LeBron James Refused To Give A Super Bowl Pick Because He Has Friends On Both Teams

LeBron James is a huge football fan, and can regularly be seen tweeting about his beloved Browns on Sundays and the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturdays. James, who once had a promising football career ahead of him before he (wisely) chose to stick to basketball fulltime, loves the game and isn’t often shy about voicing his opinion on a game.

However, that apparently doesn’t extend to this Sunday’s Super Bowl when it comes to making a prediction for the game, as LeBron, ever the diplomat, laughed off a request from Kevin Harlan (who does lots of NFL games on CBS and on radio) for his pick between the Bucs and the Chiefs after the Lakers comeback win over Denver on Thursday night. James, citing the friends he has on both teams like Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady, declined to make a pick, instead choosing the trusty cop out of “I just want to see a great game.”

Reggie Miller tried his best to goad LeBron into giving an actual pick, but James wasn’t going to be persuaded to betray any of his friends in the game and was proud of his diplomatic response. It’s probably a wise choice, as he now holds the high ground to simply fire off the postgame congratulations tweets to the guys he knows on whichever team wins.

Flo Milli’s Stellar Looks Send A Man To The Hospital In Her ‘Roaring 20s’ Video

Flo Milli is on a hot streak at the moment and it continues with a new visual for “Roaring 20s.” In the new video, the Alabama rapper gets dressed up and puts on a show for a small group of people in attendance. The video flaunts a retro aesthetic, fitting for the roaring ’20s time period that the song is named after. It also provides the ideal backdrop for the 1970s song, “If I Were A Man,” that Flo Mill samples throughout the song.

The rapper’s infectious confidence is on full display in the video and it comes with a few dance moves that she shows off for viewers. By the end of it, she’s made a decent amount of money and grabbed the attention of multiple men in the audience as they are left with bulging heart eyes. Furthermore, a case of one man’s attraction to Flo sends him to the hospital with an awkward injury.

“Roaring 20s” joins a recent string of releases that Flo Milli has been apart of. Prior to the video’s release, she joined Rich The Kid, Mulatto, and Rubi Rose for their “Nasty” collaboration, one that they shared a visual for just a few days later. Both tracks arrived after a breakout 2020 that was lead by the release of her Ho, Why Is You Here? debut, a BET hip-hop cypher, and a group of diverse guest appearances.

Polo G Flaunts His Nonchalant Spirit On The Fearless Single, ‘GNF (OKOKOK)’

After embarking on mainstream success in 2019 with his “Pop Out” single alongside Lil Tjay, Polo G was able to experience critical acclaim in 2020. This came about thanks to his second album, The Goat, which many heralded as a great body of work and a strong step up from his debut. Now it appears like the Chicago rapper is already prepared for the next stage of his career as he returns with his latest single, “GNF (OKOKOK).” The track is a strong display of the young rapper’s nonchalant spirit as the record is backed by fearless lines like “If 12 come up, we gon’ take ’em on the chase / Just a cold heart and a banger on my waist.”

The track also arrives with a Cole Bennett-directed video that sees the Windy City rapper surrounded by his crew as he sends out an array of warnings to the opposition. Polo G’s new single comes hours after the rapper celebrated the purchase of a new house for his mother. Stacia Mac, who is also his manager, took to Instagram to flaunt her new humble abode. “To say I’m appreciative is an understatement. Thank you, son! Thank you for being a man of your word,” she said in her post. “Thank you for giving me things, that at times, I was unable to provide you or myself. I love you and I’m eternally grateful.”

In addition to The Goat, Polo G’s 2020 also saw the release of an NPR Tiny Desk concert, videos for “Martin & Gina,” “21,” and more, and a BET hip-hop cypher.

Freddie Gibbs And Schoolboy Q Hold Their ‘Gang Signs’ Up High On Their New Single

Freddie Gibbs is someone who never lets his foot off the gas pedal. Whether it be his undeniable top-tier raps or the hilarious jokes he makes on social media, the Gary, Indiana rapper is always on go. The latest example of that comes on his new “Gang Signs” single with Schoolboy Q. The track is a smooth effort with a hard-hitting bass that also features the duo in a laid-back state. It also comes with a semi-animated video that portrays the rappers as cartoon characters who embark on a peaceful drive through the city.

The new single comes after a huge year for Freddie Gibbs. He shared his latest project, Alfredo, a ten-track effort laced with amazing production from The Alchemist. The album stood as the fourth joint album of Freddie’s career and his second with The Alchemist following 2018’s Fetti release with Currensy. On a more recent note, Freddie Gibbs shared a freestyle over one of the tracks from Madlib’s new album, Sound Ancestors.

As for Schoolboy Q, fans of the TDE rapper are still waiting for the rapper’s sixth album, one he originally announced shortly after the release of 2019’s Crash Talk. At the time he said the new album would arrive at some point in 2020, but for reasons unknown to fans at the moment, his sixth LP never saw the light of day last year. Hopefully, things will be different in 2021.

JID And Denzel Curry Gift Fans Their Long-Awaited ‘Bruuuh’ Remix

Fans of Denzel Curry and JID are hoping 2021 brings them new music from both rappers. Denzel Curry has been fairly active lately as the Florida native dropped his Unlocked joint album with Kenny Beats in 2020 and his fourth album, Zuu, prior to that in 2019. JID, on the other hand, has been a bit quieter. He delivered a number of guest verses last year that can be found projects like Revenge Of The Dreamers III and Spilligion, but it’s been more than two years since his supporters received an album from him. While it looks like that will change this year, the Atlanta native returns with Denzel for a remix to a track that he released earlier in his career.

Denzel Curry joins JID to add a killer verse to the Dreamville rapper’s track, “Bruuuh.” The original song was released at the top of 2017, weeks before JID’s signing to Dreamville was announced. On the hard-hitting Willie B-produced song, JID speaks about being underrated and unappreciated while desperately seeking success and a better life in order to put his loved ones in a better situation. Denzel hops on the song to solidify his position in the rap world while flying through his verse with slick punchlines and an overall impressive display of his rap talents.

The new remix comes after JID first revealed its existence back in August 2019. In addition to that, he may have also revealed the title to his third album to be The Forever Story, which would be a smooth sequel to his debut album, The Never Story.

British Folk Trio The Staves Released ‘Good Woman,’ Their First Album In Six Years

Plenty of fans of indie folk have been following The Staves since their second album, If I Was, because the record was co-signed and produced by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. That kind of high-profile collaborator is a boon for independent artists, particularly women, who don’t always get the attention they deserve on their own merits. Luckily, the co-sign helped catapult the sisters to bigger stages and now they’re focused on family for a new project that came after a six-year hiatus.

After If I Was came out in 2015, the sisters were touring and working on new music, but all of that came to a halt when their mother unexpectedly died in 2018. This loss contributed to the long gap between albums, as did Camilla Stavely-Taylor’s decision to leave a longterm relationship and return to England. Both of those events, and the grief that comes with them, informed the songwriting and feel of Good Woman.

It’s more experimental and than their last album, which tended toward straightforward melodic folk. There’s electronic pulses and warbles here, more guitars, more percussion. Good Woman still boasts a big name producer in John Congleton, but it’s an album only these sisters could make. Check out the video for the title track above and listen to the entire album below.

Cardi B’s New Single ‘Up’ Is A Swaggering Follow-Up To Her Chart-Topping Hit ‘WAP’

Though she only dropped one song last year, Cardi B still had the kind of huge success of “WAP” that earned her Billboard‘s Woman Of The Year title all while making Republicans more upset than they’ve been about the global pandemic. And it looks like 2021 is going to be even bigger for Cardi, as we’re only a couple weeks into the year and she’s already got a new single for fans.

Though it seemed pretty clear that Cardi had plans for new music last year, most of it got pushed due to the pandemic, and plenty of people are hoping “Up” is the precursor to a whole new album. Of course, when your online presence is as powerful as Cardi – who can start class discussions over a handbag tweet, or pick fights with Peppa Pig — touring isn’t necessarily a requirement to be successful. Still, it’s the rapper’s swaggering presence that commands crowds, whether it’s from a stage or simply from her social media platforms.

Either way, the new single lets fans know that Cardi is officially ready to usher in her new era, and she’s not going to do so quietly. Check out the new video for “Up” above.

The Reddit Board That Sparked GameStop’s Wild Stock Market Ride Is Reportedly Fighting Over The Movie Rights To The Story

The diamond hands that are still holding GameStop stock had a rough Thursday, with the stock tumbling more than 40 percent as the short squeeze that went viral appears to be falling back to Earth. But regardless of what happens to retail stocks like GameStop and AMC moving forward, you’re almost certain to see the Reddit stock market saga in the movies in due time.

Our own Brian Grubb had some ideas about the cast of a Reddit-GameStop film, but those in Hollywood apparently have other ideas for at least one movie that will likely be based on a yet-to-be-written book. It’s all, unsurprisingly, speculative right now. But money is money and there’s certainly some to be made in telling a story that’s captivated millions in recent weeks.

But there’s apparently trouble on the Reddit boards where the short squeeze was engineered. According to the New York Times, moderators on r/WallStreetBets have cast the board into chaos and may have fractured the group’s solidarity that created the stock craze in the first place. And the reason may be, at least in part, over who gets to profit off of the movie rights to the story.

As the Times laid out on Thursday, some of the board’s moderators were apparently talking to a writer who had Hollywood ties and seemed to be writing a book, and maybe eventually a script, about the stock craze.

One moderator said he was in touch with Ben Mezrich, an author of the book that became the movie “The Social Network,” who last week secured deals to write a book and help with a movie about the GameStop saga, according to screenshots from the forum shared with The Times.

“Oof we gotta go fast i think,” another moderator wrote back. “While the studios are competing.”

But word of those discussions made many in the group wonder who exactly had the rights to the story, and who gets to cash in on the story behind the stock that’s caused market chaos. The board’s creator, a man named Jamie Rogozinski, lost control of r/WallStreetBets in 2020 and still tried to secure movie rights despite his lack of involvement in moderation in recent months.

“We suddenly find out these formerly inactive moderators are trying to *literally* sell the story of how they built the subreddit and undermine us,” zjz wrote in an email to The Times.

In a post to WallStreetBets on Wednesday night, which was quickly removed, zjz also wrote: “We’ve been taken hostage by the top mods. They left for years and came back when they smelled money.”

That led to escalating recriminations and insults that soon went beyond a movie deal. Some began criticizing the top moderators for moves they had made to raise their profile, like creating a Twitter account and hiring a public relations representative. Some also made death threats.

It’s yet another wild wrinkle to a chaotic story that does have a pretty interesting, and unanswered, question about ownership of a story that’s quite literally taken millions of investors to make happen. And while the board fights over this, they could very well lose their market position because solidarity was so important in their movement and activities.

The whole report has a lot of details about the parties involved and what’s likely to happen when it comes to the film rights to the saga. And what seems likely is there ends up being more than one movie version of the tale in the first place, but also that the battle to see who profits off the saga on the silver screen becomes part of the story we end up seeing at theaters, too.

Lucky Daye And Tiana Major9 Are Lovebirds On Different Pages For Their ‘On Read’ Track

Lucky Daye earned his breakout moment in 2019 thanks to the release of his debut album, Painted. The Keep Cool signee wowed fans with his impressive versatility on the album, which many of his fans have labeled to have “no skips.” If that wasn’t enough, his debut also earned him a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album in 2020. While that’s plenty to celebrate early in his career, it’s all in the past and now the New Orleans singer is ready to begin his next chapter, one that begins with his new single, “On Read.”

The new track features a lovely contribution from East Londoner Tiana Major9. For those unfamiliar with the name, the singer rose to prominence with her “Collide” single alongside EarthGang and shared a great project last year with At Sixes And Sevens. As for “On Read,” the song finds the two singers on opposite sides of the communication spectrum in the world of text messaging. Lucky struggles to attain commitment in his life as he continues to seek the response of his love interest while Tiana uses her verse to justify her choice to not engage with an undeserving individual through text.

“On Read” is the first single from Lucky’s upcoming EP, Table For Two. The EP comes equipped with six songs, all of which are duets featuring female singers. Getting help from Ari Lennox, Queen Naija, Joyce Wrice, YEBBA, and Mahalia in addition to Tiana Major9, fans can expect to get their hands on Table For Two on February 12.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Was Stripped Of Her House Committee Seats By Congress And People On Twitter Reacted

Marjorie Taylor Greene tried very hard to distance herself from her racist, anti-Semitic and violent rhetoric and conspiracy theories in recent days, but that did little to stop a vote against her in the US House of Representatives on Thursday.

After debating whether to exile her from congressional committees, the House voted, 230-199, to strike the representative from Georgia after what felt like an endless stream of wild conspiracy theories surfaced in the wake of her unwavering support for Donald Trump, even after an unsuccessful coup attempt carried out in part by people who believe the same baseless QAnon conspiracy she’s supported.

As the New York Times reported, Greene is still very much a member of congress, but one effectively stripped of most duties beyond voting when the rest of the House does.

The vote effectively stripped Ms. Greene of her influence in Congress by banishing her from committees critical to advancing legislation and conducting oversight. Party leaders traditionally control the membership of the panels. While Democrats and Republicans have occasionally moved to punish their own members by stripping them of assignments, the majority has never in modern times moved to do so to a lawmaker in the other party.

As the story explains, this kind of punishment is usually carried out by a member’s own party. And Republicans did exactly that in 2018 when another representative said something offensive. But the party refused to condemn Greene, and many stood by her on Thursday.

In a speech she made before the vote, Greene attempted to undo her conspiracy theory advocacy by saying, in part, that the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 “absolutely happened” and that school shootings were “absolutely real” after she had suggested that parts of both were staged. Videos of her stalking school shooting victims were given new attention in recent days, as did a number of her other posts on social media that have made her a star on the fringe of the right wing. Which is why there were plenty of people celebrating the decision on Twitter on Thursday, including other representatives.

There were also some stunning moments during the debate, including the reminder that Greene’s campaign once included her holding a rifle in imagery that targeted Democratic members of The Squad.

Which is why Cori Bush’s speech against Greene drew particular praise on Thursday.

And despite the news that Greene saw consequences for her past comments, many reminded others that Greene is still in power. And also pointed out that her apology of sorts willfully forgets she was touting wild conspiracies as recently as days ago.
