‘Fox And Friends’ Sounded The Alarm On Weed And Violent Crime (What?) While Delta Variant Cases Rise

The Fox and Friends gang decided to be responsible last week (well, two of the co-hosts did) while urging people to get vaccinated, but maybe it’s time for Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade to get back-to-basics, so to speak by dropping misinformation about weed and generally claiming that it’s going to be the slippery slope by which civilization collapses.

Alright, so talking about a slippery slope is a little bit hyperbolic, but so is the claim that violent crime is rising because too many people are out there smoking weed (when really, the rising Delta variant rates should be the primary on-air concern). Yet the crew is concerned about rising crime, obviously, which they’ve already shown while telling people to avoid Times Square a few months ago. Now, Steve Doocy wishes to highlight how the chief cop in D.C. “finds a direct connection between violence and the pot users.”

After an introductory set-up about how New York City smells like “urine and pot,” Doocy raised the alarm on how Washington, D.C. police Chief Robert Contee warned against the downside of removing accountability for those who smoke weed. Contee argued that it leads to robberies, shootings, and this led to a discussion about how the co-hosts believe that people are having psychotic breaks (?) because of the weed.

“It’s hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube,” Doocy argued. “They’ve legalized pot in a bunch of places, and now, they’ve seen violent crime spike, and are gonna say, ‘You know what? We’ve made a mistake.”

Strangely enough, Brian Kilmeade stayed quiet during Doocy’s plea to end what they seem to believe is “Reefer Madness.”

Most likely, there’s probably plenty of munchies and couch dozing going on out there…

A lone fisherman was attacked by a shark. A drone cameraman saw it and stepped in.

A spearfisherman in Australia appears to have escaped death after a photographer with a drone stumbled across him being harassed by an aggressive shark.

Matt Woods was sitting on his balcony in Bondi Beach, Australia when he sent out his Mavic 2 Zoom to take some photos of the ocean when he noticed a spearfisherman fending off what appears to be a mako shark.

“I spotted the shark straight away as there was a big bait ball of fish and as I got closer I could see it was also circling the diver in the water,” Woods told The Daily Mail. “The diver was fending the shark off and poking it with his spear gun. The shark then went after his float that is attached to the diver. He was charging it and trying to bite it, thrashing it about.”

Imagine being the spearfisherman. You’re all alone in the ocean, there’s no one to help you, and for what feels like an eternity a shark with massive teeth is trying to take a bite out of you.

Nick Wegner of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography says that a mako shark is one of the last fish you want to come across when you’re out in the ocean. “I’d compare a mako to something like a cheetah, but bigger and with larger teeth and more muscle,” Wegner said.

The shortfin mako can swim up to 60 MPH and can freefall with the speed of a skydiver.

However, mako shark attacks are very uncommon. According to Business Insider, there are only 10 documented mako attacks since people began keeping records in 1580. Although it’s assumed that many have gone unreported.

But as you can see in the video, the spear fisherman was far from safe.

Woods and his girlfriend immediately notified local lifeguards of the attack and he continued to monitor the situation with his drone.

“I felt as if we helped as best we could,” he continued. “We got on the phone to the lifeguards straight away on my girlfriend’s phone while I stayed over the shark on my drone the whole time so we could guide them in.”

For almost half an hour Woods watched the shark bite at the fisherman’s orange float.

“I was pretty concerned for the diver as the shark looked angry. I’ve never seen anything like it before, only whales. I always seem to miss sharks. We know there are sharks here all the time but nothing like this,” Woods continued.

It took about 30 minutes for the lifeguards to clear the beach of swimmers and hop on their jet skis to get out to the fisherman. When they arrived the loud sound of the jet skis scared the shark away. The lifeguards were then able to extract him from the dangerous situation.

Woods then went down to the beach to try and meet the spearfisherman but couldn’t find him. “I went looking for the diver after trying to try and meet him but couldn’t find him,” he said.

Thankfully, he found him when it mattered most.

42 Dugg Is The ‘Turnest N**** In The City’ In His Jittery New Video

The Collective Music Group takeover continues with 42 Dugg’s “Turnest N**** In The City” video. Like other recent videos from Yo Gotti’s label like EST Gee’s “Price Tag” and Moneybagg Yo’s “Wockesha,” it features straightforward images of the rapper performing interspersed with computer effects like freeze frames, cutouts, and visual effects. Yo Gotti makes his customary cameos as well, while 42 Dugg shows off his money and jewelry on a yacht, surrounded by women.

42 Dugg is jointly signed to both Yo Gott’s CMG and Lil Baby’s 4PF after impressing both rappers with his 11241 Wayburn mixtape in 2018 and broke out in the mainstream after appearing on Lil Baby’s My Turn album on the songs “Grace” and “We Paid.” Earlier this year, he released his song “4 Da Gang” with Roddy Ricch, gaining even more momentum — momentum which culminated in his selection to the 2021 XXL Freshman List alongside fellow Michigan rapper DDG, Pooh Sheisty, and more. He further distinguished himself with his verse in the XXL Freshman Cypher, closing out a session including Flo Milli and Rubi Rose. The added exposure makes now the perfect time to turn up the promotion on his May mixtape, Free Dem Boyz, and build on the hard work that he’s put in — which is finally paying off.

Free Dem Boyz is out now on CMG and 4PF.

Leaked ‘The Flash’ Set Photos Seemingly Reveal The First Look At Ben Affleck’s Return As Batman

Looks like Ben Affleck is back from vacation with recently reignited flame Jennifer Lopez and already suited up to reprise his role as “the world’s greatest detective.” Recently leaked photos from the set of the upcoming Flash film reveal what appears to be Affleck — or perhaps his stunt double — on set and shooting some scenes involving the Batcycle. Based on the photos, Affleck’s batsuit (while still pretty dang clunky) is slightly different than the ones we’ve seen before — though it could just be the version the stunt double is sporting. What is certain about this suit however, is that it will be the last time we’ll see Affleck wearing it.

According to a 2020 Vanity Fair report, Affleck is hanging up the cowl and his role as Batman once he finishes up his work on The Flash. In fact, producer Barbara Muschietti revealed it was already a “question mark” for the team on if Affleck would even be involved in The Flash, as he had been “having a very hard time playing Batman” in his previous films. However, according to director Andy Muschietti, the team is happy to have Affleck on board, as he expressed the importance of Batman in the upcoming film:

“He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.”

Though while we say Affleck’s departure from DC is both imminent and final, perhaps we can never say never when it comes to actors returning as Batman. After all, Affleck won’t be the only Batman returning in The Flash. According to reports, Batman and Batman Returns actor Michael Keaton will also be playing Batman in the film– or at least a version of him. You see, much like what Marvel is currently doing, The Flash movie will focus on the DC multiverse, largely borrowing it’s plot from the famous DC Comics’ story Flashpoint.

The Flash, led by star Ezra Miller and featuring Affleck, Keaton, and Sasha Calle as newcomer Supergirl, scheduled to release November 4, 2022.

‘What We Do In The Shadows’ Teases An eBay Sale In The Season 3 Trailer

Get ready to do your “dark bidding on the internet” because the vampires from What We Do in the Shadows are parting with several occult oddities in the latest trailer for the show’s third season. In the trailer, Nandor’s (Kayvan Novak) over-worked and under-appreciated familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) is seen assisting the vampires with some spring cleaning as he photographs items such as a loose bone, an evil bucket, and a tried-and-true “sex rock” and posts them on eBay to sell. While the clip doesn’t give us a whole lot of information in regards to what the FX series’ third season has in store for us, it does remind us just how much we miss Nandor, Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Colin (Mark Proksch), and all their zany hijinks.

For those who have yet to watch What We Do in the Shadows, the comedic mockumentary follows four vampire roommates living in Staten Island trying their best to acclimate to modern times, stay out of the sunlight, and avoid vampire hunters. The series is a spin-off of the hit film of the same name and is executive produced by the film’s original creators (and New Zealand legends) Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Taiki Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), in addition to Paul Simms, Garrett Basch, Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, and Stefani Robinson.

Luckily we won’t be waiting too much longer to reunite with our undead friends and see how many pennies their creepy clutter earns them. Season 3 of What We Do in the Shadows premieres on FX on September 2, with episodes available for streaming the next day on both Hulu and FX.

Report: The Pelicans Are Trading Bledsoe, Adams, And Pick 10 To Memphis For Valanciunas And 17

There have been a number of rumors leading up to Draft week that we could see a flurry of action and some significant moves heading into Thursday night, and the first domino fell on Monday afternoon between two Western Conference rivals.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a blockbuster deal that will see the Pelicans clear significant cap space for this summer, while Memphis adds a quality backup point guard in Eric Bledsoe and, most importantly, moves up from No. 17 in this year’s Draft to No. 10, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Lakers pick being sent to Memphis is also, per Andrew Lopez, top-10 protected for 2022 (although, that likely won’t come into play).

Getting off of both Bledsoe and Adams’ contracts while taking back just Valanciunas clears $21 million off of their books, which is a massive number and now allows them to seriously get into the Kyle Lowry sweepstakes. Valanciunas is also arguably a better fit alongside Zion Williamson because he is more comfortable and capable of stepping out to the perimeter to create more space at the rim for Zion, who emerged as the best rim finisher in the league last season.

For Memphis, it is clear they were comfortable using their cap space to take on two hefty contracts if it allowed them to move up in this draft to the top 10 (and add a non-lottery first next season), and they clearly have a strong feeling that the player they want desperately to join their excellent young core will be there at No. 10 overall. Who that is, exactly, remains to be seen, but Moses Moody and Josh Giddey have been names many have considered as strong candidates for a team trading up into the lottery to target.

What’s On Tonight: It’s A Good Night To Catch Up On Weekend Leftovers, Including ‘Woodstock 99’ On HBO

Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage (HBO film on HBO Max) — All was not what it seems for this three-day music festival that was meant to revive the countercultural idealism of its 1969 predecessor. Well, things weren’t “peace and love” in 1999, but rather, a total disaster by most standards. Mosh pits, blazing heat, a distinct lack of sanitation, and an absence of free water led to riots and looting, all of which were not deterred by the scant security measures. Decades later, this documentary looks back upon a pivotal moment when rose-tinted nostalgia evaporated under the hard truths exposed by this mismanaged festival. All pre-Fyre Festival!

Ted Lasso: Season 2 (Apple TV+ series) — First thing’s first: Everyone who’s caught a glimpse of this Bill Lawrence co-created and developed series loves it. That’s a notable feat, considering that star Jason Sudeikis first portrayed the title character way back in 2013 for NBC Sports’ promos for Premier League coverage. Fast forward to the fresh hell that was 2020, and the show surfaced as one of the year’s lone bright spots. Ted Lasso is somehow both relentlessly and charmingly cheery, and do check out Brian Grubb’s power rankings from the season premiere.

Ultra City Smiths: Season 1 (AMC+ series) — Fans of Robot Chicken will undoubtedly want to check out this stop-motion animated selection from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and showrunner Steve Conrad. Expect very adult-oriented humor and the voices of Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Alia Shawkat, Tim Meadows, John C. Reilly, Bebe Neuwirth, Jason Mantzoukas, and Damon Herriman. The show revolves around a corrupt city and a sort-of whodunit with the most unorthodox detectives (literally baby dolls). Hey, this show has Dewey Crowe, so why ask for logic?

And back to some regularly scheduled programming:

Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes (HBO, 9:00pm) — Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ronan Farrow’s podcast undergoes this miniseries treatment. This week, Farrow and his fact checkers fend off threats from Harvey Weinstein’s team, and an undercover spy reveals how he was hired to gather evidence on Farrow before becoming a Farrow source.

The Beast Must Die: (AMC, 9:00pm) — Jared Harris and Cush Jumbo star in this revenge-thriller series (which originally aired on BritBox UK and achieved a viewing record) that has already been renewed for a second season. This week, Frances works out how to set her plan into motion.

Roswell, New Mexico (CW, 8:00pm) — Season 3 begins with Liz adjusting to new Los Angeles life and career while the gang’s still working out whether to worry about that stranger from the cave.

The Republic Of Sarah (CW, 9:00pm) — This show follows the ending of tranquility of Greylock, N.H., after a stash of valuable coltan leads to new overlords, and a rebellious teacher (Sarah Cooper) steps in to halt the madness. This week, Greylock’s newly sovereign, and their Congress must deal with the very relevant subject of immigration, since Greylock is so hot right now.

Report: Aaron Rodgers Is Nearing A Deal To Return To Green Bay For One More Season

The dominant storyline of the offseason in the NFL has been whether Aaron Rodgers will return to Green Bay for another season with the Packers after making it clear that he wanted out due to a variety of decisions made by the organization, including using a 2020 first round pick on quarterback Jordan Love instead of some immediate help for Rodgers.

That decision seemed to kick Rodgers into gear, as he put forth an MVP winning season as Green Bay fell just short of the Super Bowl, losing to the eventual champion Buccaneers in the NFC title game. Since that point, Rodgers has threatened to walk away from football entirely (taking his turn at hosting Jeopardy! at one point this year) and has been steadfast in his desire to leave. With top receiver Davante Adams likewise shutting down future contract talks out of loyalty to Rodgers, the Packers faced a crisis as camp approached, but it seems a detente is on its way.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapaport of NFL Network, Rodgers and the Packers are nearing a deal that will bring him back to Green Bay this season, with the Packers making it easier for Rodgers to leave after next season if he doesn’t feel they have made the necessary changes to give him the support around him he wants.

According to Schefter, the new agreement would void the 2023 year in his contract while also including a provision that the Packers will promise to “review Rodgers’ situation at the end of this season,” allowing for a greater trade possibility if they can’t agree on their long term future. It appears like this deal will get done and Green Bay will get at least one more year to chase a second championship with Rodgers at the helm before potentially having to kickstart a rebuild around Love. For Rodgers, he gets the future flexibility sooner rather than later to find a better situation in the coming years if Green Bay takes a step back and his holdout seemed to produce the leverage hoped for in getting these concessions from the Packers.

Wacky GOP Rep. Clay Higgins Claimed He Had ‘Natural Immunity’ From COVID But Now Has It For A 2nd Time, And It’s ‘Far More Challenging’ This Time

As more stories from vaccine-hesitant conservatives lead to them contracting COVID-19 and clearly regretting their decision not to get jabbed, here’s the tale of GOP Representative Clay Higgins.

The Republican lawmaker recently took to Facebook (according to the American Press) to share a health update with his followers. In the post, Higgins confirmed that he, along with members of his immediate family (his wife and son), contracted COVID for the second time. Higgins claimed that he and his wife first contracted the virus in early January 2020, “before the world really knew what it was.” Despite experiencing the illness firsthand, Higgins spent much of the past year spreading misinformation when it came to CDC directives on things like mask-wearing. He announced in May that he refused to wear a face-covering, claiming that it actually trapped bacteria in instead of protecting people from contracting the virus.

“Can you smell through that mask?” Higgins said. “Then you’re not stopping any sort of a virus. It’s part of the dehumanization of the children of God. You’re participating in it by wearing a mask.”

Higgins had also refused to disclose his vaccination status though he recently told the American Press that, according to his doctor, he was “naturally immunized” against COVID after surviving a brush with it last year. Apparently, that wasn’t the case. Higgins latest social media announcement revealed that both he and his wife are struggling with this second infection.

What’s worse, Higgins’s own father-in-law died from complications of COVID-19 this past December. Despite all this, the GOP rep chose to use his announcement as a way to double down on the right-wing conspiracy theory that posits that the Chinese government secretly engineered COVID to wield as a biological weapon, an accusation that has no basis in fact. But it’s not the weirdest thing Higgins has claimed recently. Last October, the Congressman tweeted a truly bizarre account of a dream that his wife had:

She apparently didn’t foresee another positive COVID test in their future.

DaBaby Responds To The Criticism Of His Homophobic Comments At Rolling Loud

After being criticized online for making homophobic comments during his Rolling Loud set this weekend, DaBaby has responded to fans’ disapproval. Unfortunately, anyone looking for contrition, empathy, or understanding from the North Carolina rapper had better look elsewhere, as instead of acknowledging the harm, he went on a defensive tirade, telling observers “it’s not y’all business” on his Instagram Story.

In his “explanation,” he insists that his words were taken out of context and “twisted up.” More important to him is that “the show is for the n****s that paid the money and took the time out they life to come enjoy the show.” He reiterates his original words and asserts that “all the lights went up… ’cause even my gay fans don’t got AIDS” and that they “ain’t nasty n****s” or “junkies.”

DaBaby came under fire for delivering a call-and-response during his set in which he said, ““If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexual transmitted diseases that make you die in two or three weeks, then put your cell phone light in the air.” He implored, “If you ain’t suck a n****’s dick in the parking lot, put your cell phone light in the air.”

Many pointed out the misinformation contained in his statement — neither HIV nor any other STDs can kill you “in two or three weeks” — and how repeating harmful stereotypes reinforces them, but it appears their concerns fell on deaf ears. Meanwhile, DaBaby has yet to address the criticism he also received as a result of bringing out Tory Lanez to perform with him after he performed his collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, who Tory is accused of shooting in her feet.

You can see DaBaby’s response above.
