The Roots Picnic 2025 is mere days away. While R&B, neo-soul, and rap music lovers prepare for their annual pilgrimage to Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park, they have been made aware of one major lineup change.

Late yesterday (May 23), D’Angelo dropped out of his headlining set scheduled for Saturday, May 31. In a note shared on the festival’s Instagram page (viewable here), the “Brown Sugar” singer revealed that the decision was at the advisement of his medical team.

“Due to an unforeseen medical delay regarding surgery I had earlier this year, I’ve been advised by my team of specialist[s] that the performance this weekend could further complicate matters,” he wrote. “It is nearly impossible to express how disappointed I am not to be able to play with my brothers the Roots. And even more disappointed not to see all of you.”

He continued: “I’m so thankful to my beautiful fans for continuing to rock with me and I thank you for your continued support.”

Shortly after the sad news, Roots Picnic organizers announced Maxwell as D’Angelo’s official replacement.

Although D’Angelo won’t hit Root Picnic’s main stage, he doesn’t plan on disappearing into the void. To close out his statement, he teased new music. “I’m currently in the lab and I can’t wait to serve up what’s in the pot,” he penned.

This isn’t the only Nike encrusted with Swarovski Crystals — we’ve seen this stunt pulled before, and yet, despite all the Swarovski Crystal sneakers out there, I’ve yet to ever see one in the wild. Do these even really exist? We’re not sure, but despite never having seen them worn, we still very much want a pair!

This sneaker features the classic Jordan 1 Shadow colorway textured with Swarovski Crystals. Would we ever actually wear a pair of $1000 shoes on the streets? You’re darn right we would! But that’s easy to say when you’ll probably never get the chance. But if you have the money and love Jordan 1s, this is a definite conversation starter!

For its tenth anniversary, Nike is once again dropping the infamous Kobe 9 Protro What The Kobe? Unlike typical “What The…” sneakers, the What The Kobe doesn’t actually look that crazy. Sure, its weirdly thin throat and assortment of colors feels a bit random, but this is way wearable than other famous “What The…” sneakers.

The sneaker features a 1:1 design of the OG with React cushioning and a grippy outsole. It’s not our favorite Kobe of the year, but it’s definitely up there and a must-cop for hardcore Kobe fans.

Air DT Protro ’92 White and Black

This week, Nike dropped a prototype version of Deion Sanders’ beloved Diamond Turf sneaker, the Air DT Proto ’92, and we might even like this more than the OG. Nike has a track record of dope prototypes (look at the Air Ship) and the DT Proto is no different. The sneaker sports a mid-cut design, white leather upper, mesh underneath the midfoot strap, and Nike Air cushioning at the heel and forefoot, a design detail that stayed with the original.

It’s like wearing a piece of history on your feet! Here is to hoping the DT Protro gets some more colorways as we enter the second half of 2025.

The premium and pristine leather upper, the speckled cement mudguards, the way that vibrant Jumpman logo jumps out at you! It’s a perfect sneaker. One of the all-time greatest sneakers, and we all have a chance to cop a pair this week. Good luck to you all!

If there’s anything that MobLand has made clear, it’s that the world can never have enough of gangster Tom Hardy. Perhaps that will prompt Netflix to finally open up about the status of potentially plopping Alfie Solomons into the Peaky Blinders movie. That would be a more realistic development than another wish that Steven Knight viewers have been whispering lately.

Gotta pick and choose battles, you know? And that’s what could be happening in the above MobLand still, in which Hardy’s fixer, Harry Da Souza, does not look pleased while attending a dinner event. That’s the topic of this week’s episode, so let’s get to the even more valuable logistics.

When Will Tom Hardy’s MobLand Season 1 Episode 9 Come Out?

May 25. The ninth episode, “Beggars Banquet,” hints at what’s to come with this description: “Bella does a runner to London. Tattersall gets Alice’s tootsies tapping. Kevin confronts his past. The Harrigans sit down for a normal family dinner.”

Meanwhile and off camera, Hardy recently broke the sad news to Esquire UK that his action days might be growing less intense due to injuries:

“I’ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back, I’ve got sciatica as well,” Hardy told the publication. “And I have that… is it plantar fasciitis? Where did that come from? And why? Why?! And I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It’s like, it’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”

Maybe that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu habit could use a stretching routine, too. And fingers are crossed that Hardy didn’t pull any muscles while shooting this penultimate episode (especially involving a banquet) for the season.

Landman‘s second season will bring change. Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norton will now guide M-Tex following the demise of Jon Hamm’s Monty Miller, and 1883 veteran Sam Elliott and his fabulous mustache are joining the Taylor Sheridan oil-industry drama. Tommy will also have to wear a suit jacket with his jeans and boots, and he’ll need to educate Demi Moore’s Cami on the ways of this business. The pressure is running high, in other words.

The above tidbits have arrived due to the series zooming into production in March, and this odd lull in new seasons of Sheridan shows, there’s bound to be extra interest on when we can see Tommy stress the hell out over his job and his personal life. Sure, The Madison will arrive later this year, and 1944 and Tulsa King will follow, but Landman‘s cross-demographic appeal means that curiosity is running higher for the Texas-set series.

When Will Landman Season 2 Come Out?

No precise release date exists yet. However, we can expect a late 2025 or early 2026 return, especially since Paramount+ knows how popular this series is with Sheridan’s core audience.

Billy Bob is also confident that this season will not disappoint even though production is flying so fast that only half of the scripts are currently available, as he informed Collider:

“Last year we had every episode when we started. We do not this year. We’ve only seen about half of it. I can tell you this much. I’m loving this season. The relationships are really growing and gelling – not only as actors, but with the characters.”

Notice that he did not reveal how many bawdy jokes that Tommy Norton will be forced to endure, but one thing is certain: Billy Bob Thornton will crush that dialogue, which can be relived below.

The 2025 American Music Awards organizers plan to make the Memorial Day holiday (May 26)… well, memorable.

With Jennifer Lopez serving as evening’s host and Janet Jackson set to receive the Icon Award, they’ve got the chart-toppers section covered. Well, chart-topper Alex Warren wants in on the fun.

Today (May 23), it was officially revealed by Billboard that the “Bloodline” singer has officially joined the 2025 American Music Awards list of featured performers.

Warren’s upcoming appearance hold sentimental weight for the singer as it is his debut award show performance. But as a result of his set, Warren’s breakout song “Ordinary” could perhaps get a boost and finally snag the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after dominating the Global category.

The evening’s previously announced performers include Benson Boone, Blake Shelton, Lainey Wilson, and Reneé Rapp. Other notable set include Gloria Estefan, who will give her first AMAs performance in over 30 years. Gwen Stefani is also on the bill of performers. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of her album Love.Angel.Music.Baby, Stefani will treat viewers to a medley of the project’s biggest tracks.

The 2025 American Music Awards will take place on Monday, May 26, starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The show will broadcast live on CBS and stream on Paramount+.

One thing Charli XCX has demonstrated throughout the Brat era is self-awareness. She did so once again yesterday (May 22) while being named Songwriter Of The Year at the 2025 Ivor Novello Awards, when she discussed her lyrics.

Charli said (as NME reports), “As I’m sure you all agree, I am hardly Bob Dylan, but one thing I certainly do is commit to the bit.” Tongue surely in cheek, she went on to provide examples of her “lyrical genius,” including “I want to dance to me, me, me, me, me, when I go to the club, club” from “Club Classics.”

She added, “[While] some people might describe [the lyrics] as vapid and nonsensical, [I] would unpretentiously describe it as Warholian and reflective of the cultural brain rot of our time.” Charli then continued:

“To me as a songwriter, but above all, as an artist: conviction is everything. It separates the frauds from the greats, the good singers from the trendsetters. It’s Duchamp’s fountain. It’s Denniz pop, it’s David f*cking Lynch. After arriving at the resort, which was just a short drive from the local airport, I was greeted by the resort team with a full run-down of the two properties’ amenities, with special attention paid to their newly expanded list of dining experiences and a cocktail program led by an award-winning mixologist with approval from a total bev-celeb. Before my first drink was mixed, I felt all the ingredients coming together for an unforgettable getaway that you’ll be eager to savor down to the last drop.

WHY ITS AWESOME

Oranjestad, Aruba’s capital and also its most populous region, features a hot semi-arid climate, not unlike the one found in the southwestern United States. The main attraction, however, is its uncommonly warm water, sheltered by coral reefs, which keeps the water off the coast of Aruba at a near-constant temperature year-round. It’s an IYKYK feature that gives it an edge over much of the rest of the Caribbean and makes it especially attractive for bona fide beach bums.

Appropriately, the Divi and Tamarijn Resort (two properties co-joined by a 5-minute stretch of beach) is situated right on the island’s edge and has five freshwater pools. If you prefer the Caribbean’s warmest water confined to the comfort of a lounge instead of cascading against sand, they have you covered.

Each of the resort’s dining experiences is either poolside or brushed against the beach, and while the food is a highlight, the newly installed cocktail program is worth writing home about. The trendy new Club Margot bar is the jewel around which the property’s other food and beverage experiences orbit. With its upscale open-air concept, it’s classy enough to warrant a serious sit-down dinner but with an island-appropriate easy-going vibe. That mishmash of comfort and class is encapsulated by Head Mixologist Gilbert Gomez’s Honey I’m Home cocktail, a concoction that fuses Botanist Gin, housemade honey dew syrup, lime juice, and an egg white topping, which won an international accolade for excellence which is a long way of saying it tastes really damn refreshing.

IN HOUSE FOOD & DRINK

Divi & Tamarijn’s dining options are only moderately diverse, but they emphasize the quality of the food.

Paparazzi Restaurant, Bar, & Lounge

On night one of my stay, I dined at the resort’s Italian-style restaurant with a group of fellow travelers, and the Filetto Di Salmone was my main course of choice — a tender, well-cooked fish dish with balanced flavors. While it isn’t a family-style restaurant, I couldn’t resist sharing a bit of my plate with the guest to my left in exchange for the flavorful Vitello Tonnato, a thinly sliced veal with tuna créme, caper apples, and pine nuts that wasn’t as island-inspired, but equally delicious.

Red Parrot

The resort’s signature restaurant, Red Parrot, specializes in “international cuisine” in a dressy-casual setting. A starter of seafood bisque and a main of beef bourguignon charted my course to satisfaction before closing a more elevated night out with crème brulee. This restaurant hosted a number of smartly dressed couples and families, treating themselves to what was formerly the resort’s most refined dining experience.

Club Margot

Divi & Tamarijn’s newest dining option doubles as its classiest space with a jazzy, open-air concept full of Mediterranean fare with a Caribbean touch. Club Margot is also the primary stomping ground for the resort’s startender Gilbert Gomez, who can be found serving up his signature Honey I’m Home cocktail while the sound of jazz music serenades diners in the family-style restaurant and bar. The Deconstructed Gin, a clever piecemeal cocktail where you can choose your own adventure, and the Fat Joe Old Fashioned, with bacon-infused bourbon, orange bitters, and cherry syrup, are two hidden gems that are as eye-catching as they are delicious.

Hands-down, the coolest thing just off-property is to explore Aruba via an Andicuri UTV off-road tour, which takes travelers along the beach and through Aruba’s semi-arid dunes for a three-hour adventure. The extended package is four hours long and comes with the added bonus of snorkeling included.

BED GAME

Having a plush bed is one of the most essential features of any vacation because you’ll want to be fully rested and recharged, whether your days are chock-full of adventures or more geared toward 24-hour relaxation. Bedside USB charging stations will keep you sunk into the pillows of your choice on either king or queen beds, with some twin beds available as well. As someone who loves their rest, I have to say that waking up was always a breeze since I had both my phone and physical batteries recharged, even after just a brief midday nap.

SEXINESS RATING

What’s not to love about an oceanside Caribbean resort? With abundant poolside bars, incredible views, and a recently renovated interior design that felt modern and thoughtful, there’s plenty of beauty for your eyes to see. If I’m being hypercritical, I’d love to see a larger shower, maybe with a nice big bathtub for soaking, in select rooms. That said, the upscale dining options — namely, the new Club Margot, and the recent redesigns really upped the sex appeal of this property for me.

VIEWS & PIC SPOTS

Without a doubt, the best views between the two properties can be found at the newly installed Club Margot. One of the property’s largest pools is within view on one side, and the rolling ocean waves are immediately situated on the other. Additionally, it has the property’s sexiest interior design, with a piano set up right at the bar, beautiful light fixtures, and an elegant island decor that simply captures you in its clutches. You can also take a stroll out onto a balcony directly over the water after your meal to really feel fully immersed in all of that Aruban island beauty.

Rating: 9/10

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Thanks to that year-round constant climate, which keeps the water off the coast of Divi & Tamarijn at a steady, warm temperature, it’s tempting to say the best time to visit is any time of the year — but let’s be realistic. Most vacationers will be flocking to these gorgeous twin properties in the summer months, which means that your best bet is to target a trip early in the off-season. I enjoyed a stay in late August when the property was still mostly full, but easily navigable, allowing me to enjoy all of the amenities at my leisure and secure the most coveted dinner reservations with ease.

IF I HAD TO COMPLAIN ABOUT “ONE” THING

None of these complaints is all that big, but I have three. For one, I absolutely could NOT get enough of the pistachio croissants and hot coffee at Le Café! From the moment I laid eyes on and enjoyed the two, I was hooked, but I could not have them delivered to the room, which meant a short stroll (and typically a wait in line) was necessary.

Second up? Another minor/situational complaint, but when I stayed at the resort, it was to celebrate the debut of Club Margot alongside celebrity mixologist Natalie Migliarini. Those two draws meant the place was PACKED and service wasn’t yet on its A-game. Nevertheless, the food was incredible and the drinks were unforgettable. I’m sure they’ve since worked out the kinks, making dining during peak season a much smoother experience.

Finally, a negative that can actually be spun as a positive: the location of the gym. Situated off to one side of the property while the bulk of the action is at the heart of the resort, it required my greatest stretch of walking to manage an early-morning workout. I could definitely use the extra steps after all those pistachio croissants, and the quality and cleanliness of the gym were definitely impressive, but you asked for a complaint, and I certainly would have taken more time to work out if the facility were more centrally located.

Rates for the Tamarijn all-inclusive rooms in peak season start at about $700 per night, which isn’t all that outrageous given the many amenities and options available, not to mention the time of year. Rates at the Divi property are slightly higher, offering more luxe accommodations (which are notably a bit further out from the gym, if you’re into that kind of thing).

Noah Wyle, a stethoscope, and barrels full of intensity. That’s the winning equation that led to The Pitt making HBO Max the home of an irresistible medical drama in addition to the place where dragons, finance brats, and the infected call home. Of course, viewers know that The Pitt showcased infections of a different variety, and after a breakneck, 15-hour shift for Dr. Robby and his trusty crew, HBO viewers can now look forward to a second season on Max.

In other words, there will be more hell for Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s doctors, nurses, and support staff, so let’s review the prescriptions (including a theory about furries) that have surfaced on what to expect.

Cast

Noah Wyle will return as Dr. Robby. As for the rest of the ensemble, early speculation has given way to Wyle hinting (via IndieWire) that he views The Pitt as a platform for up-and-coming, younger actors:

“My dad told me years ago that the key to longevity in this business is figuring out how to work with young people,” said Wyle during a recent conversation with SAG-AFTRA Foundation, “and don’t be the guy that says, ‘You know what we should do or you know what we used to do?’”

Wyle’s words virtually guarantee that we’ll be seeing returns from Taylor Dearden (as Dr. Mel King), Isa Briones (as Dr. Trinity Santos), Gerran Howell (as Dr. Dennis Whitaker), and Shabana Azeez (as med student Victoria Javadi) again. Series creator R. Scott Gemmill also noted that mostly be “the same crew” will be visible onscreen, and Gemill was candid about a central plan to bring back Patrick Ball as the troubled Dr. Frank Langdon, who would undergo substance abuse treatment in between seasonal shifts.

Plot

The diagnosis for the second season: 15 more episodes. The next shift will also be set during a holiday weekend, and to be more specific, the Fourth of July realm. Naturally, we can expect to see the standard firecracker-fueled injuries that happen in early summer and — just saying — Independence Day weekend also happens to be when the annual “premier furry convention,” Anthrocon, takes place in Pittsburgh, which prominently showcases a “Fursuit Parade and Anthrocon Block Party.”

Has HBO Max confirmed that this furries-filled event will influence the second season? Not exactly, but the theory was mentioned to executive producer John Wells, who (in a clip posted on Reddit) answered a question of whether The Pitt writers were aware of Anthrocon’s timeliness. His answer: “I can tell you right now that if they aren’t, they will be by the time I get back!”

How could they resist? Seriously. Do it.

On a more concrete note, R. Scott Gemmill revealed that picking up stories 9 or 10 months later will allow characters to grow and come back as slightly different versions of themselves, which “gives a lot of room for us to have developed a few stories in the interim, and catch up with everyone.”

That will include more personal troubles bubbling up during this second shift. Noah Wyle did tell Variety that Dr. Robby will be “no longer is able to pretend to himself that he doesn’t need help.” And as noted above, the troubles of Dr. Robby’s protégé, Dr. Langdon, will be a significant part of the show, and as Gemill stated, “I think we will pick up on Langdon’s first day back at work.” He added, “Patrick is a brilliant actor, and we love Langdon, and there’s a lot more to mine in that relationship” with Dr. Robby.

Additionally, actress Tracy Ifeachor has hinted to Us Weekly (via Deadline) that new shades could emerge from Dr. Robby’s previous relationship with Dr. Heather Collins. Ifeachor then added this disclaimer:

“I’m just going to leave it there … I’m not a [plot] ruiner. I’m not even going to tell you who is or is not going to come back. I’m just going to say I want you to watch Season 2 and just enjoy it as much as you’ve watched Season 1. Hopefully there’ll be Seasons 3 and 4 and 7.”

Well, with the success that The Pitt has seen so far, and if the show can keep nailing an annual release, the momentum should easily keep going for several seasons.

Release Date

HBO content chief Casey Bloys has been forthright about The Pitt making a speedy return rather than wait multiple years in between seasons.

A season per year? That’s the intent. Bloys told Vulture that The Pitt‘s model of shooting makes “a year later” possible, meaning that the second season should arrive in January 2026. Further, Bloys believes that “15 episodes in a year” remains “a really great addition to what we’re already doing on the platform. And I’d like to do more shows in this model.” Whew.

Without second season footage thus far, this get-to-know video will introduce some of the younger cast members who should be coming back to The Pitt.

Since the last time Blackpink went on tour, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa have all released solo projects. But the K-pop quartet are getting back together for a 2025-2026 global trek, dubbed the Deadline World Tour.

On Friday (May 23), Blackpink released a teaser promoting the all-stadium tour, which kicks off in South Korea in July before making its way to North America, Europe, and then back to Asia. The 30-second video shows the word “Deadline” emerging from a pile of pink glitter.

Could “Deadline” also be the name of a new Blackpink album? It’s too early to say, but Lisa did recently reveal that “we were in the studio a few days ago. We’re all so super excited to get back together and go on tour. We really miss the blinks. We can’t wait to see them.”
