Post Malone Got A Tattoo At His Dentist’s Office

Post Malone’s ever growing collection of tattoos is impressive and attention-grabbing, but there comes a point where getting new ink just isn’t as exciting as it used to be. Every piece deserves a story, so apparently, Post wanted to make sure his latest one had one of the more interesting stories he could manage — the tale of that time he got inked during a dentist appointment.

That’s right, while visiting his dentist in Beverly Hills, Post also got inked on his calf. Both the dentist’s office and the tattoo artist posted photos of the moment, which depicted Post as all-smiles while dressed in what looks like a knee-length T-shirt as the artist, Ganga, shaves Post’s leg in preparation while his dentist, Dr. Thomas Connelly, looks on in amusement, holding up a phone for a FaceTime call.

While the photos don’t reveal exactly what Post got inked on his leg, it’s sure to be a session no one involved will forget. The posts also forego info on just what kind of procedure was done on his teeth, but that’d be a HIPAA violation anyway. Post’s got plenty of reasons to smile these days anyway: His 2019 album Hollywood Bleeding is still hanging around the Billboard 200 top ten, his single from the album, “Circles,” has spent a longer time in the Hot 100 top ten than any song ever, and his various business endeavors seem lined up to be just as successful as his music, including a rosé brand and a face mask company.

Check out photos of Post getting a new tattoo above.

Victoria Monet Is Polished, Provocative, And Worth Paying Attention To On ‘Jaguar’

The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow, and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.

Practice makes perfect — or, at least as close as possible. It’s a saying drilled into our minds from the earliest moments of our lives and resides with us through the gray-haired finale. It’s also a saying that explains the success of songwriters-turned-artists at any point in music history. People like Bruno Mars, Lucky Daye, Ne-Yo, Lady Gaga, and Kacey Musgraves all struck gold as songwriters long before the general public knew their names, but the undeniable success in their respective careers can be credited to the practice they put forth before receiving their turn in the spotlight. It’s this same practice that is rooted in the polished quality of Victoria Monet and her latest effort, Jaguar.

Monet has lived between the lines, quite literally, of some of our favorite songs over the past few years. Chloe X Halle’s “Do It” and Ariana Grande’sThank U, Next” and “7 Rings” have each been graced with Monet’s pen. Granting multiple artists moments of their own, thanks to her help, Monet’s spotlight began to grow with the release of her late 2019 single, “Ass Like That.” The track boasts a provocative bounce that moves in sync with her hips as she walks through a crowd and leaves them in awe of her dollar sign-like figure. “He wanna know how she get that ass like that,” she croons on the song’s hook. The answer the unnamed gentleman seeks doesn’t come from a place of doubt or a desire to demean her, but rather, it’s rooted in their appreciation and awe for the bodily improvements she now flaunts as eye candy, and deservingly so.

Jaguar roars with a boldness similar to that exhibited on “Ass Like That.” Its nine songs present Monet in the driver’s seat at all times, progressing with sharp turns and a pedal to the floor, which creates an overall thrilling experience that — despite the increased heart rate and shortened breath that comes with it — swiftly calls for a second round. Built as the first edition in a three-part series, this hair-raising experience is detailed on “Moment,” as Monet balances a sultry invitation with a dominating command singing, “Life is but a dream that you manifested slowly / So f*ck a fantasy, this your motherf*ckin’ moment.” The moment she teases is one surely anyone will succumb to, but it’s the uncertainty it entails that draws them in most.

The highlight of Jaguar arrives at its closing moments. Cruising with ease, Monet once again steers towards the desired destination of her current relationship on “Go There With You.” Fearful of the relationship’s impending demise, Monet attempts to avoid the eventual fall with a call for improvement. “Let’s put them arguments on layaway,” she requests. “All I wanna do is lay away / I’m tryna get laid today.” Closing the album with an indirect response to an unknown — but fairly obvious — lover, “Touch Me” is an enticing call to action as Monet lays in the comfort of her own home and beckons for the return of an old flame. “You so good with your hands like a player with the ball,” she says. “So next time you use your touch screen / You know who you should call, baby.” Though she may have hated the club, Monet ensures her female partner that her company is always welcome.

Victoria Monet is the epitome of a go-getter. The Sacramento native is bold in her approach to all things in her life. Proudly accepting the dominating role in her various relationships, Monet either takes command and wills her way to desired endpoints or opens the door for her respective partners to find what she knows they desire: Monet herself. On Jaguar, she does a similar thing for her listeners, presenting herself in an extremely polished and provocative light. With a sharp-as-ever pen and a sound that has been tweaked to accentuate her artistry, the body of work far exceeds her previous releases. Jaguar is the manifestation of determination, leaving room to inspire fans with a much-needed confidence boost.

Jaguar is out now via Tribe Records. Get it here.

Report: The Big Ten Will Not Play Football This Fall, But Could Play A Spring Season

The college football season should be beginning in a few weeks, but there is steady progress towards at minimum postponing the fall season until the spring happening across the country. After the MAC announced its decision over the weekend to cancel its fall season with an eye towards spring football, the Big Ten, Pac-12, and others all seemed to move much closer to the same result.

On Monday, word emerged that Big Ten presidents had voted 12-2 to cancel the fall season as well, becoming the first Power Five conference to call off the season, per a report from the Detroit Free Press among others. The Pac-12 is expected to follow suit, although they have not had a formal vote yet, while the Big 12, SEC, and ACC seem to want to press forward — or, at minimum, kick the can a bit further down the road.

The two dissenting votes came from Iowa and Nebraska, who clearly weren’t able to rally much support to their side as all of the power schools in the conference reached the same conclusion: a fall season simply isn’t tenable. According to the Free Press, Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren “prefers” playing a spring season, but to this point no firm decision has been made about that.

A spring season would allow schools to recoup some of the financial losses of a canceled fall season — and, possibly, make more than they would in a fanless fall season should a vaccine be readily available that would allow fans in the stands for spring football. There are obvious downsides to spring football, such as top players not playing if the NFL is unwilling to budge on their draft date, but one would think not playing at all would be worse.

Complicating matters is the budding players union movement taking place in college football, as Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, and many others from all five major conferences announced their “We Want To Play” initiative late Sunday night. In it, they call for uniform health and safety protocols across the Power Five, along with being allowed to have representation (which is crucial given the waivers and such players are being asked to sign), as well as starting a players union for all P5 college football players.

College football’s powers that be will buck back at the idea of a CFB union, and may be willing to cancel an entire season to eat those losses if it means killing the unionization movement in the process — because that inevitably leads to players being paid and the recognition of them as employees.

Someone Put Viola Davis In The ‘WAP’ Video, And Cardi And Meg Both Love It

Cardi B’s video for “WAP” has become an NSFW sensation, with fans sharing, debating, and meme-ing their favorite parts. There’s even a petition to have Kylie Jenner removed from the video and replaced with a different star, with fans suggesting everyone from Saweetie to Betty White. One suggestion took on a life of its own, as an edited screenshot of from video turned Kylie Jenner into Viola Davis, prompting fans to run wild with the new theme: “How To Get Away With WAP.”

Naturally, the silly idea took hold and went viral, but along the way, it earned one unexpected fan: Viola Davis herself, who jovially wondered, “Who did this?” When fans took it a step further, playing off the video’s built-in mystery element — Cardi and Meg wandering the halls of a surrealist mansion, peeking behind doors to find cameos from Normani, Rosalía, Rubi Rose, and Sukihana — Davis loved it even more. The clip is edited to make it appear as if one of the doors reveals a drunken Annalise Keating from How To Get Away With Murder dancing alone in a room. Not only does it fit the theme of the original video, but Davis’ inebriated two-step is surprisingly well-time to the song itself.

Of course, it didn’t take long for Cardi herself to see the tweets, adding her own commentary: “I’m so fan out right now ya don’t even know,” she gushed. Meg couldn’t even put her hilarity into words, electing to go with a string of crying laughing emoji as her response.

With even US Congressmen weighing in on the song, it looks like Cardi B is once again the star of the moment in hip-hop and well on her way to yet another No.1 single to add to her ever growing collection.

Record Store Day Organizers Further Detail How The Altered 2020 Event Will Work

The ongoing pandemic has messed with the plans for this year’s Record Store Day, but organizers are pressing on. They’re doing things differently this year, though. Instead of one day, they will host three “RSD Drops,” on August 29, September 26, and October 24. Now, they have provided more details about how these events will work on local levels.

The Record Store Day UK site published a blog post detailing how customers can learn how their preferred stores will be operating, noting:

“Music fans are encouraged to use the Record Store Day store locator from the 14th August to find out how their shop plans to open. This will range from offering bookable time slots 1 week in advance on a first come first served basis and/ or operating socially distanced queues. For those customers who do not wish to visit in-store, for one year only, Record Store Day will relax online sales so that product can be made available on participating shop websites or over the phone from 6pm on the evening of each Drop.”

The US site is set up slightly differently, but it’s very similar. That site has a page that reads, “In-store shopping? Curbside pickup? Local delivery? What’s up with your local record store? Things are fluid, and we’ll update this as often as possible. Find your store and then click on the name for more detailed information from that store.” Below that text is a giant table of record stores, sorted by state, that notes what accommodations they will or will not be making — like curbside pickup, local delivery, appointment shopping, and more — and includes a direct link to an individual page for each store.

Record Store Day also has a complete list of what releases will be available during its “drops,” so find that here.

James Gandolfini’s Love Of Green Day’s ‘Dookie’ Continues To Be The Most Delightful Story

Last week, we were delighted to learn that James Gandolfini was a huge fan of Dookie, Green Day’s 1994 breakout album that has sold over 20 million copies worldwide, including one copy to The Sopranos star on vinyl. He would play the album in his trailer, but as co-star and Talking Sopranos host Michael Imperioli explained in a follow-up interview with Stereogum, that was only the tip of Gandolfini’s love of “Basket Case.”

“Gandolfini would also sing ‘Basket Case’ and make up his own lyrics about HBO and the writers and producers of The Sopranos,” Imperioli said. “Usually when he was feeling overworked and overexposed, and his lyrics would reflect that. Some of the more musical crew members would add a verse or two. Great fun.” The actor later added, “He also named his dog dookie and used it in his email address.” So in case you were wondering who [email protected] belongs to, there’s your answer.

It’s a lot of fun to imagine Gandolfini coming up with The Sopranos-specific parodies of “Basket Case.” Here’s one: “I went to a shrink / To analyze my dreams / Melfi says it’s my ma that’s bringing me down.” Feel free to come up with your own.

And as always: [Tony Soprano voice] “Dookie.”

What We Learned From Week Two In The WNBA

Every team has now played seven games of their 22-game regular season schedule, which means that we are starting to get a grip on which teams are real contenders and which have some more work to do. The Seattle Storm sit at the top of the league standings, buoyed by the performances of Breanna Stewart and company in Sue Bird’s absence. Somewhat surprisingly, the Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky round out the top three teams so far while the Connecticut Sun are still at the back of the pack with a 1-6 record.
Here’s what we learned from all the action in week two in the WNBA.

1. There are no more winless teams in the Wubble!

The Connecticut Sun and New York Liberty each finally nabbed their first win of the season this week, defeating the Dallas Wings and Washington Mystics, respectively. Against the young Dallas team, members of the Sun not named DeWanna Bonner or Alyssa Thomas finally showed that they could contribute points. Four of the starters finished with double-digit scoring totals, and sophomore guard Natisha Hiedeman impressed after starting for the second straight game, scoring a career-high 14 points on 5-9 shooting, as well as earning two rebounds and four assists.

The Liberty were clearly not happy with ESPN’s (understandable) decision to take their games off national TV, because they put on a show Friday night, defeating the defending champions. Shots finally started falling for the Liberty after struggling on offense earlier in the season and veterans Amanda Zahui B. and Layshia Clarendon led the way for their team. After the game, it was really sweet to see how much the win meant to the team in their post-game celebrations with first-year head coach Walt Hopkins.

Unfortunately, both teams followed up their wins with a loss to the Chicago Sky and Las Vegas Aces, respectively.

2. The ROY race is heating up

If you happened to be scrolling through Twitter on Thursday night, then you just might have noticed the plethora of Chennedy Carter content that made the rounds as the rookie stole the show in the Dream’s narrow loss to Seattle. The 21-year-old point guard scored a career-high 35 points on 17 shots while earning seven assists and two rebounds. Carter, a.k.a “Hollywood,” is taking her role as Atlanta’s floor leader in stride, and is already in the record books after becoming the youngest player in WNBA history to score 30+ points in a game.

Dallas big Satou Sabally is another young gun that has looked at home in her first season, averaging 11.6 points, two assists and 6.3 rebounds per game compared with Carter’s 19.4 points, 4.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds per contest. But if you thought this year’s ROY race was a two-horse contest following Sabrina Ionescu’s injury, you’d be wrong.

The Lynx have sort of flown under the radar this season, but guard Crystal Dangerfield has had some strong performances and should definitely be in the mix. The 16th overall pick is averaging 9.8 points, 2.7 assists and two rebounds and is surely making some teams regret passing on her in the first round of the 2020 WNBA Draft when she makes plays like this mind boggling maze of a run through the Sparks’ tight defense.

3. Aces-Sparks was a very fun Western Conference match-up

Friday’s match-up between the Las Vegas and Los Angeles Sparks was a very fun, early look at two Western Conference teams with title aspirations. Though the Aces are missing key players in Liz Cambage and Kelsey Plum this year, A’ja Wilson and Angel McCoughtry have had some key performances, with the former looking like a very real candidate for MVP. Against the Sparks, Wilson and McCoughtry combined for 50 points in a 86-82 victory which also saw sophomore guard Jackie Young put up 15 points, four assists and three rebounds. In Sunday’s tight win against the Liberty, Wilson was crucial in crunchtime and went off for 31 points on 10-of-17 shooting along with three blocks, five rebounds and two assists.

For the Sparks, Candace Parker and Seimone Augustus have been unreal. Parker has put up a double-double in each of her last five games, finishing one assist shy of a triple-double in Sunday’s win over the Lynx, while the 36-year-old Augustus had 13 points off the bench on Sunday. With the likes of Parker, Augustus, Nneka Ogwumike, Sydney Wiese, Chelsea Gray, Te’a Cooper and more, L.A. looks poised for a title run this year, but still needs to find some more consistency.

The WNBA’s playoff format means that the top eight teams — regardless of conference — qualify for the playoffs, which last four rounds. So, depending on how things go this season, we could have a WNBA Finals matchup between two Western Conference teams. While the Aces have looked good so far, my money’s on a Sparks vs. Storm star-studded showdown, which would be epic.

4. The Phoenix Mercury don’t look like title contenders

The Phoenix Mercury came into this season with a lot of hype surrounding their three formidable stars, Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and Skylar Diggins-Smith. But two weeks in, they don’t look like title contenders. Thankfully, Taurasi’s recent back injury does not appear to be related to her 2019 one that required surgery, but it does underscore Phoenix’s biggest problem: a lack of depth on offense. The Mercury are currently sixth in the standings with a 4-3 overall record, and have struggled to create in all of their seven games so far. Don’t let Saturday’s relatively close final score fool you — Phoenix was outscored by Seattle by 20 points in the first three quarters of the 74-68 loss. This season, they are attempting a mere 66.3 shots per game, the second-lowest in the league.

Shatori Kimbrough-Walker and Bria Hartley have performed brightly at times this season, but Hartley is now sidelined with a sore Achilles tendon. The team is overly reliant on Taurasi to create opportunities for them, and with her out for the foreseeable future they need to adjust before they fall out of contention.

5. Injuries are beginning to be a problem for teams

Speaking of injuries to Taurasi and Hartley, we are really seeing this season’s condensed schedule take a toll on the players. Rookie sensation Sabrina Ionescu went down with a grade three ankle sprain on July 31 and is expected to miss at least a month of action after flying back to New York for treatment. Fellow guard Kia Nurse also suffered an ankle sprain during the team’s opening game against the Dallas Wings, but seems to have recovered. For the Sparks, Nneka Ogwumike missed some time due to a hamstring injury, but was able to suit up in Sunday’s win over the Lynx.

The injury bug has impacted Indiana in a major way, with Victoria Vivians, Teira McCowan, Kathleen Doyle, Natalie Achonwa and even assistant coach April Schillings all out at one point. And we have already begun to see some load management take place for the Storm, with Sue Bird sitting the past four games after suffering a bone bruise in her knee. While Seattle can make up for Bird’s absence with the likes of Breanna Stewart, Jordin Canada and Jewell Lloyd, not every team can afford not playing their franchise player.

Netflix Blasts Off For Mars With Hilary Swank In The ‘Away’ Trailer

Netflix continues to drop closets full of content upon us, and they’re aiming (as one does) for the stars with Away, a Hilary Swank-starring series about space travel. The Oscar winner’s playing an astronaut traveling to Mars, and this series promises to be epic, but the trailer appears to be focusing more on the emotional. Still, heading to Mars seems like a grand vacation right about now to most of us on Earth, so maybe this show will strike a chord.

Here’s more on Swank’s character:

Emma Green is an American astronaut and former Navy pilot. She is the commander of the first mission to Mars. She is a headstrong, empathetic and highly intelligent astronaut and leader. She is married to Matt Logan, a chief engineer at NASA. Emma and Matt have a 15-year-old daughter, Lex,

Personal sacrifices will abound for Emma while her family will also feel the effects of her extended voyage, but c’mon, presumably, this trip is worth it. It’s not every day that mom gets to go to Mars, and nowhere in Netflix’s promotional material does Elon Musk’s name appear, so that’s something. And to be fair, his name (and presence) are all up in that Tom Cruise space production, so this one’s up to the Oscar-winning Swank to pull off with assists from Josh Charles and Talitha Bateman, who portray her family.

Away will stream on September 4.

The Buffalo Wild Wings Whiskey Might Actually Be A ‘Must Buy’ Bottle

Finding a special bottle of bourbon has never been easier. There are scores of refined, fascinating expressions on the market these days. We’re talking about “value” bottles, affordable bottles, indie bottles, splurges… we could go on. The category is expanding rapidly in multiple directions. Now it seems that the “brand collab” era of bourbon might be upon us — with a crossover bottle that almost sounds like a terrible idea but might actually be a little genius.

Buffalo Wild Wings (where they make some very solid chicken) has teamed up with Buffalo Trace Distillery (where they make superb bourbons) for a special release of Single Barrel Select Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

“This special batch of bourbon is rich and complex yet smooth and balanced in taste,” explains Buffalo Trace’s head distiller Harlan Wheatley in a short video. “Enjoy some the next time you visit Buffalo Wild Wings.”

The juice from in the bottle is a special bottling from single barrels hand-picked by Wheatley himself, who’s been winning awards for his whiskey prowess at Buffalo Trace for over two decades. And according to Forbes, the bottle will carry “an age statement of eight years” — a very solid level of aging for a bottle sold at a chain restaurant.

The roll-out — which is being called Buffalo Wild Wings Trace — is very limited. Only those lucky enough to live near a BWW in Florida, Georgia, Colorado, Nevada, and California will be able to snag a bottle (or a dram or two at the bar) until supplies run out. After that, don’t be surprised if you see bottles show up on the secondary market with a sizeable price increase.

Wings lovers and bourbon aficionados are both famously passionate fanbases, after all.
