Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash has become Chicago’s biggest hip-hop-oriented music festival. With this year’s fest headlined by Travis Scott (billed as Cactus Jack, suggesting a few friends joining him onstage), Playboi Carti, and Chief Keef, not only are some of the biggest names in hip-hop represented, but one of Chicago’s favorite sons gets to put on a show for his hometown for the first time in ten years. Keef’s legal troubles kept him from being able to perform in the Windy City, but he recently resolved them, allowing him to make his homecoming (you can read more about it here).
Below, you can find the set times for this weekend’s festival, which runs from today, June 14, to Sunday, June 16, at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. So far, only the set times for today, Friday, June 14, have been revealed by Lyrical Lemonade, but this post will be updated as the set times for Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, are announced. One of the best reviewed movies of 2024, director Jane Schoenbrun’s A24 coming-of-age film about two outcasts (played by Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine) who bond over a cult show is now available on digital. You can buy or rent I Saw The TV Glow on Amazon, YouTube, Kaleidescape, and many more platforms. There’s no streaming debut date yet.
Even if you’ve seen the film (which also has a killer soundtrack), there’s incentive to watch it again. “now that it’s out digitally can’t wait for ppl to find the biggest TV GLOW easter egg that hasn’t been discovered yet. As the tagline says, look a little closer,” Schoenbrun tweeted.

Teenager Owen is just trying to make it through life in the suburbs when his classmate introduces him to a mysterious late-night TV show — a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. In the pale glow of the television, Owen’s view of reality begins to crack.
I Saw The TV Glow also stars Ian Foreman, Helena Howard, Fred Durst (yes, that Fred Durst), Danielle Deadwyler, Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Amber Benson, and Michael C. Maronna and Danny Tamberelli from Nick favorite The Adventures of Pete & Pete. You can watch the trailer below.
Seriously, though, if you need proof that Gen X is fabulous, look no further than our playlists. The generation born between the mid-60s and the early 80s might just have the most varied and eclectic of all musical tastes. Our hippie/classic rocker parents passed down their 60s and 70s tunes, then we got the 80s in all its power ballad glory, then a brief 50s music revival during the 80s, then the rise of hip-hop, rap and grunge in the 90s.
A Gen X mom shared a video demonstrating the wide range of music she listens to ,and it’s 100% familiar to those of us in our 40s and 50s.
As Word up with Jen points out, Gen X was “born in the 70s, raised in the 80s and partied in the 90s,” cementing every decade’s jams in our memory, from Anne Murray to Snoop Dog. Watch:
Ya never know what you’re gonna get 🤷♀️ #genx #70sbaby #raisedinthe80s #partiedinthe90s #carjams
The comments confirm that Gen X really does have the bead on everyone’s beats.
“I’m glad I’m not the only polyjamorous gen x out there.”
“So I’m not the only one with a playlist that looks like it belongs to some with multiple personalities? This is a relief.”
“Gen X is the only generation that covered so many genres of music AND decades of music. Don’t give me the aux unless ur ready for a lesson in music.”
“SO true!! You may get Metallica, you may get NWA, you may get Donny Osmond, you may get Duran Duran…who knows? 😂👏”
“I can relate 100%! It’s not just one genre or decade. If you knew songs by NWA, Dre, Snoop, you also knew country songs by Shania, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and metal songs from Metallica to Pantera and so on. Even if you had a specific genre of music like me (90’s hip hop/rap/pop) you also knew Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns n Roses by the very first riff and rocked the hell out of it lol. Love Gen X life!”
“I think Gen X hit the jackpot culturally. Signed, a Millennial.”
Naturally, every individual has their own musical tastes, and people from other generations can certainly appreciate different music genres. But Gen X really has had the biggest exposure to a mix of musical styles during our formative. years. Our ingrained musical knowledge would make us excellent “Humm…ble” competitors, and we can sing along with pretty much anything pre-Y2K. (Some of us got Mom Brain in the 2000s that ruined us for memorizing lyrics to newer songs, but we can sing “Hotel California,” “Sister Christian” and “Baby Got Back” in our sleep.)
The funniest thing about this is that the younger generations only know “playlists” as digital collections. Never will they know the hours of work that went into creating the “playlist” known as the mixed tape. Especially a mixed tape from the radio, where you curse the DJ for talking through the entire intro of the song. Even making mixed CDs took a lot of effort compared to few clicks it takes today to piece together a playlist.
Gen X may have its issues—all that angst didn’t come out of nowhere—but when it comes to music, we are the unbeatable generation.
In a revealing interview with Steven Bartlett on his “Dairy of a CEO” podcast, former Secret Service Special Agent Evy Poumpouras shared how to get people to do what you want them to do.
The key, according to Poumpouras, is to understand what motivates them. Once you know the psychological framework behind what makes them tick, you can persuade them to behave as you like.
Poumpouras is the co-host of Bravo TV’s “Spy Games” competition series and author of “Becoming Bulletproof: Protect Yourself, Read People, Influence Situations, Live Fearlessly.” She served in the Secret Service’s Presidential Protective Division for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and protected George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush.
Poumpouras says that to get a “good read” on someone, it’s essential to listen.

The biggest mistake people make is they talk a lot,” Poumpouras said in the video clip. “Steven, if I’m doing all the talking and you’re doing all the listening, you’re learning everything about me. You’re learning about what I care about, my values, my belief systems, getting a good read on me and I’m learning nothing about you.”
The former Secret Service Agent says that you should listen to determine the subject’s motivational mindset. Are they motivated by money, sex, admiration, status, freedom, relationships, or safety?
“Everybody’s motivated by something different. But I have to hear you and pay attention to you to understand what that is. Everybody’s purpose is different,” she continued. “If you give people enough space, they will reveal themselves to you.”
It’s also a wonderful tactic because your subject will have no idea they are part of a manipulation because they are the ones doing the talking. It’s nearly impossible to give yourself away when you’re sitting in silence.
Understanding what motivates people is essential when protecting the safety of the nation’s most important assets and dealing with shady, dangerous people. However, it can also benefit the layperson by giving us a framework to understand people better. Knowing what motivates someone is very important, whether you’re on a date, in a business deal, or in a leadership role at work.
Understanding your personal motivators is also essential for making the best choices in life. It helps us determine which actions will be genuinely beneficial. It’s also a great way to ensure that we are involved with people, organizations, and activities for the right reasons.
Productivity consultant Ashley Janssen says the key to understanding your motives is knowing your values.
“When you know what you value, you can identify how an activity or goal will support and foster those values,” Janssen writes. “When you decide to try something, consider whether it’s what you think you should want to do or what someone else has said you should do. Those conditions are often not enough to sustain a behavior or activity. It’s hard to keep moving forward on something that you don’t really care about or are not invested in.”
Even for those who love the thrill of making vacation itineraries…it’s work. And obviously when the planning has to be done for an entire family, there’s even more effort needed to be put in. Imagine going through all the rigamarole of booking flights, hotels, rental cars, restaurant reservations, entertainment venues, last minute store runs for toiletries…without getting so much as a “thank you.”
Odds are you’d be a little miffed, even if planning is your thing.
This was the scenario that a mom Alexis Scott found herself in after planning a summer vacation for her husband and two teen children. Thankfully, the now-viral TikTok post venting her frustrations inspired several folks to give her some much deserved support.
In the video, Scott began, “I’m on a family vacation right now with my two teenagers and my husband. We flew in late last night. We think we got in at like 12:15 a.m. and headed to get a rental car and then got to our Airbnb. And I am frustrated.”
Scott had tried and tried to get any input from her family about what they might want to do, and each time got the same reply: “‘Whatever you want, mom. I don’t care. Okay. I don’t care.’”
“Great. Glad I’m planning this vacation for everybody to not care,” Scott lamented.
Still, she did the planning—cause someone had to do it. But as soon as the vacation started, all her decisions were met with complaints. From being called “cheap” for getting too small of an SUV rental car to being told “Mom is never going to be in charge of booking the Airbnb again. She can’t even this, that and the other,’” after the family found out their AirBnb was three stories with quite a few stairs.
“Then this morning, we wake up and it’s an urban setting. We live in a very quiet suburban setting and my husband’s saying how he barely slept and this and that. And I’m just like, enough!” she said.
All of this happened within the first 24 hours of the trip. It’s easy to see why Scott needed to vent.
Her video concluded with:
I have been the only one to put in all the effort in planning this trip. And I know there’s videos on mental load, but this is prime time example of me. I’m shouldering the mental load for my entire family and everybody has something to say about it. So, yeah, I’m frustrated. Please pray for me that we can all turn our attitudes around and have a great day.”
Down in the comments, viewers could totally empathize with Scott for feeling burnt out and disappointed.
“Oh gosh the mental load of planning every detail and then knowing is something goes wrong or isn’t’ perfect it’s all on you. Been there,” one person shared.
Another added, “I tell my husband that I haven’t been on vacation since I was a child and he’s alway confused bc to him, ‘we’ go on vacation every year. Only other moms would understand what I mean.”
Many suggested that she do something for herself instead.
“Just Irish goodbye one morning, go to brunch alone, hit the spa or a pool and come home after dinner,” one person wrote.
“Go and do whatever you want to do!! Spa day sounds perfect and take yourself out for fabulous meals!!” echoed another.
On a positive note: this story does have a happy ending. In a follow-up video, Scott shared how she showed her family the TikTok video she made, and it did turn things around.
“We have actually had a really, really great day today,” she said. “Everyone has had positive attitudes. I’ve heard a lot of thank yous and my kids have been buying their little side purchases with their own money and not even asking me to pay for it… but they have been really self-sufficient in that space.”
All in all, Scott recognizes that her family is “human,” and a big part of being human is apologizing when a mistake is made and moving forward.
“We love each other. This was a learning experience.”
By the way, Scott’s entire TikTok is dedicated to relatable mom content. You can follow along here.
Taylor Swift and her team just about always have something cooking to keep fans busy and entertained. The latest such effort was unveiled today (June 14): The Tortured Poets Department ID.
The IDs have taken over social media (#TSTTPDID is the No. 1 trending topic on X/Twitter as of this post), and they’re a fun way for Swifties to show off their love of all things Swift and Tortured Poets.
How To Get A Taylor Swift The Tortured Poets Department ID
First, visit the ID website that has been set up for the occasion. Then, log in with your Spotify account information. From there, the site analyzes your Spotify listening history and spits out a custom ID.
To use myself as an example, the site told me, “Based on your listening history, we think you’d make a great Wiseman of the Tortured Poets Department.” Other users have reported being assigned roles like “A Real Tough Kid,” “Fearless Leader,” and “Good Neighbor,” among others.
The resulting card includes your Spotify name, your role, and the current date. You don’t get an actual physical card through this process, but you can download an image file of it and do with that what you please.
Streaming used to be fun. You’d pick a silly movie to watch while you are doing laundry, and there wasn’t that pressure to keep up with everything in real time. Now, you log onto Netflix, and suddenly you are reminded that you have 5 episodes of Bridgerton to watch in addition to Under Paris, plus the entire season of The Bear you will need to check out on Hulu at the end of the month. It’s…a lot.
But many people have been trading the consuming (and expensive) worlds of Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ for the carefree, calmer life at Tubi. In fact, people might prefer it.
According to Nielsen data (reported by The L.A. Times), May 2024 was Tubi’s most-watched month ever with an average of 1 million viewers, up 46% from last year. This narrowly beats Disney+’s 969,000 viewers from last month and easily beats Max, Paramount+ and Peacock. Currently, YouTube is the only free ad-supported streaming platform that surpasses Tubi.
Why Tubi? It’s quite simple: it’s free! Not only that, but there are hundreds of thousands of titles consisting of both long-lost shows and fan-favorites.
Bad news for streaming platforms and an indication on the cost of living as Tubi is one of the few movie and tv platforms where you can watch content for free. https://t.co/OzBBJvZNjk
Tubi is the one streaming service that makes sense to me – a place to collect movies that have had their run in theaters, on disc, on ppv, having a last home where they can stay. Using this same model for first run things is where the disaster is. https://t.co/3C5ApAm4zK
People joke and poke fun at Tubi for being the “poor man’s streaming service”, but they do have some genuinely cool stuff and there. https://t.co/zwgICaMk80

I say it all the time: Tubi is for the folks who were raised watching and loving Whatever Movie Is On TV every weekend. People of taste! pic.twitter.com/yHjSAcKehu
Tubi has the widest selection of movies and tv shows I’ve witnessed so far. There’s tv shows from the 70s, 80s and movies for free that other platforms tryna make you pay to see. Why am I paying ADDITIONAL money to see a movie tht came out in 2008? Tubi dnt do that to me. https://t.co/rZFEBkhYH6
Amazing what happens when you offer a variety of stuff and don’t charge $15 a month for it. I don’t even mind the ads on Tubi so much since it’s free. Whereas enduring the ads on Disney+ has become the most galling and insufferable streaming experience imaginable. https://t.co/GpY6hUegyo
Tubi is for the people of TASTE! And those of us who didn’t get a chance to watch shows like NBC’s 2013 drama Believe, which is now a major hit on the streamer. Shows never really end anymore, do they?
Nicole Parlapiano, Tubi’s chief marketing officer, says that the streamer gives shows a second chance because they listen to what fans want. “There is a gentleman on Reddit who actually has a spreadsheet with synopses of all of our horror movies,” Parlapiano said. “We are really good at tapping into fandom communities, whether it be on Reddit or TikTok.”
Whatever happens, the prophecy is one step closer to coming true:
Gonna die laughing if Tubi is the last one standing in the streaming wars for understanding that nobody really gives a shit about Prestige Drama #14,846, they just want to watch a 45 year old episode of Columbo whenever they want.

Destroy Lonely has kicked off the rollout for his second studio album with its lead single, “Luv 4 Ya.” With his album coming out this summer, Destroy Lonely teased the track during his Coachella performance, and gave it an official release tody. Over a murky beat produced by Lil 88, Henny, and Evertime, the new song finds the young Atlanta upstart going for broke, bragging, “I got a nice place, ’bout to fly her to the A / I got a gangsta ho tryna swing my Drac’ / I’m pourin’ up eights, ridin’ with Lil 8.”
A year removed from his debut album, If Looks Could Kill, Destroy Lonely’s profile continues to rise, as evidenced by his recent collaborations. Last July, PinkPantheress tapped the Atlanta native to appear on her song “Turn Your Phone Off.” Then, this April, Quavo recruited the 22-year-old to appear on his new track, “Potato Loaded.”
While a planned tour alongside the rest of his Opium cohorts Playboi Carti, Ken Carson, and Homixide Gang was canceled earlier this year, the resulting free time has seemingly only made the Opium collective more productive. Carson announced his own tour, while Homixide Gang dropped a video for “Hi-Voltage,” signalling their own project is on the way.
You can listen to Destroy Lonely’s new single, “Luv 4 Ya,” above.
Caitlin Clark‘s start to life in the WNBA has been up and down. While she’s putting up numbers — 15.6 points, six assists, 4.9 assists, and 1.4 steals in 32.7 minutes per game — Clark has struggled to score efficiently and with turnovers for the 4-10 Indiana Fever. It’s nothing unusual for a rookie making the jump to a professional sports league, even one as decorated as Clark was at the collegiate level.
What has been unusual is the discourse that has surrounded Clark, as she’s become the sort of athlete who gets jammed into conversations about things that don’t necessarily have anything to do with the game of basketball — among numerous other examples of Clark’s name being used to push hateful narratives, a Republican congressman used the recent hard foul Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter committed on Clark and the discourse around it as a way to press the WNBA for “resentment and repeated attacks from fellow players” on Clark.
Clark has said in the past that she didn’t like the discourse around Carter’s foul, because she wanted the focus to be on basketball. Her initial effort to shrug off the conversation led to a critique from DiJonai Carrington, who felt Clark wasn’t using her platform and voice to call out when people use her to prop up stereotypes.
Dawg. How one can not be bothered by their name being used to justify racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia & the intersectionalities of them all is nuts. We all see the sh*t. We all have a platform. We all have a voice & they all hold weight. Silence is a luxury.
— dιjonaι carrιngтon♛ (@DijonaiVictoria) June 13, 2024
On Thursday, Clark was asked directly about people using her name as a way to push racist and misogynistic narratives, and she made clear that she roundly condemns all of it.
I asked #IndianaFever’s Caitlin Clark directly about her name being weaponized for racism/misogyny (as Dijonai Carrington alluded to):
“It’s disappointing. … Everybody in our world deserves the same amount of respect. The women in our league deserve the same amount of respect.” pic.twitter.com/gyAWBqGG8c
“I think it’s disappointing,” Clark said. “I think everybody in our world deserves the same amount of respect, the women in our league deserve the same amount of respect. So, people should not be using my name to push those agendas. It’s disappointing.”
Clark went on to say that praise the women in the league who came before her, and made it a place that she strived to make during her basketball journey.
“Just treating every single woman in this league with the same amount of respect, I think it’s just a basic human thing that everybody should do,” Clark said. “Just, be a kind person and treat them how you would want to be treated. I think it’s very simple.
Samara Cyn is doing everything right nowadays, but truthfully, you could say she always has. Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and bouncing around several cities before settling in Pheonix, Arizona in 2017, rapper Samara Cyn is a new lyricist to reckon with today. She constructs 16s and 32s with impressive ease and breezes through them with the TK of a veteran. There are more than slick rhymes in Cyn’s arsenal, though. Like artists such as JID and Doja Cat, Cyn lays her raps with the backing of soulful beats and soothing singing voice to make her a complete artist worth getting excited about.
Her latest single “Magnolia Rain” makes for three singles in the past year, showing a promising future in rap lies ahead for Cyn. “Magnolia Rain” presents Cyn with the cool, calm, and collected demeanor that takes precedent on most of her tracks. She steers through the record with an introspective take on life, emphasizing her choice to focus on what she can control and take everything else as it comes. “Finding out that letting go give you more control,” she sings on the song’s chorus. “Keep a calm mind, keep a calm soul.” It’s a soothing reminder to find your peace in a world that can be so chaotic.
Together with the new single, we had a moment o catch up with Samara Cyn and find out more about her in this week’s Uproxx Music 20 column. Scroll down to hear some of Cyn’s music and to learn more about her influences, inspirations, and aspirations.
This is hard. I can’t really pinpoint the earliest moment. Maybe getting ready for school to MTV Top 40s. But what’s coming to mind is rapping Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story” on karaoke with my dad at my 13th birthday party. Prime childhood memory.
Who inspired you to take music seriously?
My friend Michael Knight was the first person that really had me thinking I could do this for real. I was in college; I was just having my fun with music. It was something to do. But Michael really sat me down, believed in me, and got me set up. I remember sitting in my closet with my basic ass recording set up and him tapping into my computer from NC to teach me how to record on Logic. On some Spy Kids sh*t. He did all of my earliest production, he would mix my records, master them. All off the strength. Believed in it so much, it made me start too.
Do you know how to play an instrument? If so, which one? If not, which instrument do you want to learn how to play?
I can play a few songs on the guitar. Haven’t been able to stay disciplined enough to really learn it yet though. I think it’d be pretty badass to perform one day with an electric guitar though. So that’s the one.
What was your first job?
JCPenney and I hated it.
What is your most prized possession?
My mind.
What is your biggest fear?
Not being able to give my folks the life they deserve before time runs out, and you know, being kidnapped and tortured and stuff.
You get 24 hours to yourself to do anything you want, with unlimited resources: What are you doing? And spare no details!
Maldives, massage, good food, clear water. Peace.
What are your three most used emojis?
, , and .
What’s a feature you need to secure before you die?
Tyler The Creator.
If you could appear in a future season of a current TV show, which one would it be and why?
I really like what Vince Staples is doing with his show. It’s extremely well done. I love funny shows with a darker plot line, and I’m a fan of tasteful artist crossovers. Really admire what he’s doing with his art all around.
Which celebrity do you admire or respect for their personality and why?
Doja Cat. That woman don’t give a f*ck. She gon’ do her regardless and she does her very well, completely unapologetic. I love a “F*CK YOU” attitude for real. I feel like Tyler has that same energy. And Lil Nas X, I love him too.
Share your opinion on something no one could ever change your mind about.
You can cure any disease with the food you put and don’t put into your body — from cancer to a cold. And instead of going to doctors consistently, we should be seeing nutritionists.
What is the best song you’ve ever heard in your life and what do you love about it?
“I Don’t Know” by Nick Hakim. That song will put you in a trance! His harmonies are beautiful, his voice is soothing as f*ck, guitar loops are my favorite, and it just calms me every time I listen to it. Really pulls me back into my body when I need that. Go look it up.
What’s your favorite city in the world to perform, and what’s a city you’re excited to perform in for the first time?
I don’t have too many cities under my belt yet, but Raleigh, North Carolina has my favorite performance to date. The crowd was energetic and everybody I talked to was so sweet and down to Earth. I’m excited for London.
You are throwing a music festival. Give us the dream lineup of 5 artists that will perform with you and the location where it would be held.
What would you be doing now if it weren’t for music?
I have no idea. Whatever it would be, I’d be doing it good though.
If you could see five years into the future or go five years into the past, which one would you pick and why?
Ooof. Future. The past passed for a reason.
What’s one piece of advice you’d go back in time to give to your 18-year-old self?
Don’t wait to tap into your life force. Be yourself, be grateful, be kind, and think a little bit more on that tattoo.
It’s 2050. The world hasn’t ended, and people are still listening to your music. How would you like it to be remembered?
I’m not that old for real so I’d still be alive, God willing laughs. But I hope people see me and my music as loving, genuine, accepting, and they respect the contribution I made. I hope my music will help people feel understood, and I plan for my contribution to extend beyond music.
