspired him to create it. “Before we get into my next album, I wanted to share another special project I worked on for you guys,” he wrote. “This one was really fun to make. Inspired by Bieber, Ariana, and by one of my loneliest holiday seasons ever.”

Sydnee Goodman Is Building A More Inclusive Streaming Empire

Multi-hyphenate content creator Sydnee Goodman can trace her love of gaming to the womb. No, really. Her mother often replays the story of how her dad – an avid gamer himself — made a promise before she was even born, one that’s almost prophetic now, given Goodman’s career path.

“He said, ‘As soon as this kid knows how to use their thumbs, they will be playing games,’ and he kept his promise,” Goodman tells Uproxx over Zoom. Those first few years were more about watching than actually doing, of course. Some of Goodman’s earliest memories consist of her dad playing some PC game with her saddled alongside and him explaining what he was doing and how he was doing it.

“It’s always been this thing that’s kind of permeated my life,” she says. “Honestly, a lot of the important relationships in my life have video games as a bonding place.”

Though her upbringing was steeped in analog adventures and pixelated playtime, Goodman often imagined a more traditional path for her adult self. She went to USC with the goal of becoming a pediatric surgeon. Then, she decided to try dentistry. She took the entrance exam, graduated with a degree in biology, and suddenly realized that none of it was for her. Gaming kept calling to her.

Goodman spent years working with different publishing teams and media houses before her experience, insights, and Twitch streaming morphed into something that would allow her to do what she loved while inspiring others to do the same. Eventually, she’d find herself hosting The Gaming Awards, a gig that flipped a “mental switch.” She started hosting other gaming shows on platforms with hundreds of thousands of subscribers and for media companies like IGN who owned the space. She was writing her own scripts and leading creative conversations for brands until one day she had an epiphany.

“I hit a point where I realized, ‘Whoa, I can do this on my own. And if I do that on my own, I have full creative control and I have full control over how I want to show up on the internet rather than that being through the lens of something else.”

To take control of her narrative, Goodman continued to build her own brand on streamers like Twitch and social media platforms like Instagram, Youtube, Tik Tok, and more. Her driving purpose? To create a space where everyone feels included, appreciated, and seen. She envisions a community where no one – particularly women and minorities – thinks they need permission to try something new, whether that be gaming or anything else. That sense of freedom and ownership over her online portfolio has been hard to come by. As a woman in a historically male-dominated field, she’s battled against misconceptions and harmful stereotypes.

“It’s something that has fueled me,” she admits. “It’s made me really passionate about helping empower people, especially people who are minorities in this industry, to know how they should be treated and give them the confidence and the tools to know how to show up to the table. Coming with a completely different perspective is so valuable and brings so much to any creative process, especially gaming.”

It’s why she crafted a mission statement when she began her current content creation empire. She’s constantly asking this question of herself: How are the things I’m doing and sharing adding value?

“The brand that I’m building is towards this idea: You are empowered to make these decisions about how you live your life and what you’re interested in, versus having that thrust upon you,” she says.

And she’s fully aware of the preconceived notions attached to her work. As Goodman describes it, the creator economy is all about buckets. There are traditional hosts for branded shows and big events. Then there’s the bucket that the Twitch streamers, YouTubers, and Instagram influencers, fall into.

“But, there’s a handful of us in gaming that are in that middle ground of the Venn diagram,” she explains. “Right now, I’m really focused on cementing myself as both.”

Remember that prediction Goodman’s dad made when she was young? (Technically it was a promise, but we’ll take some artistic liberties.) That same kind of kismet pops up when I ask what being named one of The Next 9 creators by Porsche means to her at this point in her career.

She pauses, then tells a story – a lame anecdote in her words – that feels dangerously close to another exaggerated turn of phrase: fate.

A few years ago, Goodman hit a big goal that happened to coincide with her purchase of a Porsche Macan. That car — one she practically says she lives in because, well, it’s L.A. – has always been a “sweet reminder” of what it feels like to reach her goals and actually take a pause to recognize her achievements. The fact that it’s Porsche that, once again, is giving her the chance to look back on what she’s done and look forward to the things she still aspires to do, is not lost on her.

I ask her about that word: aspirational. It’s one that describes her career so far but I’m curious to see how she answers with the future tense in mind.

“It’s on the tip of your tongue,” she begins. “You’re on the cusp. For me, when something becomes aspirational, it almost feels like it’s an alignment of my goals.”

“That saying, ‘Shoot for the moon and land on the stars’ or whatever? When something really becomes aspirational to me, it feels like it’s the moon,” she continues. “It’s in my purview. It’s this very exciting energy. It’s in my lane. The next part is just on me on whether or not I want to achieve it and how I’m going to get there. It feels like it’s the start of a journey.”

Kansas Walk-On Jared Casey Landed An Applebee’s Commercial After Catching The Game-Winner Against Texas

The Kansas Jayhawks stunned the college football world with an upset win over the Texas Longhorns (who have had a really rough last few weeks) on Saturday, creating panic in Austin and rare, football-related jubilation in Lawrence. There were many heroes in the shocking victory, but walk-on fullback Jared Casey was chief among them, catching the game-winning two-point conversion. Given that Casey had never played a single offensive snap at the college level until the matchup against Texas, he was a wildly unlikely source for the biggest play of the day, but Casey has wisely turned the newfound attention into monetary value.

Shortly after the win, it was widely reported that Casey agreed to a couple of NIL deals, including Applebee’s and a local automotive dealership. With haste, Applebee’s put together a commercial with Casey at the center of the frame.

The commercial features a raw video of Casey’s parents reacting to his big catch and he is also featured saying he’d be going to Applebee’s following the win. That particular answer was reminiscent of the famous post-Super Bowl commercials for Walt Disney World (the Lopez Brothers’ favorite place on earth), and Casey also managed to slip in the “go for two” with perfect synergy between his two-point conversion and a menu item at Applebee’s.

Overall, this is strong viral marketing and the video undoubtedly created even more attention for Applebee’s. Casey may not replicate his on-field moment, but this is one of the beauties of the newfound system that allows college athletes to benefit in a way they simply couldn’t in previous years.

Saba Pushes Past His Insecurities In The Commanding Video For ‘Stop That’

Saba is just a few months away from giving us his first album in almost four years, and its upcoming arrival couldn’t come any faster. The Chicago rapper revealed the upcoming body of work is titled Few Good Things after releasing its presumed lead single, “Fearmonger,” earlier this month. Saba continues the campaign for Few Good Things with its second single, “Stop That.” The new track is a hard-hitting effort that finds the rapper tackling his insecurities and motivating himself to never succumb to them.

In a press release that arrived with the song, Saba spoke about the meaning of the track to him. “I feel like more often than not, we let our own judgement of ourselves knock our confidence off before anyone else even offers any feedback,” he said. “Our own insecurities ring really loudly in our heads, to the point where we make ourselves smaller before giving anyone else the chance to.” He added, “This is something that I feel like I found myself beginning to do over the years. Hiding from the uncomfortable moment. And this song works as my noticing and correcting that.”

In addition to sharing the new song, Saba also revealed that Few Good Things will arrive on February 4, 2022, leaving fans with less than three months to prepare for the project’s release.

A Man Was Shot Near Young Dolph’s Memorial, Leading To The Arrest Of Three People

The music world is still reeling from the unexpected death of Memphis rapper Young Dolph. He was shot and killed at Makeda’s Cookies, a bakery that Dolph often shopped at. As the community continues to mourn his death, another shooting occurred near Makeda’s on Thursday. According to FOX 13, a man was shot at the Family Dollar next door to the bakery. The Memphis Police Department confirmed that two people were arrested at the scene in connection to the incident and a third was detained at a nearby intersection. According to Revolt, the victim is currently in non-critical condition.

The incident occurred after Memphis police revealed that Young Dolph’s alleged killers were caught on camera moments before the shooting. In the footage, one man appears to be holding an AK-47 Draco machine pistol while another man fires with a handgun. Both individuals wore masks and were dressed in hoodies and sweatpants. Witnesses at the scene said the two men fled the scene in a “lighter-colored Mercedes.”

It was also revealed that Dolph was set to host a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway in Memphis on the same day he was tragically shot and killed. “This is the holidays. There’s more to it than just giving away turkeys,” Dolph said during a turkey giveaway he held in 2018. “I’m here to flood the area and the city with positive vibes. Ain’t nothing like family. When you come to Memphis, you get the family vibe. All of my partners, friends, they’re from my neighborhood. Everyone here is for the support, and it’s really just about capturing the positive vibe around the holidays.”

Gina Carano’s Next Movie (Following Her ‘The Mandalorian’ Firing) Sounds Right Up Conspiracy Theorists’ Alleys

Less than a year ago, Gina Carano tweeted herself out of best role (in Disney+’s The Mandalorian) with a flurry of contempt for pronouns and an anti-Semitic meme, among other things. The far-right was so very angry about Carano’s firing and began to rail against “cancel culture,” and before long, the self-styled provocateur known as Ben Shapiro decided that he (with the Daily Wire in tow) would help resurrect Carano’s career, even as she claimed that she’d been “bullied” out of the bounty-hunting, Baby Yoda-starring series.

Well, Carano already blew through filming a Western called Terror on the Prairie (co-starring fellow outspoken convervative Nick Searcy), and here comes her next effort, which will fuel the whole Biden-Ukraine conspiracy theory. Yep, Carano’s about to focus too much on Hunter Biden’s laptop in My Son Hunter, a biopic of Joe Biden’s beleaguered progeny. Carano will portray a secret service agent, and here are more details from Deadline:

“She is a world-weary secret service agent present at most of the Biden family’s dodgy dealings. She provides a voice of truth and Sardonic comedy over the absurd dealings of the Biden family and various Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian oligarchs,” said the pic’s producer Phelim McAleer. “She is present throughout the film – commenting and sometimes narrating the absurd life and party lifestyle of Hunter Biden and the dodgy dealings of his father.”

You know that the movie’s producer is serious about the “dodgy” descriptor, since he used it twice. Well hey, though, at least Carano knows her own audience now, and she’s probably a lot happier now. And Pedro Pascal may or may not be relieved that he won’t be explaining the significance of pronouns to any co-stars when he’s back in the armor.
