Taste the Nation With Padma Lakshmi: Holiday Edition (Hulu series) — The Emmy-winning host returns for a new quartet of journeys in this four episodes that will celebrate indigenous traditions and immigrant-based holidays across America. Once again, Padma’s breaking bread while exploring stories that explore exactly what it means to be American. Journey with her to Los Angeles (for Korean New Year) and Miami (for Cuban Christmas), along with other feasts that take place in Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.

Head of the Class: Season 1 (HBO Max series) — Bill Lawrence executive produces this reboot of the 1980s sitcom. Robin Givens is back as the grown-up Darlene, and the show focuses heavily upon a group of overachieving teenagers that must adapt to an unorthodox teacher, who wants her students to experience life rather than focus so heavily upon their grades.

Law and Order: SVU (NBC, 9:00pm) — A teenage sex worker goes missing, which leads Rollins and Velasco on a wild dive into a pile of previously overlooked missing persons reports, from which a clue emerges.

Law and Order: Organized Crime (NBC, 10:00pm) — Elliot Stabler and his newfound beard been doing the undercover thing, which has grown progressively more dangerous. This time, he’s in true jeopardy of being exposed or being double crossed in what looks like a literally explosive episode.

Ghosts (CBS, 9:00pm) — A freelance journalist and a chef move into a massive country estate while hoping to transform it into a bed-and-breakfast. As the title indicates, however, there are ghosts afoot, and they’re comedic. So, there’s a Prohibition-era lounge singer, a hippie who indulges in hallucinogens, a scout leader, and a Militiaman.

Doom Patrol: Season 3 (HBO Max series) — DC’s struggling misfit superheroes are back for another round of being portrayed by an incredible cast. Brendan Fraser has received plenty of raves for his fury-filled Cliff Steele/Robotman, and more kudos should go to Diana Guerrero (Orange is the New Black) as Crazy Jane, which is actually a role that requires Diane to play dozens of incarnations, including a timely take on a Karen.

The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon

Late Night With Seth Meyers

In case you missed these picks from last week:

Love Life: Season 2 (HBO Max series) — Love Life ended up being the HBO Max original show to launch the service, and Season 2 is upon us with Anna Kendrick’s Darby passing the baton to a new unlucky-in-love protagonist, Marcus, who will be portrayed by William Jackson Harper. He did the whole sunk-cost investment thing, apparently, and now, he’s finding himself in the hell hole known as the dating world. Godspeed, Marcus.

Star Trek: Prodigy: Season 1 (Paramount+ series) — This animated series sees the return of Kate Mulgrew’s Captain Janeway to this universe, sort of! She’ll appear in hologram form, and she’ll guide a ragtag group of alien youngsters who end up on the U.S.S. Protostar ship. Jason Mantzoukas voices one of those aliens, all of whom are outcasts and completely out of their league but ready for the Starfleet life, its ideals, and all of its inherent adventure.

Rolling Loud Explains Why The Festival’s Organizers Are Backing DaBaby’s Upcoming Tour

Just a few months after he was censured over making questionable comments during a concert in Miami, DaBaby has bounced back, announcing his Live Show Killa Tour hitting 22 major cities over the next three months. The tour is presented by Rolling Loud, the festival where he initially got into trouble and started his comeback by appearing at the festival’s New York iteration this past weekend during his mentor 50 Cent’s headlining set.

According to TMZ, a representative for Rolling Loud says the festival’s organizers believe that DaBaby has learned his lesson and grown as a person. In the aftermath of the initial backlash against him, he was removed from several festivals‘ previously-booked lineups and publicly rebuked by a number of public entities, including his “Levitating” collaborator Dua Lipa, pop icon Elton John, and GLAAD, which issued a statement calling his words “inaccurate, hurtful, and harmful.”

During his Rolling Loud set in July, DaBaby tried to hype up the crowd, but his awkwardly-worded exhortation wound up coming across as homophobic and discriminatory. “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexual transmitted diseases that make you die in two or three weeks, then put your cell phone light in the air,” he said. “Fellas, if you ain’t suck a n****’s dick in the parking lot, put your cell phone light in the air.”

Throughout the wave of criticism elicited by his statements, DaBaby either flat-out refused to apologize or egged on his detractors, although he did meet with a number of HIV/AIDs advocate groups. The incident extended into a bit in Dave Chappelle’s new Netflix special and became a hot topic of debate, but that didn’t stop LGBTQ nonprofit organization Relationship Unleashed from issuing a statement about both that spawned a mini-controversy of its own.

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Is Set To Host A Job Fair In Madison Square Garden This Month

Jay-Z may not be the best at using social media, but the billionaire is still a savvy businessman, and his Roc Nation company wants to help lift up others in the working world. That’s why they’re set to host a massive job fair in New York City’s Madison Square Garden later this month. There, job seekers can learn to leverage their skills and be interviewed for perspective roles on the spot.

The fair takes place November 18 in Madison Square Garden. Those in attendance will be able to speak with companies like Zara, Lowe’s, Madison Square Garden, Amazon, Foot Locker, Live Nation, Vice, and 40/40 Club and more. They’ll also have the opportunity to seek advice on resume building, professional attire, and receive styling and grooming services.

In a statement about the job fair, Team Roc’s managing director Dania Diaz talked about the opportunities that are created by the event:

“The Team Roc New York Job Fair is a real opportunity for socio-economic mobility for New Yorkers – those who want to work, yet have not had the exposure or connections to the right-fit jobs, or to the support services that can strengthen their prospects for employment. My hope is this event will not only stimulate New York’s economy but pair the state’s best and brightest employees with the country’s leading organizations. It is also a chance for us to work together – public, private, nonprofit sectors – to address the state’s labor shortages in a meaningful way.”

NBA Player Giannis Antetokounmpo Was Vibing Hard At The Harry Styles Show And Thinks He’s ‘A Great Performer’

As if we needed more proof that Harry Styles is currently putting on one of the best live shows of all-time… NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo just gave the pop star a huge compliment. It’s been well-documented that Harry’s fan base is primarily teen girls, and unlike other performers before him, he’s always honored and respected their fandom with a beautiful reverence. But despite the fact that the show was overwhelming attended by women, Antetokounmpo was undeterred in his own fandom. The “Greek Freak” as he’s affectionately called by some NBA fans had to let the internet know that he loved Styles’ show: “I just went to @Harry_Styles concert and it was 99% women and me 😂,” Antetokounmpo tweeted. “I’m a big fan, what a great performer.”

Eagle-eyed fans caught Giannis — who, let’s face it, is a little hard to miss — fully vibing to the music. That’s proof he’s a real head, not just a poser. We have no choice but to stan this man:

And actually, this isn’t even the first time Giannis has proven he knows the power of One Direction. Back in 2020 he posted himself on Instagram enjoying One Direction classics like “Best Song Ever” and “What Makes You Beautiful.”

This man is a true fan, and officially a Directioner in my book.

The Capitol Rioter Who Said She Wouldn’t Go To Jail Because She’s Blonde And White Is… Going To Jail

After openly bragging about her participation in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol building, it’s no surprise that Texas real estate agent and social media influencer Jenna Ryan was one of the first batch rioters to be arrested. Ryan’s social media posts provided ample evidence that she participated in Donald Trump‘s insurrectionist “Stop the Steal” rally, but one particular post is coming back to haunt her.

In March, Ryan tweeted at one of her “haters” that there’s no way she’s going to prison. “Definitely not going to jail. Sorry I have blonde hair white skin a great job a great future and I’m not going to jail.” Unfortunately for Ryan, that tweet not only proved to be incorrect, but also sealed her fate as she was sentenced to 60 days in prison on Thursday morning. Via WUSA9:

In part because of the attention her own media appearances drew to the case, [U.S. District Judge Christopher] Cooper said people would be looking to her sentence to see what the penalty was for attacking democratic institutions.

“I think that sentence should show them we take it seriously,” he said.

Following the sentencing, Ryan told reporters outside of the courtroom that she was being “persecuted” by the media. Although, she did admit that her social media activity wasn’t the best idea. “Yes, I regret ever tweeting,” Ryan said, and frankly, who doesn’t? There’s a real lesson here besides not overthrowing the government. Definitely try and avoid that.

Chicago Has Influenced Ausar On All Levels

Family is important, but for rising rapper Ausar (who you might remember from Netflix’s hip-hop competition series Rhythm + Flow), it represents the key to him becoming the budding star that he is today.

After laying down his musical foundation with the gospel sounds he learned in church with his mother, his brother got him into hip-hop.

“We would write and listen to instrumentals,” he says. “It went from me being competitive with my older brother over having to have the best verse to me really having a love for hip-hop.”

Ausar grew up in Chicago, a proud city known for its many beloved hip-hop icons. For him, the city was pivotal in his development.

“It [Chicago] has influenced my style. Chicago has influenced me on all levels,” he adds, giving a nod toward his music and his efforts to show up for the community as an advocate and example.

Besides hip-hop, Ausar has learned a lot of lessons from the game of basketball. Most importantly, discipline. “More than anything, knowing that it requires a regiment to get to where you’d like to go,” he says. “The results come directly from the work you’re willing to put in. On the other side is knowing your role within the team. Knowing when to step up and be a leader. Knowing when to fall back and rely on the people around you. You have a team for a reason: you can’t do everything on your own.”

That drive and positive mindset haven’t made Ausar immune to challenges in his career, though.

“Every step on the road, I’ve faced some form of rejection to get to the yeses,” he says. “I’ve had instances where I entered competitions and I felt like I was good enough, but didn’t end up winning. It killed my confidence. Then I came back around, did the work, was right back in those same positions, and succeeded in them.”

His experience on Rhythm + Flow ended in disappointment, but he knows how rare an opportunity it was and he’s using it as a building block.

“I was knocked out in the first round, but years later, we’re getting the results we were looking for,” he says. Ausar’s absolutely right on that. His recent single, “Homies,” has been gaining traction on streaming platforms and is racking up tens of thousands of plays.

As Ausar continues his journey, he hopes that other up-and-comers like himself can observe and take something away from it.

“I’m continuing to be myself and be a resource and an outlet for anybody who needs one,” he says. “I think a lot of people feel like you have to fit into a very particular box in order to be successful, but that’s not the case at all. As long as you stay true to you, you’ll find it.”

LeBron James Could Miss At Least A Week As The Lakers Want ‘To Take Their Time’ With His Abdominal Strain

The Los Angeles Lakers won’t have LeBron James for Thursday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and his absence looks like it will extend beyond just this one game. James is dealing with an abdominal strain, and according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, the plan is to take a slow and stead approach to getting him back onto the floor.

While no timeline for his return has been provided by the Lakers, a source familiar with the injury told ESPN that the team’s medical staff “wants to take their time” with James’ recovery.

A clear-cut timeline still is not available for when James can take the floor, but Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the expectation is the Lakers star will miss at least a week due to the injury.

James has missed two games this season, although both of those were due to a lingering ankle issue. This injury, per McMenamin, was aggravated on Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets. The Lakers sit at 5-3 at this early point in the season — they went 1-1 in James’ previous absence — while the team’s former league MVP has struggled by his lofty standards. On the year, James is averaging 24.8 points, seven assists, and 5.5 rebounds in 37 minutes per game.

Rhea Seehorn Is Excited For The Final Season Of ‘Better Call Saul’ To ‘Blow People’s Minds’

Rhea Seehorn plays a lawyer on TV, but she’s an expert in confidentiality in real life, too. She’s probably been asked dozens, if not hundreds of times about the final season of Better Call Saul and whether her character, Kim Wexler, will survive, but she hasn’t slipped once. For instance, in a Variety interview to promote her short-form digital series Cooper’s Bar, Seehorn kept her lips sealed about Saul‘s “deep dark secrets.”

But she did reveal that Bob Odenkirk, who suffered a heart attack in July, is “doing amazing. And like I said, whether I’m in scripts or not, I get to read them and I can tell you that this season is insane. It’s going to blow people’s minds. I can’t wait for it to come out.”

In the season five finale, Saul and Kim are jokingly pitching ways to ruin Howard’s career in order to get the Sandpiper case to settle — until Saul realizes that Kim isn’t joking with her talk of misconduct and bribery. “You would not be OK with it. Not in the cold light of day,” Saul warns. Kim takes a pause. “Wouldn’t I?” she says before getting up and flashing him the same finger guns that he gave her in the season four finale. The first half of 2022, when Better Call Saul is expected to return, can’t get here soon enough.
