Travis Scott is open to rumbling in the wrestling ring. However, one person is ready to deliver the smack down in the court of law. Today (January 10), reports reveal that the “Fein” rapper could be soon duke it out over one of his recent tracks.
In documents obtained by Billboard, Travis Scott, SZA, and Future have been accused of intellectual property theft. The three entertainers are named in a copyright lawsuit that claims their Utopia collaboration “Telekinesis” was stolen from other musician.
Roc Nation singer-songwriter Victory Boyd claims the lyrics and melodies heard in her 2019 song “Like the Way It Sounds” were incorporated into “Telekinesis” without authorization. Boyd went on to allege that her former Jesus Is King collaborator Kanye West played a role in the intellectual property theft.
Boyd says she “shared her song” with Ye, he then turned around and recorded his own version after which he presented it to Scott, SZA, and Future. Still, West is not named as a defendant in the case.
Boyd is credited as a co-writer on the track but only as a friendly gesture from Scott. Boyd’s lawyers claim that she was privately offered an 8-percent writing credit in an attempt to resolve the copyright dispute after she expressed his dissatisfaction with Scott’s alleged actions.
Representatives for neither Scott, SZA, nor Future have released a statement regarding the matter.
The January supply of new TV seasons is not lacking. That includes shows on Apple TV+, where Severance will finally return after three years. Will this season be worth the gap? Critics overwhelmingly say so, and Adam Scott has predicted that the upcoming season finale will be met with thirst for a third season, but c’mon guys, let’s not wait three more years on that one. Please?
When Does Severance Season 2 Premiere On Apple TV+?
Mark, Helly, Irving, and Dylan will be back in the office on Friday, January 17 with one episode. From there, the season will have a total ten weekly episodes that will conclude on March 21. Will there be dancing, though? There had better be some moves from Milchick, at least.
This season will follow up on the Innies’ going rogue in their Outies’ world, and teasers have suggested that Milchick will be even more passive-aggressive in the aftermath of their attempted whistleblowing spree. The goats will be back, too, and new characters will be portrayed by Alia Shawkat, Merritt Wever, and Gwendoline Christie. We are truly blessed with an abundance of the latter on streaming TV. The Game of Thrones actress will also be seen in The Sandman‘s second season, and do not count her out (as Christie has suggested) when Wednesday returns. For now, though, it’s almost Party Down time at Lumon.
Ahead of the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow, billboards started popping up reading “The End Is Near,” written in different fonts representing Abel Tesfaye’s different eras as The Weeknd. He also wrote “8 beautiful chapters in this story” on social media. When asked by Variety if he’s ending the After Hours trilogy (which consists of 2020’s After Hours, 2022’s Dawn FM, and the upcoming Hurry Up Tomorrow) or his identity as The Weeknd, music’s biggest concept artist replied, “I would say my existence as The Weeknd.”
He continued, “It’s a headspace I’ve gotta get into that I just don’t have any more desire for. I feel like it comes with so much… You have a persona, but then you have the competition of it all. It becomes this rat race: more accolades, more success, more shows, more albums, more awards, and more No. 1s. It never ends until you end it.”
Tesfaye isn’t done making music, per se, but “everything needs to feel like a challenge. And for me right now, The Weeknd, whatever that is, it’s been mastered. No one’s gonna do The Weeknd better than me, and I’m not gonna do it better than what it is right now. I think I’ve overcome every challenge as this persona, and that’s why I’m really excited about this film, because I love this challenge.”
The latest additions to the FX show’s trophy case includes Outstanding Lead Actor (Jeremy Allen White), Outstanding Supporting Actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Liza Colón-Zayas), and Outstanding Directing (creator Christopher Storer), all from the Emmys, as well as Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy for the Golden Globes (Allen White) and pending nominations at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards, Directors Guild of America Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The awards stockpiling will likely continue once The Bear returns for season 4, which should be sooner rather than later.
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming season.
Plot
Just to refresh your memory: The Bear season 3 ended with Carmy confronting Chef Joel McHale at Michelin-starred Ever; Sydney having a panic attack while throwing a party at her place; and Richie reuniting with Jessica, who previously appeared in the best episode of the show. The final shot of the season shows Carmy walking down the street when the review of The Bear hits the Chicago Tribune. “Motherf*cker,” he exclaims before looking upwards.
Will season 4 pick up from there?
It’s unclear, as plot details are scarce. We do know, however, that both seasons weren’t filmed at the same time, at least not entirely (it sounds like some of season 4 is in the can). That was the original idea since stars Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach have packed shooting schedules with other projects, but according to The Playlist, “the plan was scrapped as [season 4] scripts weren’t ready in time.” The expectation is that season 4 will resume filming in “February/March time.”
You know Carmy is going to be a sad sack whenever The Bear is back (we get it, you love Claire, jeez), but what about Cousin? “I know where he’s going,” Moss-Bachrach told Rolling Stone about Richie. “I think there’s a lot of things that happen in the third season… seeds planted in the third season that really come to bloom in the fourth season. I think it will be a very, very exciting, chaotic, cathartic season, and yeah, I guess I’ll just leave it there.”
As for whether season 4 will be the final season, here’s what FX honcho John Landgraf had to say about that:
We really don’t know. These decisions are really creative decisions. It was Sterlin Harjo who made a decision that Rez Dogs was a three-season series. And so it’s really Chris [Storer’s] decision on The Bear. It’s about, how much more story does he have to tell? I mean, obviously, I’m hoping he has more than one more season of story to tell. But not to the extent that if there was one great season or three mediocre ones, I’d rather have one great one. You just have to follow the creative.
Landgraf also confirmed to Variety that The Bear will stick with the all-at-once binge model rather than weekly episodes. “Unfortunately, you can’t get to everything for every one of your fans, every one of your consumers that they want,” he said. “I wish I could take the request from every fan of The Bear and give them just the version of it that they want and if they want it weekly, I wish I could give it to them weekly. But I think the show itself that Chris makes is designed to be consumed as a season in many ways.”
Cast
Unless a certain Fantastic Four actor decides to go method and starts clobberin’ his co-stars, the entire main cast from season 3 will be back. That includes Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, Ayo Edebiri as Sydney, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richie, Lionel Boyce as Marcus, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina, Abby Elliott as Natalie, Matty Matheson as Neil Fak, Oliver Platt as “Uncle,” and, more likely than not, Molly Gordon as Claire. Might we see Jamie Lee Curtis again, too? If she wants another Emmy, then, yes, definitely.
Release Date
The Bear appeared in Disney+’s “Coming In 2025” sizzle reel, so while no exact date has been announced, season 4 will premiere sometime this year. Most likely “sometime summery,” according to Edebiri.
Sticks and stones may break Julia Michaels’ bones, but she has a secret weapon of her own. The “Weird” singer won’t allow heartbreak to hold her back.
On Michaels’ new single “Scissors,” she enlists the help of Maren Morris to take a stab back at the stinging pain of a lost love. “You wanna say goodbye, I’m not crying rivers / If you wanna cut ties, I’ll get the scissors, baby / I don’t mind, I’m not even bitter / If you wanna cut ties, I’ll get the scissors, baby,” sings Michaels.
As a fairly recent divorcée, Morris seemingly pulled from her own romantic history when she sang: “You should know about me / When it comes to lovers, I’m not repetitious / I know I look it, but I’m not that precious / You don’t have to stay the second we get finished so.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Michaels opened up about the track’s inspiration. “‘Scissors’ is a funny way of saying that I’m unbothered,” she said. “My skin is thick. I’m not pressed if someone wants to leave. Half the time I don’t want them to stay either.”
Michaels and Morris aren’t held back by heartache: Instead, they used it to craft yet another anti-heartbreak anthem.
On this week’s episode of the Miss Me? podcast, the singer told co-host Miquita Oliver that she’s “finding it hard to be interested in anything… I’m really not in a good place. I know I’ve been talking about it for months, but I’ve been spiraling and spiraling and spiraling and it’s got out of control.”
Allen also shut down speculation that Harbour found her in a “crack den.”
“I do want to reassure people, because there will be speculation because of the amount of time that I’m going to be taking away that I’m going to drug rehab, and I’m not,” she said, according to BuzzFeed. “I’ve not relapsed. There’ve been some horrible blind items on the internet about me being found by my husband in a crack den being surrounded by men. I don’t know who’s spreading these vicious rumors, but that’s not true.”
Allen reportedly caught Harbour using celebrity dating app Raya, leading to their alleged separation. “Lily has never even looked at anyone since she met David,” a source told The Daily Mail. “She is devastated. He broke up with Lily a month ago. He was meant to be on holiday with her in Kenya over Christmas.”
Sesame Street has an astounding history of celebrity guest stars, so much so that appearing on the show is something of a right of passage. Well, some more folks are about to join the club.
A new season, the show’s 55th, debuts on January 16 via Max. Featured guests were announced, and they include Reneé Rapp (on the January 16 episode), Michael B. Jordan (January 23), Samara Joy (February 6), Noah Kahan (March 6), SZA (April 10), Chris Stapleton (July 24), Jonathan Van Ness (August 21), and Billie Jean King (August 28).
As for what to expect from the upcoming season, executive producer Sal Perez says in a statement, “New episodes of Sesame Street will help young viewers understand and express their feelings, learn new mindfulness practices, and as always, have a blast with their favorite furry and funny friends. Whether it’s taking a volcano breath when angry, learning to give yourself a hug when frustrated, or wiggling it out when disappointed, we are empowering children with the strategies to help build resiliency and the foundational skills for emotional well-being.”
SZA shared a photo from the Sesame Street set back in March 2024 and she was beyond excited, writing, “GODS TIMING !!! FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS AND SAY THEM OUTLOUD !!NEVER GIVE UP !! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE I BELIEVE IN YOU !!”
The song, from 1990 classic Fear Of A Black Planet, “is a protest song extracted from the Watts rebellion, coined by the magnificent Montague in 1965 against inequality when he said ‘burn baby burn’ across the air,” he wrote on Instagram. “We made mind-revolution songs aimed at a one-sided exploitation by a industry. Has nothing to do with families, losing everything they have in a natural disaster. Learn the history. Godspeed to those in loss.”
In the caption, Chuck D wrote, “PRAY 4 LA.”
The California fires have displaced over 130,000 people, including many musicians. “Me and my children’s home is gone,” Jhené Aiko wrote on Instagram. “Burned to the ground with all our things inside. Lord have mercy. Thankful we still have each other. Starting from scratch. My heart is so heavy.” A GoFundMe was launched for DIIV frontman Zachary Cole Smith after his house burned down, while Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis put together a spreadsheet for music industry folks who have been affected by the fires.
The shows are primarily in Asia (including a tour-opening, three-night stint at Seoul’s KSPO Dome), but there is a run of North American tour dates in March and April, with two-show stops in Brooklyn, Chicago, Mexico City, San Antonio, Oakland, and Los Angeles. Ticket information about the US shows has not yet been made available.
Meanwhile, J-Hope also teased new music, seemingly coming in March, with a new teaser video, above.

Steven and Ian begin with a quick Sportscast about their respective favorite NFL teams — the Packers and the Eagles — facing off in the playoffs in the weekend. They also review the (unlikeable) programs left in the College Football Playoffs. From there, they discuss the recent album announcement by Japanese Breakfast and whether they like her new single. They also look at the lineup for this year’s Bonnaroo and whether it confirms Steven’s suspicions about festivals being in a downturn. Then they review the latest release by Ethel Cain, Perverts, and whether it is deliberately aimed at alienating her more pop-minded fans.
In Recommendation Corner, Ian talks about the “Ozark Mountain emo” band Pomfret while Steven recommends the new solo record by Geese singer Cameron Winter.
