Rich The Kid And Lil Wayne Announce Their Joint Album, ‘Trust Fund Babies,’ And Its Release Date

Rich The Kid and Lil Wayne have both been quite active in the hip-hop world over the last couple of years. Rich The Kid dropped his Lucky 7 EP earlier this year after collaborating with Youngboy Never Broke Again for their 2020 joint project, Nobody Safe. Lil Wayne returned with his thirteenth album Funeral last year while also delivering deluxe reissues for the 2020 effort as well as his 2018 album, Tha Carter V. Now, for the rappers’ latest act, they’ll be joining forces for a new joint album titled Trust Fund Babies.

The project was announced on Thursday through Rich The Kid’s social media pages. He also unveiled the album’s cover art which depicts drawings of the two rappers as cartoon babies. The rapper also confirmed that fans would not have to wait too long to press play on it, as it’s set to release on October 1. Young Money’s president Mack Maine, who has been beside Lil Wayne for the majority of the rapper’s career, previously confirmed that Wayne and Rich The Kid were in the studio together working on a project together.

Maine also confirmed that fans can expect more projects from Wayne in the near future. They include I Am Not a Human Being III and Collegrove 2 with 2 Chainz.

Nintendo Online Will Add Nintendo 64 And Sega Genesis Games With Online Multiplayer

Nintendo Online is one of the more frustrating online offerings out there. Despite costing $20 for a full-year package, the benefits of it feel very underutilized. For example, one of the coolest features is the ability to play from a selection of NES and SNES games at any point. They’re all emulated straight from the console and it’s a very neat feature. The problem is these libraries aren’t updated all that often and while they do feature some of the heavy hitters, like Super Mario World and The Legend of Zelda, when it does update it will frequently feature really obscure titles.

It’s possible that Nintendo Online will soon be receiving a huge shot in the arm, however. During Thursday’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Nintendo Online would be adding not only Nintendo 64 titles to their online service, but SEGA Genesis games as well. This means games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Star Fox 64, Mario 64, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will soon be playable all from your Nintendo Switch. To sweeten the deal, Nintendo even announced that all these games would feature online multiplayer. GoldenEye 007 multiplayer anyone?

Now for the inevitable downside to all of this. Remember when we said that everyone is kind of disappointed with the current Nintendo Online offerings? Well, these new features will only be available in an entirely new online plan that’s going to be a tier higher than the current one. So anyone that is already shelling out the $20 a year for the current online package will now have to pay even more. The price gets even steeper for players that want to play on the authentic controllers that Nintendo will be offering.

The good in all of this is that this means that some of our favorite games ever are going to be available on the Switch. The addition of multiplayer is amazing and it feels like yet another reason to buy one. The problem is that Nintendo’s history of how it handles Nintendo Online, and really the internet in general, doesn’t create confidence in spending more money on their online service. The SNES and NES Online features, while cool, have new games added to them at a drip pace. If the Nintendo 64 Online and SEGA Genesis Online features come out, and both of them have extremely limited libraries, it’s going to feel like yet another example of Nintendo making big promises for online without backing it up. Hopefully, that isn’t the case this time, because it would be awesome to launch it on day one and see a full library of great games to play.

James Holzhauer Took A Playful Shot At Current ‘Jeopardy!’ Superstar Matt Amodio

Matt Amodio’s dominance on Jeopardy! continued on Thursday as the Ph. D student won his 27th game. Amodio is inching closer to the $1 million mark in winnings, and if he can manage a few more days behind the podium he’ll become one of the most decorated champions in the show’s history.

Amodio’s run has come amid a series of scandals involving the show’s now-former host, and many fans have pointed out that his time as a contestant lasted far longer than several guest hosts, let alone Mike Richards. But apparently not everyone is impressed with his win streak just yet.

Fellow Jeopardy! champion and Greatest of All Time contestant James Holzhauer loves to joke about the show on Twitter, even when it’s about the troubles the syndicated game show has seen in recent weeks. And as Amodio’s streak starts to creep closer to his own 32-game run, Holzhauer decided to make it clear they’re not in the same territory just yet.

“When you order something online vs. when it arrives,” Holzhauer wrote on Twitter, showing an image of himself and Amodio as 23-day champions. The difference here, though, is the monetary difference between those streaks. While Holzhauer racked up more than $1.7 million in that time, Amodio won “just” $825,000.

Holzhauer is just kidding here, of course, as both have been incredibly successful on the show and are excellent champions in their own right. But he does make a good point here: while Amodio may beat Holzhauer’s win streak in the coming days, he’s likely to need a lot more games to reach his total winnings of more than $2.4 million.

People Couldn’t Stop Making Jokes About The Mario Movie Castings

Did you know that a Mario movie is being made? It’s actually been in the works for quite some time and it’s potentially going to be the first of many.

Well, during September’s Nintendo Direct, we finally got some more information about this new movie such as a release target and the casting. However, some of the casting choices were…peculiar to say the least. Chris Pratt as Mario, in particular, was one that rubbed many people the wrong way because it felt like such a weird decision, and of course, because the internet is the way it is everyone had to start memeing it.

However, while Pratt’s reaction received mainly confusion, there was a lot of excitement over the rest of the casting choices. Everyone thinks Charlie Day as Luigi is a genuinely funny choice to play Mario’s younger brother and it led to plenty of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia memes.

Some weren’t even about Day, just Always Sunny.

Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong was a spectacular choice because everyone immediately wanted to hear his laugh as DK.

Then there were plenty who have suggestions for alternative casting choices, with one important question in particular: Who is going to be Wario and Waluigi?

Also, we got a Super Mario RPG reference which was definitely the most important meme of the entire night.

In conclusion, the internet really wants to find a way to get Danny Devito in this game.

A 3D Kirby Game Was Finally Announced During September’s Nintendo Direct

When Nintendo made the jump from 2D to 3D they brought along many of their mascot characters with them. Mario, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong, and others all got huge 3D experiences with massive worlds to explore. One longtime mascot however didn’t get quite the same treatment, as everyone’s favorite little pink puffball, Kirby, continued to live in the 2D space. While Kirby got an experience that used polygons with Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards it was still a side-to-side linear experience. While Mario and Link’s worlds got bigger, and Samus re-imagined the FPS genre, Kirby stayed true to a formula that was very successful. However, Kirby’s biggest fans always had one wish of giving them a 3D experience just like the one Nintendo’s other IPs received.

On Thursday, Nintendo made an announcement that finally gave everyone what they had been asking for. Kirby is getting a 3D experience and the world looks massive. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is coming to the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2022 and it looks fantastic. Obviously, it’s just the first trailer, so we don’t want to put too much stock into it, but the early signs pointed to an experience that was exactly what everyone had been asking for. It still looks and feels like Kirby, but the game is set in a 3D world. It’s a simple wish, but a wish Kirby fans are finally having fulfilled.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

As for the trailer itself, it begins with Kirby awaking on a beach somewhere, which sure doesn’t look like his usual world of Dreamland. Not only that, but the setting looks very post-apocalyptic, which is a surprising change of tone and direction for the usually upbeat Kirby games.

Considering the title “Forgotten Land” we might be seeing Kirby transported to an entirely new world to explore. One fully of mystery to explore and understand. That’s exciting! They’ve already done the plots around Dreamworld to death already so marking his first true 3D experience with an entirely new world to explore is a fun idea. We can’t wait to learn more in the upcoming months as new information comes out about the game.

Consensus Week 3 Fantasy Football Projection Tight End Rankings

As the NFL moves into Week 3, fantasy football players are starting to take stock of their teams as well and gain a more clear view of whether their draft vision resulted in success once the season began.

One of the positions that is the most top-heavy in the NFL is tight end, where the elite of the elite are as valuable, if not more so, than wide receivers, but beyond that elite group, who pops can be wholly dependent on scheme and quarterback situation. The big names are, mostly, doing what’s expected — although it’s been a slower start for George Kittle than usual — while others like Dallas Goedert have become a trusted safety blanket for their quarterbacks. In fantasy, having a great tight end or at least finding one of the surprise steals can be a separator.

This week, the usual suspects dominate the top of the Week 3 projections, as we provide our consensus rankings taking the average of the weekly projections from ESPN, NFL, CBS, and FantasyPros.

  1. Travis Kelce
  2. Darren Waller
  3. TJ Hockenson
  4. George Kittle
  5. Mark Andrews
  6. Rob Gronkowski
  7. Noah Fant
  8. Kyle Pitts
  9. Logan Thomas
  10. Dallas Goedert
  11. Jared Cook
  12. Tyler Higbee
  13. Robert Tonyan
  14. Austin Hooper
  15. Jonnu Smith

Bartenders Name Their Favorite Unexpected Spirits To Sip Straight

There are a handful of spirits that fit the criteria for drinking neat. We’re talking about Scotch, bourbon, rye, and various other whiskeys, rums, tequilas, and mezcals. Otherwise, most spirits are best suited as mixers. Or so drinkers are often led to believe. But if you branch out and try some different spirits, you’ll find that there’s a whole world of unexpected sippers out there just waiting for an ice cube.

Jorge Centeno, head bartender at The Deer Path Inn in Lake Forest, Illinois has a pick that’s usually used as a cocktail ingredient.

“Definitely Vermouth,” he says. “I enjoy it because it’s so full of flavor, it’s fun and complex, the options are endless, lower ABV than vodka or whisky. There is definitely a vermouth for everyone.”

Centeno isn’t the only bartender with strong opinions on less-than-typical bottles to enjoy neat or on the rocks. 16 bartenders and mixologists were kind enough to let us in on their picks for the best unexpected bottles to drink straight. Check them all out below and click the prices to buy a bottle for yourself.

Clairin Le Rocher Rum

Clairin Le Rocher

Anton Kinloch, owner of Fuschia Tiki in New Paltz, New York

ABV: 46.5%
Average Price: $40

Why This Bottle?

Clairin Le Rocher specifically due to its use of 30% dunder [the liquid left after distillation] resulting in this incredibly aromatic spirit. It’s also distilled to proof so there’s no additional water added — this is as good as it gets.

Cardenal Mendoza Brandy de Jerez

Cardenal Mendoza

Jeremy Williams, head mixologist at MDRD atop the Amway Grand Plaza in Grand Rapids, Michigan

ABV: 40%
Average Price: $49.99

Why This Bottle?

As a lover of various types of brandy, I have lately been enjoying Cardenal Mendoza brandy de Jerez. Regarded as ‘gran solera reserve,’ this brandy is outrageously complex and shows deep fig and raisin character with notes of old wood and molasses. I love this brandy in a cognac tulip or a snifter.

Amaro Nonino

Amaro Nonino

Daniel Yang, lead bartender of Electra Cocktail Club at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas

ABV: 35%
Average Price: $50

Why This Bottle?

At the end of a hard day, if I really need a solid drink, my go-to is an aperitivo or digestive. One of my favorites is Amaro Nonino. This grapa-based amaro has stronger influences of citrus, gentian, and a touch of caramel, definitely easy to down when in need of a mood pick-me-up.

The Botanist Islay Dry Gin

The Botanist

Darron Foy, bar manager at The Flatiron Room in New York City

ABV: 46%
Average Price: $40

Why This Bottle?

The Botanist Islay Dry Gin. Made by Bruichladdich who knows their way around a distillate, this gin is infused with 22 locally foraged botanicals (such as wood sage, creeping thistle, and lemon balm), it offers a silky texture, with beautiful floral notes that showcase the versatility of the Islay distillery, as well as the complexity of the Island itself.

Fernet-Branca

Fernet-Branca

David Ortiz, corporate beverage manager at Rocco’s Tacos in Tampa, Florida

ABV: 40%
Average Price: $33

Why This Bottle?

A unique spirit that I enjoy drinking neat is Fernet-Branca Liqueur. It’s an Italian aperitivo liqueur that’s very bitter but serves as a digestive. Once you acquire a taste for it, it will become part of your drinking habit.

Dolin Blanc Vermouth

Dolin Blanc

Robert Kidd, head bartender at Le Cavalier in Wilmington, Delaware

ABV: 16%
Average Price: $15.99

Why This Bottle?

Dolin Blanc Vermouth is delightful served chilled. Especially in the summer at the start of a meal or between courses. I love to serve it in a wine glass with a lemon twist and a mint leaf. The lemon adds just the right amount of acid, and the mint leaf really brings out the alpine aromatic quality of the vermouth. Vermouth first and foremost should be something delicious we can enjoy — not just one of the ingredients we reach for when making a martini.

Belvedere Organic Infusions Lemon & Basil Vodka

Belvedere

Federico Doldi, beverage director of Gansevoort Meatpacking in New York City

ABV: 40%
Average Price: $32

Why This Bottle?

I recently had the chance to taste the new range of Belvedere Organic Infusions. I have to be honest, I was not a fan of flavored vodka, but when I tasted the Lemon & Basil there was a party in my mouth. The flavors are so clean and rich that I just add some ice and keep sipping it all day long.

Green Chartreuse

Green Chartreuse

Ryan Mish, bar manager at The Graceful Ordinary in Chicago

ABV: 55%
Average Price: $60

Why This Bottle?

Green Chartreuse makes a great neat pour. It collects dust in a lot of bars but has so many cocktail applications. By itself, it is herbal and sweet but with a proof that leaves you with a warm feeling. It’s great for sipping casually but also can help catch up to friends that are already well into their night.

Suze Liqueur

Suze

Chandra Richter, chief mixologist at Drinkworks

ABV: 20%
Average Price: $30

Why This Bottle?

It may be an acquired taste, but right now I am really enjoying sipping on Suze. It’s a complex French liqueur made from gentian root. It is delicately bitter with layers of citrus and floral. I typically serve it neat, but because of the citrus flavors, it’s really nice with a simple twist of lemon, too.

Christian Drouin Calvados VSOP

Christian Drouin

Adam Fournier, bar director at Fellow in Los Angeles

ABV: 40%
Average Price: $75

Why This Bottle?

I secretly love calvados and almost always have an open bottle on my bar cart. I’m particularly fond of anything produced by the Christian Drouin family. This is some of the best apple brandy in the world and the crisp apple flavors melded with the oak aging with a finish of intense baking spices creates a meal in a glass.

Branca Menta

Branca Menta

David Nasser, bartender at the New Orleans Marriott

ABV: 30%
Average Price: $32

Why This Bottle?

Emphatically, Branca Menta. For years, the “bartender’s handshake” among cocktail culture bearers has been a shot of Fernet-Branca. It’s a bitter, dry aperitif and digestive that isn’t for the meek. Branca Menta, on the other hand, is the mint-tinged version of the same spirit. It slides down easily, with an earthy feel that leaves you warm and fuzzy inside.

[Editor: This is a favorite of mine, too.]

Whisper Creek Tennessee Sipping Cream

Whisper Creek

Brandon Parnell, general manager and director of beverage for Flora-Bama in Perdido Key, Florida

ABV: 20%
Average Price: $22

Why This Bottle?

Whisper Creek Tennessee Sipping Cream. The base spirit for this family of brands is Tennessee whiskey which lends itself perfectly as a complement to the natural flavors that define these killer cream-based products.

Kintaro Honkaku Shochu

Kintaro Shochu

Ryan Pines, beverage director at Ukiah in Asheville, North Carolina

ABV: 25%
Average Price: $35

Why This Bottle?

I would have to say lately it has been Kintaro roasted barley shochu. I can have it straight or in a highball. It’s very versatile and I love that long finish of roasted barley. It’s definitely different, but not to be missed.

Amaro Del’erborista

Del’erborista

Sother Teague, beverage director at Overthrow Hospitality in New York City

ABV: 21%
Average Price: $66

Why This Bottle?

It may be an unexpected bottle to you, but to me, it’s as regular as the mail. Amaro Del’erborista from the Varnelli family in la Marche Italy. It’s a gentian and honey amaro that’s made with honey From bees that pollenate the gentian and local vegetation. This leaves the honey with a distinctively bitter flavor. The botanicals are toasted with open flames before macerating giving the final product a slightly smoky aroma and flavor that’s transportive.

Due to an earthquake, fire and, the global pandemic it’s been hard to come by for a while. If you see it, buy it.

Tequila Cascahuin Plata 48

Cascahuin

Jeff Bell, bartender at PDT in New York City

ABV: 48%
Average Price: $60

Why This Bottle?

Tequila Cascahuin Plata 48. It’s a higher proof blanco tequila that’s actually perfect for sipping on a hot summer day or to have with soda and a squeeze of lime. It’s one of the purest expressions of blanco tequila.

Bozal Guías de Calabaza Mezcal

Bozal

Deke Dunne, master mixologist at Allegory DC in Washington, DC

ABV: 45.5%
Average Price: $98

Why This Bottle?

I recently tried Bozal Guías de Calabaza, their vegetarian pechuga-style mezcal, at Espita, a Washington, DC based mezcaleria. It was an absolute joy to drink. Pechuga is a traditional, ceremonial style mezcal that is usually distilled with chicken or other types of meats, and is incredibly savory and creates a unique drinking experience. I was blown away by Bozal’s vegetarian offering, Guías de Calabaza. Firstly, I had never had a vegetarian pechuga, and secondly, it was one of the most fun drinking experiences I have had in a while. Here they used ingredients such as pumpkin stems, plantains, and seasonal fruits and grains. They also used chepiche, an herb commonly used in Mexican cooking to season meats. It was a super vegetal, as one might expect, but it surprised me with a fruity, but meaty savoriness.

The fact that they could achieve the same savoriness as a regular pechuga while using strictly vegetarian ingredients is super cool stuff. Needless to say, I ended up ordering a couple more pours that evening. This bottle is a limited release but pick it up if you can. You won’t regret it.

Nintendo Announced Chris Pratt Will Play Mario In A Movie And People Kind Of Freaked Out

Nintendo’s Direct event on Thursday had a lot of teases when it came to upcoming games, but perhaps the biggest news came when the event announced the cast of its upcoming Mario movie. Because while people will certainly be excited about new content in Animal Crossing, no one really saw Chris Pratt as Mario coming.

The announcement came near the end of the presentation, when Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto appeared to reveal the main stars of the film. While the movie will be animated, the voice acting decisions are a big deal considering gaming fans have heard these characters saying various phrases for decades. Which is why there was something odd about major Hollywood stars being asked to take on these video game roles.

The biggest name, of course, was Pratt taking the leading role as Mario. The headshot combination along with “Mario” in quotes was, well, very funny.

The rest of the cast announcements were pretty odd as well. While Anya Taylor-Joy playing Princess Peach makes sense, Charlie Day as a “shy” Luigi is certainly interesting as well. Pratt was the main focus of reactions online, though, and his name almost immediately trended on Twitter and earned some interesting reactions.

A lot of people straight up thought the announcement was a joke.

A release date for the movie was announced on Thursday as well: December 21, 2022 in North America. So while the hypothetical image of Pratt with a large mustache and Italian accent may haunt you, it’s not likely we’ll actually see what this movie will look like by way of a trailer for some time.

The inventors of this could have made a fortune. Instead, they’re making kids happy.

This article originally appeared on 03.19.15

Last Christmas, Alex got exactly what he always wanted: a new “robo” arm.

Sure, it’s basically like having a second hand, but it also does something equally important: It totally reflects his personality. How? It’s a “Transformers”-themed arm.

How did this come about?

Engineering student Albert Manero leads a team at the University of Central Florida that works closely with kids and their parents to provide arms for children at no cost.

They work with kids who were born with physical differences, as well as those who have had amputations and survived accidents. He explains:

“We thought kids just wanted to blend in, and that they wanted to feel ‘normal.’ But it turns out it’s much more about personal identity and expression.”

The team is called Limbitless Solutions.

And they’re not only working with Alex — in fact, they’ve gotten requests for arms from 22 different countries. Each arm is crafted by the team of engineers, artists, and designers to be carefully tailored to the recipient’s unique requests. As team member Dominique Courbin explains, “It’s a facet of their personality.”

Check out the rest of Alex’s story below:
