What To Watch: Our Picks For The Ten TV Shows We Think You Should Stream This Weekend

Each week our staff of film and TV experts surveys the entertainment landscape to select the ten best new/newish shows available for you to stream at home. We put a lot of thought into our selections, and our debates on what to include and what not to include can sometimes get a little heated and feelings may get hurt, but so be it, this is an important service for you, our readers. With that said, here are our selections for this week.

Get more streaming recommendations with our weekly What To Watch newsletter.

1. Ted Lasso (Apple TV+)

APPLE TV+

There are moments in the early stages of season two that feel like they’re doubling down on the show’s signature positivity and niceness, but there’s no such thing as sweetness overload here as the show grows our affection for characters that are clearly taking a step forward in their arcs. Especially Ted, even though it seems like there may be some challenges ahead. Watch it on Apple TV+.

2. American Horror Story: Double Feature (FX/Hulu)

FX

Ryan Murphy’s now-classic, still pulpy, always fun scare parade is back for a 10th season, with two separate stories told by a crew of familiar faces. Yes, Sarah Paulson is in there, as are Finn Wittrock and Lily Rabe, as per usual, but you knew that. The bigger story is that Macauley Culkin drops by this season as a character named Mickey. It was always coming to this, really, looping Culkin into the AHS universe. The biggest surprise is that it took this long. Watch it on Hulu.

3. The Other Two (HBO Max)

HBO

The Other Two returns after a long, long wait following a one-year shutdown on production for… you know why. The result of that time away? Brooke and Cary are still assholes (but assholes who are advancing in their lives and dealing with the chaos of that), Chase is giving the Stranger Things kids a run for their money in the “let’s pretend these growth spurts didn’t happen” department, Streeter has gone blonde, and Molly Shannon has been UNLEASHED as Pat Dubek becomes a star in her own right. The results are somehow equally scathing and heartfelt, allowing the show to climb another wrung in the “you really need to watch this” hierarchy. Watch it on HBO Max.

4. Pen15 (Hulu)

HULU

The first half of Pen15’s second season ended on a downer note: Maya (Maya Erskine) is dealing with a breakup and Anna (Anna Konkle) has to decide which of her parents she wants to live with. You know what will cheer them up? A road trip to Florida! The one-off special acts as a mid-season bridge, and although it’s animated, the painful reminders of adolescence are still very real. Watch it on Hulu.

5. See (Apple TV+)

Apple TV

his show was so wild and wooly that it worked last year with Jason Momoa back in fur coats and in warrior mode. He’s now antagonized by Dave Bautista, which should add enough drama to keep the (somewhat silly) story alive, in a world where no one can see, but everyone is beautiful to look at from an audience standpoint. One of those sighted miracle-twins needs rescuing, so that propels much of the action early this season, but mostly, it’s all about clashing egos and warring beards. A good time, in other words. Watch it on Apple TV+.

6. Reservation Dogs (Hulu)

FX

Taika Waititi’s FX on Hulu follow-up to What We Do in the Shadows brings us a comedy series that’s co-written by Native American filmmaker Sterlin Harjo. Yes, the lead quartet in this show rocks suits that look strikingly similar to the characters of Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, yet they’re four Indigenous teens who want to commit crime and simply can’t pull it off. The show was shot in and near Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and these teens hope to make it all the way to California. The cast and crew come from indigenous communities, from where Harjo and Waititi are aiming their storytelling styles as well. Watch it on Hulu.

7. Nine Perfect Strangers (Hulu)

HULU

The past year has been a good one for Nicole Kidman and her wigs. In Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers, she trades in the fiery boho chic armor of her New York socialite in The Undoing for the flowing, hauntingly ethereal robes of a wellness guru who’s constantly feasting on an accent goulash. In short, this series is a showcase for Kidman and the rest of the A-list cast that populates a retreat aptly named Tranquillum House – everyone from Melissa McCarthy to Bobby Cannavale, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall, and more are guests in search of enlightenment, or, at least, enlightening. Come for the mindless drama of “rich white people problems,” stay for Manny Jacinto’s luscious locks. Watch it on Hulu.

8. The Chair (Netflix)

Netflix

Created by Amanda Peet and produced by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, The Chair tells the story of a new professor dealing with a failing English department at a fancy private university. It’s always nice to see Sandra Oh get a meaty lead role like this, and if her work on shows like Killing Eve is any indication, she’ll carry it well. Watch it on Netflix.

9. What If…? (Disney+)

Marvel

We’re in the multiverse after Loki‘s season finale. The MCU promises to show us a wealth of scenarios that stand separate from the existing movie lore. Agent Carter will take the serum and become Captain Carter. There’s a Zombie Captain America, and King T’Challa materializes elsewhere as Star Lord. Notably, Chadwick Boseman did voice work here, so you’ll be able to say a proper goodbye to his Black Panther. Let the good times and the tears roll. Watch it on Disney+.

10. (tie) Archer (FX/Hulu)

FXX

Archer is back and all we can think about is savoring every single broad sword powerful walk-off line from the great and powerful Jessica Walter’s Mallory, following the actresses’ death this spring. Sure, come for what looks like a continuing return to form for Archer and the rest of the crew, but rewind, rewatch, and meme the hell out of Mallory telling Cyril to kill butterflies in their caterpillar stage and every other honey-soaked razor blade she’s sure to serve up this season. Watch it on Hulu.

10. (tie) Clickbait (Netflix)

Netflix

You Won’t Believe This New Whodunit Mystery on Netflix About Adrian Grenier From Entourage Getting Kidnapped. (What? It’s called Clickbait. You have to embrace the self-aware title. Now, here are 7 Reasons Why You Should Watch Netflix’s Clickbait…) Watch it on Netflix.

How Larry Nance Jr. Found His Voice By Helping Others

For Cavs forward Larry Nance Jr., the idea to raise money and awareness for local businesses last season came from a simple conversation in the team’s locker room.

“I started talking with one our trainers in the locker room about the NFL doing ‘My Cause, My Cleats’ and how it would be cool if the NBA did something like that and just going down that rabbit hole,” Nance told Dime. “Just brainstorming, really, to the point of where we realized it might really be possible.”

During the COVID-shortened 72-game season, Nance wore gear from various local businesses — ranging from restaurants to bike shops and everything in-between — and then auctioned off game worn jerseys, shoes, and other memorabilia after the game to raise money for said businesses. When Nance missed games due to injury and a non-COVID illness, teammates such as Darius Garland, Isaac Okoro, and Collin Sexton stepped up to auction off their gear.

“This is coming from someone that doesn’t just want to support you — I also know what’s going on,” Nance said about the project. “They can say ‘I’ve got a store in Broadview Heights’ or wherever, I actually go there and know where that’s at and I can help from a genuine perspective instead of just throwing some money around.”

“This is home for me,” Nance continued. “This community is somewhere that I grew up in. It’s somewhere that I want my daughter to grow up in and, if we have more children, I want them to grow up here. This community has been great to me. It’s all about supporting the people that have supported you, and that’s all of Cleveland, all of Northeast Ohio.”

Nance is also quick to thank his family and members of the Cavs organization credit for helping him manage the entire process. The project, he said, took “hours upon hours” of sorting shirts, unwrapping packages from possible businesses, coordinating calls, and more, to have it run for the entire season.

“I didn’t expect it to be this wildly popular, so when we got over 500 packages of businesses to support, going through those and deciding which ones to represent took a lot of time and effort,” Nance said. “Not just me, but people within the Cavs organization, my wife and my whole family sitting on the floor going through packages and looking up businesses.”

Specifically, Nance said Lauren Marvinney, the Cavs senior director of basketball administration, “saved us.”

“It got to be more than we bargained for, more than we knew is even possible,” Nance noted, mentioning that Marvinney arranged Zoom calls with businesses and organized the auction website. “Without [Lauren], this would not have happened — not even close.”

Beyond raising money for local businesses in need, the 28-year-old Nance also began speaking out more — primarily on Twitter — on issues ranging from gerrymandering in Ohio to LQBTQ rights and voting rights. Nance grew more comfortable engaging in these topics after seeing fellow players like LeBron James and Chris Paul speak up and use their platform.

“In my view, Ohio is behind on so many key issues,” Nance said. “Voting rights is just one. The Equality Act is a major one coming up here soon that I am actually planning on going to Columbus to speak in support of. The gerrymandering going on in Ohio with our voting is ludicrous.”

As he’s become more educated on those issues, Nance wants to use his platform as not just a prominent athlete, but as an Ohioan to advocate for those who don’t have that chance.

“People don’t know that someone could be fired just because they are gay or kicked out of a hotel room or refused housing or evicted or not given a job. At this point in our society, that seems so foreign and Ohio is still doing that,” Nance continued. “So I feel I have the platform to have a few people’s ears, maybe I can get some steam behind making Ohio a better place for everyone. I’m going to keep being vocal on it. It’s not definitely not going to stop.”

Nance isn’t done raising money either. He doesn’t know what the work will look like for 2021-22, but some kind of season-long project to help give back to the community will begin again in the fall.

“There’s so much work to be done,” Nance said. “Last year was just the start of me getting more comfortable in that arena.”

What To Watch: Our Picks For The Ten Movies We Think You Should Stream This Weekend

Each week our staff of film and TV experts surveys the entertainment landscape to select the ten best new/newish movies available for you to stream at home. We put a lot of thought into our selections, and our debates on what to include and what not to include can sometimes get a little heated and feelings may get hurt, but so be it, this is an important service for you, our readers. With that said, here are our selections for this week.

1. The Suicide Squad (HBO Max)

WARNER BROS

It is time, once again, for a take on the Suicide Squad, the crew of DC villains who band together to cause chaos and/or save the day. This one is directed by Guardians of the Galaxy mastermind James Gunn and features everyone from Margot Robbie (as Harley Quinn, of course) to Idris Elba and Joel Kinnaman to Sylvester Stallone (as a giant talking CGI shark). It all looks weird and fun and kind of exactly what you need in a summer weekend movie. And then when you’re done you can click over and binge the Harley Quinn animated series on the same streaming service. Big weekend for you. Watch it on HBO Max.

2. The Green Knight (VOD)

A24

Some of us have been waiting an entire year to see a glowed-up Dev Patel play a troubled, handsomely rugged knight in this trippy take on an Arthurian legend, but now that The Green Knight is finally streaming everywhere … well, we all win. Patel plays Gawain, the film’s should-be hero who must fulfill an oath and face off against a myth-like creature who demands his head. Talking foxes, blood magic, and literal giants all pop up, inhabiting a mystical, terrifying, otherworldly landscape from the twisted, creative genius of director David Lowery. Find it on your VOD outlet of choice.

3. Vacation Friends (Hulu)

HULU

What we have here is a vacation romp featuring mismatched couples, one a party animal pair played by John Cena and Meredith Hagner, the other a more straightlaced duo played by Lil Rel Howery and Yvonne Orji. They’re all in Mexico. One assumes hijinks will ensue. Watch it on Hulu.

4. Annette (Amazon)

UGC

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: A stand-up comedian (Adam Driver) and a world-famous opera singer (Marion Cotillard) have a child that turns out to be a wooden marionette doll, and the doll begins taunting them with its own singing voice after their marital problems lead to chaos. It sounds… weird. It sounds weird. There’s no way around that. But it does have an interesting cast and is getting solid reviews so maybe give it a run if you’re in the mood to have your mind bent a little. Watch it on Amazon.

5. Jungle Cruise (Disney+)

Via Disney

Though the plot gets a bit convoluted in the second half of the movie, the dazzling, movie star-esque performances here by The Rock, Emily Blunt, and Jesse Plemons make this an entertaining movie well worth watching. Set in 1916, this movie about a race to be the first to get to a tree with magical healing powers has a distinct Indiana Jones/Raiders of the Lost Ark vibe to it. In fact, a couple of the scenes play like homages to those earlier films. And Jesse Plemons appears to be having the time of his life portraying the villain in this film, and who on God’s green Earth doesn’t love Jesse Plemons?! Watch it on Disney+.

6 Beckett (Netflix)

Netflix

In Beckett, John David Washington plays the title character, just a guy who is on vacation in Greece with his girlfriend (Alicia Vikander). After an automobile accident, during which Beckett sees someone he’s not supposed to see, he’s thrust into a game of espionage, intrigue, and geopolitical maneuvering that he never asked for. Director Ferdinando Cito Filomarino was heavily influenced by William Friedkin’s movies of the 1970s and he tries to recapture that here in a movie where, like the title character, we don’t really know what’s going on and there’s always a culpable sense of dread. Watch it on Netflix.

7. Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal, and Greed (Netflix)

Netflix

Bob Ross is beloved worldwide for his landscapes and peaceful vibes, but this new Netflix documentary reveals that things weren’t all sunsets and smiles when it came to his fortune and estate. Money will do that, even when the money comes from someone as sweet as Bob Freakin’ Ross, apparently. Watch it on Netflix.

8. Reminiscence (HBO Max)

HBO MAX

The last time Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson starred in a movie together, it was The Greatest Showman and it made $435 million at the box office. Reminiscence is being released on HBO Max the same day it comes out in theaters, so it won’t equal The Greatest Showman’s total gross. But the twisty thriller about nostalgia and lost love from Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy might make you say this is… what I’m watching tonight. Watch it on HBO Max.

9. CODA (Apple TV+)

APPLE

The story of a young woman who is the only hearing person in her family, living with her deaf parents and deaf brother, became the it movie of this year’s Sundance. It’s fair to wonder if this actually does hurt a film, expectations-wise. But it didn’t hurt last year’s then-record holder Palm Springs. And the producers of CODA surely didn’t care while they count their money. What’s surprising about all of this is CODA isn’t a deeply profound film. It’s just a really funny, feel-good movie about nice people doing nice things. And maybe that’s kind of rare these days. Give it a shot to put you in a good mood. Watch it on Apple TV+.

10. (tie) Black Widow (Disney+ Premium)

Disney+

Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff finally gets a proper send-off in this actioner that aims to go back-to-basics but succeeds more on a personal level. The film fills in plenty of blanks following the events of Captain America: Civil War, but more importantly, we receive butt-kicking ladies in well-choreographed fight scenes and an emotionally resonant story that introduces us to the inner Natasha, as witnessed by Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. She’s perhaps the only person in the world who’s allowed to tease Natasha, and their dynamic (and the chemistry between Scarlett and Florence) rules. The film also allows David Harbour to perform grunt-filled face work with a wild accent while the ladies swirl around him in hand-to-hand combat. It’s a winner. Watch it on Disney+ Premium.

10. (tie) Pig (VOD)

NEON

It’s Nicolas Cage hunting down his enemies after the disappearance of his beloved truffle-sniffing pig. And it’s allegedly good. Like, really, honestly good, not Fun/Bad Good. You really can’t ask for much more out of a film. Or anything else, really. Track it down on your VOD service of choice.

Don Jr. Got Roasted For Suggesting That The Pentagon’s Vaccine Mandate For U.S. Troops Is Akin To Dictatorship

Much like his father (who Sen. Tammy Duckworth once sarcastically referred to as “Cadet Bone Spurs”), Donald Trump Jr. did not serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. This might perhaps account for him not realizing that there’s a massive list of existing mandated vaccines for troops before the issue of Covid-19 ever surfaced. Yet Kimberly Guilfoyle’s boyfriend is pretty darn worked up over the Pentagon’s new order (in the wake of the FDA’s full approval of Pfizer vaccine) that all troops take the Covid jab.

This means that (according to the Associated Press) approximately 800,000 service members (those who remain unvaccinated so far) must roll up their sleeves, and as Raw Story relays, Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby revealed that those troops who don’t have a religious or medical exemption for vaccination can talk to a doctor “and have that physician, communicate to them, the risks that they’re taking by continuing to not want to take the vaccine.”

Well, Don Jr. is a big fan of the right-wing Daily Caller website, which labeled that chat-with-a-doctor procedure as “re-education,” a term that was no doubt meant to communicate an authoritarian vibe (as with its use in communist China), and Don Jr. retweeted the applicable story link, while declaring, “Wow. Re-education? Already? This is all happening faster than anyone could have imagined.”

Naturally, people were quick to let Don Jr. know that he must know nothing about the military, particularly how the sign-up process is basically signing over one’s self as property of the U.S. government, so yeah, if the military wants to vaccinate you, they’re gonna vaccinate you.

John Oliver Is Taking His Bizarre ‘Last Week Tonight’ Art Collection On The Road For A Series Of Gallery Shows

John Oliver may be best known as a comedian and television host, but he’s also a connoisseur of fine art, as fans of Last Week Tonight no doubt already know, as well as a bit of a philanthropist. Over the past year, in an effort to help museums fighting to stay afloat during the COVID pandemic, he graciously offered to loan out the collection of creative works he has amassed as part of the show’s oddball collection, as The Wrap reports. “For some reason, many agreed,” Oliver announced in a YouTube video (which you can watch above). “So over the next few months, our collection will be visiting exactly five museums.”

What can art fans expect to see? Oliver’s glad you asked. Among the masterworks on loan are what the host describes as a “magnificent picture of Wendy Williams eating a lamb chop. You’ll also find this sad tie, painted by Judith Kudlow as part of a series exploring the absence of her husband Larry [Kudlow]” (a.k.a. Donald Trump’s former economic advisor and a frequent Fox News pundit who is regularly putting his foot in his mouth and getting caught making racist remarks).

But what Oliver has rightly dubbed the collection’s pièce de resistance—“and where our collection began”—is a painting titled “Stay Up Late,” by Pennsylvania artist Brian Swords. While a less cultured person might describe the image as two rats f*cking, Oliver sees it as “a study of rat friendship which really has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Just look at the brushstrokes there. It’s like if Monet had a Furry period.”

The art tour will kick off in September at the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, “As I’m just going to assume Judy would have wanted,” Oliver says. Who needs the hassle of flying to Paris to see the Mona Lisa when you could gaze upon Wendy Williams eating a hunk of meat in Minnesota?

You can view the full schedule for the Last Week Tonight art tour at lwtgallery.com or the much more fun to type johnoliverhasyourraterotica.com.

What Is ‘Riders Republic’? We Played It Early To Find Out

A genre that has been missing from the video game world for years now is extreme sports — skateboarding, snowboarding, essentially anything that you would find at the X Games. It wasn’t that long ago that we were getting a yearly Tony Hawk game, SSX Tricky, and a variety of BMX games. However, as video games became more expensive, many of these fell to the wayside in favor of more dependable genres like shooters and traditional sports games. Thankfully, we may finally be seeing a resurgence in the genre: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was fantastic, Skate is coming back, and the recent E3 gave a lot of love to snowboarding.

One game that is coming out soon will try to combine all of these genres into one big experience. Riders Republic, currently in development at Ubisoft, is going to be a game where players can bike, snowboard, ski, and fly to their heart’s content in a world that was designed for them. We recently got our hands on Riders Republic and played an early demo build of the game. After spending about four hours with the game, this is what we can say so far.

The World Is Great

Riders Republic/Ubisoft

When first launching into Riders Republic, the player will be given a quick hands-on experience with a few of the game’s different modes. This is not only to introduce the player to the controls, but it will also allow them to get a firsthand look at what kind of world they’re in. The world of Riders Republic is one where extreme sports are above all else — everything is a playground designed for bikers, snowboarders, etc. Races can happen anywhere, everything can be launched off of the air, and there are TV cameras everywhere to capture it. Basically, imagine if there was a reality TV show about extreme sports but anyone who wanted could go participate.

The world itself is wide open with many different terrains. There’s plenty to do and see, which is a big part of the fun. While waiting around for events to start, it was hard to pass up on the chance to just go bike off into a random pathway and see what was out there. Maybe you’ll even run into other players, or the ghosts of other players, all doing the exact same thing.

Multiplayer Has Potential

Riders Republic/Ubisoft

The multiplayer aspect of Riders Republic has a lot of potential. Players can go do missions or courses together as a group, compete against one another, race each other, or just explore the world. Despite being paired with five other randoms in a play session, it was easy to tell that playing with a group of friends is going to be the best way to enjoy Riders Republic. Of course, for anyone who wants to go about it solo, there is still plenty to do and the world will constantly feel lived in. Players are spread out all over the map, and when there isn’t enough for a server, the game will fill the world with “ghosts.” These ghosts aren’t just AI, they’re recreations of what actual players did in their own play-throughs. This way, when you’re exploring a snow slope, there will always be people around.

Anyone that wants to race or compete against real players will have plenty of options. Events are spread out all over the map. Go up to one, select it, and the player will be queued into the event. Competing in them is encouraged because it will increase your star rating, which means you’ll gain access to more gear and items, so there’s always an incentive to keep trying out new modes. These collectible items are also fun because it shows that the developers understand how silly this world is. When you have the ability to get a squirrel suit with a jetpack, there’s no reason that you shouldn’t also be allowed to have an ice cream bike.

The Tricks Are A Little Awkward

Riders Republic/Ubisoft

The build we played was not final, so everything we did can be improved upon or tweaked before launch. That said, some of the tricks felt a little awkward at times. There’s a very cool system where the player can turn on auto-land, which makes landing tricks easier, but players who can land perfectly without that will gain extra points. Sometimes, everything clicks and you’ll get off a sick frontflip onto a rail before completing the combo with a 180 perfect landing. Those moments feel great, but to create a system like this, movement has to be very precise and they may have corrected for that a little too much. A right turn can go 90 degrees almost instantly sometimes, which can be disorienting, and grinds feel like you’re floating above the railing instead of pushing on it.

A lot of what will separate Riders Republic from a fun game to play for a single weekend, only to never play it again, will be the movement. Extreme sports games are entirely reliant on feeling good when moving around. The snowboarding needs to feel just right, the bike has to be perfect, and the flying suit can’t feel slow. If the game isn’t absolutely perfect, then it will not capture people the way the Tony Hawk or SSX Tricky series ever did. However, if everything about this game feels good, then it has the potential to be something big.

Chris Cuomo Firmly Disagrees With The Lawyer Of The Man Suing Nirvana For Child Pornography

Things have been up and down for Nirvana lately. The band’s signature hit, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” recently eclipsed a billion Spotify streams, a rare feat for a ’90s song. Now, though, the band is being sued by Spencer Elden, who appeared naked on the famous Nevermind album cover when he was a baby. Elden is suing the band and others involved over claims of child pornography and child sexual exploitation. The topic has become headline news, and Maggie Mabie, a lawyer representing Elden, had a contentious conversation about it with Chris Cuomo on Cuomo Prime Time.

During the chat (as Yahoo! notes), Mabie attested, “The focal point of the image is the minor’s genitalia. And here in that image along with all of the other dose factors as we pled in our complaint, it is a very over-sexualized image, and does constitute child pornography. More importantly, it was child exploitation in the way that they created it, and the way that they continue to distribute the image today.”

Cuomo didn’t agree with that point of view, however, responding, “I don’t ever remember anybody ever writing or anything being out there in society about this image as a sexualized or pornographic image. I always thought that it was a suggestion of how right out of the womb, people are just grabbing for money and doing anything they can. I thought it was more about capitalism than it was sexuality.”

Mabie went on to compare Elden to victims of child pornography, saying, “Spencer wants this image redacted. He is saying that he doesn’t want his genitalia out there for the world to consume any longer, and if we have this image redacted, that will be a monumental signal for all victims of child pornography that their voices are being heard and their privacy is being respected.”

Again, Cuomo pushed back against Mabie, citing the fact that Elden has regularly honored and re-created the album art over the years: “You think that this man is really a good face for the pain of child pornography? Somebody who’s made money out of it, has a tattoo on his chest about it, has celebrated it at different times in his life and had all this time to reach out about it in the context that you’re offering now, and never did? You really think that this is something that would be comforting to real victims?”

Seth Meyers Corrected Kayleigh McEnany After She Falsely Claimed That You Didn’t See ‘Crisis After Crisis’ From Trump

Kayleigh McEnany once claimed that she “never lied” as Donald Trump’s press secretary. That, in and of itself, was a lie. She’s now on Fox News (an ideal fit) and continues to gaslight America.

“We are eight months into a Biden presidency,” she said earlier this week on Fox News. “Wrap your head around that. We still have three years and four months left. Look, when President Trump was president, you didn’t see crisis after crisis. You just didn’t see it.” I guess “deadly pandemic that was badly mishandled” doesn’t count as a crisis.

On Wednesday’s Late Night, host Seth Meyers gave a “Closer Look” at McEnany’s curious claim. “She’s right about one thing. You didn’t see crisis after crisis if you were watching Fox,” he said. “More than 400,000 Americans died from COVID under Trump. Also, he got it, and his rallies and White House parties were superspreaders. Trump personally helped spread more disease to more people than a community swimming pool filled with water from the East River.” He then listed some of Trump’s non-crises:

“To say Trump didn’t cycle through crises after crisis is to ignore that much of his inner circle got indicted, his Cabinet had like half a dozen corruption scandals, he praised Nazis, kidnapped migrant children, fired or tried to fire the people investigating him, got caught paying hush money to a porn star, incited a violent insurrection to overthrow an election, helped Saudi Arabia cover up a murder, single-handedly caused the longest government shutdown in American history, and told the Boy Scouts a story about yachts and New York parties.”

But other than that, all good. You can watch the Late Night clip above.

Letitia Wright Has Been Hospitalized Following A Stunt Accident On The Set Of ‘Black Panther 2’

If there’s one film series that doesn’t need any more heartbreaking news, it has to be Black Panther. However, it seems the cast just can’t catch a break. According to a Variety report, Letitia Wright — the Black Panther star famous for her performance as T’Challa’s brilliant and self-assured sister Shuri — has been hospitalized following a stunt rig accident on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Fortunately, a spokesperson from Marvel was quick to confirm the injuries Wright sustained were minor, and released the following update on the actress’ status:

Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.

According to the report, Wright’s injuries were incurred while the actress was shooting an overnight scene away from their primary set in Atlanta and up in Boston. The report also stated that the accident should not impact the movie’s shooting schedule or the film’s release, which is still slated for July 8, 2022.

News of the accident comes just shy of the one-year anniversary of Black Widow star Chadwick Boseman’s passing late last August, making the initial report all the more distressing. However, it seems Wright will be just fine and production should pick up again soon. As of right now, Marvel has not announced if Wright has been released from the hospital.

The Weeknd Delivers Updates On His Upcoming Album And HBO Series

The Weeknd is almost ready to share his sixth album with the world. The singer has been teasing the currently untitled project for the better part of four months and it was just recently that he confirmed a new body of work was on the way thanks to its presumed lead single, “Take My Breath.” In addition to the new album, The Weeknd also has a new HBO series on the way, which is tentatively titled The Idol. At the moment, he’s still working out the last few details of both projects and in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared an update on both the album and the upcoming TV series.

“Yeah, I’m finishing the new album right now,” he said about his upcoming musical body of work. “It should be done by the end of this month and we’re just kind of figuring out when to put it out. It’s been really cool because I’m working on this album this summer simultaneously with the writer’s room for the new TV show.” He added, “So, I’ve been kind of going back and forth from finishing the album and pending up the show that we’re going to start shooting soon. It’s been quite a summer.”

The updates on the projects come after The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” the highlight single from his 2020 album After Hours, became the longest-charting single of all time after it spent its 88th week on the Billboard 200 earlier this month.
