Nearly two years after he was arrested on marijuana and gun charges, Pnb Rock has been sentenced. According to CBS 3 Philly, the rapper will spend the next three years on probation after pleading guilty in court. The charge was one count of receiving stolen property and one count of possession with intent to deliver. For each charge, he received 36 months of probation, but it was decided that the probations will run concurrently. He will also complete 100 hours of community service and have his supervision transferred to California, after receiving permission to do so.
According to Complex, Pnb Rock was originally hit with the charges after Bensalem, PA Police opened an investigation in 2018 after they received multiple complaints about loud parties and the smell of marijuana from the rapper’s residence. This gave the officers probable cause to search his house, and on January 20, 2019, a search warrant was executed by The Special Investigations Unit. The search resulted in the confiscation of nearly five pounds of marijuana, multiple scales, packaging materials, a stolen .40-caliber handgun, and $33,000 in cash.
After the arrest, Pnb denied the allegations during an Instagram Live session. “I don’t know what the f*ck they was talking about,” he proclaimed. “It wasn’t me! What the f*ck? I look like I’m selling drugs? Never!”
Pnb Rock is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
Welcome to SNX DLX, our weekly roundup of the best sneakers to hit the market. We’re officially in the back-to-school season and the sneaker drops are finally starting to wind down, after weeks of being spoiled with fire drops. Our wallets definitely need the break, but if you were hoping for some monetary respite, we’re not quite there yet. We’ve still got a few more weeks of summer left, which means we have plenty of must-cop drops on the horizon.
Once the summer finally comes to a close we just have the special Halloween drops to deal with, then the limited Holiday drops, and the end for year specials, and… it never ends! Either way, whatever these next few weeks bring, we’ll be here to help you separate the trash from the good stuff. This week we’ve got fresh Jordans in some throwback retro colorways, a couple of New Balance collaborations, and probably the first and only time we’ll ever talk about Birkenstocks.
Let’s dive in!
Dr. Martens x Atmos Tarik Zip Boot
Dr. Martens
Dr. Martens has been killing it this year with a handful of amazing collaborations, enlisting everyone from BAPE to JJJJound, to Black Sabbath, and Hello Kitty for some radical reimagining of their iconic boots. Their latest brings in the talents of Harajuku streetwear label Atmos for a post-apocalyptic anime-inspired rendition of the Tarik Zip boot.
Featuring a smooth leather upper with velvet and TPU detailing, this pair of Dr. Martens is all flash, meant to evoke the pulsing neon lights of a futuristic cityscape, and we could definitely see them in something like the upcoming live-action rendition of Cowboy Bebop.
The Dr. Martens x Atmos Tarik Zip Boot is out now for a retail price of $150. Pick up a pair at Atmos or the Dr. Martens webstore.

Air Jordan 1 Starfish
Flight Club
Nike can mess around and call this low-top Jordan colorway the “Starfish” or whatever, but every sneakerhead thinks of just one colorway when they see this combination of faded orange and black — the legendary high-top Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard. Named such after borrowing the colors of Jordan’s uniform when he made a backboard shattering dunk in 1985 at the Nike Europe tour, the Starfish lifts that same distinct combination of orange, black, and white, but the design looks radically different when draped over the low-top silhouette.
It’s not quite the Shattered Backboard of legends, but it still looks dope nonetheless and oozes end of summer vibes.
The Air Jordan 1 Starfish is set to drop on August 26th for a retail price of $130. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or hit up Flight Club to pick up a pair on the aftermarket.

Air Huarache Aquatone
Nike
How do you express your love for the OG Saved By The Bell and all-things Bay Side? With this ‘90s indebted Air Huarache Aquatone of course. Seriously, it doesn’t get more ‘90s than combining bright white, aqua, and Joker purple. The Air Huarache is one of Tinker Hatfield’s less beloved designs, but in recent years it’s been making a bit of a comeback.
Featuring soft synthetic accents over a breathable neoprene upper, the Air Huarache features bootie construction, and a heel clip that looks so dated that it’s somehow futuristic in today’s sneaker climate. Weird how fashion works that way.
The Air Huarache Aquatone is set to drop on August 27th for a retail price of $120. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Birkenstock x Stüssy Boston Clogs
Birkenstock
Crocs took over Birkenstock’s monopoly on cringe-inducing footwear when everyone just decided one morning that Crocs were cool and not ridiculous. Now Birkenstock is fighting back with their own clog by teaming up with Stüssy for a new collaboration aimed squarely at the streetwear audience.
Utilizing Birkenstock’s Boston silhouette, this clog features a suede upper atop a cork footbed in your choice of Bone, Caramel, or Dusty Pink colorways with dual branding. They’re perfect for the clog enthusiast who wants a shoe that isn’t made of rubber or requires Jibbitz.
The Birkenstock x Stüssy Boston Clogs are set to drop on August 27th for an unannounced price. Pick up a pair at Birkenstock 1774 or the Stüssy webstore.

Concepts x New Balance 57/40
Concepts
It wouldn’t be a Concepts release without, well, a concept. The Boston-based streetwear brand has made a name for itself over the last 20 plus years by supplying each of its exclusive collaborations with a deeper meaning and mythology, and this week’s collaboration with New Balance goes pretty deep.
Inspired by the 1920 silent film Headin’ Home, which documented a fictional account of Babe Ruth’s life as a professional baseball player, this collaboration utilizes New Balances 57/40 silhouette and dresses its suede and leather upper in shades of orange and off-white, a color palette that was inspired by the film’s original posters.
Why is it on a pair of New Balances and what made Concepts think to reference Babe Ruth in a sneaker that has nothing to do with baseball? Both brands are based in Boston so it must be a Curse of the Bambino thing, but concept aside, it looks pretty damn clean, so we’ll take it!
The Concepts x New Balance 57/40 is set to drop on August 27th alongside a matching apparel collection for a retail price that hasn’t been revealed yet. Pick up a pair exclusively at the Concepts webstore.

Air Jordan 4 Tour Yellow
Air Jordan
Featuring a full-grain nubuck leather upper in Tour Yellow with bluish-grey accents atop a white PU midsole, this week’s Air Jordan 4 Tour Yellow is a retro rerelease of ‘06s Lightning colorway, which was originally released alongside a color-inverted counterpart dubbed the Thunder. Both pairs were inspired by Michael Jordan’s often forgotten Motorsports team, but Nike definitely picked the better of the two for this summer’s re-release.
The AJ4 Lightning features black netting with dark grey wings, a woven tongue, and a herringbone rubber outsole that matches the sneaker’s moody accents.
The Air Jordan 4 Tour Yellow is set to drop on August 28th for a retail price of $220. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or on the aftermarket at GOAT or Flight Club.

Casablanca x New Balance XC-72
New Balance
With the racing-inspired XC-72, Paris-based streetwear label Casablanca is taking a victory lap on its now long-running New Balance link-up, which has consistently produced some of the best New Balance sneakers of all time. Yes, all time! Casablanca hasn’t had a single New Balance-branded dud, each of them is an improvement on the last.
Generally, the brand concerns itself with reimagining New Balance’s more vintage silhouettes, but this time they’re taking on the sleek XC-72, giving it the same orange, green and white colorway that first kicked off the New Balance x Casablanca collaboration, as well as a new red and yellow make-up. Both XC-72 colorways feature a white leather upper with grey suede overlays, an oversized N logo (which New Balance should make standard practice), and dual-branding on the tongue.
The Casablanca x New Balance XC-72 are set to drop on August 27th exclusively at Casablanca Paris and August 28th globally for a retail price of $150. Pick up a pair at New Balance or Casablanca.

With Marvel being the arguably the biggest brand in the world right now, it makes sense that they’re taking over everything they can in the world of entertainment, from movies to TV shows, and even video games. While not developing the games themselves, Marvel has been active in pursuing video game contracts for their many IP’s. Their success has varied with the recent Spider-Man games being a huge hit, while The Avengers game has been unable to capture that same level of excitement. They have a Guardians of the Galaxy game on the way, and that looks promising, but we won’t know for sure until it’s out.
Despite the spotty history, there’s still plenty of reason to be excited about the next Marvel game that has been announced, Marvel Midnight Suns. The game will be a tactical RPG, most likely similar to XCOM, and the trailer features some of the biggest names in comic books like Iron Man, Wolverine, and Captain America. In a lot of ways, it looks like the game that many people wanted Marvel’s Avengers to be, but we’ll have to wait until we see some gameplay to know for certain.
This is a game that has been rumored to be in development for quite some time, so it’s cool to finally see it actually become a reality. The developers behind it, Firaxis Games, have a strong history with Tactical RPGs. They’ve not only developed the XCOM series but also the incredibly addicting Civilization series. This pedigree shows they know how to make characters feel powerful and turn-based combat fun. No need to be concerned about superheroes not feeling, well, super.
One tidbit that will be interesting to see is that games like XCOM, and other character-based tactical RPGs such as Fire Emblem, have permadeath as a feature. When a character dies in combat they’re gone for good. Will this game have this as well? If so, how do they plan to get around that from a story perspective? The people who die in XCOM are replaceable from a story perspective, but in Fire Emblem when someone dies they’re gone from the story, which means that the player can miss out on content. Of course, it’s possible they’ll have a way to turn off the permadeath feature so no story is missed out on. We’ll just have to wait until more info comes out about the game, but for now, we can be excited about the possibilities.
The occasional easily lampooned shoutiness aside, Michael Caine has long been one of the most relaxed actors in the movies. But when he was younger, he was a bit…intense. In a new interview with The Mirror (as caught by The AV Club), the two-time Oscar-winner revealed that as an aspiring thespian, he read that one of the secrets of screen acting was not blinking. And then he took things rather a bit far.
Caine said his younger self got his hands on a book called Teach Yourself Film Acting. Any actor will tell you acting in a movie is very different from acting on a stage; rather than go big for an audience that’s far away, you have to go small for a camera that may be right in your face. One idea he took from the tome was that, in his words, “Don’t blink. You must never blink.” But he took that a bit too literally, saying he spent the “next eight years” of his life “[walking] around trying not to blink.”
Eventually going about never closing his eyes earned him the nickname “Snake Eyes.”
“People around me, my mother and everybody, thought I had gone nuts,” Caine said. “They thought I was a psychopath. I used to frighten the life out of people.”
But he kept the approach up, at least when he’s doing movies. In 1987, he even recorded an hour-long how-to called Michael Caine: Acting in Film, in which he imparted his two-time Oscar-winning knowledge onto anyone with a VHS (or Beta) player. One person who watched it was Howard Stern, while he was prepping his acting debut in 1997’s Private Parts. Stern talked about it once on his show, and when asked about his prep, he said this:
The only thing I did was, I got ahold of Michael Caine’s acting tape. Have you ever seen that? It’s the funniest f*cking thing you ever saw. Michael Caine stands there, he’s teaching a class, and he says something like, ‘One of the things I like to do is, if it’s a closeup shot, I don’t blink, because if I blink it weakens me. So what you want to do is stare like this, stare at the other person’s eye. Now watch what I do, now, watch this… did you see what I just did?’ And I swear, there is absolutely nothing going on, the guy is doing exactly nothing. So that’s the extent of my acting training.”
To this day, Caine says he “never blinks shooting a scene.” So next time you’re watching him, pay extra attention to his eyes. Just don’t blink or you may miss him…not blinking.
It’s safe to say that summer isn’t going exactly how we envisioned. Thanks to the Delta variant and a lagging vaccination rate, hot vax summer very quickly turned into Summer 2020: The Sequel. But while we’re feeling a lot less optimistic this season than we did in the spring, things aren’t quite as grim as they were last year, especially if you’re fully vaxxed and ready to party. Concerts, festivals, and mass gathering parties are still a thing (for now) so some people are still soaking up the fun wherever it can be had. And for the past two weekends, you’d be hard-pressed to find a venue more fun or unhinged than Palm Springs, California’s Splash House.
This year, Splash House attendees were treated to non-stop partying soundtracked by DJs like Gorgon City, Camel Phat, San Holo, and Cassian across three separate pool-equipped resort venues. Festival-goers decorated their balconies and danced through an atmosphere of waves and bubbles in their best Y2K-inspired beachwear, landing on a fashion aesthetic that looked as relaxed as it did futuristic.
The fun wasn’t limited to the outdoors. Those looking to catch a more relaxed vibe had access to the Green Dragon consumption lounge, which featured interactive kiosks, branded merchandise, a private DJ, and high-end farm-t0-table weed. We have a handful of photos from the last two weekends so that you can soak up the end-of-summer vibes and catch some fashion inspiration for your next poolside party. Let’s dive in.
There was an emotional exchange on TikTok between two people who lost their fathers to cancer. One was actor Mandy Patinkin, the other was TikTok user Amanda Webb.
Patinkin currently stars on “The Good Fight” but one of his most famous roles is Inigo Montoya in the 1987 classic “The Princess Bride.” In the film, Montoya is a swordsman who is obsessed with confronting a six-fingered man who killed his father.
Webb recently lost her father Dan to mantle cell lymphoma. She had heard a rumor that Patinkin used his father’s death from cancer as motivation in a pivotal scene where he confronts the six-fingered Count Rugen (Christopher Guest) in a duel.
Rugen tells Montoya he will give him anything he wants after being bested by Montoya who passionately replies, “I want my father back, you son of a bitch.”
Webb’s father was a big fan of Montoya’s performance in the film so she reached out to TikTok to learn if the rumor was true.
“I saw on the internet the rumor that when Mandy Patinkin said that line, he was thinking of his own father who had passed away from cancer,” Webb said while crying. “And it was a very raw emotion. Ever since then, it’s kind of really stuck with me.”
@alaska_webb thank you for finding us and sharing this! ✨ Sending big love and light to you and yours. More in comments. #grieving #cancer #dads
“First of all, your dad is taking care of you,” he said. “Secondly, it is true, 100% true. I went outside in this castle and walked around and I kept talking to my dad.”
“The minute I read the script, I knew, I said to [his wife], I said, ‘I’m going to do this part because in my mind, if I get the six-fingered guy, that means I killed the cancer that killed my dad and I’ll get to visit my dad,” he said.
“That moment was coming, and I went and I played that scene with Chris [Guest], and then I went back out there and talked to my dad,” Patinkin said.
He then told Webb that she has the power to talk to her father, too.
“And so, you can talk to your dad anytime you want, anywhere you want,” he said. “If you could somehow let me know your dad’s name because I say prayers for anyone I’ve ever known. Now I feel like I know you, and therefore I know your dad, and I will list his name in my prayers every day, and they make me feel like they’re with me, wherever I go, and I’d like your dad to hang out with me.”
Everyone seems to have a theory on the best time to purchase airfare to save the most money. Some say it’s right before take-off. Others will swear that prices are lowest six months before the flight. Well, now we have the truth. A scientific study was conducted by Expedia and the Airlines Reporting Commission that found the best times to buy flight tickets to get the best deal possible.
DOMESTIC: 57 DAYS IN ADVANCE The ideal advance-purchase time for domestic flight to snag the lowest average airfare is 57 with prices climbing most rapidly in the 20 days leading up to the flight. On a flight that averages $496, it will cost $401 57 days before the flight and around $650 the day of departure.
INTERNATIONAL: 171 DAYS IN ADVANCE For a ticket that averages $1,368, the lowest average of $1,004 happens around 171 days before take-off. On the day of, the price will be around $1875. Ticket prices begin to dramatically escalate 75 days leading up to departure.
In addition to teaching the usual subjects, Trupiano is charged with helping her students thrive in a society that doesn’t do enough to cater to the needs of the hard-of-hearing.
Recently, Trupiano had to teach her students about a rather personal topic: passing gas in public.
A six-year-old child farted so loud in class that some of their classmates began to laugh. The child was surprised by their reaction because they didn’t know farts make a sound. This created a wonderful and funny teaching moment for Trupiano.
Trupiano shared the conversation on Facebook.
While the discussion Tupiano had with her students was funny, it points to a serious problem faced by the deaf community. “I know it started with farts, but the real issue is that many of my students aren’t able to learn about these things at home or from their peers because they don’t have the same linguistic access,” she told GOOD.
“So many of my students don’t have families who can sign well enough to explain so many things it’s incredibly isolating for these kids,” she continued.
Tupiano hopes her funny story about bodily functions will inspire others to become more involved with the deaf community by learning sign language.
“I would love to see a world where my students can learn about anything from anyone they interact with during their day,” she told GOOD. “Whether that means learning about the solar system, the candy options at a store, or even farts, it would be so great for them to have that language access anywhere they go.”
There are no two human beings who are exactly alike. One of the funny quirks of evolution is that some of us can do things with our bodies we think are routine, but are impossible for others.
Some people can wiggle their ears, others can’t. Some can wiggle their nose like Samantha from “Bewitched” while others just look really silly when making an attempt.
Not everyone can lick their elbow but most wouldn’t attempt to do so in public.
A Twitter user named Massimo dropped some knowledge last month about a skill that not everyone has and even fewer discuss: ear rumbling.
Those of us who can do it know exactly what it is, while it’s a mystery to those who cannot.
A part of the human population can voluntarily control the tensor tympani, a muscle within the ear. Contracting thi… https://t.co/uxeTat3aPA
People who can ear rumble have the ability to control the tensor tympani, a muscle within the ear. Contracting the muscle creates a rushing, rumbling sound that, if flexed enough, can drown out a significant amount of noise.
This can be useful when someone is saying something that you don’t want to hear but don’t want to be rude and cover your ears. It can come in real handy if someone is about to spoil your favorite TV show or if you live with someone who can’t stop nagging.
Some people cannot voluntarily create the rumbling sound but hear it when they let out a large yawn.
There’s a Reddit sub-forum just for ear rumblers with over 60,000 people. Here’s how some of them get rumblin’.
“I just squeeze the muscle in my ears I guess,” — melvinthefish
“When I flex and hold whatever I’m manipulating to do that, I get my rumble,” — ttywzl
“I get a mild rumble just doing the usual flex, but i can make it a bit louder by bringing my top lip up to my nose,” — Willmono7
“The best way I can describe it is I ‘squint my ears,'” —SteeleIT
The muscle exists to mask-low frequency sounds so we can focus on those at a higher frequency. It also works to mute sounds we create ourselves such as eating potato chips or coughing. It’s a way that helps us from becoming annoyed with our own bodies.
Unfortunately, the muscle has a rather slow reaction time so it cannot prevent us from hearing loud sudden noises like a gunshot or a book slamming on the ground.
Massimo’s tweet caused quite a stir on the platform.
Been able to do that forever and wiggle my ears independently. Regrettably It doesn’t attract women and I can’t make money from it. Sad face. — Simon the Smith 3.5% (@Simstersnose) February 17, 2020
To me it sounds like when there’s a big thunderstorm and the thunder is just lowly rolling around in the sky forever with only tiny flashes of lightning that don’t leave the clouds — 🍀shmily🧚🏽☻ (@turtlelaughing) February 18, 2020
Quick! We need a Venn Diagram to show people who can do this, people who have internal monologues, people who have synaesthesia, and people with any other weird “I thought everyone did this” stuff. — Marian Matta Writes (among other things) (@MadWomansKnitti) February 18, 2020
Although scientists have known about ear rumbling since at least the 1800s, there doesn’t appear to have been too much research on the topic. We know that some can rumble and others cannot, but it’s unclear how it breaks down percentage-wise or if it’s more prevalent in certain groups.
The good news is that the word is starting to get out and people who’ve been rumbling all their lives suddenly don’t feel so alone.
No one likes doing the dishes, but the tedious chore is made much easier when using a dishwasher. However, an alarming amount of people have reported that their dishwashers can actually make the job harder because they don’t properly fit their dishes.
And that’s where Twitter user Mike McLoughlin (@zuroph) comes in.
Back in January, McLoughlin made an observation about his dishwasher that would change the way he does dishes forever. For a decade, the Irishman thought that the bottom rack of his washer simply was too small for his large dinner plates. Then he made an amazing discovery:
I moved into this house in 2008. It always annoyed me that the lower level of the dishwasher wasn’t tall enough to… https://t.co/VC9wCf34Yu
The tweet went totally viral, and was shared over 14,000 times. He even tweeted a picture to show just how much he could fit in the dishwasher now that he knows the racks are adjustable:
For those who asked, the workhorse of a dishwasher that’s lasted somewhere between 10-15 years is an Izzi by Zanussi @electrolux. The wheels sometimes pop off but hopefully we’ll get another year out of it pic.twitter.com/h8KI7O6vbU — Mike McLoughlin (@zuroph) February 15, 2018
The “hack” (is it still called a hack if the appliance is doing what it is supposed to be doing?) blew people’s minds:
18 YEARS! I’ve had mine 18 years and only just realised! I used to lie the plates down so they would wash! I’m raging and ecstatic all at the same time. Do you have any other helpful hints about how to live life efficiently?! — Toby 🏳️🌈 (@balhamyte) January 28, 2018

Omg. This is breaking news to me. I avoid my dinner plates all the time. You’re my kind of genius. — Edel Walsh (@ullamuddle) January 27, 2018
Woke up this morning. Saw your tweet. Leapt out of bed and feverishly emptied top rack of dishwasher. Voila! Rack moved up a notch and my dinner plates now fit perfectly! Thank you..it’s been five years of frustration..life changing:) — 🕯 Tina Kulski 💧🌾 (@KulskiTina) January 28, 2018
While a group of others tried to one-up McLoughlin with stories of their own:
Makes 2 years of luke warm showers in my current house before I realised the tap came OUT and left for ultimate hotness. Was such a bittersweet moment. Never thought to ask once. — Swimmers Jackson (@SwimmersJackson) January 27, 2018
Haha, brilliant. My car key central locking is dodgy so I’ve been getting in on passenger side for ages, hauling myself across the handbrake. Thats neat but hold my beer😎….my friend just found out in 2017 that her kitchen HAD a dishwasher. She thought it was a false cabinet as it was so hard to open. Her niece forced it open and voila instant dishwasher! She owns the property and lived there for 8yrs by then..😂 — Ay Fabulous (@ayusfagbo) January 28, 2018

Okay, go on and check your own dishwasher. You know you want to.
