Dead By Daylight’s ‘Stranger Things’ DLC Is Getting Delisted From The Game

Licensed characters appearing in games is kind of a huge deal right now. It seems like every other week there’s a new familiar face arriving in Fortnite and more and more we’re seeing other games follow suit and using pre-existing properties to pull in players. One such game is the popular multiplayer horror title Dead By Daylight, which has added nearly a dozen major horror movie monsters since revealing its Halloween/Michael Meyers collaboration back in 2016. However, the big problem with these games using licensed characters? Well, they’re not technically theirs.

Such is the problem Dead By Daylight is facing right now following what is presumably the expiration of their deal with Netflix’s Stranger Things. According to a post shared on the official Dead By Daylight blog earlier today, all Stranger Things-related content is being removed from the game’s store on November 17, 2021. This announcement comes merely two years after the Stranger Things Chapter was added to the game back in September 2019, and perhaps more importantly, raises some concerns as to what other licenses are set to expire and what that means for these big, license-heavy games. While we might not have any answers to those looming problems yet, we do have a few more details on just what’s going on with the Stranger Things DLC for those who have already purchased it or were planning to.

According to Dead By Daylight developers Behavior Interactive, all players who purchase the Stranger Things Chapter or any of its individual contents prior to November 17 will still have access to all three playable characters (the Demogorgon, Steve Harrington, and Nancy Wheeler) following the chapter’s removal. The only part of the Stranger Things collection being officially removed from the game is the Hawkins National Laboratory map, which is scheduled to be retired the same day the DLC is taken down from the store.

Despite the characters remaining, however, it does seem very likely that their names will be changed following November 17. In a tweet made by the Dead By Daylight official Twitter, the developers stated some of the Stranger Things-related perks will soon be getting new, generic names in order for players to still use them. Based on this news, it seems likely that could extend to our heroes as well.

As of right now, all of Dead By Daylight’s Stranger Things DLC is on sale for between 50-60% off with the character sale scheduled to last until November 17 and the costume sale running until September 8. While there’s no telling what all this news means for Dead By Daylight‘s other licensed properties in the future, if you’re still interested in this one it sure looks like now is your final chance to grab it.

Increasingly Unhinged Mike Lindell Attacked Sean Hannity And Laura Ingraham For Not Putting Him On Their Shows

While no one still seems to have figured out how Mike Lindell got it into his head that the future of our country’s democracy rests in the hands of a pillow salesman, the MyPillow CEO is charging ahead and using any outlet he can find to shout it from the rooftops that the 2020 presidential election was rigged—even if it’s a fruitless cyber symposium he has to create all on his own (and almost got ousted from). Fortunately, few people want to actually hear from him about it, which was the topic of his latest rant.

It must have been a slow news day over at OAN on Monday, as Raw Story reports that the ultra-conservative network—which has never been super concerned about the integrity of their guests, or whether the theories they’re spewing are true—basically became The Mike Lindell Show. Lindell, who is fresh off his disastrous cyber symposium, used the opportunity to continue pushing the narrative that the 2020 election was hacked and he has the proof, despite the fact that one of Lindell’s own cybersecurity experts has admitted that what they’ve got is jack sh*t. But Lindell had other matters on his mind: specifically, why his cyber symposium didn’t get the press attention it should have—particularly from known-to-be-loon-friendly networks like Fox News.

After telling Fox News that “Fox, you need to step it up and help save our country!” (note to Lindell: Fox isn’t a person, it cannot hear you), Lindell’s senseless chatter turned to individual Fox News hosts (who are actual people… at least that’s what we’ve been told) for not inviting him to be a guest on their shows. First up on his list of perceived enemies was Sean Hannity:

Sean Hannity told me once, he said, ‘Mike, I can say whatever I want on Fox, as long as it’s the truth.’ Well the truth is Sean, we had a cyber symposium. And the truth is it was attacked and hacked… And the truth is you’re not saying anything on your show. Neither are you, Laura [Ingraham.]

It should be noted that Lindell had promised to share the boatloads of evidence he claims to have that the election was hacked during this symposium, but supplied what basically amounted to a stale gummy bear, some loose change, and a piece of lint pulled from his pant pocket. The best part of his tirade was yet to come, however, as he attempted to make Tucker Carlson the semi-hero of this story… but referred to him as what sounded like Trucker.

“Trucker [Carlson] tried a few times to talk about the 2020 election. I give him some credit. I thought might be a breakthrough, it was a couple weeks ago, but none of them are talking. What is Fox doing to you? Are you guys so worried… about your money and your job?”

Hats off to Hannity for at least attempting to politely tell Lindell that he’s f*cking bonkers. But when even Tucker (sorry, Trucker) Carlson—a man whose entire brand is built of spreading lies—thinks you’re too crazy to be believable, you’ve got a problem. You can watch the full rant below.

Kevin Feige Clarified What Disney’s CEO Meant When He Called ‘Shang-Chi’ An ‘Experiment,’ Saying It Was All A ‘Misunderstanding’

There’s been a lot of drama in the usually well-oiled Marvel Cinematic Universe of late. First Black Widow underperformed (after a pandemic-best opening weekend). Then its star, Scarlett Johansson, sued Disney, who owns the MCU, for releasing the film PVOD on Disney+. Over the weekend, another Marvel actor came for his bosses: Simu Liu, star of the forthcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, took issue with Disney CEO calling the film an “experiment.” Now MCU honcho Kevin Feige has tried to clear the air.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Feige took some time during the film’s premiere to address the kerfuffle, which he said was a misunderstanding. What Chapek was referring to when he called the film an “experiment” was not, as Liu thought, the fact that it has a mostly Asian cast. He meant that it’s their first film that will have a 45-day theatrical window before being made available on streaming.

Feige cleared that up in diplomatic fashion, saying of Liu, “He is not a shy man. I think in that particular tweet you can see and I think everyone does, a misunderstanding. It was not the intention.” He also praised the film itself. “The proof is in the movie and we swing for the fences as we always do. With the amount of creative energy we put in and the budget, there’s no expense spared to bring this origin story to the screen.”

The exec did discuss the issue of race, but he did so by comparing the film to Black Panther, which was the franchise’s first with a mostly Black cast. “When you have the opportunity to showcase a hero that looks like a huge segment of the globe that feels like they haven’t been showcased, the magic can happen if you deliver,” he told the crowd. “I think Destin [Daniel Cretton, director] and Simu have delivered for this movie.”

When Chapek’s comments were first made available, Liu pounced, tweeting, We are not an experiment.

We are the underdog; the underestimated. We are the ceiling-breakers. “We are the celebration of culture and joy that will persevere after an embattled year. We are the surprise.”

Shang-Chi, which also features Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung, opens in theaters — and in theaters only — on September 3.

Chris Cuomo Broke His Silence Over His Brother Andrew, Saying He Urged Him To Resign

For the last several months — and for the last couple weeks in particular — things have been a little awkward for Chris Cuomo. His brother, exiting New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, has been the subject of multiple controversies, among them allegations that he sexually harassed 11 women, several of them staffers. Chris, who admitted to advising his brother on his scandals, wasn’t allowed to cover any of it. But nearly a week after his older brother announced his resignation, he finally did.

Chris was on vacation last week, when the big news broke, but he was on the air when New York Attorney General Letitia James released her damning report, concluding that Andrew was guilty of harassment and creating a toxic work environment. He didn’t mention it then, but, on Monday, after discussing the chaos in Afghanistan, he addressed the elephant in the room.

“I’m not an adviser. I’m a brother. I wasn’t in control of anything, I was there to listen, and offer my take,” Chris told his audience. “My advice to my brother was simple and consistent, own what you did, tell people what you will do to be better, be contrite, and finally accept that it doesn’t matter what you intended, what matters is how your actions and words were perceived.”

He did claim there was one piece of advice Andrew took: “And while it was not something that I ever imagined ever having to do, I did urge my brother to resign, when the time came.”

Chris also addressed his previous attempts to advise Andrew, for which he apologized, saying it wouldn’t happen again. “I stopped, and I meant it,” Cuomo said. “I never made calls to the press about my brother’s situation, and I never influenced or attempted to control CNN’s coverage of my family.”

Andrew used to appear occasionally on his younger brother’s show, often joking around about their sibling semi-rivalry. After allegations came forth about COVID-related nursing home deaths in New York, accusing Andrew of mishandling their health protocols, those appearances ended.

Lauren Boebert Is Getting Dragged For A Nonsensical Tweet In Which She Seemed To Praise The Taliban (Or Something)

Today’s Trumpist conservatives have one main directive: own the libs. Anything that can rile progressives can be whip up the base. But sometimes the wires get crossed. Such was the case with wacko far right lawmaker Lauren Boebert, who on Monday tried to roast Joe Biden and the Democrats over the chaos taking over Afghanistan, from which U.S. troops have been pulled after 20 long years. But in the middle of some lib-owning, she seemed to…praise the Taliban? Or something.

“The Taliban are the only people building back better,” the Colorado representative tweeted.

What she meant by that was unclear. Was she marveling at the ingenuity of the violent Islamist movement, who harbored Osama bin Laden and other al-Qaeda leaders after the 9/11 terrorist attacks? Did she mean to slam the Dems but instead accidentally sort of praised one of America’s biggest enemies over the last two decades-plus? Maybe she had a bad malfunction at out popped word salad that could be read as treason?

Whatever she meant, it didn’t go over well on social media. Some were sure they knew what she meant.

Or simply weren’t surprised.

Others reminded her of what the Taliban stands for.

Some were amazed that she has such a powerful job.

But she could always get a new one.

Boebert was pretty busy on Monday — at least on social media. Hours after her cryptic Taliban tweet, she was at it again, this time seemingly making fun of the Afghans who were trying to flee the country.

In case she was trying to take the moral high ground on this issue, people reminded her that she voted against a bill to grant visas to Afghan interpreters and others who aided U.S. forces.

Meanwhile, others dug up an old tweet from January in which she — surprise surprise — endorsed America pulling out of Afghanistan.

Adidas Is Set To Release Patrick Mahomes’ First Signature Shoe In August

Patrick Mahomes is widely regarded as the best player in the NFL and, at the very least, the multi-talented quarterback is the heart and soul of the Kansas City Chiefs. Beyond his impact in Kansas City, Mahomes is a wildly entertaining player to watch, and his style of play appeals to both die-hards and casual football observers. To that end, it isn’t a surprise that Mahomes would be highly coveted in the apparel space and Adidas announced an Aug. 23 release of his first signature “Mahomes 1 Impact FLX” shoe.

The trainer is meant to be adaptable to Mahomes’ unique style of play, allowing him to work on his total game in one shoe, and the star QB was involved in the entire design process, from fit to design to logo creation.

The first colorway, referred to as “Go Time,” is a bright green color and it is meant to represent a green traffic light.

“The ‘Go Time’ green really pops – I wanted my signature shoe and apparel to stand out – look great and perform during my workouts, but also be eye-catching off-field,” Mahomes said. “I’m channeling that warrior-like game-time energy every day with the introduction of the new collection.”

Football players aren’t often presented the opportunity to create a signature shoe, but Mahomes’ crossover appeal is something adidas hopes to tap into in the lifestyle and training space that goes well beyond football. As for performance, the shoe features a stretch woven upper for durability, the tongue-less bootie construction that has become ever-popular in sneakers, and TPU overlays that “create additional lockdown and security in the forefoot for stability during dynamic movements.”

The Mahomes 1 Impact FLX will retail for $130, and there is a themed apparel collection that will feature hoodies, tees, joggers, long sleeve shirts and shorts. It stands to reason that this could be a popular release and, with Mahomes just entering his prime, it is also fair to assume this won’t be the last signature shoe that comes to light in his image.

Marcus Smart Has Reportedly Agreed To A Four-Year Extension With The Celtics

It’s been an interesting offseason for the Boston Celtics. With Brad Stevens in his new role leading the front office, the Celtics didn’t make a massive splash, but they flipped Kemba Walker in a deal for Al Horford, acquired Josh Richardson and landed Dennis Schroder on a one-year bargain contract to bolster their backcourt. However, Boston wasn’t done as mid-August arrived, as word broke on Monday that veteran guard Marcus Smart will be sticking around on a four-year extension that will keep him under contract through the 2025-26 season.

The four-year deal worth $77 million was the most that the Celtics could offer Smart as an extension. The defense-first guard will earn $14.3 million for the 2021-22 season and, with the option to offer him 120 percent of that salary with eight percent annual raises, the Celtics seemingly chose to do just that. As such, Smart will be staying in Boston, and he seemingly confirmed the deal seconds after it was reported.

While Smart is a sometimes inconsistent offensive player, he produced a career-best 13.3 points per game last season. Beyond that, Smart has stabilized as a perimeter shooter, knocking down a respectable 34.8 percent of his three-point attempts over the last three seasons, and he is a fearless creator. Still, his primary value comes with legitimately elite defense and, while Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the team’s offensive stars, this is a move that signals the value of Smart to the franchise as a key two-way piece.

‘Dead By Daylight’ Will Be Removing The Ability To Purchase DLC From ‘Stranger Things’ In November

Dead by Daylight is one of the more underappreciated multiplayer games out there. While the majority of multiplayer titles are shooters or battle royales, Dead by Daylight is a competitive horror game. A team of four go up against a single killer, and attempt to escape from whatever map they’re on while the killer will stalk around in an effort to slay them before that can happen.

However, what really makes Dead by Daylight so fun is the crossovers. The developers of the game have done an incredible job at not only creating interesting unique characters for their game but bringing in horror movie icons such as Jason, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers. They’ve even brought in some famous horror game characters like Pyramid Head and Heather from Silent Hill or Nemesis and Leon from Resident Evil. One of the more popular crossovers though was the introduction of Stranger Things. Since 2019, players have been able to pay and unlock Stranger Things characters Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, and The Demogorgon as playable characters. They’ve also had access to outfits and even a map.

Unfortunately, all of this will soon be going away. The developers of Dead by Daylight announced in a recent blog that all of their Stranger Things content will soon be removed from the game. Players will still be able to utilize characters from the game they’ve already paid for, but unfortunately, the Stranger Things themed map will not continue to be in rotation. Anything in relation to Stranger Things will no longer be available for purchase in November and they’re selling all its DLC content at 50% off so anyone that hasn’t gotten it yet should do so soon.

In September of 2019 Dead by Daylight welcomed one the most popular original horror properties of the last decade into the Fog with the Stranger Things Chapter.

Now, after two years filled with more brutal kills and last-second escapes than we can count courtesy of The Demogorgon, Nancy Wheeler, and Steve Harrington, November 17, 2021, will mark the last occasion for fans to purchase Stranger Things content in Dead by Daylight.

Leading up to this date we’ll be celebrating the heroes and horrors of Hawkins with a blowout sale on all Stranger Things characters and cosmetics. If you’ve already purchased any of our Stranger Things content – fret not! – it’s yours to keep for as long as you continue to play Dead by Daylight. If you’ve had your eye on any character or outfit you still want to add to your collection, now’s the time to scoop them up at an amazing discount.

This is really unfortunate for a lot of reasons. One of them being that fans of Stranger Things are losing out on some of the content that was in the game. The other side of this is that it’s a bummer to see them removing content that some people have already paid for. While it’s cool that we can continue to play as the characters, nobody is happy about losing an entire map.

The reason for why everything is being removed was not given but it likely has something to do with licensing, which is one of the downsides of such crossovers as once a licensing agreement runs out, if a new one can’t be reached, fans end up as the ones who lose out.

These tongue-in-cheek ‘teenager pro tips’ are hilariously and painfully spot on

Anyone who has raised a human being to (or near) adulthood knows that the teens years are all kinds of special. On the one hand, teens can be funny, smart, thoughtful, and caring. On the other hand, they also do things that make you scratch your head or bang it against the wall, depending on how bafflingly boneheaded they are.

There’s a reason that legal adulthood doesn’t start before 18. When research confirms the human brain isn’t fully developed until age 25, the only appropriate, informed response is, “Yeah, that tracks.” Because as delightful and fun as they can be, teens do things that simply don’t make sense.

What’s weird, though, is that enough teens do the same nonsensical things that it almost seems as if they’re following a playbook of some sort. It feels like a big conspiracy, like every teenager in America is part of some super-secret TikTok group planning out shenanigans to annoy their parents.

That feeling is why the Facebook page Teenager Pro Tips is so. dang. funny. It shares tips for teen living that are so spot on it’s spooky. Check this out:

“9pm is the proper time to request supplies for tomorrow’s school project.”

Or 10pm, if you’re an overachiever.

“Where to put wrappers. Candy: IN the sofa. Bandaid: ON the counter.”

I mean, where else would you put them?

“Find a chair that others use a lot. Put stuff on it.”

It’s a service. It’ll save the chair wear and tear.

“After drinking water from a cup, drink more water from a different cup.”

Again, the wear and tear thing. And someone’s going to clean all those glasses anyway, so who cares, right?

“When the ice cube tray is empty store it in the freezer.”

It’s an ice cube tray. That’s where it goes. Duh.

“Beg for a box of expensive protein bars. At the first bite decide you hate them.”

And definitely leave the once-bitten bar on the counter as a warning to others.

“Leave a half swallow of milk in the container. Put it back in the fridge. Say, ‘It’s not empty.'”

I mean, that’s technically and literally true. Teens are truth tellers.

“When asked to go get a sibling, don’t go. Instead, stand next to the person who asked and scream your sibling’s name.”

Just doing what they’re told.

“Tidy your room by putting clean clothes in the wash.”

When the clean clothes get thrown on the floor, are they still clean? These are the philosophical questions that keep teens up at night.

“Prepare socks for the laundry by rolling them up tightly. Occasionally add sand.”

Where oh where does all the sand come from? We don’t even live near a beach.

“When the dishwasher is empty put your dirty dishes in the sink.”

You mean there’s not a dish fairy that magically transfers the dishes from the sink into the dishwasher? Whuh?

“Load ice cubes in your hydro flask with 60% accuracy.”

And make sure you leave the 40% you missed to melt on the floor. Speaking of which…

“The water you accidentally spilled makes the floor slippery. Quickly exit to safety.”

Safety first! Always!

“If you scrunch up a towel correctly you can make it stay wet f.o.r.e.v.e.r.”

Forever and ever and evvverrrrrr.

“The proper way to hang a towel is not to.”

Just reiterating the f.o.r.e.v.e.r part.

“Set many early morning alarms 5 minutes apart. Get up some time after the last one.”

It’s all about waking up gradually, you see.

“Moments before it’s time to go yell WHERE’S MY SHIRT!”

It’s all about not getting ready gradually, you see.

“When reminded to do something say ‘I did’ until proven otherwise.

A claim without evidence is merely an opinion, Mom.

“Your bathroom counter should look like a chemistry lab.”

Including the aftermath of many experiments.

“Leave 2 squares of toilet paper so you don’t have to change the roll.”

Can’t change it if it’s not empty. Them’s the rules.

“Sparkling water drinks are like chores. They should never be finished.”

#HalfEmptyDrinks4Life

“When the trash is full, put more trash on it.”

Doesn’t count as full until you can’t balance anything on top anymore. Duh.

Clearly whoever runs this page has or has had teenagers of their own because every single one of these is on the nose. (Follow Teenager Pro Tips on Facebook for more hilarity and solidarity.)

A volunteer has been cleaning centuries-old tombstones and sharing their stories with people

As the old saying goes, everyone dies twice. The first time is your physical death, the second is the last time anyone utters your name.

If the old saying is true, then Caitlin Abrams is giving dozens of people a second life by cleaning their tombstones and allowing their names to be heard once again. Abrams volunteers at four cemeteries and cleans the tombstones of people who died between the 1700s to the early 1900s.

Most of the tombstones she cleans are hard to read, but after a good scrubbing and dousing with D2, hundreds of years of dirt and grime disappear, revealing their original inscriptions.

Abrams’ tombstone videos have attracted over 25 million views on TikTok. In addition to the cleansing, she adds a bit of history about the deceased and the era in which they lived.

Most of the tombstones Abrams cleans are those of women and children. She focuses on them to remind people just how common death was before the advent of modern medicine.

“Over the last few decades especially, death moved from something that everyone experienced on a daily basis in their own home to something that happens primarily to the elderly and far away in a hospital or nursing home,” she told Buzzfeed.

“Of course it is absolutely incredible, the progress that modern medicine has made, and we should all be thankful for it, but it does mean that we, especially younger generations, keep death at something of a distance,” she continued.

The graves are a window into a time long gone when children routinely died of diseases that are survivable today.

Here are some of Abrams’ most popular videos.

David James Carter and David James Carter

The older David died at the age of 12 from scarlet fever. After his passing, his parents named their next boy David James Carer as well. He would die of diptheria at a very young age. The boys also had a sister named Sarah who Abrams covers in the next video.

Sarah Carter

Sarah died in 1865 of typhoid fever, a bacterial infection that killed a lot of people in the U.S. prior to antibiotics. The grave has a tragic inscription: “Our happy hopes are buried here.” The Carters buried three children in the same decade.

Silas and Freddie Reed

Poor Silas died at the young age of 11 months of what’s described as “lung fever,” which was most likely pneumonia. His brother, Freddie, died almost a year after at the age of eight, due to typhoid fever. This cleansing is especially satisfying to watch because the tombstone goes from unreadable to readable in just a few minutes.

@manicpixiemom

Will definitely provide updates on Silas’s stone 🥰 #gravetok #gravestonecleaning #medicalhistory

Fannie Blackmer

Fannie died at the young age of 21 due to tuberculosis. Her headstone brightened up beautifully after the cleaning.

Olive Waite

Olive died at 21 in 1807 from what’s believed to be tuberculosis. The stone has a beautiful inscription:

See how she sleeps beneath the stone

In death’s cold shade her body lies while her triumphant soul is gone to join the songs above the skies

Methinks her shade appears to say “behold my relics lifeless clay”

The hour my fate, your oh maybe

Prepare dear youth to follow me

Rachel Burton “The Manchester Vampire”

Burton died in 1790 at the age of 21. Three years after her death, her husband Isaac’s second wife, Holda, came down with tuberculosis as well. Back then, people believed that tuberculosis was caused by deceased people who come back from the grave to curse family members with the disease.

Isaac believed that Rachel placed a curse on his current wife, so he had 500 people come to the cemetery where her body was exhumed. Her heart and liver were burned and Holda breathed in the ashes to be cured of the disease.

Sadly, Holda died anyway.
