The latest Deftones album is 2020’s Ohms, and while it’s been nearly five years since then, it looks like a new one is coming very soon.
In a recent appearance on The Dr. Greenthumb Show (as MetalSucks notes), Everlast was with Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter and he said:
“Since we’re going to be on this kind of, you know, throwing flowers around attitude, this man has a record coming out much sooner, in August, that I just heard a few songs from. [It] sounds like Deftones all got in time machines and got back out and hit the studio last week and are feeling young and beautiful. That record is amazing, man, all three [songs] that I heard… It’s gonna be a good musical summer for people who like what we do. Or summer for them; for you and me, probably end of the year.”
Son Doobie of the hip-hop group Funkdoobiest also said in the same interview, “The music you played Steph, [Carpenter] is always treating us to what he’s got going. And, man, those songs are amazing. And, like I said, man, Chino [Moreno] sounds amazing… Just on it, man, and sharp, man.”
However, there has been no official confirmation from the band that an album is coming.

For her Short N’ Sweet tour, Sabrina Carpenter partnered with Plus1, a nonprofit that per their website has programs including “a variety of offerings for artists and brands to engage in social impact in the ways that best suit their needs and interests.” Through Plus1, The Sabrina Carpenter Fund was launched, and one dollar from every tour ticket sold went to the fund. In less than a year, it has raised over $1 million, which is a record for the platform, as Forbes notes.
Per a 2024 annual report, “Sabrina’s team carefully selected nonprofit organizations that align with her values, ensuring that every dollar raised makes a meaningful difference.” Those organizations include the Best Friends Animal Society, The Jed Foundation, and the LGBT National Help Center.
Carpenter’s fund raised $824,000 during the North American dates of her tour before crossing the $ million mark during the European dates.
Carpenter told Forbes, “Less than a year ago, I launched a fund with PLUS1 around the Short n’ Sweet tour to help support some of the issue areas that matter most to me–mental health, animal welfare and LGBTQ+ rights. I’m so grateful that I get to use my platform to amplify the work of incredible organizations like the JED Foundation, PAPYRUS, and Rainbow Railroad. The work of these groups is truly life-changing – from The JED Foundation’s focus on protecting teen mental health and preventing suicide, to PAPYRUS, which provides mental health support for LGBTQ+ youth in the UK through its 24/7 hotline, to Rainbow Railroad, which helps ensure safety and freedom for LGBTQ+ people around the world.”
When Tyler Childers announced his new album Snipe Hunter last month, he did so while sharing “Nose On The Grindstone,” a song that fans already knew from his live performances of it over the years. Today (July 2), he has another Snipe Hunter song out, and it’s a similar story.
It’s not quite the same, though: While “Nose On The Grindstone” was a frequent live favorite (and a version of it is one of his most-streamed songs on Spotify), “Oneida” has been more of a rarity. Here he is performing it in 2016, and setlist.fm indicates he’s played it live only a handful of times since then.
Regarless, it’s a song fans have been eagerly awaiting. When Childers announced the release on Instagram last week, comments included, “9 years 2 kids 1 husband have happened while waiting for this damn song,” and, “This album is for the OGs. Just feel it.”
Listen to “Oneida” above. Childers also shared the Snipe Hunter tracklist, so find that below.

Ethel Cain (aka Hayden Anhedönia) kicked off the year with the new project Perverts, following her breakout 2022 debut album Preacher’s Daughter. In March, she announced another new album, Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You, and in June, she shared “Nettles.”
Today (July 2) brings another new song: “F*ck Me Eyes,” a swelling, anthemic, synth-led number. Cain says in a statement:
“Continuing in the theme of high school anxieties, ‘F*ck Me Eyes’ (on top of being an homage to one of my favorite pop songs of all time, ‘Bette Davis Eyes’) is meant to be an ode to the girls who are perfect and have everything, yet carry the reputation of town slut. The beautiful blonde who is just lonely and wants to be loved, that all the adults condemn to each other, who ultimately is the girl everyone simultaneously can’t stand and wants to be. I wrote the beginning of this song five years ago, making it the oldest demo for the record. As the story became more fleshed out, I realized it had a more relevant place on the album than I originally thought. This song represents Ethel’s complicated feelings for the girl she’s convinced has caught her crush’s eye, as well as her 16-year-old thoughts on the matter.”

We haven’t had new music from Foo Fighters since their latest album, 2023’s But Here We Are. But, here we are in 2025, where the group is celebrating 30 years of existence. To mark the occasion, Dave Grohl and company have released a new song, “Today’s Song.”
Grohl’s daughter Harper created the art used for the single cover.
Grohl also shared a lengthy message that reflects on former band members, including Taylor Hawkins and Josh Freese. It reads in part:
“Over the years, we’ve had moments of unbridled joy, and moments of devastating heartbreak. Moments of beautiful victory, and moments of painful defeat. We have mended broken bones and broken hearts. But we have followed this road together, with each other, for each other, no matter what. Because in life, you just can’t go it alone.
It should go without saying that without the boundless energy of William Goldsmith, the seasoned wisdom of Franz Stahl, and the thunderous wizardry of Josh Freese, this story would be incomplete, so we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the time, music, and memories that we shared with each of them over the years. Thank you, gentlemen.
And… Taylor. Your name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile, but you are still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever. The enormity of your beautiful soul is only rivaled by the infinite longing we feel in your absence. We all miss you beyond words. Foo Fighters will forever include Taylor Hawkins in every note that we play, until we do finally reach our destination.”

LaRussell’s schedule is busier than just about anybody’s, but he put some time aside to visit Uproxx Studios and be the latest guest on Sound Check. The new episode arrives shortly after the June release of Good Ethika, LaRussell’s whopping seventh new album of 2025. Host Jeremy Hecht put quite the challenge in front of LaRussell, tasking him to choose between two of his own songs. LaRussell also looked outward as he made some other tough selections, picking between Prince and Michael Jackson, Kendrick Lamar and Tyler The Creator, and even Drake and… Drake.
Here’s how it works: Jeremy plays two songs for the guest artist, who has to choose one and explain their choice, giving Jeremy a chance to learn their musical taste. Jeremy then has to guess the artist’s life anthem, the song they’d take to a desert island, which the guest wrote down earlier on a piece of paper. Our production team has also given him a decoy song, and Jeremy has to guess which is correct based on what he’s learned in the previous rounds.
Watch LaRussell take on the Sound Check challenge above. New episodes of Sound Check drop every Wednesday at noon ET/9 a.m. PT on Uproxx’s YouTube.
All eyes are on Oasis right now as the band prepare to launch their long-awaited reunion tour this week, on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales. Before they start, though, they have a bit of pre-tour news: Today (July 2), they’ve announced a deluxe 30th-anniversary edition of the iconic album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?.
Most notably, the reissue includes new unplugged versions of five songs: “Cast No Shadow,” “Morning Glory,” “Wonderwall,” “Acquiesce,” and “Champagne Supernova.” The new versions were “produced and mixed by Noel Gallagher and Callum Marinho from the original master recordings,” per a press release. The unplugged version of “Acquiesce” is available now.
Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher recently promised a straightforward stage presence on Oasis‘ reunion shows, saying, “We’re just gonna walk on and get on with it we’re not at the f*cking circus we’re not getting fired out of a cannon ball and we’re not SHOWOFFS.”

Zach Bryan is prone to dropping new songs out of nowhere outside of an album cycle. He unveiled “High Road” last year amid relationship drama and shared “Dear Miss” to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl, for example. Now, he’s done it again times three.
As Stereogum notes, Bryan played his first UK festival headline show at BST Hyde Park in London, and during the set, he played an unreleased song called “Streets Of London.”
Bryan promised to release the song on Monday, June 30, but he didn’t. In an Instagram Story, he explained:
“yoooo decided to put two songs out instead of just one it’s gonna take an extra day!! Songs’ll be out Tuesday sorry sorry sorry
They are kind of just tunes that didn’t belong on the record, and they didn’t fit on an EP either, so I’m just releasing them to get them out into the world cause I love them. Hope you guys enjoy them. I love each one of ya!! even the folks who talked mad sh*t all year
also only five people ever have sold out Hyde Park two nights in a row. I have you guys to thank for it. I love you so much for showing out London. I will love your beautiful city and country forever! See you next time!”
The songs didn’t arrive on Tuesday either, but today, he dropped a whopping three new songs.

With his fourth studio album, God Does Like Ugly, peeking over the horizon, JID has gone back to one of his favorite standbys: releasing a fiery freestyle to help promote the project. He dropped “30” back in January 2024 and “31” in October, so of course, his latest is “32.”
The video opens with a scroll running down his accomplishments over the past few years: 3 Grammy nominations, 4.6 billion YouTube views, and cheekily, “best rapper under 100 years old.” The rest of the video features fuzzy VHS footage of his exploits on the football field (he played two seasons of NCAA Division I football at Hampton University before his rap career took off). Funnily enough, did you know JID’s real last name is “Route?” You could say he was born to ball — only now, he does so in a different arena.
While JID has already released two videos to promote God Does Like Ugly — “Bodies” and “WRK” — “32” doesn’t appear to be an offical video for the album. Instead, it’s part of a mixtape he’s releasing on the 4th of July as a prelude to the project titled GDLU Preluxe, presented by JD Sports. Between JID and J. Cole, Dreamville remains on the cutting edge of the overlap between athletics and music.
Watch JID’s video for “32” above.
God Does Like Ugly is due on 8/9 via Dreamville/Interscope. You can find more info here.
