Cardi B needs to make room on her trophy case. The “Bongos” rapper is set to receive another monumental honor rather soon.

According to Complex, ASCAP (American Society Of Composers, Authors, And Publishers) has selected Cardi B for its newest honor. Next month, Cardi B will travel to Los Angeles to receive the 2025 ASCAP Voice Of The Culture Award.

In a statement, ASCAP Chairman Paul Williams gushed about Cardi B’s selection and her contribution to hip-hop and women within the genre.

“Cardi B has left an indelible mark on the culture of hip-hop by redefining and challenging the norms for women,” he said. “Having broken through countless barriers with her unapologetic authenticity and talent.”

He continued: “She continues to use her voice to advocate for and inspire others, a true testament to her undeniable impact. We are proud to present Cardi B with this year’s ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award.”

According to ASCAP’s official website, the ASCAP Voice Of The Culture Award is a honor “presented to an ASCAP member who has had a major influence on music and culture.”

The distinction is not awarded annually, but rather when a member makes significant strides in the culture. Past recipients include Usher in 2024 following his history Las Vegas residency. In 2021, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz & D-Nice were given the honor thanks to their innovation approach to virtual programming (Verzuz and Club Quarantine) during the pandemic. T.I. also received the acknowledgment in 2019.

‘Coyote Vs. Acme’: Everything To Know About The No-Longer-Shelved ‘Looney Tunes’ Movie

coyote acme
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation

Here’s the thing: the fact that Coyote vs. Acme was almost permanently shelved as a tax write-off is “f*cking bullsh*t,” as star Will Forte accurately put it. But luckily, Ketchup Entertainment swooped in and acquired the rights to the film (like they also did for The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie). So let’s leave that CEO-brain messiness in the past and focus on the good stuff, like how we’re getting a new Looney Tunes movie in theaters soon!

Here’s everything to know about Coyote vs. Acme.

Plot

Poor Wile E. Coyote. For decades, his attempts at filling his belly with delicious (?) road runner meat have been thwarted by malfunctioning equipment from the Acme Corporation. Coyote vs. Acme‘s clever concept has Wile E. taking legal action against Acme for “the countless faulty products that have hindered his relentless pursuit of the Road Runner,” according to the official logline. On one side, there’s Wile E. Coyote and his lawyer, played by Forte; on the other, there’s Big Acme and their attorney, portrayed by John Cena.

“The film was predominantly myself, Will Forte, and John Cena. We were kind of the only humans,” star Lana Condor told Screen Rant. “Everything else was all green screen and everything, so I didn’t really know what it was going to look like. So when I went to the funeral screening, I thought to myself, ‘Maybe the movie isn’t good and maybe I was wrong.’ Watched the film, and I personally think it was my best work I’ve ever done. And I think it was funny and kind and put a real positive message.”

Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Miller, of Lord and Miller fame, called Coyote vs. Acme (which is based on a New Yorker article you can read here) “delightful” and “funny, charming, good physical comedy timing, with a surprising amount of heart.”

Test scores were also very positive, which is why Ketchup swooped in.

Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, said: “We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide. Coyote vs. Acme is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation. We believe it will resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

The joy of watching a coyote run into a wall painted to look like a tunnel is eternal.

Cast

The live-action cast for Coyote vs. Acme includes Will Forte, John Cena, and Lana Condor, while voice actor dynamo Eric Bauza (he does Bugs, Porky, Daffy, Tweety, Marvin the Martian, etc.) provide the voices for various Looney Tunes characters.

As for which characters, besides Wile E and Roadrunner, director Dave Green teased, “Tons and tons of characters. Both in significant supporting roles, and in bit cameos. Name a character, and they’re likely in the movie.”

Release Date

Coyote vs. Acme is expected to come out in 2026.

Trailer

There’s no trailer yet, but you know what you can watch instead? The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie! It’s really funny, and the only way we’re going to get more Looney Tunes movies is to support them in theaters and on streaming (this does not apply to Space Jam: A New Legacy, an objectively terrible and unwatchable movie).

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie begins streaming on Max on June 27. Watch the trailer below:

Drake’s OVO Fest Will Return Later This Year, Or So The Rapper Told Central Cee Fans

Drake Golden State Warriors v Toronto Raptors 2025 (1024x437)

Drake is currently engulfed in a contentious legal battle with his record label UMG. Although the “Nokia” rapper has hinted at new music, given the ongoing court case fans are unsure when fresh solo work from Drake will be released.

Fortunately, for Drake’s supporters he has continued to remain tapped in with them online and by way of public appearances—the next one could indeed be OVO Fest 2025.

Yesterday (May 24), Drake’s recent venture outside served two purposes. During Central Cee’s Can’t Rush Greatness Tour stop at History in Toronto, Cee gave him the chance to address his hometown crowd. In Drake’s speech he teased the return of his beloved music festival and hinted that Central Cee would be on the lineup.

In a video captured by a concertgoer (viewable here), Drake promised OVO Fest would take place sometime “this year.”

“Congratulations, brother,” Drake said to Cee. “I’m so proud of you. […] The city loves you. We love you.”

He then went on to speak directly to the audience: “Thank you for having me. You know I love you all. You know I’ll see you this summer by the way. […] OVO Fest is back this year. So, we’ll need [Central Cee] here for that.”

Given the spontaneous nature of Drake’s announcement, details surrounding the event have not yet been released. However, the festival is typically held in Toronto, Canada in October (Drake’s birthday month). The last installment of OVO Fest took place in 2022 and featured headliners Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Nelly Furtado.

‘The Running Man’ Reboot: Everything To Know So Far About Glen Powell’s Stephen King Adaptation (May 2025 Update)

Running Man Arnold Schwarzenegger Glen Powell
Getty Image / TriStar Pictures/NBC

The Running Man was part of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s long-running streak of one-liner laden, 1980s guilty pleasures. ‘Twas also an era of dystopian, technology-fueled tales, and this project fit right in between the first two The Terminator films. And although Paul Michael Glaser’s adaptation of a Stephen King novel (written under the Richard Bachman pseudonym) differed from the book, it was no less unsettling in its own way.

Glen Powell is now headlining a reboot directed by Edgar Wright (Ant-Man, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World), and anticipation is running high for what this pair will bring to the table for Paramount Pictures. Let’s make like Glen and hit the ground sprinting on what to expect from the next The Running Man.

Plot

As viewers of the 1987 Schwarzenegger movie already know, that film followed protagonist Ben Richards (also the Powell role) becoming a contestant on a Games Network TV show to buy medicine for his sick child. In 2025, that setup might carry even more resonance, although Wright has heavily suggested (and we previously had a hunch on this topic) that his version will not show Richards crashing an airplane into headquarters in a blaze of glory/defiance. That original movie ending, obviously, would not fly so well in a post 9/11 environment.

Wright’s biggest clue on that topic arrives with a SLIGHTLY SPOILERY Instagram photo (if you choose to view it), and regardless of that presumable change, there will be more tweaks to come. Wright previously told Happy Sad Confused podcast’s Josh Horowitz that he thought the Schwarzenegger movie was alright, “but I like the book more,” and “Nobody’s done that book.” Hint hint.

More tidbits dropped at this year’s The Running Man presentation at CinemaCon, where Powell was revealed to be doing plenty of literal running in this reboot. He also referred to advice that his Top Gun: Maverick co-star gave him, according to Variety: “‘Film yourself running as soon as possible. You don’t look as cool as you think.’ And we did.”

Powell further emphasized, “I’m not trying to be Tom Cruise” (which our own Josh Kurp recently called and accurately so), “but I will say I learned so much from him on how to properly do an action movie.” The Twisters star did, as Deadline relays, loads of his own practical stunts and feels that “it really works for the audience. Because you know when you’re falling and you’re hitting the ground and you’re really doing it, the audience feels that.”

A first look at movie footage further (also via Deadline) revealed that Colman Domingo portrays the game show’s emcee, Bobby Thompson, who is seen exclaiming, “The thrill of the hunt! Can you feel it?! This is America goddamit and we don’t put up with no bullsh*t,” to which Powell followed up with “I’m still here, you sh*teaters!” So there.

Cast

Sorry, Sydney Sweeney will not appear in this film as previously rumored.

Powell will be joined by Colman Domingo (as the emcee/host), Josh Brolin (as a network executive, Dan Killian), Katy O’Brian, Lee Pace, William H. Macy, and Michael Cera.

Variety emphasized that Domingo’s emcee will have additional “razzle dazzle, a bit more showmanship” than in the first movie, and he “serves a function for entertainment. It’s like leaning into all the things that we see now, reality television” as compared to the Arnold movie.

Is Katy gonna kick some Glenn Powell ass as a fellow contestant? Maybe.

Release Date

The Running Man lands in theaters on November 7.

Trailer

Since the CinemaCon footage was locked down, the 1987 trailer will have to do for now. Do you think that Glen will attempt any similar one liners? Please.

What’s Popular On Streaming Now

mission impossible
paramount

Every single week, our TV and film experts will list the most important ten streaming selections for you to pop into your queues. We’re not strictly operating upon reviews or accrued streaming clicks (although yes, we’ve scoured the streaming site charts) but, instead, upon those selections that are really worth noticing amid the churning sea of content. There’s a lot out there, after all, and your time is valuable.

10. AndorDisney+ series

One of the most cohesive Star Wars Disney+ series (of all time? yes) ended by connecting Cassian’s story to Rogue One while disrupting canon, and sure, some controversy erupted over the political nature of final episodes, but overall, this series had a successful run. Additionally, it’s worth noting that if you are a fan of the streaming-espionage trend that is running scarce these days (many shows are currently filming additional seasons), then Andor also fits that bill. Now, it’s time to return to that long-running question of whether more Baby Yoda will be coming, either to theaters or to TV screens.

9. DusterHBO Max series

J.J. Abrams’ new drama series is a 1970s throwback complete with muscle cars and everything that accompanies them. Beyond that aesthetic, the story revolves around around an FBI agent and a getaway driver who challenge a crime syndicate, and the series is only getting started, so feel free to wrap up in the mystery and vibes or wait to binge, but either way, you will not be alone.

8. Love, Death &amp RobotsNetflix series

Deadpool director Tim Miller, Mindhunter executive producer David Fincher, and supervising director Jennifer Yuh Nelson are back with another editing of bleeding-edge animation shorts, this time with stories about “dinosaur gladiators, messianic cats,” and “string-puppet rock stars.” No matter what, you’re sure to find experiences here that will both please and offend, so dive into the abyss, y’all.

7. The EternautNetflix series

This Argentina series has lit up multiple local economies after taking off on Netflix and earning a swift second season renewal. That’s a rarity these days on this streaming service, but this adaptation of the same-named 1957 comic by Hector G. Oesterheld is now on the road to a full conclusion. If you haven’t tuned into this haunting series full of apocalyptic snow, an alien invasion, and mind control, then you have some time to catch up, but there’s no time like the onset of summer weather to tune into this arctic blast.

6. The RehearsalMax series

Nathan Fielder is already wrapping up his second season of more-awkward-than-awkward troll jobs. The episode about Capt. Sully Sullenberger’s Hudson landing and Evanescence theory landed as an instant classic, and this week’s finale simply follows this description: “Nathan makes a big bet.” Ideally, that involves a third season announcement.

5. The StudioApple TV+ series

Seth Rogen’s Hollywood-skewering comedy has reached season finale time with the question of whether or not Continental Studios can avoid being sold to a tech company. The series has, however, already been renewed for a second season, so take that as you will. As executive producer of so many shows (including the masterfully satiric The Boys on Prime Video/Amazon), Rogen knows of what he speaks, and sure, his studio exec character has been having a perpetual existential crisis, but he sure knows entertainment.

4. MurderbotApple TV+ series

Nobody can deny that Alexander Skarsgård is objectively sexy, but here, he’s portraying an unsexy robot (good luck with that) who would really prefer to bingewatch futuristic soap operas while being taxed with protecting and serving idiotic humans. So far, the fan response (from The Murderbot Diaries readers) is that the series nails the tone and spirit of the source material. And because David Dastmalchian is in every cool project these days (including Dexter: Resurrection), you know he is in this, too. Whew.

3. The Last Of Us – HBO series streaming on Max

Well, showrunner Craig Mazin really went there (via a Collider interview) this week with his belief that a third season will not be enough to adequately finish this video-game adaptation. Whether or not the HBO executives agree, nobody is revealing yet, but Mazin planted those spores seeds despite the fact that Pedro Pascal’s character bit the dust, and it’s fair to state that he has been a major draw and part of why this series took off to the first-season heights that it did. However, if any showrunner can breathe the necessary life into this show to keep it around substantially longer without Pascal, then Mazin will be the guy to figure it out. Maybe a longer third season would work instead?

2. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One – Paramount movie streaming on Paramount Plus

Tom Cruise’s final outing as Ethan Hunt (with director Christopher McQuarrie still going for it, too) has arrived in theaters, so that people can find out if this character survived an endless stream of life-threatening stunts only to, like, fall into a trash compactor or something? That would be the funniest way to end the franchise, especially after they crushed hearts by bidding farewell to Rebecca Ferguson. In all seriousness, Cruise is an overriding reason why movies survived the pandemic, so if you are so inclined, you definitely know what to do after catching up on Dead Reckoning Part One on streaming.

1. MobLandParamount Plus series

Tom Hardy needed this series to clear his mind of Venom (and that voice), and of course, the wait for an official followup declaration still persists. Regardless of whether the series decides to continue and go international, we can all agree that more Hardy (including his recent Netflix film, Havoc) is always a good thing, and maybe sometime soon, word will slip on whether he’s joined that fooking Peaky Blinders movie.

All-American Rejects Avoided Having Their Recent Concert Shut Down After The Cops Called Turned Out To Be Fans

Forget the Ticketmaster boycott many musicians orchestrated in the past, All-American Rejects have another plan. Instead of searching for a way to circumvent the company’s recent hiccups, the “Gives You Hell” band has decided to avoid major venues all together.

For All-American Rejects recent performances they decided to take it back to their indie roots. If you want to catch them live, you will need an invite to All-American Rejects next house party. While this avenue comes with a great deal of creative freedom and lowered overhead cost; the DIY-show route has its own unique challenges. During All-American Rejects recent performance they faced one common issue head-on—noise complaints.

An anonyous source called the local police to cut All-American Rejects’ show short. But, it turned out the officer responding to the call turned out to be an All-American Rejects fan and decided to let the show continue. Well, that’s what lead singer Tyson Ritter told Rolling Stone.

When discussing the moment, Ritter joked about the encounter.

“That saved our ass,” he said. “It was funny. I don’t think they even saw the bus. They just saw the crowd and my manager pulled me off stage and was like, “They’re going to arrest me.” And I go, “OK, OK, we’ll stop.”

He continued: “Our guitarist stayed onstage and he just goes, ‘Boo.’ The crowd went up in arms, and I walked back to the cop and I go, ‘Hey man, if you want these kids to get out of here in a nice peaceful order, just let us play one more song.’ And he goes, ‘I didn’t know it was you guys. Go play another song.’ That was a really cool moment.”

You won’t find a full schedule of All-American Rejects’ performance schedule. But over on Instagram, the band said their next pop-up is scheduled for the Indy 500, which takes place tomorrow, Sunday, May 25.

Justin Bieber Hit The Stage With SZA For A Surprise Duet Of ‘Snooze’ During Latest ‘Grand National Tour’ Stop

Today (May 24), Kendrick Lamar and SZA are set to play their final Grand National Tour stop at SoFi Stadium. However, the “Luther” musicians are going to have a hard time topping what they’ll already given.

Since taking over the Inglewood, California stage, the duo has treated concertgoers to several guest cameos. Yesterday (May 23), SZA brought out friend and collaborator Justin Bieber. Given Bieber’s surprise appearance fans were game for any track he was open to performing. But instead of belting out a solo song, SZA and Justin Bieber came together for a duet of “Snooze.”

In the video captured by an attendee (viewable here), SZA and Bieber’s chemistry is on full display. With his eyes closed, Bieber is taken by the passion of the track. As SZA made her way to Bieber, she gently took his face into her hands. The pair slowly made eye matching which lead to a warm and wide smile from both.

“Snooze” was a quick standout from SZA’s chart-topping sophomore album, SOS. Although “Snooze” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song broke several chart records. For 30 weeks, “Snooze,” dominated the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. Then nearly a year after SOS’ release, SZA tapped Justin Bieber for an acoustic reimagination of “Snooze” in September 2023 after appearing in its official visual.

Justin Bieber is back in the studio recording new music. His pop-up performance alongside SZA leaves fans with hope they have yet another collaboration on the way.

Questlove Says He Was Both ‘Honored’ And ‘Surprised’ By Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Squabble Up’ Reference To The Roots

From his Academy Award to multiple Grammy wins, Questlove is a well-decorated musician. Still, many are not aware of the cultural shaping he has done behind-the-scenes or even as part of The Roots. However, Kendrick Lamar knows.

Yesterday (May 23), during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Questlove shared his inital response to Lamar’s subtle reference to The Roots’ 1999 “The Next Movement” visual in the offical “Squabble Up” video.

“I was so shocked because the way that people told me,” he said. “I woke up to 30 [Kendrick Lamar] texts.”

He continued: “I thought, ‘Oh no.’ He just dissed us. I thought it was something else. And they were like, ‘No, he paid tribute to y’all in this video.’”

Despite The Roots success, Questlove believes that although they are “ubiquitous,” the groupo is “not super mainstream.”

“We’re niche,” he continued. “We’re not overexposed popular. It’s hard to tell where we fit in the scheme of things. It’s an honor but it’s also a surprise when you see people acknowledging you after all this time.”

Back in November, Questlove shared his initial response to the tribute shortly after GNX’s release on Instagram.

D’Angelo Has Dropped Out Of His 2025 Roots Picnic Headlining Set

The Roots Picnic 2025 is mere days away. While R&B, neo-soul, and rap music lovers prepare for their annual pilgrimage to Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park, they have been made aware of one major lineup change.

Late yesterday (May 23), D’Angelo dropped out of his headlining set scheduled for Saturday, May 31. In a note shared on the festival’s Instagram page (viewable here), the “Brown Sugar” singer revealed that the decision was at the advisement of his medical team.

“Due to an unforeseen medical delay regarding surgery I had earlier this year, I’ve been advised by my team of specialist[s] that the performance this weekend could further complicate matters,” he wrote. “It is nearly impossible to express how disappointed I am not to be able to play with my brothers the Roots. And even more disappointed not to see all of you.”

He continued: “I’m so thankful to my beautiful fans for continuing to rock with me and I thank you for your continued support.”

Shortly after the sad news, Roots Picnic organizers announced Maxwell as D’Angelo’s official replacement.

Although D’Angelo won’t hit Root Picnic’s main stage, he doesn’t plan on disappearing into the void. To close out his statement, he teased new music. “I’m currently in the lab and I can’t wait to serve up what’s in the pot,” he penned.
