One of the year’s most-anticipated music festival lineups is here. Bonnaroo 2025, held as always in Manchester, Tennessee, is being headlined by Luke Combs and Dom Dolla on Thursday; Tyler, The Creator, John Summit, and Glass Animals on Friday; Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, and Justice on Saturday; and Hozier, Vampire Weekend, and Queens Of The Stone on Sunday.

There’s also Goose, Tipper, Wallows, MJ Lenderman, Glorilla, Hot Mulligan, Beabadoobee, Shaboozey, Barry Can’t Swim, and Remi Wolf, who is throwing an “insanely fire 1970’s pool party superjam.” Another fun addition to this year’s lineup is King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard playing a mini-residency with three sets over the course of three days.

Tickets for Bonnaroo 2025, which goes down from June 12-15, go on sale on Thursday, January 9, at 10 a.m. CT. Four-day general admission starts at $420; there’s also four-day GA+ for $695, four-day VIP for $999, four-day platinum for $3,995, and four-day platinum (“an exclusive experience that will bring you into the inner workings of the festival from a unique vantage point”) for $26,000. It’s been kind of a while since Uproxx last covered new music from noise-rap clique clipping. Of course, since then, the group’s rapper, Daveed Diggs, has been fairly busy with his acting career, appearing in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid with Halle Bailey and the Golden Globe-winning indie film Nickel Boys, as well as a bunch of TV shows as a voice actor.

However, it appears the group is back; after releasing “Run It” and “Keep Pushing” last year, they’ve announced their new album today. Dead Channel Sky is inspired by the themes and sounds of the cyberpunk oeuvre, with today’s single, “Change The Channel,” exemplifying the project’s dedication to hard-hitting techno production. It’s a decided departure from their usual, industrial-sounding production, but no less high-concept and left-of-center for contemporary rap styles, but what remains consistent is Diggs’ dedication to proving that he can rap on anything. His labyrinthine rhyme construction sounds just as good here as on any of their prior stuff — and truth be told, the new sonic direction is probably as palatable for mainstream audiences as they’ve ever been. Think the soundtracks for the Blade movies and you’re in the ballpark.

A few months ago, Darkside announced their first run of North American shows in over a decade, set to start in March. It turns out the tour will be preceded by a new album: Today (January 8), the group (Nicolás Jaar, Dave Harrington, and now featuring drummer Tlacael Esparza) announced their third album, Nothing. The new album follows 2021’s Spiral. They also shared the song “S.N.C.”

A press release notes the project “slips through the cracks of convention with serpentine guitars, extraterrestrial static, and cavernous drums.” It’s further described as “nine transmissions of negative space, telepathic seance, and spectral improvisation” and as having “haunted rhythms, distorted vocals, and uncanny beauty.”

The power of rock really can bring people together.

Angelo Massagli and Caitlin Hale, who portrayed classmates in Richard Linklater’s 2003 film School Of Rock (he played security guard Frankie, she was pigtailed backup singer Marta), got married over the weekend.

Nine cast members were in attendance, and they danced to “Edge Of Seventeen” by Stevie Nicks, a nod to a memorable scene in the movie. Jack Black couldn’t make it due to his shooting schedule, but Hale called him “so nice and generous with his words and definitely commemorated it privately.”

“Even though it wasn’t romantic, that familiarity we had and our families had when we were younger, really cut through some of those early relationship hurdles,” Massagli told The New York Times about their shared history together. Hale added, “I knew very early. I actually said to one of my close friends, I remember being in an Uber on the way down to Miami one weekend and we were going out and I was like, I think I’m gonna marry this guy.”

Massagli and Hale (who now work as an OB/GYN sonographer and a lawyer, respectively) picked Chaka Khan’s “Through The Fire” for their first dance song. They wanted it to feel like “if Studio 54 never closed.” Black’s Dewey Finn would have preferred CBGB, but it’s not his day.

Kanye West and Adidas have had a tumultuous relationship for the past couple years now, a relationship that officially dissolved in October 2024 when the two parties reached an out-of-court settlement. In a conference call at the time, Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden said, “There isn’t any more open issues. No one owes anybody anything anymore. So whatever was is history.”

Despite that, Ye is upset.

In a lengthy post shared on Instagram last night (January 7), West accused Adidas of attempting to bury his Yeezy brand in online search results, writing, “When you google Yeezy.com the adidas site comes before the Yeezy site Members at adidas Stop doing this Stop doing your moves to hold me back Our partnership is done You’re a 60 billion dollar company that froze my accounts Now I’m back on my feet (no pun intended) and I’m not going to stand for this (no pun again).”

He also called out designer Jerry Lorenzo, who recently signed a deal with Adidas, writing, “side note yall know Jerry was corny and disloyal for doing work with adidas after the way they handled things I still showed up to his show that was a copy of my Hollywood bowl show being the so called bigger man but I’m never doing that again for no one It’s Yeezy over everything.”

It was reported last month that Lily Allen and David Harbour broke up after five years together. Now, more details are coming out about the split.

The relationship ended after the singer allegedly discovered the Stranger Things star’s profile on celebrity dating app Raya. According to The Daily Mail, “Lily rejoined the dating app where she first met David, and pretended to be ‘looking for women.’ She soon discovered that David had already set up a dating profile and was listed on the app as being active for at least a month.”

A source told the British publication, “Lily was looking for women that were on Raya and cross-referencing them with women David follows on Instagram to try to figure out who he was seeing… Lily only rejoined Raya to try to figure out whether he was seeing someone. Lily has never even looked at anyone since she met David. She is devastated. He broke up with Lily a month ago. He was meant to be on holiday with her in Kenya over Christmas.”

Allen previously got candid about Harbour’s requests in the bedroom. “I wonder if I kink-shame my husband because he often asks for things,” she said on the Miss Me? podcast in June 2024, “and I’m like, ‘No, babe, it’s not happening.’ I’m not like, ‘You piece of sh*t, how dare you ask me to do that!’ I’m just like, ‘Hmm, headache. Little headache, got a bit of a headache… maybe not tonight.’”

Allen was mostly joking, as she also said, “I’m quite into normalizing everything that people are ashamed about in themselves. I was talking to David about this last night. During the breakdown of my last marriage, I was very, very promiscuous and experimental and I engaged in, well, I had sex with female prostitutes. Sex workers, sorry.”

Sabrina Carpenter is riding some huge momentum going into 2025, as she emerged as one of the world’s biggest breakout pop stars in 2024. “Espresso” was the year’s most-streamed song on Spotify (until it wasn’t), Short N’ Sweet was a No. 1 album, and her tour in support of the project was also a hit.

As for how Carpenter has processed all of this, she doesn’t really seem to have quite yet.

In a new interview with People, Carpenter said:

“I don’t think I have fully reflected yet, as I’m also trying to be present in the moment. But I’m just happy to see my songs connect with so many people from all walks of life. That’s why I love to write songs.”

In terms of how she got to this point, she also said, “I’ve always been true to myself and believed in my work since I was young. I’ve realized that it’s always been about the small baby steps that you take over time to get you to this point.”

Meanwhile, the 2025 Grammy Awards are coming up on February 2, and Carpenter is in the running for a handful of awards, including the four majors: Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Record Of The Year, and Best New Artist.

Electronic duo Odesza have become known for their jaw-dropping live shows. While the “Across The Room” musicians are a music festival fixture, this coming summer they have more intimate plans.

Yesterday (January 7) on Instagram, Odesza announced their residency with luxury hotel and casino, Wynn Las Vegas. Beginning in May, fans can catch DJ sets from Odesza at multiple Wynn affiliated nightclubs (including Encore Beach Club and XS Nightclub).

Due to where the performances will take place, supporters should know that you must be at least 21 years of age to snag a ticket to any of Odesza’s five residency dates. For those who aren’t able to jam out, Odesza ensured they won’t be left off by teasing new music plans. “2025, back in the studio,” they wrote. “We’ve been finding a ton of new inspiration while we’ve been working on new music. We want to share some of it with you all—so we’re gonna do some DJ sets this year at Wynn Las Vegas.”

Odesza’s 2025 Wynn Residency Poster

One thing that the Atlanta Hawks probably want to avoid as they try to make it above the Play-In line in the Eastern Conference is a loss to the Utah Jazz, which are trying to take things to build on this year as they also shoot for ping pong balls in the upcoming NBA Draft Lottery. While it looked like that had a chance to happen on Tuesday night, Trae Young had other ideas.

The two teams played a tense game in Utah, one that came down to the final moments. With four seconds remaining and the Hawks up by three, Collin Sexton pulled up from way behind the three-point line and buried a triple to tie things up. The Hawks, unsurprisingly, put the ball in the hands of Young, who did this:

Young has produced plenty of moments of magic during his time in Atlanta, but this is right up there with any impressive shot that he’s knocked down in his career. Thanks to this, the Hawks were able to pick up a 121-118 win, with Young’s 24 points and 20 assists leading the way. While he only went 3-for-10 from behind the three-point line on the evening, well, he knocked down the most important one he took, so we assume that he and everyone else in Atlanta are pretty content right now.

Since Boy Genius supposedly announced their indefinite hiatus, each member (Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus) has kept themselves busy.

For Lucy Dacus, that included a few intimate solo tour dates. Today (January 7), the “Night Shift” singer revealed that fans should expect new music.

Over on Dacus’ official TikTok page, she teased her forthcoming single, “Best Guess.” While she was sure to treat supporters to a taste of what’s to come, her snippet served two purposes. To support the audio clip, Dacus used the visual component (viewable here) to announce an open call for its promotional video.

The note displayed on the screen outlined what Dacus envisions for the video, writing: “Attention, I am seeking some people to be in the music for this song. If you are smooth or suave or can pretend to be. Maybe you’re a hot masc. Maybe you are simply willing and able and not afraid to be on camera.”

Dacus then went out to provide followers with instructions on how they can throw their hats in the ring. “Use this sound with a video of yourself looking cool,” she wrote. “My team will reach out from this account by next week with more info.”

To close it out, Dacus stressed the time sensitive nature of the outcry. But, she shouldn’t have any issues as fans began to flood the comment section expressing their interest to be involved.
