Timothy Olyphant’s ‘The Mandalorian’ Character Might Be Connected To Boba Fett In A Curious Way

As casting news for season two of The Mandalorian has been flying in fast and furious, one of the most surprising and welcomed additions was the announcement that Timothy Olyphant would be joining the hit Star Wars series. While details around Olyphant’s role have been under wraps, /Film reportedly learned some interesting info that would directly connect the Justified actor to a fan-favorite bounty hunter.

None of this is confirmed, but according to /Film sources, Olyphant was spotted on set wearing Boba Fett’s armor, which is an interesting piece of information considering it’s been widely reported that Temuera Morrison is almost definitely playing Fett. So what does that mean for Olyphant’s character? /Film has a pretty interesting theory:

If Morrison is playing the role of Boba Fett, then Timothy Olyphant is playing an enigmatic character named Cobb Vanth. Introduced in Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath book series, Vanth is the self-appointed sheriff of the Tatooine-based settlement Freetown. He wears a mysterious set of Mandalorian armor that was acquired from Jawas who scavenged the wreckage of Jabba the Hutt’s sail barge shortly after the events of Return of the Jedi. As you may recall, that was the site of a battle where Boba Fett was thrown into the Sarlacc Pit on Tatooine’s Dune Sea. It’s assumed that the Mandalorian armor purchased by Vanth is none other than the infamous green armor formerly worn by one of the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunters, Boba Fett.

/Film posits that the mysterious character who appears at the end of the season one episode “The Gunslighter” might actually be Cobb Vanth and not Boba Fett as fans have theorized. As for the reliability of their source, the site was the first to break the news on Rosario Dawson joining the cast as Ahsoka and that Katee Sackhoff will play a live-action version of her Clone Wars character Bo-Katan.

After A Week Of Improvement, Raw’s Viewership Was Historically Low Again

After two weeks with record-low audiences, Raw broke out of its slump last Monday, gaining more viewers the night after Money In The Bank. However, that increase didn’t become a trend. According to data from Showbuzz Daily, fewer people tuned in to Raw this week, and the episode drew the program’s second-smallest live cable audience in its history.

This week’s Raw, which featured a brand-to-brand invitational match between Drew McIntyre and King Corbin, the return of Kevin Owens, and a kickass recorder performance by Kairi Sane, was viewed by an average of 1.76 million people over its three-hour run time. The first hour was viewed by 1.82 million people, the second by 1.81, and the third by 1.64.

The Raw with the lowest viewership ever is still the episode from two weeks ago, which was viewed by 1.69 million people, but the May 18 Raw now holds the second-place spot, bumping the Christmas 2018 episode, which had 1.78 million viewers.

Like last week, last night’s Raw was the highest-rated show on cable, but it drew lower ratings with 18-49-year-old viewers than that episode. The first two hours of the program both scored an 0.53 rating and the third hour an 0.48, down from 0.59, 0.58, and 0.53 the previous week. The episode occupied the first, second, and fifth-highest ranks in the ratings, with 90 Day Fiancé occupying the third and fourth slots.

Krispy Kreme Is Giving Out A Free Dozen Donuts To Graduates Today

High school and college seniors of the class of 2020 have been robbed of a traditional graduation ceremony due to COVID-19. While that obviously isn’t the worst thing that has happened as a result of the global pandemic, it’s still rough for the people who find the ceremony important. If it’s any consolation to grads, you got an Obama commencement speech out of it and now Krispy Kreme wants to give you a dozen free donuts.

For today only, all college and high school seniors can roll up to any Krispy Kreme and receive a specially curated Graduate Dozen completely free with no purchase necessary. All you have to do is show up wearing a cap and gown or some other Class of 2020 paraphernalia and you’ll be able to claim a free dozen donuts — creme-filled with chocolate or strawberry icing, cake batter filled, original glazed with yellow icing, or mixed.

“We feel for all of the high school and college seniors,” chief marketing officer Dave Skena said in a statement to Thrillist. “We wish they had that moment of walking across the stage and getting their diploma, we can’t replace that… but we thought we could help them safely have a little fun and enjoy a special ‘Graduate Dozen’ on us.”

If you aren’t a graduate, but you want to surprise someone who is with a box, Krispy Kreme is offering the Graduate Dozen to all customers for purchase via drive-thru or the Krispy Kreme mobile app for pickup or delivery.

Jason Momoa Can’t Resist Joining The Latest Calls To ‘Release The F*cking Snyder Cut, Baby!’

As #ReleaseTheSnyderCut trends on social media yet again, Jason Momoa just dropped his biggest endorsement for the movement yet. In an expletive-filled video made exclusively for his Instagram followers, the Aquaman star issues a loud call for Warner Bros. to release Zack Snyder‘s fabled director’s cut of Justice League. Momoa filmed the video at the gym of his personal trainer, ho also helped him get in shape for the superhero team-up:

“Right now, we are at Nonprophet, and we were just thinking to ourselves, we are sitting around doing nothing, f*cking release the Snyder Cut, am I right? Release the f*cking Snyder Cut. What are we waiting for? There’s some goodies in there. I’m just going to go ahead and put it out there. Generally, the shit I put out there comes true. Let’s hope it does. Release the f*cking Snyder Cut, baby!”

You can watch the video below:

Of course, this isn’t Momoa’s first time commenting on the rumored Justice League cut. The actor got fans’ excitement pumping back in August when he claimed that he’d actually seen Snyder’s version of the film, and that it was “ssssiiicccckkkkkk.” Although, this announcement was met with healthy skepticism considering there are conflicting reports around whether or not the Snyder even exists and what shape it’s in. Rumors have been all over the map that the Snyder Cut is everything from fully finished to a very, very rough cut that still requires an extensive amount of VFX work.

However, the timing of Momoa’s new F-bomb video suggests there might be something in the mix. Snyder is hosting a Man of Steel watch party on Wednesday, which has led to growing rumors that he’s reached a deal to release the Snyder Cut on HBO Max and will announce it during the party. Could Momoa be coordinating with his close pal Snyder to build excitement for the illusive cut finally seeing the light of day? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

What’s On Tonight: Patton Oswalt’s New Comedy Special Comes To Netflix, And ‘Stargirl’ Slides Onto The CW

If nothing below suits your sensibilities, check out our guide to What You Should Watch On Streaming Right Now.

Patton Oswalt: I Love Everything (Netflix stand-up special) — The Emmy and Grammy winning comedian brings his newest comedy special to the streaming giant. Look forward to anecdotes involving a full-scale Millennium Falcon replica and how home buying gets tied to the term “suicide squad.” Stick around for the post-credits bonus, in which Patton introduces another one-hour comedy special, Bob Rubin: Oddities & Rarities.

Stargirl (CW, 8:00 p.m.) — Following her Monday debut on the DC Universe streaming service, high-schooler Courtney Whitmore moves to the CW to pick up the cosmic staff and Stargirl mantle, exuding optimism and joy while taking out some bad guys in the process. Joel McHale stays sarcastic as Starman, but this is mostly Stargirl’s vehicle, with Luke Wilson playing Starman’s former sidekick and Courtney’s stepdad.

D.C.’s Legends Of Tomorrow (CW, 9:00 p.m.) — The Chalice has granted a (paradoxical) 24 hour period of immunity for the Legends, who are striving toward the Loom of Fate at the Waverider.

The Story of Soaps (ABC, 9:00 p.m.) — Hey, it could be intriguing to watch this examination of how decades-long soap operas come together and how they impact our culture.

The Last O.G. (TBS, 10:30 p.m.) — Tray’s faltering relationship with Paul leads to a (perhaps unwise) decision to hit the clubs and cut loose.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert — Gayle King, Amy Sedaris

The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon — Ben Stiller, Hannah Gadsby, Tim McGraw

Jimmy Kimmel Live — Janelle Monáe

The Late Late Show With James Corden — Ken Jeong, Ava Max

A Malcolm X interview 6 weeks before his death may surprise people who think they know him

Few figures in American history have as controversial a legacy as Malcolm X. Some view the civil rights leader as the violent counterpart to Martin Luther King, Jr. Some see him as an icon of empowerment, while others view him as a dangerous radical. What people think they know of him may depend on whether they’re looking at his early or later speeches, or whether they’re getting information about him from a source that views him positively or negatively.

The reality is that Malcolm X’s life is one marked by complexity and change, which makes defining his legacy in a nutshell nearly impossible. In an era where political polarization tempts us to place people neatly into ideological boxes— and where changing one’s views is often branded as flip-flopping or wishy-washiness—Malcolm X’s ever-evolving message and approach to civil rights is a reminder that no one can—or should—be confined to a soundbite.

A Canadian television interview with Malcolm X on CBC’s Front Page Challenge provides a glimpse of where X’s beliefs had led him prior to his death. The interview took place on January 5, 1965—about six weeks before his assassination on February 21st of that year. In the interview, he clarified his position on his “brother,” MLK, Jr., explained why he left the Nation of Islam but maintained his Muslim faith and described his view on black people’s right to defend their life and property “by any means necessary”—the same right all Americans share.

Malcolm X wasn’t afraid to say what he felt. It is truly tragic that his voice was cut short just as the U.S. was making strides—at least legally, on paper—toward racial equality. As with other civil rights leaders of his time, much of what X spoke about and wrote about is still relevant today, 55 years after his death. Agree with him or not, but anyone who wants a deep, broad and rich understanding of the complexities of current race relations in the U.S. would benefit from a thorough study of his life and legacy.

Gunna Thrives In Jamaica For His New ‘Wunna’ Video

Some albums have been delayed during the pandemic, but that hasn’t applied to everybody. Gunna is releasing his latest, Wunna, at the end of the week, not long after premiering the album’s title track. Now, he has shared a video for the single, which was filmed in Jamaica. In the clip, Gunna and his associates enjoy the tropical environment, spending time outside, counting money, and relaxing by the pool.

Gunna also recently dropped the first part of a documentary about the making of Wunna. The seven-minute clip shows Gunna and his collaborators traveling the world while working on the album, with footage of them making tracks in New Zealand and shooting the “Wunna” video in Hopewell, Jamaica. Gunna said ahead of the video shoot, “Of course we’re in Jamaica, been in Jamaica. Now we being more productive. About to shoot the video, behind the scenes, of ‘Wunna.’”

This was all teased by the album trailer shared last week, which includes footage similar to what’s seen in the “Wunna” video. The album — first solo release since 2019’s Drip Or Drown 2 — features production from frequent collaborators Turbo, Wheezy, Taurus, and Keyz.

Watch the “Wunna” video above.
