Foo Fighters have been rocking consistently since the mid-90s. Over all these years, based on the wide smile Dave Grohl has been sporting a majority of the time, it seems like he has had a lot of wonderful moments with the band. That said, Grohl thinks his favorite one may have actually just happened a few months ago.

The band sat down with EW for an oral history of the band, and when asked about his favorite moment with the group, Grohl answered, “My favorite moment? It changes every year, honestly. Doing SNL with Dave Chappelle a few months ago on the day they called the election, that might be my new one.”

So it turns out, then, that the band’s promo for the episode was actually prophetic. In it, Grohl makes a nod to the then-uncertain result of the presidential election and jokes, “I’m gonna call it right now: best show ever!”

Meanwhile, one of Taylor Hawkins’ favorite Foo Fighters moments is also SNL-related, as he answered, “Playing Wembley with Led Zeppelin was pretty nuts. Paul McCartney coming into the studio and playing drums on a song that I got to sing. And every time I get to play with Roger Taylor or Brian May [of Queen], that’s really special. It’s just all so surreal. Being Mick Jagger’s backing band on Saturday Night Live, too.”

Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods was one of the best movies of 2020, with fantastic performances from Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, and Chadwick Boseman and a searing screenplay from Lee, among others. But it wasn’t nominated for a single Golden Globe. That, in and of itself, isn’t noteworthy, as the Globes are chaos defined (Emily in Paris??? But no I May Destroy You???), but Da 5 Bloods getting snubbed is worth pointing out considering Lee’s kids are this year’s Golden Globes ambassadors.

Awkward.

As the Associated Press reported, “Satchel and Jackson Lee will assume the ambassador roles for the 78th annual Golden Globes Awards… Satchel, 26, and Jackson, 23, are the first siblings of color to hold the position. Jackson is the first Black male ambassador.” Satchel, the creative director for “queer/feminist/intersectional arts and culture magazine” DRØME, said that she is “proud to carry our father’s legacy of storytelling to bring attention to communities close to our hearts,” but it’s still going to be awkward for the kids to hand a trophy to Jared Leto instead of anyone in their dad’s film.

The Golden Globes ignoring Da 5 Bloods shouldn’t hurt its Oscars chances, however. The Netflix drama was named Best Film, Best Director, and Best Ensemble by the National Board of Review; it also appeared on the American Film Institute’s top-10 list for 2020. Neither organization nominated The Prom star James Corden for Best Actor, so they should be taken more seriously than the Globes.

The future of live music remains uncertain, but The Weeknd seems to think that things will be better in 2022: He has announced new tour dates in support of After Hours, which are set for next year.

The North American leg of the tour will start in Vancouver in mid-January before wrapping up in Tacoma, Washington in early May. After a few months off, The Weeknd will then tour Europe in September, October, and November. The majority of the new dates are rescheduled shows, although there are new performances included as well.

This is actually the second time the tour has been rescheduled: It was originally set for 2020, but a couple months into the pandemic, it was pushed back to 2021.

With a month to go until its release, Amazon has dropped a new trailer for Coming 2 America the long-awaited sequel to the 1988 comedy classic starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall. While the first trailer didn’t go big on the plot and, instead, focused on showcasing the two leads reuniting with the original cast, including Murphy and Hall once again playing several side characters, this latest trailer sheds more light on the story in Coming 2 America.

As Murphy’s Prince Akeem returns to New York to locate a son he didn’t know he had, he also reunites with the boy’s mother played by Leslie Jones who brings the comedy right from the jump. Tracey Morgan is also along for the ride as Uncle Reem who tags along when Akeem flies the whole family to his royal palace where he’s dealing with an unhappy family, who are not thrilled about his illegitimate son, and Wesley Snipes‘ General Izzi who’s making it very known that he plans to overthrow Akeem and become the new ruler of Zamunda.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the sequel, Prince Akeem is set to become king of the fictional country of Zamunda when he discovers he has a son he never knew about in America — a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. To honor the former king’s dying wish to groom his grandson as the crown prince, Akeem and Semmi set off to America. Murphy, Arsenio Hall, and James Earl Jones are reprising their roles. Additional cast includes Tracy Morgan and Jay Pharaoh.

Like everyone else, Jimmy Kimmel couldn’t get enough of Mike Lindell’s unhinged interview on Tuesday. The MyPillow CEO was spewing so many baseless conspiracy theories about election fraud that even Newsmax, the Trump-loving “news” network, (legally) had to cut him off. “You know it’s bad when Newsmax is like, dial it down, buddy,” Kimmel joked before getting to the “nuttiest part of the interview,” when one of the anchors simply walked off screen. Then the host offered a conspiracy theory of his own.

“Has anyone ever looked into any kind of correlation between MyPillow and QAnon because maybe there’s something in those pillows that makes people go insane?” Kimmel asked. “Your head’s on it for eight hours every night. The guy who invented them was on crack. Who knows, they might be stuffed with mothballs and thermometer mercury.”

Of course, after Lindell’s interview went viral, he returned to Newsmax for an off-hours segment later that night. He did not bring up Dominion Voting Systems (which threatened to sue the network), but he did rant about how “cancel culture keeps on spreading” and mentioned “a documentary I put together” about the election. A few days ago, Ariana Grande got her fans excited by revealing that she’s dropping a deluxe edition of Positions, which will feature four new tracks. She didn’t say what those songs are or who might be featured on them, which sent fans into speculation mode. One common guess/hope is that SZA will find her way onto one of the tracks, but unfortunately, SZA herself has confirmed she isn’t on the deluxe album.

A Grande fan page on Instagram asked, “SZA in positions deluxe ?! ( track15 ).” SZA herself took to the comments to debunk the rumor, writing, “Lol I wish but nah.” She definitely wants a Grande collaboration, though. In an Instagram Story from yesterday, SZA shared a tweet that reads, “SZA ft. Jhene Aiko is what the world needs right now,” and added, “I agree. Summer Too and kehlani and Ari.”

All the positive energy SZA has been putting out into the world lately seems to line up with the New Year’s resolution she shared at the end of 2020 when she tweeted, “I want better friendships 2021 so imma be a better friend.” Meanwhile, she may also be trying to get a collaboration with Frank Ocean to happen: One fan suggested that she should get Ocean to feature on a “Good Days” remix and she responded, “Imma ask [watery eyes emoji] lol.”

Well, Golden Globes nominations usually drop in December, but all of us know exactly what’s happened to push back life itself. Nonetheless, the 2021 Golden Globes nominations now intend to honor the most deserving TV shows and movies of the past year. This year, though, most of those movies went to streaming, which puts an interesting spin on the struggling movie business, which will hopefully prevail later this year. With that said, Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson announced the nominations this morning, and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association event will be hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey (on separate coasts!). After almost a week filled with film premieres, the 2021 Sundance Film Festival came to a close on Tuesday night by handing out awards for some of the films that were presented during the festival. One of the big winners of Sundance this year was Questlove who took home an award for his Summer Of Soul (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised) documentary, which is about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival. He was given the U.S. Documentary Competition’s Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award and ecstatically reacted on Twitter saying, “OOOOMMMGGGGHGGG WE DID IT.”

In a statement shared by Picthfork, he expressed gratitude for receiving the award. “It has always been a dream of mine to direct films and telling this story has truly been an amazing experience,” he said. “I am overwhelmed and honored by the reception the film is receiving and want to give special thanks to Sundance, and my production partners: Radical Media, Vulcan Productions, Concordia, Play/Action Pictures and LarryBilly Productions.”

Questlove’s Summer Of Soul made its premiere at the festival and is comprised of previously unseen footage that sat in a basement for 50 years. It also flaunts appearances from Stevie Wonder, the Staples Singers, Nina Simone, Sly And The Family Stone, and other notable names.

Morgan Wallen‘s sophomore effort Dangerous: The Double Album recently earned its third consecutive week atop the Billboard album charts. Now, the country singer finds himself in controversy after a video surfaced showing him using a racial slur as he walked home with friends on Sunday night. According to TMZ, the singer and his friends had arrived at Wallen’s home around midnight after spending the night out. Between talking loudly and honking horns, the group was loud enough to disturb their neighbors, causing one to exit their home to record them.

The video captures Wallen telling one of his friends to watch over one of the members of the group. “Take care of this p*ssy ass motherf*cker,” he says in the video before adding, “Take care of this p*ssy ass n*****.” In a statement to TMZ, Wallen apologized for his use of the n-word. “I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back,” he said. “There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”

The incident comes months after he was dropped as the musical guest for an October episode of Saturday Night Live after he attended a maskless party in Alabama. He had to wait nearly two months to finally perform on the show.

Everyone who’s served at one time or another on Trump’s post-election “Elite Strike Force” was, shall we say, a bit eccentric. But none moreso than Lin Wood. All Rudy Giuliani did was rattle off increasingly deranged conspiracy theories and constantly screw up in inventive ways. Lin Wood, however, actually called for Mike Pence’s “execution.” So it’s maybe it’s not even ironic that someone who peddle voter fraud lies is now himself being investigated for potential voter fraud. Perhaps it’s just inevitable.

As per CNN, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger — whom you might remember as one of Trump’s most frequent targets in his futile attempt to overturn the 2020 election — is looking into whether Wood had voted illegally in November’s election. Wood voted in Georgia, but he told a reporter early Tuesday that he’d been “domiciled” up north, in South Carolina, in a property he purchased last April.

That statement caught the eye of investigators, but Wood told CNN that that wasn’t true — that he’d only recently registered in South Carolina, after the election. He then called the actions taken by Raffensperger “pure harassment.” (Previously, Wood had called for Raffensperger to be imprisoned for his role in one of his baseless election conspiracy theories.)

Wood was one of the pro-Trump lawyers who spent much of the last few months filing one failed lawsuit after another, alleging elaborate and increasingly bizarre voter fraud schemes. He also told Georgia that the system was so rigged they’d be better off not voting at all. Shortly thereafter, in the state’s early January runoff, Republicans lost control of the Senate.
